Star Wars legend Mark Hamill had to come up with the darkest backstory imaginable to get himself to a dark enough place for Luke in The Last Jedi. We discuss his recent interview and look back at those tough scenes in The Last Jedi knowing what was going through his mind. We know George Lucas had plans to exile Luke as well, but the “why” was probably much different. That plus tough questions in our segment WILL OF THE FORCE and we feature your submitted ideas for what side-jobs Grogu is taking to the pay the bills before The Mandalorian and Grogu comes out! If you like having a great time talking Star Wars, you've found your home, because if you're listening to this broadcast, you are part of The Resistance!

Plausible Foolishness
Ep. 386 - Cultural Christianity

Plausible Foolishness

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 3, 2025 120:03

Cultural Christianity is bad in the Church, but really good in society. If that is true, then we need real christians in church producing culture that impacts society. We can't have fake christians and deists as our only ambassadors to the world. They will fail because they don't know Christ. They don't have the Holy Spirit within them. They don't have the Father's favor.Introduction (00:00:00 - 00:02:09)* Opening Dialogue: The hosts engage in a brief, cryptic exchange about spiritual and metaphysical questions, referencing a psychologist's inability to address good and evil without Jesus as the answer.* Podcast Welcome (00:01:05): Introduction to the Kingsplaining Podcast, self-described as the "I Told You Show," hosted by the two kings of the "Rube Empire."* Hosts introduce themselves as right-wing extremists, supernaturalists, and Christian bigots with a humorous tone.* Philosopher King: Claims 51% of the power, resides in the "Ivory Tower," and shares a satirical rumor about nicotine and caffeine producing protein.* Strong One: The "people's champ," references missing "Dusty" (a recurring figure), and emphasizes his grounded perspective.* Episode Setup: The hosts express readiness to dive into controversial topics with their signature unfiltered style.Segment 1: Marriage and Public Perception (00:02:09 - 00:08:12)* Topic: Marital disputes and public image, with a focus on French President Emmanuel Macron's alleged altercation with his spouse.* Key Points:* The hosts discuss their long marriages (15 and 19 years) and how time flies in a fulfilling relationship.* They pivot to a hypothetical marital dispute scenario, emphasizing the importance of resolving conflicts privately, especially under public scrutiny.* A controversial anecdote about Macron being “manhandled” by his “he-wife” (a derogatory reference to his spouse, Brigitte Macron) before exiting a plane, highlighting the embarrassment of public disputes.* Reference to Candace Owens' podcast, which claims Brigitte Macron is transgender, sparking a discussion about media narratives and public perception.* Comparison to Donald Trump's advice (from an interview with Elon Musk) to resolve disputes before facing the press, contrasting Macron's embarrassment with Trump's media savvy.* Themes:* Public image and political optics.* Gender roles and traditional masculinity.* Criticism of progressive narratives and media manipulation.Segment 2: Atheism and Jordan Peterson's Debate (00:08:12 - 00:29:15)* Topic: Jordan Peterson's debate with 20 atheists and his inability to defend a Christian worldview.* Key Points:* The hosts mock atheists' selective outrage against Christianity (Yahweh) while ignoring other religions like Buddhism or Islam, suggesting atheists target truth (Jesus).* Discussion of Peterson's intellectualism, labeling him a “king of gobbledygook” who relies on psychological archetypes rather than affirming Jesus as the divine truth.* Critique of Peterson's deist stance and failure to embrace Christianity fully, referencing his recent interviews and a podcast with John Rich (of Big & Rich).* The hosts argue that truth and reality are symbiotic, and atheism (like Peterson's intellectualism) abandons both by rejecting God.* Comparison to other intellectuals (e.g., Thomas Sowell, G.K. Chesterton) who critique over-educated “imbecility” and scientism (e.g., Neil deGrasse Tyson, Bill Nye).* Anecdote about Destiny (a streamer) taking his son to Auschwitz to counter Holocaust skepticism, illustrating the futility of arguing without a foundation in truth.* Themes:* Rejection of intellectualism without faith.* Defense of Christian truth as the ultimate reality.* Critique of atheism and scientism as grounded in denial.Segment 3: Cultural Shifts in Music and Media (00:21:30 - 00:24:11)* Topic: The decline of positive music and its psychological impact.* Key Points:* The Strong One shares a study claiming 99% of 1980s and 1990s music had positive lyrics (e.g., Def Leppard, Run DMC), compared to only 12% today.* Discussion of how modern music is formulaic, robotic, and degenerate, contributing to cultural decay.* Brief tangent about the hosts' music preferences (grunge, metal, country) and a humorous debate about rap as a “psyop” funded by undisclosed entities.* Themes:* Cultural degradation through media.* Nostalgia for positive cultural influences.* Suspicion of corporate agendas in entertainment.Segment 4: Toxic Masculinity and Political Alienation (01:28:10 - 01:39:19)* Topic: The Democratic Party's alienation of young men and the concept of toxic masculinity.* Key Points:* The hosts argue that Democrats have demonized masculinity, rewarding “feminine” boys and punishing natural male behavior, leading to resentment.* Critique of media and education (unionized, Democratic teachers) for promoting “toxic masculinity” narratives and undermining traditional gender roles.* Discussion of a failed Democratic campaign ad featuring “burly” men supporting Kamala Harris, mocked as inauthentic and “zesty” (a slang term for effeminate behavior).* Assertion that men have a “gaydar” (instinctual disgust toward homosexuality), backed by a cited study claiming 98% of men react negatively to same-sex displays.* Advice to Democrats: To regain male support, they must embrace America-first policies, traditional families, and stop promoting progressive ideals (e.g., abortion, transgenderism).* Themes:* Defense of traditional masculinity.* Political polarization and male disenfranchisement.* Rejection of progressive social policies.Segment 5: Entertainment as a Cultural Wake-Up Call (01:39:19 - 01:46:57)* Topic: The role of entertainment in awakening men to cultural decline.* Key Points:* The hosts pinpoint the “woke” overhaul of entertainment (e.g., Star Wars, Arnold Schwarzenegger's “Screw Your Freedoms” comment) as a turning point for men rejecting progressive narratives.* Examples include Luke Skywalker's emasculation, Rose Tico's arc in The Last Jedi, and sports controversies (e.g., NFL kneeling, pink shoes for breast cancer awareness).* Argument that men initially tolerated progressive changes to please women but rebelled when their heroes were vilified, stripping them of aspirational myths.