Exam papers leaked, 12 students took their lives as a result, a corrupt government official resigned, millions came out in protest, the cockroaches united. This episode talks about the movement forced into existence by the arrogance and entitlement of privilege, enduring injustice and corruption and the feeling among Gen Z that enough is simple enough.Saroj joins me to talk about the Cockroach Janta Party and offers her insights on the youthful movement that shook the establishment. On another note, this is the first episode in a few weeks. It was important to take a break and to gather my strength. Producing a podcast every week for over 5 years is not easy. More importantly however, in that time this show lost a very dear person. Karin Clarke with whom I had the privilege of doing a number of episodes about her remarkable life passed away. August 9 - 15: FIND AN EXITThe week ahead sees the Moon pivoting around the Sun in proximity with Ketu, yielding a total solar eclipse on Wednesday, August 12. This dramatic celestial event centers on the transition between the signs of Cancer and Leo, fusing this moment into a memorable opportunity to discover the roots of obstruction and to see a path forward out of what has been a very stuck situation. The Moon wanes into the new point at 26 degrees Cancer during the first half of the week and then waxes out of the eclipse zone during the second half of the week. Other than the Moon, no other planets shift signs. Saturn's retrograde motion in Pisces will continue to alleviate some friction through mid-December. Have you ever wondered how awards show beauty partnerships come together to create big, splashy red carpet moments that seem to reverberate across social media for weeks or months? Award season partnerships are big business for everyone involved: the celebrity, who may be fulfilling, or courting, a spokesperson deal; beauty and lifestyle brands, which are often promoting a new product or simply seeking brand awareness; and professional artists, who are oftentimes the glue that holds it all together. In today's episode of the Glossy Beauty Podcast, host Lexy Lebsack interviews beauty industry agents Marissa Alfe and Lauren FitzGerald. The duo opened their full-service Los Angeles talent agency, Prtnrs Mgnt, in 2020. They currently represent 18 standout hair, makeup and nail artists including Patrick Ta, Ariel Tejada and Laura Polko. Together, their artists work with stars like Gigi Hadid, Rosalia, Kylie Jenner, Olivia Munn and Alix Earle, while Alfe and FitzGerald have brokered deals for their clients with brands like La Mer, Chanel, Morphe and Redken. Alfe and FitzGerald are longtime friends and former colleagues at competing agency Cloutier Remix Agency. Alfe's CV also includes Burberry and founder of Greyscale Management, while FitzGerald has held roles at InStyler and Digital Brand Products, the licensing and products division to Digital Brand Architects.

Things Discussed: Surprised how fast they're speed-running into a 24-team Playoff. They're on a gold rush now because they discovered they can draw out all the goodwill and passion obtained from 100 years of this being a good deal. Jordan Marshall: Excited to be a captain because it's about bringing people together. Said it's why we beat OSU 13-10, and that OSU had to become more connected to come back and beat them. THAT is what it's about. Seeing nugs of the good college football we're here for all over the place. M's front seven next year? Not natty-level because not enough superstars. LBs are so young—liked NOB and Chase last year more for freshmen. Staehling doesn't do it for me. Think their depth is shaky. Team is a work in progress. Who's the best player on the defense this year? We can't answer it. Reviewing Wink: Was too clever. I have a greater appreciation for the collaborative nature of football. Bring back Doug Mallory as an analyst. He's a nerd, like Kyle Church or Jay Harbaugh, just doesn't put himself forward enough. Nicknaming: Moustapha Thiam is Moose. Hockey guys all get a –y, except Seth who was Fat Fish. Boynton presser: seemed to have a handle on things. Confident, relaxed. VERY happy to have Kyle Church around; Brown was a Dusty guy. First impressions of new guys: Costello can SHOOT and is a real 6-10. Different types of dudes you encounter in different sports. What do you want to hear from Media Days? Bryce is getting it, mention guys we haven't heard before.

