Mark visits Greenhead Moss Community Nature Park in Wishaw. The 100-hectare site contains many different habitats including ponds, wildflower meadows and woodlands. He takes a tour with countryside ranger Derek. Deveron Wildland is a newly established rewilding estate in Aberdeenshire. Rachel went for a visit to hear about what the plans are for the site as well as to try her hand at nature journalling. When Mark visited Maud Railway Museum earlier in the summer, he was surprised to find that one of their exhibits is a fully restored Peterhead Prison convict carriage. He takes a look inside and hears about the interesting history of the prison wagon. The Scottish National Sheepdog Trials are being held in Perthshire at the moment. These trials are a precursor to the World Sheepdog Trials coming to the Scottish Borders next month. Rachel went along to Glenfarg to chat to some of those involved and watch the impressive dogs at work. And with sheepdogs and shepherds in mind, Stuart McFarlane recently went along to a workshop run by the Scottish Crookmakers Association in Durisdeer Village Hall. The association is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year and Stuart hears about the history and traditions of crook making. Rachel meets another of the finalists in the Environmental category of BBC Scotland's Make a Difference awards. Alex Watson is a litter picker and social media filmmaker based in Dundee, and he tells Rachel about why he got involved in clearing up his local community. And as the Tay Road Bridge celebrates its 60th anniversary this week, Mark hears about the ferries which linked Dundee and Fife before the bridge was opened in 1966. He meets Mairi Shiels from the Newport History Group who tells him about the various boats that ran the different routes across the Tay.And in this week's Scotland Outdoors podcast, Helen Needham digs into the BBC Archive back to the 1960s to explore Snowy Owls on Fetlar, Thatching in Aberdeenshire and a Tree Loving Tramp in the Highlands. We hear an excerpt.

Foto: © IRIS FRIEDRICH PHOTOGRAPHYQuellen & Links: 4 Erholungsformen:Sonnentag, S., & Fritz, C. Stassi shares what it took to get the show green-lit after three and a half years, why this series is unlike anything she's done before, and how reality TV and social media have completely changed since she first stepped into the spotlight. We also discuss how she rebuilt her confidence during some of the darkest moments of her career, why you have to be "a little delulu" to achieve big goals, and the mindset that's helped her keep moving forward. Stassi also opens up about how motherhood has changed her ambition, balancing multiple businesses while raising two kids, staying creatively inspired, creating a life on her own terms, and the simple style formula that helps her feel put together as a busy mom. Whether you're navigating a career pivot, chasing a big dream, or simply looking for an honest conversation about reinvention, confidence, and success, this episode is full of practical advice and inspiring stories. Cheating can break trust, destroy relationships, and leave emotional scars—but is it possible for someone to truly change after they've cheated? On this episode of the Men Don't Know Podcast, Chris is joined by Laura (The Hairdresser) and Tay for an honest, emotional, and sometimes controversial conversation about whether a relationship can survive infidelity. Can people genuinely change after cheating, or are they bound to repeat the same mistakes? Is forgiveness a sign of strength—or a setup for more heartbreak? We explore what accountability really looks like, whether trust can ever be fully restored, and what it takes for a relationship to move forward after betrayal. From both the male and female perspective, we tackle one of the biggest relationship questions of all time.

