America's Work Force Union Podcast brings together two conversations spanning American history, retirement security and a fight over who controls your Medicare coverage. American Legion Media and Communications Director Henry Howard opens with a recap of how the Legion marked America's 250th anniversary, including a reenactment of the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence in Lansing, Michigan on July 8, the date Colonel Nixon first read the document publicly in 1776. Howard also covers the conclusion of the USA 250 Challenge, which engaged more than 3,100 American Legion family members over the past year in fitness, wellness and community service, and a historic flag escort by American Legion riders from Pittsburgh to Arlington on July 4. He then previews the August edition of the American Legion magazine, which highlights ten notable American inventions that shaped the world and honors the late Diane Carlson Evans, the Vietnam combat nurse who led the decades-long fight to establish the Vietnam Women's Memorial on the National Mall. Then, Ohio Alliance for Retired Americans State Director Norm Wernet discusses two developments directly affecting retirees and disabled workers. The first is bipartisan momentum to scrap the Social Security earnings cap following a joint op-ed from Sen. Bernie Moreno and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, and what that step would do to address the 2032 Social Security funding cliff. The second is the WISeR program, a pilot AI prior authorization program now running in Ohio and six other states that is delaying and denying Medicare Advantage coverage with a financial incentive built into the algorithm to keep saying no. Little Book Chapter 10 “All the Wiser” is the 10th release in the brand's Chapter line, and it pays respect to Little Book Chapter 3: "The Road Home" and the company's Small Batch Collection. Chapter 3 was a blend of bourbons: 9 year old Knob Creek, 9 year old Basil Hayden, 11 year old Booker's, and 12 year old Baker's. Like Chapter 10, that blend was bottled uncut at 122.6 proof. For the current release, Master Distiller Freddie Noe takes the same approach but shuffles the age of each component, while also throwing in a finished component. The end result is a blend of 11 year old Knob Creek, 14 year old Basil Hayden, 10 year old Booker's, 9 year old Baker's, and 4 year old Jim Beam finished in sherry and toasted casks. Chapter 10 is also bottled at 122.6 proof. Cheers!

When Angel Santana and Dr. E reunite after a month-long sabbatical, a simple conversation about aging turns into a warm, humorous, and deeply human journey. Between a tall tale of Himalayan misadventure, a 40-foot shark slide, and the memory of a father born on the Fourth of July, the hosts explore how the body may weaken but the spirit can grow stronger. They trade jokes and confessions, wrestle with the slippery promise of change, and face the real test—the ‘fourth day' when retreat meets reality. Through prayer, honest reflection, and friendship, they invite you to witness a moment of renewal and to take faith into an often-chaotic world. Listen in for a short, uplifting episode that blends humor, humility, and hope—an encouraging reminder that while we may not be as young as we once were, our faith can be deeper than ever.

Welcome back to the Bourbon Road Bar, where Jim and Todd settle in for a five-bottle session packed with limited releases, aged expressions, and a little bit of everything the whiskey world has to offer right now. Tonight's lineup spans wheat whiskey, high-rye bourbon, east-coast rye, and some serious Beam family heavy-hitters — all barrel strength, all worthy of serious attention. On the Tasting Mat: - Makers Mark Star Hill Farms Wheat Whiskey 2026: A 116.4-proof wheat whiskey bottled at 700ml, featuring a revised mash bill of 62% malted wheat, 27% wheat, and 11% malted barley — including undisclosed amounts of hard red and hard white wheat, plus experimental barrels pulled from three warehouses with a 20-point proof swing. Aged 7–8 years. The nose opens with earthy cherry, turkey figs, and dark fruit, while the palate delivers an oily, velvety texture with baking spices, vanilla, and a distinctive wheat whiskey bite on the back of the palate. MSRP $100. *(00:01:48)* - New Riff 10 Year Bourbon 2026: Bottled at 116.9 proof from a mash bill of 65% corn, 30% rye, and 5% malted barley, this Kentucky bourbon offers a nose of caramel, vanilla, and baking spices with a hint of root beer. On the palate, a honeyed peach and dried apricot character emerges alongside tobacco, leather, and mature oak — drying toward the finish with impressive length. Available at New Riff Distillery and to whiskey club members. MSRP $89.99. *(00:09:50)* - New Riff 10 Year Rye 2026: A 95% rye, 5% malted barley mash bill bottled at 118.8 proof, this east-coast rye comes in at the same price point of $89.99. The nose is