The gang brings something creepy crawly this week from Venezuela, as they review Frank Marshall's directorial debut, Arachnophobia (1990). Produced by Amblin entertainment with fingerprints of Kathleen Kennedy and Steven Spielberg, this Thrillomedy starring Jeff Daniels, Julian Sands, and John Goodman is a mainstay in 1990's creature features. Everyone knows that you kill a giant spider with fire, but is this where we learned it from? The movie was Tyler's pick and was a revisit for all three hosts, is it something you should revisit yourself? Ol' Matt and Trevor- Did Dare to Endeavor- To watch a film by Frank Marshall- Along Came Some Spiders- And they were venomous biters- To this Amblin Thrillomedy we're partial. It's the late Frank Marshall's directorial debut: Arachnophobia. Produced by Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy, the movie was branded as (god only knows why) a "Thrillomedy," seeking to give wide audiences a movie that would scare them silly. Starring Jeff Daniels, John Goodman, and Julian Sands; Arachnophobia is the PG-13 killer spider thriller that gave the heebie jeebies to younger versions of Matt and Trevor. On the film's 30th anniversary, does it hold up? Or is it a desiccated and dried up husk?
It's the end of my series of animal horror with the 1990 film Arachnophobia. Can a small town survive an onset of Venezuelan hybrid spiders? Will Dr. Ross get over his fear of spiders to save his family? Will I get enough of John Goodman? Take a listen to the new episode of the Terrible Terror Podcast!

When "Arachnophobia" was released in in 1990, advertisers were uncertain as to whether they should market the film as a thriller or a comedy. Therefore, television spots promoting the film billed it as a "thrill-omedy". Apparently, nobody saw Ghostbusters or Ghostbusters II. With Gene out traveling, Big D & Roger welcome back Kerri Gross to the podcast as they relive some of their most harrowing experiences with the movie as well as real-life encounters with arachnids. How many bugs crawl into your mouth on average per year? What happened to Rog & Gene when they were naked camping in Northern Arizona? Who would pull the ticks out of Big D's butt when he was performing survival drills in the military? Discover the answers to these questions and more in a Shat The Movies recording that will make your skin crawl!