* Connection to broader cultural hatred of masculinity and Christianity, driving men toward traditional values and faith.* Themes:* Cultural betrayal through entertainment.* Reclamation of masculine archetypes.* Spiritual awakening through cultural pushback.Segment 6: Embracing Christian Extremism and the Overton Window (01:47:00 - 01:58:08)* Topic: Rejecting compromise and embracing a radical Christian identity.* Key Points:* The Strong One declares himself a “right-wing Christian nationalist extremist,” inspired by Kanye West's song “Hail Hitler,” which he interprets as a defiant response to being labeled evil for wanting to see his children.* Critique of the Overton window as skewed toward Satan, with cultural Christianity unfairly demonized by figures like Tim Keller.* Defense of cultural Christianity outside the church as a net positive, preventing societal ills like transgenderism, abortion, and “sodomy” celebration.* Rejection of seeker-sensitive compromise, advocating for unapologetic Christian truth to shame wickedness and restore societal norms.* Examples of being demonized for rejecting COVID narratives (masks, vaccines) and public schools as “dens of Satan.”* Call to run toward Jesus without meeting the world halfway, citing Psalms 4:7-8 for peace and safety in God alone.* Themes:* Uncompromising Christian faith.* Reclamation of cultural Christianity.* Defiance against secular labels and norms.Closing (01:58:08 - 01:59:58)* Prayer (01:58:13): The Philosopher King prays for empowerment to speak truth, avoid cultural Christianity in the church, and foster a national Christian culture through the Holy Spirit.* Outro (01:59:27):* Reiteration of the podcast as the “I Told You Show” and home of the “Rube Empire,” where taxes are voluntary, and the hosts serve Jesus.* Call to action: Like, share, subscribe, buy merchandise, and support the show at Kingsplaining.com.* Sign-off: “Peace out. God bless.”Notable Quotes* “Truth and reality are symbiotic. They have to be together. You can't have truth without reality.” (00:19:15)* “I'm done trying to fit into the Overton window of right and left... I'm an extremist. Cool beans.” (00:52:17)* “I want liberty because that's what Christ died on the cross for. Freedom from sin.” (00:52:26)* “I want some of that cultural Christianity back because you wouldn't have tranny madness.” (00:54:31)* “I'm not meeting you in the middle anymore. You can look at my rear end the whole time.” (00:57:23)Themes and Tone* Core Themes: Defense of traditional masculinity, unapologetic Christian faith, rejection of progressive ideologies, and critique of cultural compromise.* Tone: Provocative, irreverent, and confrontational, with frequent use of humor, sarcasm, and derogatory language to challenge secular norms and “woke” culture.* Target Audience: Conservative Christians, particularly men, who feel alienated by modern societal shifts.Additional Notes* The podcast frequently references pop culture (e.g., Star Wars, Arnold Schwarzenegger) and political figures (e.g., Trump, Macron, Obama) to ground its arguments.* The hosts' self-described “extremism” is framed as a biblical mandate to reject compromise with a sinful world.* The show's unfiltered style is acknowledged as potentially shocking to “normies” (mainstream listeners), with Dusty (a recurring figure) cited as a moderating influence.Support the Show: Visit Kingsplaining.com to subscribe, share, or purchase merchandise.Next Episode: Tune in next week for more unfiltered commentary from the Rube Empire. When a zombie filmmaker makes you laugh so hard you forget you're talking about death and destruction, you know you're in for something special. On today's episode, we welcome Marc V. Price, a fiercely independent British filmmaker whose claim to fame is making a cult zombie feature called Colin for just £45. That alone should make you lean in. But that's just the prologue. This is a man whose journey into the heart of DIY cinema is paved not with glamour, but with grit, late-night edits, and an undying love for storytelling that's as infectiously entertaining as the virus in his debut film.Marc V. Price is a visionary guerrilla filmmaker who turns limited budgets into limitless creativity. In this profound conversation, we dive deep into the chaos, comedy, and consciousness of being an indie director who not only survived the industry's many booby traps, but did so while telling stories worth hearing. His reflections on Colin—a film made while overdrafted and eating whatever he could scrape up—are as humble as they are inspiring. What started as an experiment in shoestring storytelling exploded into a global festival darling, not because it was flashy, but because it was honest. And that's where Marc's strength lies—he doesn't pander, he creates. We drift into an epic conversation on the Star Wars universe. This isn't fanboy babble; it's an existential breakdown of myth, legacy, and the strange, often contradictory reactions that fandom provokes. Marc speaks with wit and clarity about his take on The Last Jedi, “I have a character, I have no idea where Kylo Ren is going in the next film, so I'm really interested now.” There's no arrogance in his opinion, just a deep appreciation for complexity and imperfection, a theme that winds its way through all his art.But Marc isn't just waxing poetic about galaxies far, far away. He shares the alchemy behind his newer projects—Nightshooters and A Fistful of Lead. These aren't just action flicks; they're love letters to the film crews behind the scenes. Imagine a group of low-budget filmmakers caught in a building rigged for demolition while gangsters try to kill them—forced to use their behind-the-camera skills to survive. This isn't satire, it's celebration. It's also the sort of beautiful madness only someone like Marc could conjure. What stands out most is Marc's radical respect for collaboration. He believes the true magic of filmmaking lies in giving young talent real responsibility. On his sets, interns aren't coffee runners—they're script supervisors and first ACs.This communal spirit translates into films that are textured, layered, and brimming with the energy of people who actually care. He's not just making movies; he's building a village.Even in setbacks—like getting fired from a film he poured his soul into—Marc finds the lesson, finds the momentum. Instead of sulking, he pivots. He doubles down. He makes another movie. And another. By the end of the month, he'll have two features under his belt. He's not chasing Hollywood; he's chasing the muse, armed with a battered camera, a mischievous grin, and a hell of a lot of heart. And perhaps most beautifully, Marc wears his humanity like armor. He laughs at himself, calls out his own missteps, and embraces the contradictions of the creative life. From living broke with roommates in London, to pitching ridiculous Star Wars spin-offs, to dreaming of snow-covered Westerns in the UK, he embodies what it means to stay playful—even when things get dark.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/indie-film-hustle-a-filmmaking-podcast--2664729/support.