immediately striking — spearmint, pine forest, citrus zest, and dried orange. The palate is exceptionally thick and viscous, carrying the mint and zest through with clove, pine nut, and a cooling quality that gives way to a long, peppery oak finish. Available at New Riff Distillery and to whiskey club members. *(00:17:00)* - Little Book Chapter 10 "All the Wiser" 2026: Freddie Noe's tenth Little Book chapter is an homage to the beloved Chapter 3 "The Road Home," blending 11-year Knob Creek, 14-year Basil Hayden, 10-year Booker's, 9-year Baker's, and a 4-year Jim Beam finished in sherry and toasted casks — all uncut at 122.6 proof. The nose is rich and mahogany-dark with vanilla, nuttiness, and a subtle sherry influence. The palate is decadent: dark Luxardo cherry, chocolate, snicker-like nuttiness, molasses, and a long, spicy, sizzling finish that simply refuses to leave. MSRP $160 for 750ml. *(00:27:17)* - Booker's 2026-01 "Big Easy Batch": The first Booker's batch of 2026, named in honor of Booker Noe's legendary love of New Orleans, is aged 7 years, 2 months, and 15 days at a big 129.1 proof. Mash bill is 77% corn, 13% rye, and 10% malted barley. The nose presents caramel apple, green apple, and pie crust. On the palate, a perfectly cooked caramel apple pie character develops with a noticeable fruitiness that runs a bit off the typical Booker's nutty profile — finishing with warmth and spice. MSRP $100 for 750ml. *(00:37:14)* Five barrel-strength pours, two distilleries, and one very tough call at the end — this is the kind of evening that makes the Bourbon Road Bar worth pulling up a stool for. Whether you're hunting shelf staples or chasing limited releases, tonight's lineup has something to put on your radar. As always, check out the full tasting notes and scores over at TheBourbon Road.com, and we'll see you down the Bourbon Road.

The Influential Personal Brand Podcast

Rory and AJ are using this episode as a personal year-end review, but for listeners, it works just as well as a midyear check-in.     In this conversation, they look back on the last 12 months and share what they learned, what they are leaving behind, and what they are taking forward. The lessons are candid and practical: leadership mistakes, sales process changes, retention challenges, team development, and the hard reality that many business problems start with the person leading the business.     Rory shares what surprised him about the Wealthy and Well-Known book launch, why live webinars became a renewed focus, and how violating a core sales principle hurt the business. AJ shares what she learned about reactive leadership, putting people into roles before they are ready, and why a good leader does not say yes to every idea their team has.     They also answer a community question about preparing for an important presentation and share one of the simplest ways to make a speech stronger before you ever start writing it.    If you are reflecting on your year, your leadership, your team, or your next season of growth, this episode will help you ask better questions and take more ownership of what comes next.

Staying safe during extreme heat Dangerous, record-breaking heat has hit much of the nation this week, with the National Weather Service issuing an Extreme Heat Warning for the state of Ohio lasting until Thursday night. Many outdoor events have been canceled due to safety. The City of Cleveland canceled all youth outdoor sports through Friday, a Wade Oval Wednesday concert was canceled in University Circle, and the Cleveland Orchestra's free concert at Cain Park has been postponed, all due to dangerous conditions. This week, temperatures have hit the mid-to-high 90s, and Thursday the humidity will make the temperature feel as high as 107 degrees. To try to combat the heat, many cooling centers have opened around the region. We'll start Thursday's "Sound of Ideas" talking about how can to protect ourselves from heat-related injuries this week and throughout the summer. And, ahead of one of the most injury-prone holidays in the U.S., we'll ask our experts about staying safe this Fourth of July holiday. Guests: - Ellen Kazimer, Administrative Commander & Public Information Officer, Cleveland EMS - Tamanna Singh, M.D., Director, Sports Cardiology Center & Co-Founder & Co-Director, Women's Integrated Sports, Exercise, & Research Center, Cleveland Clinic & Volunteer, American Heart Association Medicare Pilot Program Ohio is one of six states testing out a Medicare pilot program that the federal government hopes will reduce fraud or waste in the system. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services program WISeR, or Wasteful and Inappropriate Service Reduction, adds prior authorization for certain services that the government deems costly and unnecessary, and it operates using artificial intelligence. The government says the program will save money at the federal level and protect patients from unneeded care, but critics say its rollout since January has been rocky, leading to errors or delayed care, and reimbursement delays of up to 8 weeks to healthcare providers. An audience member inspired us to look more into this program on a show last week about aging well. Anita in Cleveland Heights called and said she was a senior on traditional Medicare and was shocked to discover after the fact that she needed pre-approval from her insurance to see certain doctors, and was facing a hefty bill that she would now need to appeal. Guests: - Gary Katz, M.D., President, Ohio State Medical Association - Darius Tahir, Correspondent, KFF Health News Ohio Revolutionary War graves As America approaches its 250th birthday, Americans are paying a bit more attention the country's founding, and the events surrounding 1776. Over the last year, more than 500 Ohioans volunteering their time took part in collecting data about those who actually served in the Revolutionary War. The Revolutionary War Graves Identification Project was an undertaking from the Ohio History Connection with the purpose of verifying and documenting the final resting places of those veterans buried in Ohio. Ideastream's Drew Maziasz spoke with Krista Horrocks from the Ohio History Connection about the graves project. The final public release of the grave survey will come out on July 4. Today we are speaking with the founder of the first all female competition the Nashville fit show and the natural titans as well as a posing and prep coach, speaker, author, wife, and mother. She is a bikini Olympian with an incredible story triumphing over abuse after an ex attempted to run her over with his car and being told she wouldn't be able to continue bodybuilding to persisting, becoming a pro, and beating the odds. She also hosts awesome retreats with her style, as well as workshops and events and has some really cool experiences she is offering to the industry that have never been done before. Here to talk about all of that and more I Welcome to the show Whitney wiser savage how are you doing?!   Whitney's Personal Journey Whitney discussed surviving an abusive relationship and a devastating car accident that resulted in spinal injuries requiring emergency surgery and spinal fusion. Despite being told that returning to competition was unlikely, Whitney remained determined and eventually returned to the stage, earning an IFBB Pro card at the 2014 USA Championships and later qualifying for the Olympia. Whitney emphasized that setbacks and repeated near-misses ultimately provided valuable lessons that now help inform coaching and mentoring. Building the Nashville Fit Show Whitney explained how the idea for the first all-women's bodybuilding competition came from a vision to create a more comfortable and welcoming environment for female athletes. Support from the fitness community helped bring the concept to life, while event promotion also required navigating financial and operational challenges. Whitney highlighted the strong sense of community built through NPC Tennessee over many years of promoting events. The Fit Show Story Project Whitney shared details about the Fit Show Story Project, launched in 2020 to empower women through storytelling. Participants submit stories about overcoming adversity, finalists create video submissions, and a winner is selected based on impact and personal connection. The initiative continues to grow, with selected stories featured on the Nashville Fit Show website and plans for a special guest presenter at this year's award ceremony. Upcoming Events Fit Show Forum Workshop — June 27, 2026 The educational workshop is designed to help competitors prepare for the stage and will cover: Hair and makeup preparation Tanning guidance Judging criteria education Hands-on judging practice using scorecards Confidence-building support Mental health and post-show transition discussions Celeste is scheduled to speak on mental health, and additional experts, including a hypnotherapist, will contribute educational sessions. Nashville Fit Show Post-Show Brunch — August 16, 2026 A new post-show brunch will take place the day after the Nashville Fit Show and will focus on education and community. Topics include: Understanding judges' feedback Mental health discussions Nutrition guidance Networking opportunities Registration is expected to open June 1, 2026, with limited attendance available. Coaching, Posing, and Judging Insights Whitney discussed how posing standards and techniques have evolved over time, especially with the introduction of the Fit Model division. While more information is available than ever before, Whitney noted that not all guidance is accurate, making quality coaching and a solid understanding of official judging criteria increasingly important. Experience as a judge has also shaped the advice provided to athletes regarding posing and stage presentation. Motherhood