If you think kayaking alone is challenging enough, add fishing to the mix. Scotty D managed to hook up a few fish while exploring the Tampa Bay waters, his first experience doing so on a kayak, making for a pretty comical venture.

This episode should be called “Boats and Bros" as I missed yet another slot snook opportunity while Scotty and the guys hit up Stuart, FL for some inshore fishing. Their plans for some end of season snook took a turn due to weather conditions, but still managed to hook up on some short ones, a few snappers, and salt cats that made for a very entertaining trip.

Scotty decided to switch things up this year and take a different approach during the pre-spawn crappie bite and boy did it pay off. In this Ep we'll share how he's done things in the past and what he did different to pull in so many fish, break things down in "tackle time" and why I missed all the fun while our son Lando had the best first experience at the south end of Lake Okeechobee, FL. Two back-to-back father & son fishing trips made for some good eating as Scotty and his childhood friend Bryan got their boys on Lake Okeechobee for bluegill fishing, pulling more catfish on that trip, folloed by a second trip on with our son Landon putting his baseball bubbdy TJ and his dad (coach Tim) on the fish for an epic bluegill fishing fest. We got up to Sebastian, FL for a family camping and fishing trip at Sebastian Inlet State Park, and it was a more than memorable trip. From pulling in snappers, trout, redfish and more, to experiencing the worst no see ums attack, all just days before Hurricane Ian made land fall on our gulf coast. While we didn't get much on our coast, our friends from Pine Island across the state through Vero and Sebastian were effected. We're talking the many ways to catch a verity of snapper from mangroves and muttons, land or offshore, and "tackle time" talk on what you'll need and how to rig your rod too. Moriah Daniels-Facebook Moriah Daniels-Instagram Scotty D-Instagram Scotty D-Facebook YouTube
We're taking you into the commercial fishing world with our first guest, Josh, whose dad got both him and Scotty D. fishing for money right out of high school. Nothing like a trip to the Florida Keys, especially when it's a bachelor party! Scotty D hit our favorite bridge on Cudjoe Key for a snapper frenzy and got out on a double charter for some deep drop fun with the boys where they landed a ton of fish, including one he's never seen or caught. We're back! After some major equipment issues and studio renovations the Catch 'Em up Podcast is back, and boy did we miss this. Since we were MIA for a couple months, we're doing a 2021 recap ep. picking up where we left off. From a failed snapper & snook trip, thanks to Scotty D, to Lake Okeechobee where I lost the biggest bass of my life (also because of Scotty D), and where he slayed the Crappie using a jig on his new rod. The "mullet run" in South Florida means it's a good time to go fishing, but NOT so good to be in the water when they're coming through, we'll explain. This episode is all about the mullet run, the snook, snapper, tarpon and other fish you'll catch on 'em, and we get a little into the pros and cons of pier vs boat fishing and the crazy stuff that goes down when both collide! Moriah Daniels-Facebook Moriah Daniels-Instagram Scotty D-Instagram Scotty D-Facebook YouTube
Scotty D had some recurring charter guests (Miffy and Leslie from Louisiana) out this week, getting them on the water for an epic day of Mahi fishing and helping get their mind off the rebuild and recovering they've had to endure after being hit with TWO major storms. Them folks over in Louisiana are the kindest it comes, to think that they've had so much going on and still thought of our fishing team by gifting us with some delicious cajun jerky, custom koozies, budan sausage, and... head-hog cheese? Moriah Daniels-Facebook Moriah Daniels-Instagram Scotty D-Instagram Scotty D-Facebook YouTube
Offshore fishing talk takes a turn when Scotty D. shares what he found inside a Mahi he filleted this week and we address a major problem we're seeing off our coast in West Palm Beach, FL. Trash is increasingly taking over our oceans and effecting our marine life, we're sharing what we see on our waters first-hand, and discus what we can do to better protect our marine life. Moriah has recently gotten the radio station she works for (New Country 103.1 WIRK) to get involved and have teamed up with the Beach Bucket Foundation. We'll be doing our first beach cleanup on October 10th, 2021 at Ocean Reef Park stating at 8am... if you're in the area we encourage you to join us, or get involved with an organization in your area. The struggle is real when it comes to trying to land a slot snook! In this episode we're breaking down the legal limit and crazy odd window of opportunity there is to catch a snook as Scotty goes over the proper tackle when fishing live or artificial, and we try to stay on track while sharing some stories of failed and successful "Snook Fishing" trips. No matter if your fishing the mangroves, off a bridge or seawall, or on a boat dropping led off the reef, you're in for a good time when it comes to snapper fishing. In this ep we're talking the many ways to catch these delicious fish and what you'll need when it comes to caching mangrove, mutton, yellowtail snapper and more! Things got a little crazy, again! But as you know we don't hold back in these episodes of what we call "Campfire Talk" as we share stories of what goes down when you mix drinks around a campfire. From hill jumps on the golf cart, to dropping tents and learning about what Scotty D calls "Lumberjack Olympics" ...there's really no rhyme or reason to these stories other than a good laugh. Got a chance to fish the 2nd Annual Paws & Reels Dolphin Tournament benefitting Amber's Animal Outreach, a non-profit organization Amber started when she was 13-years-old focusing on saving dogs that are being abused, neglected, and/or euthanized at high-kill shelters. The struggle was real for us having fished this tournament with a different team, Reel Xtreme, it being a strictly dolphin (Mahi Mahi) tournament, and doing so in a small window of time. We FINALLY got out with our team, Controlled Chaos, to fish the Big Dog & Fat Cat KDW Shootout, first time the WHOLE team was able to get back on the water in over a year! We had non-stop action from lines-in to "damn! We're out of bait!" managing to get some Kings, and Mutton Snapper pass the sharks, for an overall amazing day of fishing. Did we place?
