Today's guest on the Cryptid Creator Corner has worked in comics as both an editor and a writer since 2008. He worked for Marvel Entertainment, Image Comics, Kodansha, Viz, Vault Comics, and Wizards of the Coast. In 2018, he helped launch TKO Studios as Editor-in-Chief. It's Sebastian Girner and he's now embarked on a new endeavor with Goats Flying Press! They've already launch The Dead and the Damned #1 and #2 and The Fables of Erlking Wood. Sebastian and Jimmy discuss those 2 projects, including the stunning artwork of Kelly Williams and the incredible artistry of Juni Ba. Sebastian talks about his hopes for Goats Flying Press and previews what is coming up in 2025, including Lake Yellowwood Slaughter, described as "The “official comic adaptation” of the most infamous Italian Giallo you've never seen!" Jimmy's brother Bobby is very excited about that one after seeing the cover at Baltimore Comic-Con.   Goats Flying Press website Follow Goats Flying on Bluesky Follow Sebastian on Instagram The Fables of Erlking Woods From the publisher From Juni Ba, the unforgettable artist of Robin: The Boy Wonder, Monkey Meat, and Djeliya, and lettering by Aditya Bidikar comes a most remarkable graphic novel—a meditation on life, death, joy, regret, and the great web of stories that connects all living things. The Pedestrian is one of those gems of a comic book you find, increasingly rare for someone who works covering the industry, so I was excited to finally catch up with co-creators Joey Esposito and Sean Von Gorman. It was my favorite new series of 2024 and Jimmy was kind enough to get me a signed copy when we visited Baltimore Comic Con last fall. Nearly everyone I know was impacted by the passing of artistic legend David Lynch and the boys get into how Lynch inspired the project, delve into superhero mythologies, and the challenges and joys of developing a unique superhero who is nonverbal. We also get into some of the project's themes and share a few stories about growing up in small towns and how that experience laid the foundation for the characters to explore in their world. From the publisher Behold, The Pedestrian! A strange visitor speedwalks into Summer City and silently changes the lives of its residents. But not all is quiet in this sleepy, small town—an ancient conflict linked to the secret history of street signs is brewing! DON'T WALK... RUN! In The Pedestrian, justice always has the right of way! The collected trade hits shelves on February 11th. Don't miss what is for me the standout unique comic book of 2024. PATREON We have a new Patreon, CryptidCreatorCornerpod. I absolutely fell in love with the characters of Neesha and Gabby and had to get Jeremy on the podcast to talk about them. We also chat about The Dog Knight, The Cold Ever After, and School for Extraterrestrial Girls.  I had a great conversation with Jeremy that I know you're going to love. He also joined the editorial team for Lifeline Comics and a new Asexual & Aromantic Comic Book Anthology. Baltimore Comic Con (BCC) invited Jimmy down at the last minute to be on a panel remembering his close friend John Cassaday. Besides Jimmy, Scott Dunbier (former Wildstorm EIC), Heidi MacDonald (The Beat EIC), Albert Moy (John's art dealer) and Joe Rybandt (Dynamite Entertainment Executive Editor) were on the panel as well. They shared stories of times together, his work, how they met and more. Dean Haspiel also told a great story from the audience. Some other audience members told short stories of meeting him and how kind he was to them. We told some fun stories and some more serious ones and it got very emotional at times. You'll hear the whole panel. Thanks to Bob Harrison for hosting and big thanks to Brad Tree of BCC for everything.  Jimmy also briefly talks about his short time at the show (he only was there on Sunday) and running into mutual friends. Sharing stories, crying together, laughing together and more. It was comforting and somewhat cathartic and part of the reason he went. To be surrounded by so many of John's friends. Jimmy also comments on the show a bit as he walked around before and after the panel.  Thanks for listening.

This is the podcast episode I've been waiting for. It's all been leading up to this. I welcomed none other than my favorite writer TOM KING into the Yeti Cave to discuss his and Bilquis Evely's newest Dark Horse comic: Helen of Wyndhorn. Helen of Wyndhorn is being described as Conan the Barbarian meets The Wizard of OZ, but that doesn't quite do it justice. Bilquis Evely's art is stunning and Tom and I chat about her amazing work and how Helen ended up being their follow-up to the phenomenal Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Tom discusses his influences in writing this including gothic novels like Wuthering Heights and his deep dive into Conan comics and the life of writer Robert E. Howard. Tom and I also get a chance to chat about some of his other work and I ask him if it was a bit that when I asked at Baltimore Comic-Con he signed his novel A Once Crowded Sky: "I'm sorry." (I really loved it by the way and you should read it if you haven't). This episode of the podcast was a true joy to record, I hope you enjoy it, and be sure to get Helen of Wyndhorn #1 out March 13th.  Make sure to check out our monthly crowdfunding comics feature book: MechaTon. Hello and welcome to another exciting episode of Comic Book Yeti's Cryptid Creator Corner podcast. On today's episode I am chatting with the Founder and CEO of BlackBox Comics Dimitrios Zaharakis. I visited the BlackBox Comics booth at Baltimore Comic-Con, checked out some of their titles and picked up Dream Master #1-5 and it was fantastic. Dimitrios and I talk about how he got into comics and comic art and how that led to him starting his own publishing company. Plus we chat about some of Black Box Comics' other titles like Empath and Dead Detective. If you don't know about Black Box Comics you are definitely going to want to listen and find out and learn about some of the amazing creators scripting and drawing these comics. Be sure to check out their website after you listen to the episode. I had a wonderful chat with Dimitrios and I'm hoping for some more Dream Master issues in the future!  Make sure to check out our friends over at Sanity Damage. I should really start looking into Baltimore Comic-Con sponsoring the podcast because I've been on a fantastic run of interviewing creators I've met there and here's another with the wonderful (and tall) Charlie McElvy. Charlie and I talk about Spider-Squirrell and God Quest, working with writer Vito Delsante, and how he ended up a contestant on American Ninja Warrior (I love that show!). Of course we discuss the upcoming Kickstarter project American Yakuza and bringing on Anthony Stokes and Chris Moses as writers for that project. Charlie has been making indie comics for a while now with no signs of slowing down. It was a really fun conversation.
