Israel Hamas Peace Deal Hamas has agreed to a ceasefire and peace plan proposed by President Donald Trump. The agreement was reportedly signed in Egypt, with multiple Arab nations participating in mediation (Qatar, Egypt, Turkey). Hostage releases are a central part of the deal, including both living captives and the return of bodies of those killed since the October 7, 2023 attacks. Trump is quoted extensively, describing this as a “historic” moment and promising a new era of peace in Gaza. The document includes reactions from families of hostages, marked by emotional gratitude toward Trump. Trump’s remarks on rebuilding Gaza and establishing a “Council of Peace” suggest a broader reconstruction initiative funded by wealthy Middle Eastern nations. The final section shifts into Trump’s domestic commentary, highlighting supposed successes in reducing crime in Washington, D.C., and comparing local peace and safety efforts to the broader Middle East peace vision.

Few traditions are more sacred than marriage, but when complicated legacies are involved, few traditions are more stressful. “The Ceremony,” celebrated playwright Mfoniso Udofia's sixth entry in the generation-spanning Ufot Family Cycle of nine plays, finds that complicated connection in the engagement between Nigerian-American Ekong Ufot and Nepali-American Lumanthi Rathi, simultaneously examining Ekong's fractured relationship with his immigrant father Disciple. We speak with the playwright and the CHUANG Stage production's two leading actors.
Democrats smear ICE as Nazis and Gestapo — and then act shocked when a leftist opens fire on a Dallas detention center. The media shrugs off the shooter’s clear motive, just like they bury the truth about the men who tried to assassinate Trump. From Charlie Kirk’s assassination to political violence normalized on the left, America is entering a dark new chapter. But out of the chaos comes revival — churches filling, faith rising, and patriots refusing to back down.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Never had Italy been more fractured in its reunification efforts than it was following the Revolutions of 1858-49 as well as the Italian Independence War. Both sides kept butting heads with one another in a tug-of-war that showed no signs of stopping. How long would the revolutionaries' struggle last? Would the Italian Peninsula ever be united? And were it so, what sort of government would ultimately be chosen? Find out in the thrilling conclusion on the Risorgimento!

OA1179 - Dr. Timothy Leary is best remembered today as the Harvard psychologist who told America to “turn on, tune in, and drop out” with psychedelics in the 1960s. But did you know that “the High Priest of LSD” was also one of the most famous people ever to bring a criminal case to the U.S.. Supreme Court? Jenessa shares her scientific perspective on Leary's “research,” and Matt explains how a minor California marijuana possession charge led to Leary's unbelievable life on the run as an international fugitive across four continents and his eventual association with not just one but three of the era's most notorious radical groups. We then review Dr. Leary's conviction under the Marihuana [sic] Tax Act of 1937 and how Leary v. U.S. changed everything about drug enforcement. (Also discussed: the unexpected origin of the Beatles song “Come Together,” the benefits of podcasting on acid, and what psychedelic research and regulation might have looked like in an alternate Leary-free timeline.) As Charles Dickens wrote at the beginning of 'A Tale of Two Cities': "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times," though for the disparate states scattered throughout the Italian Peninsula for much of the start of the 19th Century, it was more the latter. With the people demanding a unified Italy, a series of revolts (some peaceful, some not) broke out, some of which bore partial fruit with others being quickly suppressed. By the middle of the century, it seemed as if all hope of unification had been dashed, but was it really? Join for a tour through this Age of Revolutions, this week in part two on the Risorgimento!