Have you ever looked in the mirror and wondered, "Why is it so much harder to lose weight than it used to be?" Maybe you've tried the diets... counted the calories... exercised faithfully... only to watch the scale refuse to budge. What if the problem isn't a lack of willpower? What if we've been asking the wrong question all along?Today on Call IT in With Dar, I'm joined by Dr. William Summers, a physician with more than 36 years of experience helping people understand the science behind obesity. As a board-certified OB/GYN and medical weight management specialist, Dr. Summers believes it's time we stop blaming ourselves and start recognizing obesity for what it truly is—a complex medical condition influenced by biology, hormones, metabolism, and our modern environment.  In this myth-busting conversation, we'll explore why obesity has become one of the greatest health challenges of our time, what new research is revealing, how medications like Ozempic and Mounjaro are changing the conversation, and most importantly, why compassion and understanding are far more powerful than guilt and shame.  Whether you're struggling with your own weight, supporting someone you love, or simply wanting to separate fact from fiction, this episode offers clarity, hope, and practical insight.  Let's come together for this important conversation about obesity! Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics! We hope all the dads out there had a great Father's Day!  This week, Julia and Anthony discuss the extended "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" Christmas episode (released as a standalone DVD back in 2009 before airing in two parts on television to cap off Season 6), "A Very Sunny Christmas"!  For anyone familiar with this show, this should go without saying, but this episode contains language that could be considered offensive, as well as a lot of swearing - in the context of quoting the special. And that warning alone should give you an idea of what Julia thought of this show, which she has never seen before! Is Anthony a fan though? You'll have to tune in to find out! Even if he is though, whether or not this episode has a Linus moment or is a bonafide holiday hit is another question!  Also discussed this episode: Gabe's Birthday, "Disclosure Day", Jameson the dog (may he Rest in Peace), AI and how we treat it, and much, much more. This is one fun, festive installment of the podcast you definitely don't want to miss!  So settle back, relax, and, as always, enjoy! Thanks for your love and support, y'all!

In this episode of Emerging Tech Horizons, Dr. Arun Seraphin is joined by Nick Lanham, Chair of NDIA's Data Analytics and Enterprise Platforms Division and Senior Data & AI Analyst at Kairos, and Charles Ott, Vice President and Solution Strategist at Maximus, to discuss NDIA's hackathon model and what makes it effective. The conversation offers a practical look at how this hackathon works: bringing together technologists, industry leaders, and government users for a focused, time‑boxed effort to tackle real defense problems. Rather than operating as a competition or a coding exercise, the hackathon is designed as a collaborative learning environment—one where participants share knowledge, test ideas, and better understand both user needs and institutional constraints. Lanham and Ott explain why this approach benefits everyone involved. Across the board, participants leave with a clearer picture of the problem space and stronger connections across the defense innovation community. The episode looks back at NDIA's inaugural hackathon, highlights what worked, and previews what's planned for the upcoming event at the Emerging Technologies for Defense Conference. More broadly, it explains why thoughtfully designed hackathons are emerging as a valuable complement to traditional acquisition and innovation processes.Learn more and get involved with this year's NDIA Hackathon: https://hackathon.ndia.org/browse?status=upcomingRead ETI's brief on Hackathons as a defense acquisition tool: https://www.emergingtechnologiesinstitute.org/publications/brief-series/competing-for-capabilitySAVE THE DATE: 2026 NDIA Emerging Technologies for Defense Conference and Exhibition September 9-10, 2026, at the Walter E. Should the assembly of the church consist of congregational worship, ensemble worship, or both? This study draws from 1 Corinthians 11 and 14 looking at how the New Testament describes the gathering of the church. By reading these scriptures, readers can see how the gathering for communion, edification, and worship were acts of the whole church.