Fellas, why are we being held accountable for the toxic behavior of men we've never met? The crew dives into whether reality TV is creating unrealistic expectations, trust issues, and relationship arguments—or if it's actually helping people recognize red flags before it's too late. Is it fair to compare your partner to someone on television? Should reality dating shows influence how we view relationships? And how much of what we watch is real versus entertainment? Amsterdam became the centre of the European cocktail world, with pop-ups, parties, brand activations and some of the best bartenders in Europe gathering across the city.Athens had a huge showing, with Line taking the No.1 spot and The Bar in Front of The Bar coming in at No.2, underlining just how strong the Greek cocktail scene has become.London remains a major force in the best bars in Europe conversation, with bars including The Connaught Bar, Satan's Whiskers, Tayēr + Elementary, Panda & Sons, Waltz, Kwãnt Mayfair, Three Sheets Soho and Scarfes Bar all appearing on the list.Panda & Sons deserve a special mention, coming in at No.20 and also picking up the Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu Award.Barcelona continues to be one of Europe's most important cocktail cities, with Sips, Paradiso, Aldea, Boadas, Foco and others showing the depth of the city's bar scene.Central and Eastern Europe are becoming increasingly important on the cocktail map, with strong placements from bars in Bratislava, Tirana, Prague and Krakow.Sustainability, fermentation, low-waste practices, hyper-local ingredients and strong storytelling are clearly shaping modern cocktail culture. At the same time, the best cocktail bars are still the ones that combine technical skill with warmth, simplicity, personality, atmosphere and genuine hospitality.HighlightsLanding in a sun-soaked Amsterdam and heading straight into a packed few days of cocktail events.Visiting Advocatuur at Rosewood Amsterdam, a beautiful cocktail bar inside the former Palace of Justice, with thoughtful drinks, warm hospitality and a strong sense of place.Stopping by The Flying Dutchman at Sofitel Legend The Grand for a Gin Mare event with the team from Boadas Barcelona.Bumping into Simone Caporale from Sips Barcelona and lining up what will hopefully become a future episode of The Cocktail Academy Podcast.Attending The Cambridge Public House activation, complete with great drinks, a packed room, big energy and a sleeping Jack Russell in the middle of the madness.Finishing the first night at Belly of the Beast, with rum, gongs, colour and full tiki-style energy.Taking part in the Meet the Bartenders event, speaking with teams from Super Lyan, Tjoget, TAG, Aldea and Panda & Sons.Experiencing the main Europe's 50 Best Bars 2026 ceremony at De Kromhouthal, with the green carpet, packed room, brand activations, cocktails and the live countdown.Seeing Line in Athens crowned The Best Bar in Europe 2026.Celebrating Panda & Sons coming in at No.20 and winning the Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu Award.Ending the trip at the rooftop closing party at LuminAir, with sunshine, DJs, barbecue, sushi, cocktails and views over Amsterdam.LinksThe World's 50 Best Bars:https://www.theworlds50best.com/bars/The Cocktail Academy on Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/welovecocktails/The Cocktail Academy on Tiktok Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/welovecocktailsx/https://www.tiktok.com/@welovecocktailsxThe Cocktail Academy:https://thecocktailacademy.com/ Hosted on Acast.    At least we don't have to knit pick reasons why Team USA fell to Belgium in the World Cup because it was all the reasons.  The United States was slow, unorganized and back on their heels.  It was ugly, ugly, ugly falling 4-1 in Seattle.  And if we're being fair, it's not likely men's soccer in this country will be elite any time soon.    Something really bad is going on with Senator Mitch McConnell who is reportedly being kept alive by a machine at a hospital in DC.  His wife is reportedly in China.  And a GOP rep from Kentucky is blasting the Senate over the Save America Act.  And almost nobody is reporting on this.  It smells more than fishy as nobody wants to keep a loved one alive on a machine for weeks.    Pastor Adam Hamilton has set a cash record for fundraising, no surprise there.  Getting other people's money is his greatest skill.    Jackson County property taxes are coming down.  A new survey shows that audio only podcasts are the most trusted and popular podcasts.     The Hunt family has multiple massive projects underway in Olathe.   Trav and Tay wedding critics are everywhere and it all just needs to fade.  I"m ready for training camp in two weeks!    The Royals win big and their shortstop goes 5 for 5 and it wasn't Bobby Witt Jr.     And our Final Final points out a US Senator wearing Mexico soccer gear.   Ugh.

