Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to rain is an ideal way to switch off all the stressful things life brings and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds are rain on an umbrella, hailstorms, hard rain, soft rain, gentle rain, wind and rain, rain on a car.White noise helps babies and children to get a better and deeper night's sleep. This is because external sounds are masked by the noise. With white noise in the background, your child will not hear annoying cars driving by or dogs barking in bed. This allows your little one to sleep better. And it also saves you as a parent a lot of hours!Pink noise is more common in nature than you might expect. It can be compared to continuous rainfall or wind. In addition to white noise, pink noise is also increasing in popularity, especially in business environments. Because it can increase productivity, concentration and creativity.Brown noise can be compared to waves of the sea, a river current, strong winds or the sound of thunder during a storm. Like pink noise, brown noise is very similar to white noise. However, the frequencies have been lowered even further and a lot more concentrated. This gives it a rougher/coarse tone than pink noise. It sounds a bit deeper and a bit bass-like. The benefits of brown noise are the same as the other types of noise. It provides relaxation, increased focus and improved deep sleep.DISCLAIMER: Be aware that loud noises can damage your hearing. If you can't carry on a conversation without raising your voice while playing one of our spheres, the sound may be too loud for your ears. Do not place the speakers directly next to a baby's ears. If you have trouble hearing or ringing in your ears, stop listening to the white noise immediately and see an audiologist or your doctor. In this episode of DSC's Campfire, host Larry Weishuhn sits down with Craig Archer to explore the nuances of woodmanship, wildlife management, and the "lost art" of tracking animals after a shot. Reading the Signs: Archer emphasizes that modern hunters often focus on the shot but neglect the critical signs that follow. He stresses observing how an animal reacts—whether it "kicked up its back end," "humped up in the middle," or "stumbled"—to determine the shot's placement. The Tracking Process: Archer advises hunters to stay in their blinds after a shot to observe and wait rather than rushing to look for the animal. This patience prevents hunters from inadvertently destroying a blood trail by stepping on it. Environmental Factors: The duo discusses how local terrain, such as the "sandy shinnery" country of Texas, affects tracking. In sandy soil, blood may form "balls" that aren't immediately recognizable, and heavy fat content in well-fed deer can quickly plug exit wounds, minimizing external bleeding. Property Management: Archer shares his management philosophy for his low-fence operation, which includes: Natural Diet: Avoiding protein supplements in favor of a natural habitat supported by rotational cattle grazing. Water Distribution: Strategically placing water troughs to spread livestock and wildlife across the property, preventing overgrazing near a single source. Collaboration: Working closely with biologists to manage population density and "buck-to-doe ratios". Hunting Ethics: They underscore the importance of sighting in rifles before a hunt, noting that even high-quality optics can be knocked out of alignment during travel. Ensuring an accurate shot is a fundamental responsibility to the animal. Craig Archer is a professional outfitter and land manager with over 17 years of experience in the Lubbock, Texas area. His operation maintains a near 100% success rate for mature animals by strictly managing hunting pressure and maintaining "sanctuaries" near water sources where rifle hunting is prohibited. WBSRocks: Business Growth with ERP and Digital Transformation
Send us a textA mix of product launches, acquisitions, funding rounds, and legal developments illustrates how enterprise software vendors are simultaneously accelerating innovation while navigating increasing market and regulatory complexity. Salesforce's updates to Marketing Cloud Next and Agentforce 3, alongside new capabilities from Cordial and SAP, point to a continued push toward AI-driven engagement, automation, and cloud-native commerce experiences. Strategic acquisitions by Accenture and SYSPRO reinforce the importance of deep industry and manufacturing expertise embedded within digital transformation platforms, while Unit4's ERPx release on Azure and Campfire's Series A funding highlight momentum behind modern, AI-first ERP architectures. At the same time, antitrust scrutiny involving SAP and investor investigations such as the Lamb Weston case underscore the growing governance, compliance, and risk considerations shaping the enterprise technology landscape. Collectively, these developments reflect a market evolving on multiple fronts—technological, structural, and regulatory—at the same time.In today's episode, we invited a panel of industry analysts for a live discussion on LinkedIn to analyze current enterprise software stories. We covered many grounds, including the direction and roadmaps of each enterprise software vendor. Finally, we analyzed future trends and how they might shape the enterprise software industry.Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jj8yp0QFWSoQuestions for Panelists?

