Rogue is a character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, commonly in association with the X-Men. Created by writer Chris Claremont and artist Michael Golden, she first appeared in Avengers Annual #10 (1981). In her comic book appearances, Rogue is depicted as a mutant, a subspecies of humans born with an "X-gene" that grants superhuman abilities. She is capable of absorbing the life force, attributes, memories, and superpowers of anyone through physical touch. Rogue is initially portrayed as a reluctant supervillain, but she soon joins the X-Men as a superhero and has since endured as one of its most prominent members. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rangerryan/message

For this week's podcast, we're digging out a treasure from the CBCC Patreon Feed: our deep-dive conversation with Daniel Warren Johnson about The Nam # 9. This thorough discussion launched our "Married to Singles" Patreon exclusive series, where we examine the favorite single issues of various comic book creators and critics. It's one thing to dissect an artist's work alongside or in front of them, as we often do, but it's an entirely different thing to scrutinize an artist's work with another artist. Daniel Warren Johnson is a can't-miss cartoonist. If he's on a book, you want that book in your pullbox. Extremity, Murder Falcon, Do a Powerbomb!, and Transformers are essential reads for those obsessed with the comic form. If you want to understand what DWJ does so well, our conversation with him about his passion for Michael Golden gives you another angle. As Johnson remarks in our chat, Michael Golden in The 'Nam # 9 does things he would never do, and those choices mystify and compel him. Johnson came to the Marvel series late in his comic reading history, picking up the first two issues and enjoying them but only coming across the rest of those Golden books years later at C2E2. He profoundly appreciates all those early 'Nam issues, but the ninth one just hits differently. Why? We get into it. After you enjoy our conversation with Daniel Warren Johnson, consider digging into the rest of our "Married to Singles" episodes. We have thorough inspections with Jason Ayers on Uncanny X-Men # 183, Christian Ward on Arkham Asylum, and more. The CBCC Patreon costs as little as $1 a month or $12 a year. You can also purchase these episodes individually, without joining the Patreon, for $3 an episode via our Online Shop. The 'Nam # 9 was originally published by Marvel Comics on May 19, 1987. It was written by Doug Murray, penciled by Michael Golden, inked by John Beatty, and lettered and colored by Phil Felix. G.I. Joe mastermind Larry Hama served as editor, while Jim Shooterwas Editor-in-Chief. You can continue this conversation by following Daniel Warren Johnson on Twitter, Instagram, and his Website. Fulfilling a prophecy set forth by one Chris Eberle about a year ago, we have quite literally willed the Micronauts back into existence! That's right, as Marvel begins republishing this long in limbo property, we here at Comic Geek Speak gather together to discuss the first twelve issues of this 1979 classic in as much detail as we can muster. And in order to do so properly, Chris, Ian, Murd and Shane are joined by none other than Ryan Drost of the Star Joes Podcast! Ryan brings with him history on the original toy line, what led Bill Mantlo to the comic book series in the first place, who Marvel nearly had draw the title before Michael Golden signed on, the many comparisons to Star Wars, and so much more. So do you best to avoid miniature ships as they whiz through your front yard, secure Muffin, time travel with The Time Traveler, be cautious of Baron Karza and his Body Banks, and try not to get turned into a cyborg or a centaur, because this one is a doozy! This week I wanted to talk about a comic I loved as and kid and still hold near and dear to my heart, Micronauts. I go over the masterpiece that is issue #1 by Bill Mantlo, Michael Golden, and other. They crafted an amazing first chapter to the series. Micronauts will return in a Marvel Omnibus coming out early next year and I can't wait, to reread the whole series and do some episodes about it. Let me know what you think about that. Please shoot me a DM on any of my social media sites or via email stopletsteamup@gmail.com https://linktr.ee/stopletsteam #marvelcomics #micronauts #billmantlo #michaelgolden #davecockrum #Bug #CommanderRann #Marionette #Microtron #Biotron #BaronKarza

You've undoubtedly heard various business names, but @properties for a real estate company? There has to be a compelling story behind that name. Listen in and get the story behind the naming from my guests Thaddeus Wong and Michael Golden, the co-CEOs and co-Founders of @properties and co-CEO's of Christie's International Real Estate. in this episode of The Real Estate Sessions. Long story short, they believed that building something bigger than themselves was the key to success and named their company after this thought. Starting their firm after an opportunity from a client who offered them his business after they left their previous company where the duo worked, they have come so far as to make it run successfully for over 23 years now! And despite some challenges along the way, their business has only flourished. The secret to their success? That's a lot of things, including dedication and hard work. But two of the most important ones, they will tell you, are culture and relationships. Thad and Mike have, for the longest time, focused on building a strong sense of community among their agents and offered support and guidance through financial education and marketing programs. They have helped their agents feel connected and not isolated, even during a difficult period in the market. Their core value of relationships has paid off, leading to their best growth during and after the downturn.Their company also has a unique approach to technology adoption. They have a team of engineers who have been building their technology stack for the past 15 years, focusing on creating a fully integrated platform for real estate agents that saves time and offers convenience. They understand the needs of real estate agents as they were salespeople themselves for many years and continue to adapt their program to meet the changing needs of agents! In addition to technology, @properties has integrated Christie's International Real Estate brand into its platform, providing a complete end-to-end transaction solution. The company believes that having local independent leaders as partners, rather than having a corporation own all brokerages, is the key to obtaining the best agents with an entrepreneurial spirit. They aim to provide value to the homeowner, eventually increasing referrals and repeat usage. Listen to the episode for more!Success clues from today's episode:● A strong sense of community and close relationships with coworkers is more important to many people than the pay they receive, leading to their leadership team not losing anyone of substance.● @properties navigated a difficult market period by offering support and guidance to their agents through financial...
P. Craig Russell deserves all the awards. Even with a more than a handful of Harveys, Eisners, and Inkpots to his name, he probably could be nominated every year and no one would blink an eye. From his very first Amazing Adventures run to the Killraven graphic novel; from inking Batman over Michael Golden and Jim Starlin pencils to the sword and sorcery Elric stories; from his acclaimed Night Music adaptations to his Sandman work; Craig never fails to delight and impress. If you know anything about opera, you know how impossible it seems to adapt Richard Wagner's Ring Cycle. But Craig did it with an award-winning a 14-issue comic series. He's one of the best, folks, so kick back, listen up, and enjoy the tales! _____________________________________________Check out a video version of this episode on our YouTube channel: youtube.com/dollarbinbandits.If you liked this podcast, please rate, review, and subscribe on Apple Podcasts.
