Can religion ruin your sex life? This week on A Little Bit Culty, Sarah and Nippy are joined by psychotherapists and certified sex therapists Jeremiah Gibson and Julia Pastima—co-hosts of the podcast Sexvangelicals: The Sex Education the Church Didn't Want You to Have. Together, they explore how religion, especially purity culture and fundamentalist gender roles, can cause lasting damage to relationships and sexual well-being. From internalized shame to rigid scripts about gender and sex, Jeremiah and Julia explain how high-control religious environments affect intimacy long after someone leaves the faith. They also discuss the complexities of deconstructing religion as a couple, the importance of finding shared values, and why therapy can be a vital lifeline through it all. If you're trying to untangle your beliefs from your bedroom, this conversation offers both validation and guidance. This one's extra spicy, so listener discretion is advised. In this deeply emotional episode of the Sarah Fraser Show, I reflect on the heartbreaking conclusion of the three-part memorial for Garrison Brown from Sister Wives. Watching Kody dig his son's grave was a poignant moment that encapsulated the family's grief, and I couldn't help but feel the weight of their loss. Janelle and Christine navigated their emotions while trying to keep the family together, revealing that the kids have bonded more than the adults, particularly with Kody and the wives still estranged. The touching tributes, including a Viking ship urn crafted by Mitch, brought tears to my eyes as the family honored Garrison's memory.  Timestamps: 00:00:00 - Emotional Reaction to Sister Wives Episode 00:08:26 - Garrison's Funeral Plans 00:10:27 - Kody Digging Garrison's Grave 00:20:06 - Kody and Janelle's Unity in Grief 00:28:34 - Kids Leaving Mementos at the Grave00:33:22 - Preview of Upcoming One-on-One Episodes MY Go Big Podcasting Courses Are Here! Dr. Margaret (Peggy) Hamburg, former FDA Commissioner, describes the profound impact the HIV epidemic has had on her personally and in terms of her career choices. She discovered in her six years as FDA Commissioner how vitally important FDA is to the safety and protection of Americans, at home and abroad. FDA has oversight responsibility for fully 20% of the American economy. She is  deeply worried at the level of destruction visited upon FDA recently, but cautions that it is critical to wait until the dust has settled. “Corporate capture” of FDA has been an issue for a long time, tied to user fees and industry participation on advisory panels. What is most important is to engage the right expertise and experience, with effective guardrails. The Trump administration has instructed FDA to expand overseas unannounced inspections, expedite the creation of a centralized AI platform across all FDA units, and lower the barriers to the pharmaceutical industry building new facilities on US soil. In each of these ambitious goals, a step-by-step approach is needed, along with attention to the “disconnect” between big, new goals versus uncertain, or declining FDA capabilities in staff, financing, and dedicated offices. She is very concerned at the worsening threat to vaccines and the need somehow to earn back public trust. The same is true for the U.S. “biomedical research and innovation enterprise”—the envy of the world—that has been struck by a “wrecking ball.”

Description: In the span of a single year, Abby Wambach lost her beloved brother, her wife Glennon Doyle  was diagnosed with anorexia, and her sister-in-law Amanda Doyle was diagnosed with breast cancer. For the first time, the trio who host the wildly popular We Can Do Hard Things podcast, all found themselves simultaneously lost, looking for answers. So they turned toward the only thing that's ever helped them find their way: deep, honest conversations with other brave, kind, wise people. What resulted from those conversations was a myriad of guideposts, words of wisdom from some of the most brilliant wayfinders in the zeitgeist today. In this episode, Jen and Amy talk with Abby and Amanda about some of the most meaningful bits of guidance that they have received from inspirational voices like Elizabeth Gilbert, Jane Fonda, Michelle Obama, Ocean Vuong, Esther Perel,  Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, and others that they have gathered into a new book called, We Can Do Hard Things: Answers to Life's 20 Questions. Some of the conversations they delve into include: Why are we like this? How do we figure out what we really want? How do we let go, or forgive, or get unstuck? Why do we wake up every day having forgotten everything we know? Why self-loyalty is so damn hard for women? Thought-provoking Quotes: “I'm just trying to remain a human in this political environment, in this place of deep fear where so much is at risk. And I think the way we do that is continuing to see each other as human and continuing to let our hearts break over what should break our hearts.” – Amanda Doyle “Having played on many different teams, I'm well suited to work well with others. I just have to be here and be myself. That is the way that I add value. I am not gonna add value in the way that Glennon and Amanda do. I know that. But that doesn't give me any lack of confidence because I know I bring something to the team.” – Abby Wambach “After 400 or so conversations, it was so wild that, whether we were talking to a person who's been a therapist for 40 years, or a person who's a poet, or a person who's an activist, there were just a handful of questions that all of these people are struggling with. The