In Part Two of this story last week, we learned how serial husband and waste of DNA Randy Roth seduced, married, and almost certainly murdered his second wife Jan for a life-insurance payout, and tried and failed to use the same scheme on wife number three, Donna Clift. And if you already hate Randy, that's only going to get worse after the tragic conclusion to his story this week.Sources: Fatal Charm, Carlton SmithA Rose For Her Grave, Ann Rulehttps://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/law-justice/shes-got-her-name-back-teenager-murdered-in-1977-finally-identified-with-new-dna-technique-and-genetic-genealogy/Follow us, campers!Patreon (join to get all episodes ad-free, at least a day early, an extra episode a month, and a free sticker!): https://patreon.com/TrueCrimeCampfirehttps://www.truecrimecampfirepod.com/Facebook: True Crime CampfireInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/truecrimecampfire/?hl=enTwitter: @TCCampfire https://twitter.com/TCCampfireEmail: truecrimecampfirepod@gmail.comMERCH! https://true-crime-campfire.myspreadshop.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/true-crime-campfire--4251960/support.

Xmas Special: Why project management tools fail software development - and what works instead! In this BONUS episode, we dive deep into The Project Management Trap, continuing our exploration from Episode 1 where we established that software is societal infrastructure being managed with tools from the 1800s. We examine why project management frameworks - designed for building railroads and ships - are fundamentally misaligned with software development, and what happens when we treat living capabilities like construction projects with defined endpoints. The Origin Story - Where Project Management Came From "The problem isn't that project management is bad. The problem is that software isn't building a railroad or a building, or setting up a process that will run forever (like a factory)." Project management emerged from industries with hard physical constraints - building the Transcontinental Railroad in the 1860s, coordinating factory machinery, managing finite and expensive materials. The Gantt chart, invented in the 1910s for factory scheduling, worked brilliantly for coordinating massive undertakings with calculable physics, irreversible decisions, and clear completion points. When the rails met, you were done. When the bridge was built, the project ended. These tools gave us remarkable precision for building ships, bridges, factories, and highways. But software operates in a completely different reality - one where the raw materials are time and brainpower, not minerals and hardware, and where the transformation happens in unique creative moments rather than repeated mechanical movements. The Seductive Clarity Of Project Management Artifacts "In software, we almost never know either of those things with certainty." Project management is tempting for software leaders because it offers comforting certainty. Gantt charts show every task laid out, milestones mark clear progress, "percent complete" gives us a number, and a defined "done" promises relief. The typical software project kickoff breaks down into neat phases: requirements gathering (6 weeks), design (4 weeks), development (16 weeks), testing (4 weeks), deployment (2 weeks) - total 32 weeks, done by Q3. Leadership loves this. Finance can budget it. Everyone can plan around it. But this is false precision. Software isn't pouring concrete where you measure twice and pour once. Every line of code is a hypothesis about what users need and how the system should behave. That 32-week plan assumes we know exactly what to build and exactly how long each piece takes - assumptions that are almost never true in software development. The Completion Illusion "Software products succeed by evolving. Projects end; products adapt." "Done" is the wrong goal for living software. We expand on the Slack story from Episode 1 to illustrate this point. If Slack's team had thought in project terms in 2013, they might have built a functional tool with channels, direct messages, file sharing, and search - shipped on time and on budget by Q2 2014, project complete. But that wasn't the end; it was the beginning. Through continuous user feedback and evolution, Slack added threaded conversations (2017), audio/video calls (2016), workflow automation (2019), and Canvas for knowledge management (2023). Each wasn't maintenance or bug fixing - these were fundamental enhancements. Glass's research shows that 60% of maintenance costs are enhancements, not fixes. By 2021, when Salesforce acquired Slack for $27.7 billion, it bore little resemblance to the 2014 version. The value wasn't in that initial "project" - it was in the continuous evolution. If they'd thought "build it, ship it, done," Slack would have died competing against HipChat and Campfire. When Projects Succeed (Well, Some Do, Anyway) But Software Fails "They tried to succeed at project management. They ended up failing at both software delivery AND project management!" Vasco references his article "The Software Crisis is Real," examining five distinct cases from five different countries that represent what's wrong with project thinking for software. These projects tried hard to do everything right by project management standards: detailed requirements (thousands of pages), milestone tracking, contractor coordination, hitting fixed deadlines, and proper auditing. What they didn't have was iterative delivery to test with real users early, feedback loops to discover problems incrementally, adaptability to change based on learning, or a "living capability" mindset. Project thinking demanded: get all requirements right upfront (otherwise no funding), build it all, test at the end, launch on deadline. Software thinking demands: launch something minimal early, get real user feedback, iterate rapidly, evolve the capability. These