and Work-Life Balance Whitney reflected on balancing entrepreneurship, fitness, and motherhood. Early years of parenting brought challenges that required adjusting fitness goals and expectations. Whitney emphasized the importance of self-compassion during those periods. Today, responsibilities are managed through long-term planning, prioritization, and maintaining focus on both family and business growth. Key Takeaways Resilience through adversity Learning from setbacks rather than fearing them Building supportive communities for women in fitness Using personal stories to inspire others Viewing every competition as a learning experience Prioritizing education, preparation, and long-term growth over short-term outcomes The overall message was that success comes from persistence, faith, continuous learning, and the willingness to keep moving forward despite obstacles.   CONNECT WITH WHITNEY: Websites: COME TO THE UPCOMING FORUM ON JUNE 27TH with Whitney and Celeste: https://wiserfit.mykajabi.com/fitshowforum2 NASHVILLE FIT SHOW: https://www.nashvillefitshow.com/ POST-SHOW BRUNCH: https://www.nashvillefitshow.com/nfsbrunch YOUTUBE COACHING: WISERPREP.COM POSING: https://wiser.fit/posing RETREATS: https://www.instagram.com/herstyleevents/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/whitneywiserfit/ AND https://www.instagram.com/wiserprep/ CONNECT WITH CELESTE: Website:http://www.celestial.fit Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/celestial_fit/ All Links:http://www.celestial.fit/links.html

Get ready for another unforgettable episode of the Wise_N_Nerdy podcast as Charles and Joe welcome back returning guest Todd Sarner for a conversation packed with gaming debates, parenting wisdom, music industry stories, anime discussions, and the kind of chaotic humor fans have come to love. The episode kicks off with the Question of the Week: “Do you like that games do cosmetic-only purchases, or would you prefer game-changing content?” The hosts quickly find common ground, passionately agreeing that games should never allow players to buy a competitive advantage. From battle passes to microtransactions, the discussion dives into the modern gaming landscape and why cosmetic-only monetization feels far more fair to players who value skill and balance over pay-to-win mechanics. With the traditional roll of the dice, the episode launches into a barrage of Bad Dad Jokes, courtesy of Joe's middle child, Bob. The jokes come fast, the groans come faster, and the entire segment perfectly captures the wholesome chaos that defines Wise_N_Nerdy humor. Next comes the heartfelt “How Do I…?” segment, where the hosts discuss an important topic for parents everywhere: not letting pride get in the way of being a good parent. Through honest conversation and personal insight, Charles, Joe, and Todd explore how humility, communication, and admitting mistakes can strengthen relationships with your kids and help families grow together. The dice then guide the show into the thoughtful “Parliament of Papas” segment, featuring a question from community member MithrilBiata about fostering independence for a cousin with AuDHD. The hosts approach the discussion with empathy and care, sharing perspectives on encouragement, patience, and creating supportive environments that empower neurodivergent individuals while still respecting their unique challenges and strengths. From there, the episode shifts into the fan-favorite “Daddy, Tell Me A Story” segment, where Todd Sarner shares incredible memories from his time working as a roadie for Metallica. From behind-the-scenes chaos to unforgettable concert experiences, Todd's stories offer a rare glimpse into life on the road with one of the biggest bands in music history. Finally, the episode wraps up with the always entertaining “What Are You Nerding Out About?” segment. Joe shares his excitement about setting up a Raspberry Pi project to host a bot he created for the Digital Media Track Discord server. The bot, hilariously named Quasar—short for Questionably Useful Automated Scheduling Assistant Robot—perfectly embodies the nerdy creativity at the heart of the show. Meanwhile, Todd talks about using manga as a tool to improve his Japanese language skills, specifically mentioning Erased. In a perfect moment of synchronicity, Charles reveals that he had just finished watching the Erased adaptation that same week. Charles also shares exciting updates about how things are finally coming together between his six-month contract work and his Sunday morning gig, bringing the episode to a hopeful and uplifting conclusion. This episode is a perfect blend of gaming culture, fatherhood, fandom, humor, and heartfelt conversation. Whether you're here for the nerdy discussions, the parenting insights, or Todd's incredible stories from the music world, there's something for everyone. How often have you heard masculinity described as “toxic”, “fragile”, or “in a crisis”? JJ Bola - writer, former youth worker, and UNHCR Ambassador - tries to go deeper in understanding how society is failing boys and men. In this episode, JJ Bola describes masculinity as a performance that we require boys to learn; along the way stifling their individuality and emotional health. Different societies have different myths about masculinity, and JJ Bola is able to draw on his experiences as a Congolese man growing up in London to show how diverse these ideas are. If we could discard the performance of masculinity and allow boys to grow up free and to be who they are, we are likely to see the benefits in love and sex, politics, competitive sports and mental health.  