Real Life Devon went full medieval this week with a trip to a Renaissance Fair—this one featuring permanent structures that actually looked “authentic” instead of slapped together by ye olde hot glue. There were swinging rides, wooden horses, and some legit jousting. Unfortunately, the real fantasy was thinking the kids would have fun. Big downer energy. Steven is gearing up for an Arizona trip but had to make a sudden detour into Best Buy territory after his TV gave up the ghost. On the plus side, Andor continues to be amazing and makes up for any consumer electronics woes. (It really is still that good.) Ben has seen Labyrinth (have you?), and he's here for the dream logic and David Bowie's entire vibe. Also thrown into the cinematic blender: The Island and Cliffhanger. We're now seeking out more films where geological or man-made features are basically the co-stars. Let us know if you have one. Oh, and Ben also saw the Slate all-electric pickup truck, which looked like something out of Black Mirror. Meanwhile, TVs just… work now? What a time to be alive. Future or Now Time for some spicy Star Wars takes. We got into it over which trilogy was better: the Prequels or the Sequels. Episode IX (The Rise of Skywalker) got roasted—Devon called it "the worst." Ben leaned sequel-side, arguing they're better than the prequels overall. The breakdown went something like: Prequels: bad films, good plots Sequels: good films, bad plots There were also complaints about Starkiller Base, which feels like someone said “What if Death Star, but more?” But then there's Andor, which everyone agrees is just pure excellence. So Star Wars can still be good when they let writers write. Our rankings for maximum judgment: Devon's list: The Phantom Menace, The Force Awakens, Rise of Skywalker, Attack of the Clones, The Last Jedi, Revenge of the Sith Ben's list: Rise of Skywalker, The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi Your move, Internet.

