Bird and Bear is hosted by Taylor Rae and James Liua’ana; a couple that lives together, runs a business together and now podcasts together. Listen in on conversations they’d have even if the mic wasn’t on, all about relationships, business, money, mindset and health. A bit smart, a bit funny and a bit dumb, join them for weekly episodes that sometimes make you lol and other times make you cringe, but always entertain you in one way or another.
So we recently bought our first house are excited to finally be home owners. We talk renovation plans, things that have been unexpected so far and what it's felt like finally breaking into the property market. Then the conversation takes an unexpected turn when James jumps into story-time about how he recently had to do CPR on a neighbour who had died. We chat all about how well we think we'd do if the world ended and suddenly we had to fare for our lives as hunter-gatherers. We talk about brain vs brawn, why the world could never go fully online, and how each of us would survive fighting zombies for our lives. Instagram: https://instagram.com/itsbirdandbear
We're back (again) and jumping in for an unfiltered chat about our sex life. Chatting all about our sex cycles in our relationship and how getting out of sync meant James wanked so much that his “sex juices” ran out. Also touching on how horny Tay feels at different stages of her cycle, why what we thought James' “man period” was actually Bipolar, our sex fantasies and what we dirty talk about. Something we've recently realised is that there's a few things mindset and habit wise we'd let slip a little over the last year and a half with so much of that time in lockdown. We both felt like it was time to set some some goals to “glow up” over the next six months, so we discussed each of our plans and what we're changing. We also share our tips for keeping a positive mindset when things go wrong, and how focusing on the little things you can control, is what gets you through when things aren't going to plan. We recorded a little birthday treat, on the eve of James' 35th birthday. As he gets another year older (and in his words, wiser) we discuss what we've learnt over time, whether wisdom comes with age, how we've each changed in the last ten years, and whether we think age really matters or not. We also discuss our thoughts on mid-life crises, how you have the power to change your life, and James' life-long goal to be a grumpy old grandpa. Happy birthday to the bear! So we want to know, do you fart in front of your partner? Or do you poo in front of your significant other? Are you afraid to poop in front of your boyfriend, or is it normal to watch your partner do a poop? Find out what we do in our home, our thoughts on “girls not farting” and whether we think it's weird to poop in front of your significant other or not. Instagram & TikTok: @itsbirdandbear
We've missed you! We're back from probably the world's longest hiatus, and not going to lie - we're a little rusty. Please bear (get it) with us in this episode as we get the old podcasting wheels rolling again. We jump around in a LOT of random topics - lockdown life, career updates, some mindset stuff, and a whole lot of other odd things. All in all we're just happy to be back and we're looking forward to seeing you back for weekly episodes! Instagram & TikTok: @itsbirdandbear
Something we focus on is being really intentional with our time. If you ever thought couples are out there spending all their time together, we're here to set the record straight. We're giving you an inside look at what our week really looks like, and why we started doing something we call ‘Sacred Sundays' to make sure we were getting quality time together. It's been great for our relationship and for us as individuals - so whether you're in a relationship or single - this will give you an insight to prioritising quality time, filling your cup, and doing things that bring you joy. The last month has been a big re-learning for us both individually and as a couple. In this episode, James shares his mental health diagnosis and how he's navigating the journey of being diagnosed with severe ADHD and Bipolar Type 2. We discuss how finding out about it has changed things in our relationship, and how both of us are communicating, learning and expanding together through this journey. We're telling you now, this episode is an emotional one. If you didn't already know, the last month or so has been a big one for us. We went through one of the hardest times of our life, almost broke up, and have learnt a lot about ourselves both individually and as a couple. In this episode we are holding nothing back and sharing with you exactly what went on, why we got to that point, and how it's helped us both to grow so much since. Instagram & TikTok: @itsbirdandbear
If you didn't know, James is actually real-life besties with his ex-girlfriend Bex. In this episode, we're chatting all about what it was like when we first talked about it, what went down when we all met for the first time, and what our relationship is like now. Instagram & TikTok: @itsbirdandbear
We were actually quite surprised at the direction this episode went. We started off doing a weekly wrap and ended up diving down a deep hole where we talked about periods, PMS, Man Periods, why we think having sex makes us better as a couple, and how James got judged by a hot chick in the elevator for a fart he didn't do. Instagram & TikTok: @itsbirdandbear
Tay thought it would be a fun idea to take a relationship compatibility quiz by Shan Boody. The quiz determines your ideal relationship style from open, to polyamory to monogamy and everything in between. Listen to find out our results, if we are compatible and how we keep communication open in our relationship. Instagram & TikTok: @itsbirdandbear Link to the quiz we took: https://www.thegameofdesire.com/commitment
We give you the lowdown on Tay's neck issues, why James is way too excited to head back to the gym, how we FINALLY sorted an Instagram account and a recent convo we had about failure and why we actually see it as a good thing. Instagram & TikTok: @itsbirdandbear
This episode is definitely our most annoying one yet (that's Tay's opinion). Listen in as we basically have a fight about the importance of honesty online and zig zag between requesting sponsors, cool haircuts, hip hop workouts at home and a lot of other weird topics that hopefully you find interesting. James lost a whole bunch of weight in quarantine, and it wasn't from doing workouts from home. We're chatting all about tracking your macros, losing weight without working out more, and why you need to be aware of calories in vs calories out. It might feel a little tough to start out but we promise, if there's a will there's a way (and we're sharing the way that's worked for us.) Instagram & TikTok: @itsbirdandbear
We're breaking down our most recent fight, how Tay worried she might be a narcissist and what we learnt from watching The Last Dance. We chat about James's little boy undies, how we're having more sex, and dad jokes that will make you lol. Instagram & TikTok: @itsbirdandbear
This is an episode on how to make quarantine not suck. For real though, we dive into how we're handling #quarantinelife, covering off routines, mindset, communication as a couple and staying in touch with others. Instagram & TikTok: @itsbirdandbear
We thought it might be important for you to know who you're listening to. Get to know us a little better as we break down who we are, why we're doing this, and how we hope you stick around. Instagram & TikTok: @itsbirdandbear
So you might be wondering what the hell Bird & Bear actually means and to be honest, so are we. Here’s how we came up with the name for the podcast and how we’re hoping if you start shit it can’t get any worse from there.