smartest people in the world are trying to figure out the same things that we are.” – Amanda Doyle Resources Mentioned in This Episode: Forward: A Memoir by Abby Wambach - https://amzn.to/4ckZOFi WOLFPACK: How to Come Together, Unleash Our Power, and Change the Game by Abby Wambach - https://amzn.to/4cpazqg We Can Do Hard Things: Answers to Life's 20 Questions by Glennon Doyle, Abby Wambach, and Amanda Doyle - https://amzn.to/3EfeZ6r Glennon Doyle - https://momastery.com/ Amanda Doyle Stops Keeping Score And Stays In The Moment - https://jenhatmaker.com/podcasts/series-60/amanda-doyle-stops-keeping-score-and-stays-in-the-moment/ Brené Brown - https://brenebrown.com/ Kate Bowler - https://katebowler.com/about/ Suzanne Stabile - https://suzannestabile.com/ Guest's Links: Website - https://abbywambach.com/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/abbywambach/ Twitter - https://x.com/abbywambach Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/abbywambach/ Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCej3anJvC-rSMd63asN8cXg Podcast - https://wecandohardthingspodcast.com/ Guest's Links: Twitter - https://x.com/amandafdoyle Podcast - https://wecandohardthingspodcast.com/ Connect with Jen!Jen's Website - https://jenhatmaker.com/ Jen's Instagram - https://instagram.com/jenhatmakerJen's Twitter - https://twitter.com/jenHatmaker/ Jen's Facebook - https://facebook.com/jenhatmakerJen's YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/user/JenHatmaker The For the Love Podcast is presented by Audacy. Have you ever found yourself spending a crazy amount of time and energy trying to figure out why things happen in life? Wondering what you did to attract it? Desperately seeking answers right now, and coming up frustrated when you can't make sense of it.But what if the whole plan is like a puzzle that doesn't form a picture until you've been given most of the pieces and taken the time to make them fit? You'll look back one day and see how it all comes together. You could say Flip Brown has gone through life being, in some ways, both a product of his times and a traveler through a different time than everybody else was living in.Growing up, he had a father who was ahead of his time in terms of fighting racism and homophobia, but a man of his time in emotional intelligence. His mother was a teacher who had to give it up when she became pregnant with Flip. She was doting and kind and taught Flip how to read early so he was ahead of his classmates. And when Flip was eight years old, she joined a cult religion.Consistent with his times, Flip did hallucinogens, which affected his state of mind for decades to come. In contrast with his times, he changed careers many times in an era where you picked one thing and stuck with it until retirement. He's worked as a psychologist, nonprofit executive, international product manager, mobile crisis team clinician, retail salesperson, and wilderness workshop leader. He's also been a hardwood furniture craftsman, windsurfing instructor, gigging musician, cross-country ski instructor, a cappella singer, and gardener. Wow!Intuition served him along the way, when he abruptly quit a job with no plan, only to be immediately offered a much better one right out of the blue.A lot of this might not have been "fine" by society, but Flip thought it was fine, partially because he didn't realize how experiencing sexual abuse, as well as his father's workaholism, patterned him. But as we all know, Fine is a 4-Letter Word.In a moment, when you meet Flip, you'll be mindblown by one of the inflection points that helped Flip see it all come together – therapy using the plant-based medicine psilocybin. You'll be washed away by his experience with alcohol and his unique personal journey away from it, triggered in part by losing his brother-in-law on the Pan Am Lockerbie flight. He relates how his experience on the mobile crisis team at a community mental health center dealing with acutely psychotic and suicidal people prepared him for his current work in executive coaching, team facilitation, and interactive skillbuilding.Flip's hype song is "Come Together" by The Beatles.Resources:Flip Brown's website: https://businesscultureconsultants.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/flipbrown/Invitation from Lori: This episode is sponsored by Zen Rabbit. Smart business leaders know trust is the foundation of every great workplace. And in today's hybrid and fast-moving work culture, trust isn't built in quarterly town halls or the occasional Slack message. It's built through consistent, clear, and HUMAN communication. Companies and leaders TALK about the importance of connection and community. And it's easy to believe your organization is doing a great job of maintaining an awesome corporate culture. Because you've got annual all-hands and open door policies, and “fun" team-building events. But let's be real. Leaders who are serious about building real trust are finding better ways to strengthen culture, create connection, and foster...

Those looking to pick up a pair of the brand's Air Jordan 1 High sneakers could shell out an extra $18 on top of their current $180 price tag after the new tariff goes into effect April 9, industry sources told The Post. The 46% tariff on Vietnam would add another $8.28 to the total cost per pair, which adds up when its multiplied by 8,000 – or the number of sneakers that can fit in to a shipping container. But Nike is likely to negotiate deals with its factories to mitigate these costs — or as many industry experts believe, the tariffs will change as the countries negotiate deals.