Skywalking Through Neverland: A Star Wars / Disney Fan Podcast

ANDOR Season 2 is just around the corner! But where did we leave off with Cassian and friends in Season 1? After all, it was 3 years ago. What really happened between ISB agent Dedra Meero and Imperial wanna-be Syril Karn? How was Maarva Andor weaponized?    If you don't remember, we are here to remind and prepare you for this new season that premieres on Disney+ on April 22nd. There is lots to go over especially how ANDOR crosses over with STAR WARS REBELS. We also look back at our roundtable interviews with Production Designer Luke Hull and Costume Designer Michael Wilkinson to see how their creations will add to the storytelling of ANDOR Season 2.    Today in Star Wars History 4/15/1963   Happy 63rd Birthday to Tom Kane! Tom Kane voiced hundreds of animated characters in dozens of series. To Star Wars fans he is Yoda and Admiral Yularen in The Clone Wars and did the opening newsreel narration for each episode. He also voiced Admiral Ackbar in The Last Jedi and Star Tours.    Unfortunately Tom Kane had to retire from voice acting in 2020 after a stroke.     SPONSORS   Small World Vacations is an official sponsor of Skywalking Through Neverland. Clownfish TV: Audio Edition
Star Wars Fans STILL Called Racists in 2025.

Clownfish TV: Audio Edition

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 17, 2025 22:38

The Last Jedi was 8 years ago, and the media is still calling Star Wars fans "racists" because of Kelly Marie Tran, John Boyega and The Acolyte (like, all of it.) The media and Lucasfilm are using Kelly Marie Tran and John Boyega as scapegoats to push a false narrative that Star Wars fans are racist, despite the vast majority being unfairly vilified. Hollywood and the media are weaponizing identities and blaming fans for their own stupidity and dumb choices, rather than taking responsibility for failures like those of Lucasfilm and Marvel. The entertainment industry's constant attacks on fans and their personal opinions are tanking movies and shows because people anticipate "one of those things" pushing an agenda. The media and entertainment industry are regressing to the 1950s by constantly shoving identity politics and agendas down people's throats, unfairly labeling Star Wars fans as racist. The industry's need to change characters and stories to reflect actors' personal identities is ruining movies and shows by prioritizing actors' lives over storytelling. Kelly Marie Tran's attempt to tie her new movie to the Star Wars controversy is deemed ridiculous and attention-seeking, as nobody cares about her new project. The entertainment industry's actions are making people mad at each other and hating unfairly when they didn't before, creating unnecessary division among fans. Diversity and inclusion are being used as tools to push agendas and vilify certain groups, symptomatic of a larger problem in Hollywood and the media.