Send us Fan MailGUEST: TODD FRIEL, Executive Director of Fortis InstituteThis Memorial Day Weekend, as we honor the sacrifice of so many members of the military over the generations who gave their lives in defense of our country and freedoms, we ought to thank God for His goodness, patience, and protection of our nation. This year we commemorate 250 years as an independent nation. The Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776 and references God four times as the source of our rights, laws, guidance, and protection. Indeed, early Americans and our history were overtly Christian. But as rebellion against God lurks in the heart of man, we have strayed very far from that today. The Trump Administration, along with public and private organizations, are seeking to change that, to rededicate our nation to God. One week ago, a large event was held in Washington DC called Rededicate 250, promoted as “A National Jubilee Of Prayer, Praise & Thanksgiving. Freedom 250 Invites All Americans to Come Together in Prayer and Worship Ahead of the Nation's 250th Birthday.”Todd Friel, pastor of Alpharetta Bible Church (GA), host of Wretched TV and Radio, and executive director of the Fortis Institute, joins us to discuss several aspects of Rededicate 250 and whether it can lead to Christian revival in our nation. We will also discuss one of the reasons Americans have been persuaded away from God—the college campus.-------------------------PROGRAM NOTES:Fortis+ - Christian streaming and media platform connected to Fortis Institute and the ministry of Todd Friel.Wretched Radio Wretched TVAlpharetta Bible Church

The legend himself Jack Douglas (1945-2026) shares stories from five decades of rock history — from producing John Lennon's final album to the memories Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, The Who, and his recent production of Silverplanes. Topics Include: Jack Douglas joins Nate from a snowy driveway, cigar in hand. Silverplanes' debut album Airbus is finally releasing after years of delays. Jack met Silverplanes' Aaron Smart through his college-age son. Aaron turned out to own the Sunset Boulevard studio Jack had worked in. Jeff Emerick mixed the album shortly before his sudden death in 2018. The pandemic added two more years of delay to the release. Jack and Aaron are now label partners with New York real estate billionaire Douglas Durst. Their label operates 50/50 with artists — no standard royalty deals. Signed artists include Robin Taylor Zander and the Detroit Youth Choir. Jack builds songs from a single acoustic guitar performance first. Aerosmith was different — built from the band groove up, lyrics last. Walk This Way had no lyric until a Young Frankenstein gag unlocked it. Jack started his career as a TV composer while janitoring at Record Plant. He worked on sessions that became The Who's Who's Next. Kit Lambert and Keith Moon were both, politely, out of their minds. Jack survived eccentric clients by being reliably sober and crazy simultaneously. John Lennon was the easiest artist Jack ever worked with. John would say: "I'm the artist, you're the producer — let's work like that." Jack engineered Imagine and stayed close to Lennon through the Lost Weekend years. He was in and out of the Fame sessions with Lennon and Bowie. John told Bowie: "I'm writing you the best hit you'll ever have." John knew about — and liked — Aerosmith's cover of "Come Together." George Martin gave Jack a flat in Kensington and a Morgan sportscar. Jack helped produce Ringo's "Grow Old With Me," hiding Here Comes the Sun in the strings. Double Fantasy was secretly recorded at Hit Factory, too far west for fans. John wanted a middle-of-the-road record aimed at people aged 28 to 40. Earl Slick was kept from rehearsals deliberately — a wildcard for fresh solos. Rick Nielsen discovered John's Shea Stadium Rickenbacker with the setlist still taped on. Rick later gifted John a custom all-white Rickenbacker, model 001, never cashed his check. Cheap Trick's "I'm Losing You" session was thrilling but too edgy for the album. Jack hid microphones throughout the sessions, gifting John cassettes on his birthday. Jack destroyed the tape of the last day — John had sworn him to secrecy. After John's murder, Jack and Yoko listened to vault tapes alone until dawn. Yoko later sued Jack; Phil Spector's incoherent testimony and a wig mishap followed. Jann Wenner called Jack a nobody — until Jack's lawyer read Wenner's own book aloud. The jury was out ten minutes. Jack won millions. The 2010 Stripped Down version was mixed in the exact same Record Plant room. Live at Budokan was actually Osaka — Budokan tapes were too poorly recorded. Jack rebuilt the Osaka drum kit using speaker-driven bass frequencies and filtered signals. Aerosmith's Live Bootleg was sent back to Sony unchanged after Jack faked a remix session.