JJ Bola was born in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He grew up in London and has written two novels - No Place to Call Home and The Selfless Act Of Breathing - as well as three collections of poetry - Elevate, Daughter of the Sun and WORD -  and a non-fiction book about masculinity and the patriarchy, Mask Off: Masculinity Redefined.   After months of walking through grief, surrender, shame, boundaries, courage, renewal, and unresolved pain, we come to one final question in the Still Faithful series: Can new life still come from this? In this closing episode, we talk about hope — not the kind that demands immediate answers or guaranteed outcomes, but the kind that trusts God is still present and still capable of bringing life, even in difficult and unfinished stories. This conversation is for the parent who feels weary, uncertain, or afraid to hope again. It is a reminder that redemption does not erase pain, and that God often brings restoration in quieter and deeper ways than we expect. As this series comes to a close, we also begin looking ahead toward what it means to walk wisely through ongoing relationships, emotions, and decisions with greater steadiness and discernment. In this episode, we explore: • Why painful parenting seasons can make hope feel fragile • God's pattern of bringing life from places that feel barren • Why redemption does not minimize or erase grief • What "new life" may actually look like in unresolved stories • Learning to entrust both wounds and hope to God • How healing often begins in the parent, not just the circumstances • Transitioning from survival into wisdom and grounded living Reflection Questions • Where do I long to believe that new life is possible? • What might resurrection look like in my story — even in small ways? • What am I willing to entrust to God again? A Gentle Reminder Healing is not only about what happens around us. Sometimes healing begins in how we stand: Steadier. Softer. Wiser. More grounded in God. Looking Ahead In the upcoming Walking Wisely series, we'll begin exploring: • How to discern God's voice when emotions are loud • How fear and guilt shape parenting decisions • Emotional steadiness in difficult relationships • Grounded, faith-filled decision-making • Learning to move forward wisely in unresolved situations Because faithfulness is not only about surviving hard seasons. It is also about learning how to live wisely inside them. From a senior corporate career to coaching, festivals, and a master's degree - Kelly Keating's story is about what happens when you stop letting life happen to you and start designing it deliberately. Anna Lundberg talks with the founder of Wild and Wiser about building a portfolio life after 40, navigating the financial realities of leaving a stable career, and why "enough" looks very different when your values are finally doing the driving. Key takeaways: Success on your own terms takes time to define. Kelly's shift came not from burnout or crisis, but from a gradual deepening of self-awareness through coach training, parenthood, and a late ADHD diagnosis - all of which changed what she was willing to tolerate. The try-before-you-buy approach to leaving corporate. By building her coaching practice part-time over eight years while still employed, Kelly made the leap with far less financial and psychological risk than if she'd jumped cold. The financial case for leaving is often stronger than it looks. Most people never sit down and properly do the maths. Kelly found that stripping out the "emotional spending" that comes with an unfulfilling job made the numbers far more workable. Portfolio working is a season, not a system. Between coaching clients, associate work, a master's degree, and a festival she's launching, Kelly's week looks different to most - and that's entirely the point. Freedom and flexibility aren't the same thing. Kelly is arguably working more hours than ever, but the nature of those hours - the variety, the autonomy, the alignment with her values - is what makes the difference. If Kelly's story has you thinking about your own next chapter, a good first step is a conversation. Book a free clarity call with Anna at onestepoutside.com/call.