Can religion ruin your sex life? This week on A Little Bit Culty, Sarah and Nippy are joined by psychotherapists and certified sex therapists Jeremiah Gibson and Julia Pastima—co-hosts of the podcast Sexvangelicals: The Sex Education the Church Didn't Want You to Have. Together, they explore how religion, especially purity culture and fundamentalist gender roles, can cause lasting damage to relationships and sexual well-being. From internalized shame to rigid scripts about gender and sex, Jeremiah and Julia explain how high-control religious environments affect intimacy long after someone leaves the faith. They also discuss the complexities of deconstructing religion as a couple, the importance of finding shared values, and why therapy can be a vital lifeline through it all. If you're trying to untangle your beliefs from your bedroom, this conversation offers both validation and guidance. This one's extra spicy, so listener discretion is advised. Resources mentioned in this episode: When Religion Hurts You by Dr. Laura Anderson available on her website. Description: In the span of a single year, Abby Wambach lost her beloved brother, her wife Glennon Doyle was diagnosed with anorexia, and her sister-in-law Amanda Doyle was diagnosed with breast cancer. For the first time, the trio who host the wildly popular We Can Do Hard Things podcast, all found themselves simultaneously lost, looking for answers. So they turned toward the only thing that's ever helped them find their way: deep, honest conversations with other brave, kind, wise people. What resulted from those conversations was a myriad of guideposts, words of wisdom from some of the most brilliant wayfinders in the zeitgeist today. In this episode, Jen and Amy talk with Abby and Amanda about some of the most meaningful bits of guidance that they have received from inspirational voices like Elizabeth Gilbert, Jane Fonda, Michelle Obama, Ocean Vuong, Esther Perel, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, and others that they have gathered into a new book called, We Can Do Hard Things: Answers to Life's 20 Questions. Some of the conversations they delve into include: Why are we like this? How do we figure out what we really want? How do we let go, or forgive, or get unstuck? Why do we wake up every day having forgotten everything we know? Why self-loyalty is so damn hard for women? Thought-provoking Quotes: “I'm just trying to remain a human in this political environment, in this place of deep fear where so much is at risk. And I think the way we do that is continuing to see each other as human and continuing to let our hearts break over what should break our hearts.” – Amanda Doyle “Having played on many different teams, I'm well suited to work well with others. I just have to be here and be myself. That is the way that I add value. I am not gonna add value in the way that Glennon and Amanda do. I know that. But that doesn't give me any lack of confidence because I know I bring something to the team.” – Abby Wambach “After 400 or so conversations, it was so wild that, whether we were talking to a person who's been a therapist for 40 years, or a person who's a poet, or a person who's an activist, there were just a handful of questions that all of these people are struggling with. The smartest people in the world are trying to figure out the same things that we are.” – Amanda Doyle Resources Mentioned in This Episode: Forward: A Memoir by Abby Wambach - https://amzn.to/4ckZOFi WOLFPACK: How to Come Together, Unleash Our Power, and Change the Game by Abby Wambach - https://amzn.to/4cpazqg We Can Do Hard Things: Answers to Life's 20 Questions by Glennon Doyle, Abby Wambach, and Amanda Doyle - https://amzn.to/3EfeZ6r Glennon Doyle - https://momastery.com/ Amanda Doyle Stops Keeping Score And Stays In The Moment - https://jenhatmaker.com/podcasts/series-60/amanda-doyle-stops-keeping-score-and-stays-in-the-moment/ Brené Brown - https://brenebrown.com/ Kate Bowler - https://katebowler.com/about/ Suzanne Stabile - https://suzannestabile.com/ Guest's Links: Website - https://abbywambach.com/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/abbywambach/ Twitter - https://x.com/abbywambach Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/abbywambach/ Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCej3anJvC-rSMd63asN8cXg Podcast - https://wecandohardthingspodcast.com/ Guest's Links: Twitter - https://x.com/amandafdoyle Podcast - https://wecandohardthingspodcast.com/ Connect with Jen!Jen's Website - https://jenhatmaker.com/ Jen's Instagram - https://instagram.com/jenhatmakerJen's Twitter - https://twitter.com/jenHatmaker/ Jen's Facebook - https://facebook.com/jenhatmakerJen's YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/user/JenHatmaker The For the Love Podcast is presented by Audacy.