TechSurge is sponsored by Notion. From product roadmaps to investor updates, Notion is where modern teams plan, write, and ship together. Get started at http://notion.dev/techsurge.Search began as a way to find pages. AI is turning it into a way to ask, reason, decide, and act.Search has always been more than a technical problem. It is a way of organising knowledge, connecting intent with information, and increasingly, turning questions into actions. In the age of artificial intelligence, that basic function is being redefined. In this episode of TechSurge, host Sriram Vishwanath speaks with Prabhakar Raghavan, Chief Technologist at Google, about the long arc of search: from the early web and link analysis to knowledge graphs, language models, transformers, Gemini, and the unresolved question of how AI will change the way we find, trust, and use information.Prabhakar reflects on his career as a computer scientist, researcher, and technology leader, beginning with his time at IBM Research, where he worked on algorithms, optimization, databases, and early information retrieval. He explains how the explosion of unstructured data on the web created a new class of technical and economic problems. Search was not simply about indexing pages; it was about imposing structure on a chaotic information environment and building mechanisms that could connect supply, demand, relevance, authority, and trust. The conversation traces how early search evolved through link analysis and PageRank, drawing on ideas from scholarly citation analysis, graph theory, and algorithmic ranking. Prabhakar describes why authority and trust became central to search as the web grew, and why users themselves changed alongside the technology. As search engines became more capable, people moved from looking for simple webpages to asking richer, more contextual questions that required intent understanding rather than mere document retrieval.Sriram and Prabhakar then explore the transition from classical search to AI-infused products. Through examples such as Gmail Smart Reply, Smart Compose, Google Drive recommendations, and knowledge graphs, Prabhakar shows how prediction, context, and language modelling were already reshaping user experiences well before the current generative AI wave. These systems were early signals of a broader shift: computers moving from retrieving information to anticipating what users might need next. The episode also offers a technical tour of the major algorithmic milestones that led to today's AI systems, including deep learning, sequence-to-sequence models, attention mechanisms, transformers, and the compute architectures needed to train and serve large models. Prabhakar explains why attention changed the quality of language modelling, why AI systems appear increasingly conversational, and why compute remains one of the central constraints in the field. At the heart of the discussion is the central tension facing search today: if AI systems can generate answers directly, what becomes of search as we know it? Prabhakar does not frame AI as the end of search, but as its next transformation. The future of search may be less about finding a page and more about understanding intent, synthesising knowledge, reasoning through ambiguity, and helping users complete complex tasks. The conversation closes with deeper questions about AI world models, hallucination, test-time compute, diffusion models, recursive self-improvement, theorem proving, and whether AI systems can ever reason with the same grounded understanding as humans. For Prabhakar, the challenge is not only to build more powerful models, but to understand their limits, failure modes, and relationship to truth. This episode is a wide-ranging exploration of how search became one of the defining technologies of the internet age—and how artificial intelligence may now force us to rethink what it means to search at all.Sign up for our newsletter at techsurgepodcast.com for updates on upcoming TechSurge Live Summits and future episodes.Links:Prabhakar Raghavan - Google Research profile: https://research.google/people/prabhakarraghavan/?&type=googlePrabhakar Raghavan - Google blogs and writing: https://blog.google/authors/prabhakar-raghavan/References Mentioned During the DiscussionBrin and Page - The Anatomy of a Large-Scale Hypertextual Web Search Engine: https://research.google/pubs/the-anatomy-of-a-large-scale-hypertextual-web-search-engine/Page, Brin, Motwani and Winograd - The PageRank Citation Ranking: https://ilpubs.stanford.edu:8090/422/1/1999-66.pdfJon Kleinberg - Authoritative Sources in a Hyperlinked Environment: https://www.cs.cornell.edu/info/people/kleinber/auth.pdfManning, Raghavan and Schutze - Introduction to Information Retrieval: https://nlp.stanford.edu/IR-book/ Google - Introducing the Knowledge Graph: things, not strings: https://blog.google/products-and-platforms/products/search/introducing-knowledge-graph-things-not/Google Help - How Google's Knowledge Graph works: https://support.google.com/knowledgepanel/answer/9787176Further ReadingKrizhevsky, Sutskever and Hinton - ImageNet Classification with Deep Convolutional Neural Networks: https://proceedings.neurips.cc/paper/2012/hash/c399862d3b9d6b76c8436e924a68c45b-Abstract.htmlVaswani et al. - Attention Is All You Need: https://papers.neurips.cc/paper/7181-attention-is-all-you-needDevlin et al. - BERT: Pre-training of Deep Bidirectional Transformers for Language Understanding: https://aclanthology.org/N19-1423/Chen et al. - Gmail Smart Compose: Real-Time Assisted Writing: https://arxiv.org/abs/1906.00080Kannan et al. - Smart Reply: Automated Response Suggestion for Email: https://arxiv.org/abs/1606.04870Hoffmann et al. - Training Compute-Optimal Large Language Models: https://arxiv.org/abs/2203.15556 Tay et al. - Scale Efficiently: Insights from Pre-training and Fine-tuning Transformers:

Tay shares her journey from surviving an abusive marriage, raising children as a single mother, and building her business from $100 and wrecked credit - to becoming a multi-six-figure entrepreneur helping women unleash themselves from survival and step into true power. This episode dives into everything from feminine leadership, human design, money identity, nervous system safety, entrepreneurship, ancestral conditioning, sabotage, visibility, and the painful (but necessary) process of becoming the woman your lineage needed.   In this episode, you'll learn: Why identity death always comes before expansion and success The pivotal moment Tay realized she had to completely change her life How women unconsciously confuse codependency with compassion Why breaking loyalty to your bloodline can be necessary for growth The hidden cost of staying trapped in “good girl” conditioning Why women are taught to fear desire, power, and visibility How Tay built Breadwinner Energy from rock bottom The difference between healing forever and actually building your life Why entrepreneurship is 90% identity work and only 10% business strategy How money magnifies your identity and nervous system patterns Why women sabotage wealth after finally receiving it The importance of redefining support, luxury, and success as a woman How Tay uses Human Design and undefined centers as portals for growth and wisdom Why your greatest wounds often become your most powerful mission What it really means to embody Breadwinner Energy How to stay the course when entrepreneurship feels like it's burning down Why women must stop normalizing suffering as the path to success About Tay Daniels Tay Daniels is the founder of Breadwinner Energy - a movement helping women transmute wounds into wealth, break generational conditioning, and build lives rooted in freedom, power, and self-leadership. After leaving an abusive relationship as a young mother with wrecked credit and almost no resources, Tay built two multi-six-figure businesses and transformed her lived experiences into a mission that now impacts women around the world. Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day

Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for May 31, 2026 is: permutation • per-myoo-TAY-shun • noun Permutation is a formal word for any one of the many different ways or forms in which something exists or can be arranged. It can also refer to a major or fundamental change in something based primarily on rearrangement of its existing elements. Permutation is usually used in its plural form. // Early permutations of the design look nothing like the final result. // The system has gone through several permutations. See the entry > Examples: “Megadeth have weathered nearly all of metal's generational permutations, only once deviating from their ... formula with 1999's infamously confused country'n'industrial mish-mash, Risk.” — Eli Enis, Pitchfork, 26 Jan. 2026 Did you know? “Ch-ch-changes!” David Bowie sang memorably in his classic (and appropriately titled) hit “Changes,” which concerns the phenomenon of artistic reinvention—something Bowie knew a lot about. In fact, he could have titled the song “Permutations,” though we admit that the word would have been a bit clunkier to sing. Permutation is, after all, all about change—specifically change (as in character or condition) of something based primarily on rearrangement of its existing elements. For example, Bowie's artistic persona went through many permutations over the course of his career, from the alien rock star Ziggy Stardust to the aristocratic Thin White Duke, with the common denominator—the existing elements—being Bowie himself. (Permutation can also be used for a form or variety resulting from such changes, and can thus refer to Bowie's individual personae as well.) Permutation, perhaps ironically, has not changed all that much since it was borrowed into Middle English from Anglo-French as permutacioun.

Kain and Tay unpack what it means when a dress rehearsal for one of the biggest potential IPOs in years generates $33 million in trading volume. Then: the Ethereum Foundation exodus. Trent Van Epps, Josh Stark, Barnabé Monnot, Tim Beiko, and Carl Beek are out. Kain's theory: longtime Ethereum “missionaries” were given hope for change under Tomasz Stanczak, only to see that momentum fade. ThunderBirds in New England and Bigfoot StoriesOn a clear summer day in a small Massachusetts town, Tay and her mother were walking their two elderly Shih Tzus near the woods behind the house when the atmosphere suddenly changed. The birds and bugs went silent, the air felt unnaturally still, and both dogs froze while staring straight up. A massive shadow swept over them, so large it seemed to cover the whole area, even though the sky was completely clear. Terrified, Tay grabbed one dog and shouted for her mother to do the same, both women feeling as though something unseen was stalking them and targeting the dogs.Moments later, they heard the loud whoosh of enormous wings and the sound of branches breaking high in the trees, but they still couldn't see anything except its immense shadow. Tay then watched her neighbor's sunlit gray roof slowly turn black from one end to the other, as if a giant body had passed over it, before the light returned and everything abruptly went back to normal. When Tay later checked the wooded area, she found broken limbs scattered on the ground, confirming that something very large had moved through the treetops. Though familiar with local birds like eagles and hawks, she was certain this was something far bigger and stranger than anything she had ever encountered in the New England woods.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support.

Anthropic and OpenAI are moving to void secondary market trades — and Kain, Tay, and Luca think that's only going to work if they're serious about it, which means a lawsuit is probably coming. This week on Uneasy Money they trace the full anatomy of the pre-IPO SPV fraud wave, explain why synthetic perpetual markets will eventually price every in-demand private company continuously whether founders want it or not, and dig into the latest AI hacks. Tay breaks down how attackers are now using local on-device Gemini APIs to construct malware on the fly, and Kain shares the story of an agent that caught a slow-drain attack in 90 seconds that humans missed for 12 hours. Luca explains why Circle's Arc token is a brilliant move for Circle equity holders even if it changes nothing for ETH or Solana. Plus: the Aave/Kelp court update and why the Gerstein lawyers' argument that every victim needs to show up in court is fundamentally incompatible with how onchain recovery works.