projects succeeded at following project management rules but failed at delivering valuable software. What Software-Native Delivery Management Looks Like "Software is unpredictable not because we're bad at planning - it's unpredictable because we're creating novel solutions to complex problems, and in a completely different economic system." If not projects, then what? Vasco has been exploring this question for years, since publishing the NoEstimates book. The answer starts with thinking in products and capabilities, not projects - recognizing that products have ongoing evolution, capabilities are cultivated and improved rather than "delivered" and done, and value is measured in outcomes rather than task completion. Instead of comprehensive planning, we need iteration and constant decision-making based on validated hypotheses: start with "We believe users need X," run experiments by building small and testing with real users, then learn and adapt. Instead of fixed scope, define the problem (not the solution), allow the solution to evolve as you learn, and optimize for learning speed rather than task completion. The contrast is clear: project thinking says "We will build features A, B, C, D, and E by Q3, then we're done." Software-native thinking says "We're solving problem X for users. We'll start with the riskiest hypothesis, build a minimal version, ship it to 100 users next week, and learn whether we're on the right track." The appropriate response to software's inherent unpredictability isn't better planning - it's faster learning. Therefore, software maintenance is largely about adding new capability to old software, not fixing it." Ever walked up to a job and found the pool equipment living inside a freshly finished bedroom? We have—and that's just the start. This story-driven episode shares the funniest, strangest, and most useful moments from decades on the route, each one paired with practical takeaways you can use today. We start with access and liability: a garage converted to a mother-in-law unit, complete with D.E. filter and heater behind a tenant's door. It sparked a frank look at boundaries, ventilation and code concerns, and why a professional sometimes has to walk away. From there we row—literally—into a pool with a center island only reachable by raft, and talk about how design choices create recurring labor costs. We break down builder mistakes that make equipment unserviceable: pipes over pump lids, heaters mounted above baskets, and filters wedged against walls. You'll get a fast bid checklist to catch these issues early, and language you can use to recommend fixes before they become weekly headaches. Then we move to the living, barking variables. Dogs on route can be sweet companions or sprinting escape artists. You'll hear a Doberman sprint, the small-dog chase you never want, and simple rules that prevent escapes and protect your schedule. We also cover pricing when pets use the pool and the quiet grief of losing a familiar yard companion. Finally, we tackle the roadside chaos: a tire punctured by pliers, starters that die mid-route, and the tools that save your day. We share the tap-the-starter trick, why a compact jump pack like a NOCO Boost GB40 belongs in every truck, and how AAA can swap a battery while you keep working.• garage conversion creates unsafe equipment access and liability • island pool requires raft access and sets service limits • inaccessible equipment from poor plumbing and tight pads • practical bid checks to catch design flaws early • pet policies, dog escapes, grief and pricing for pet use • roadside chaos, blowouts and the starter tap trick • jump starter picks, why AAA is worth it Send us a textSupport the Pool Guy Podcast Show Sponsors! The story of Bluebeard has a mostly happy ending, with the killer's newest bride being rescued in the nick of time by her brothers. Good for her, less good for his previous wives, who she'd discovered hanging on hooks from the walls of a bloody closet. There are countless real-life stories of spouses being killed for money, with no muscular siblings breaking down the door with swords in hand. It's much rarer for a killer to make victims of multiple spouses, but the central character in this week's story had the spirit of Bluebeard in his heart, a man who would try to make a career from killing his wives for profit.Sources: Fatal Charm, Carlton SmithA Rose For Her Grave, Ann Rulehttps://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/law-justice/shes-got-her-name-back-teenager-murdered-in-1977-finally-identified-with-new-dna-technique-and-genetic-genealogy/Follow us, campers!Patreon (join to get all episodes ad-free, at least a day early, an extra episode a month, and a free sticker!): https://patreon.com/TrueCrimeCampfirehttps://www.truecrimecampfirepod.com/Facebook: True Crime CampfireInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/truecrimecampfire/?hl=enTwitter: @TCCampfire https://twitter.com/TCCampfireEmail: truecrimecampfirepod@gmail.comMERCH! https://true-crime-campfire.myspreadshop.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/true-crime-campfire--4251960/support.
Joshua Cutchin joins us for a conversation that heads straight into one of the most uncomfortable questions in the paranormal. Is this stuff simply happening around us, or does it sometimes feel like it's reacting to us? From UFOs that change with the times to fairies, trickster figures, and high strangeness that refuses to fit in a neat box, we dig into the idea that the phenomenon may adapt to our beliefs, culture, and expectations. We talk about fictional characters appearing in real life, the Philip Experiment, thought forms, retrocausality, and why so many experiences seem oddly playful, absurd, or unsettling. There are no easy answers here, but plenty to think about, as we explore whether the paranormal is just being observed… or if it might actually be messing with us.