Leave an Amazon Rating or Review for my New York Times Bestselling book, Make Money Easy! Check out the full episode: https://greatness.lnk.to/1913DM For decades, Andrew Weil chased love in the wrong place. In other people. While ignoring the foundation that had to come first: loving himself. He dropped out of medicine when people thought he was crazy, explored unconventional paths, and got zero reinforcement from the world. Then came years of depression. The shift happened gradually in his 40s. Physical activity. Diet changes. Meditation and breathing practice. A natural maturation that came with age. The depression lifted. And with it came a clarity he'd never had before: he could finally say no to things and people that didn't serve him. What surprised him most? Getting older isn't decline. It's deepening. People become more complex, more resilient, less easily thrown off balance. They build equilibrium. They access wisdom. And if we actually valued older people instead of shutting them away, we'd realize they're repositories of something we desperately need. Fueling Deals
Episode 398: Building a Business Partnership That Lasts with Leah and Becca Wiser

Fueling Deals

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 8, 2026 46:30

From printing a pitch deck in 8th grade to accidentally raising their first angel investment, building a 100,000-person wellness app with no salary for five years, and pivoting into a web design business that has launched over 100 sites, Leah and Becca Wiser share what it takes to build a business partnership that holds up under real pressure. In this episode of the DealQuest Podcast, host Corey Kupfer sits down with Leah and Becca Wiser, twin sisters and co-founders of A Wiser Website, a concierge web design and brand strategy firm for service-based businesses. Having founded three companies together in the digital space, they bring a hard-earned perspective on co-founder dynamics, capital raising without a formal process, and knowing when a chapter has run its course. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: In this episode, you will discover why the most effective first pitch is often a conversation, how twins with completely different working styles built a co-founder structure around those differences, and why defined boundaries between personal and professional time are operational infrastructure, not just personal preference. Leah and Becca explain the brownie split trap that quietly erodes partnerships, how five years of building a free app with no salary led to a stronger second business, and why asking for advice instead of money produced their first investment. LEAH AND BECCA'S JOURNEY: Leah and Becca Wiser grew up in South Florida surrounded by women who built businesses from scratch. Their mother, grandmother, and aunt Jennifer, who started a jewelry company in her child's playroom, all modeled entrepreneurship as a natural path. At 12, Leah and Becca were joining their aunt at trunk shows, watching hands-on client relationships drive sales. They have never held standard jobs. Their first real deal came in 8th grade, when they printed a full pitch deck to convince their parents they were responsible enough for cell phones. The idea came from watching TED Talks, which their parents required before any screen time. Watching others present and persuade translated, without them recognizing it yet, into a natural instinct to negotiate with preparation. THE CO-FOUNDER DEAL: Being identical twins did not insulate Leah and Becca from co-founder friction. About four years into their first major company, they questioned whether continuing made sense. Their solution was what they call business therapy, working with coaches who gave them language for their different working styles and a structure for honest communication. Leah tends toward detail, design, and execution. Becca handles client relationships, operations, and the outward-facing work. Once named and understood, those differences became their competitive advantage rather than their friction point. KEY INSIGHTS: The brownie split traps business partnerships. When co-founders begin tracking contributions the way children measure whether a brownie was cut perfectly in half, the focus shifts from outcomes to optics. Value comes in waves. A partnership built on flexibility and mutual trust outlasts one where each side keeps score. Asking for advice produces investment faster than asking for investment. When Leah, Becca, and their younger sister Hannah began developing Wumaze in 2017, they went to two people they knew for guidance on a rough early idea, not for funding. Those people saw their passion and invested. As Corey noted in this episode: when you ask for money, you get advice, and when you ask for advice, you get money. Defined containers for personal and professional time protect both. Leah and Becca live and work together in Washington, D.C. Without explicit structure around when it is business time and when it is sister time, both suffer. These are not personal accommodations. They are the structural boundaries that make the partnership sustainable. Pivoting is not failure when the evidence supports it. After five years building Wumaze with no salary and growing its community to over 100,000 users, Leah and Becca recognized it was time to move on. The skills they built during that period transferred directly into A Wiser Website. Brian sits down with life coach and motivational speaker Valorie Burton to talk about what it really takes to endure pressure — and come out wiser and stronger on the other side. Valorie breaks resilience down into a learnable, diagnosable system: adaptive skills (what's happening inside you), protective resources (what you can draw on), and preventive measures (the proactive choices that reduce future stress). In the second part of the podcast, Anna Buffini, Buffini & Company's Social Media Manager, (and Brian's daughter) asks Valorie questions previously submitted by Buffini clients about the challenges they're currently facing. YOU WILL LEARN: How to build a resilience system with adaptive skills, protective resources, and preventive measures. A simple process to interrupt rumination and replace unhelpful thoughts with strengthening ones. How to discern when to grit and when to quit — the difference between “hard” and “burdensome.” MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE: The Brian Buffini ShowRules of Resilience: 10 Ways Successful People Get Better, Wiser, and Stronger, by Valorie Burton NOTEWORTHY QUOTES FROM THIS EPISODE: “We also need resilience when the opportunity is in front of us...it's also necessary for success.” — Valorie Burton “What a system also does is it helps you diagnose — where you could strengthen elements of your system that would lift you to the level where you need to be.” — Valorie Burton “The most important adaptive skill to have is thought awareness.” — Valorie Burton “When you start saying different things to yourself, it results in different choices and different actions.” — Valorie Burton “Coach yourself with that question — “What am I saying?' Write it down. Write down the most persistent thought.” — Valorie Burton Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
