157 — Kollektivismus oder Freiheit? Ein Gespräch mit Oliver Gorus

Zukunft Denken – Podcast

[…] Was oder wer dann? »We gave authority to the people who explained things. Not the people who built them.«, Marc Andreessen Und dazu passend: »The world you see everywhere around you, could never have been built by the people you see now living within it.«, Eric Weinstein Was ist davon zu halten? In welchem Verhältnis? Was wird zerbrechen? »Harte Zeiten produzieren gute Leute, gute Leute produzieren gute Zeiten, gute Zeiten produzieren schwache Leute, und schwache Leute führen alles wieder zum Zusammenbruch. […] […] Chloe joins me to share her story of moving to New Zealand, arriving with little more than a backpack, and then unexpectedly finding herself stuck here during COVID. What started as a difficult and uncertain chapter became the beginning of a much bigger journey, building a life, backing herself, and eventually growing a business here in Christchurch. We talk about what it is like starting a business in New Zealand as an immigrant, the challenges of building trust in a new country, and the mindset needed to keep going when you are starting with very little. Chloe also shares some of the lessons she has learned from growing OCD Cleaning Group, working with clients across, offices, gyms, homes and new builds, and building a business that relies heavily on service, standards and relationships. Chloe has a practical and honest story. There is a lot in this one for anyone thinking about starting a business, especially those who are trying to build something from scratch in a new environment. A great conversation about resilience, opportunity, and making the most of what is in front of you.

Dusty roads stretch west, the speaker crackles, and Bianca and Julian saddle up for an unexpected detour - Anything But Toto goes country. In this episode, they put their long-held assumptions about the genre to the test with a blind review of the five biggest country songs currently dominating the charts. For two self-professed skeptics of Nashville's clichés, political baggage, and bro-country stereotypes, it's an experiment in open-minded listening. Will they strike gold... or just more rhinestones in the rough? Before riding west, they catch up on some current events: the release of The Lemon Twigs' new album Look For Your Mind! and their bizarre Toronto concert experience, which sparks a broader conversation about concert etiquette and social awareness. They also discuss the backlash surrounding Harry Styles' Together Together tour controversy, and celebrate the ongoing Canadiana cinema renaissance, with love for films like Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, Mile End Kicks, and Blue Heron. Then it's onto country. Bianca and Julian unpack their history with the genre, from observing the suburban millennial migration away from hip-hop and toward country, to the political and cultural forces that may have shaped that shift. Along the way, they revisit some of their favourite country-adjacent songs and trace the genre's many stylistic branches - from California country to polished pop-country crossovers, with stops at everyone from Glen Campbell and Eagles to Shaboozey and Taylor Swift. And then comes the main event: the Billboard Top 5. What begins as a broad review quickly becomes an unofficial review of Ella Langley's singles, with appearances from Stella Lefty, Luke Combs, and Kacey Musgraves along the way. Do they find the needle in the haystack? The diamond in the dust? You'll have to listen to find out. Share your favourite country songs at anythingbuttoto@gmail.com Theme music by: Daniel Konikoff

What actually happens in the first 72 hours after you move to a new country alone? I've been in Milan for about a week now, and I keep thinking about the first 72 hours. Everything technically works. You got there, your bags are unpacked, you know where a few things are. But nothing feels automatic yet. You're slightly off in every interaction, even the simple ones, and you realize how much of your confidence is tied to familiarity. In this episode, I'm walking through what those first few days actually felt like for me, the small moments that caught me off guard, and the few things that helped me get grounded quickly. If you're about to move, or you're in the beginning of something new, this is the part people don't really talk about. But it's the part that sets the tone for everything else. This episode will help you move through that initial phase with more clarity, confidence, and intention, instead of feeling lost in it. Connect with me:  Instagram: @dimitrovelena  Twitter: @dimitrovelenaa  YouTube: @twenty.something For women in their twenties becoming the most elegant, intentional, and magnetic version of themselves—without losing their values. It is titled ‘Intelligent Warfare' an oxymoron in any language. In truth it is an account of British military failures through several colonial wars in which Kitson fought, including in Ireland. It is also a reflection of Kitson's enormous personal ego.Kitson came to prominence within the British military hierarchy in the 1950s during its efforts to crush the independence rebellion in Kenya. He established counter-gangs that tortured and killed Kenyan civilians. The groups were made up of British soldiers, including Kitson on occasion, and former members of those fighting against British rule. Tens of thousands of Kenyans ended up in over 150 detention camps where they were brutalized. An estimated 30,000 Kenyans were killed; one and a half million were interned; torture was commonplace and 1090 were hanged. While Kitson boasts of his role in the counter-gangs he ignores the human rights violations that underpinned British strategy in that African country. In 1970 he took command of the 39th Brigade – which covered Belfast and surrounding region. In the same year he published ‘Low Intensity Operations' which quickly became the standard text book for the British Army's counter-insurgency strategy in the following decades. A Raffle for Jim Fitzpatrick limited edition printThe Moore Street Preservation Trust is raffling our hugely popular Elizabeth O'Farrell print - a unique, framed print designed and signed by the renowned Irish artist Jim Fitzpatrick. Moving to a new city is one of the most exciting (and emotionally challenging) things you can do in your twenties. Whether it’s for work, study, love, or a fresh start, leaving behind what’s familiar often brings a mix of freedom, fear, loneliness, and growth all at once. It’s a rite of passage, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. In this episode, I’m sharing my personal experience of moving cities multiple times in my 20s, including moving internationally for the first time, alongside the psychology that explains why this transition feels so destabilising—and what actually helps. We explore:• Why moving increases stress, emotional exhaustion, and homesickness• Why it takes around 6 months to truly adjust to a new city• The role of routine, repetition, and place attachment in feeling settled• Why “going home too often” can slow down adjustment• How novelty, social effort, and structure protect mental health during transitions If you’ve just moved, or are thinking about it, this episode will help you feel less alone, more grounded, and more confident that what you’re feeling is normal, temporary, and part of the process. Hunter Park quickly gained a reputation as one of the hottest up-and-coming singer-songwriters when her project She Returns from War made its first full album debut in 2015. Since, the road dogging and networking have done Hunter and the band well. A 2018 album, well-received by alt-country and alternative media, particularly in her native Charleston, S.C., was followed by the amazing Ruthless in 2023.  And, hot off a fall tour opening for S.G. Goodman, She Returns From War is poised to drop a bonafide country album in 2026. Park joined us on Roots Music Rambler to talk about the project's rise from Charleston open-mic group to touring band. We talked about her moving to Nashville, touring with S.G. Goodman, and her brave openness of being a transgendered country music singer.  With the style and sophistication of her writing and the boldness of her position as a deserving artist in the space, we can't wait to hear the new album and see where 2026 takes her and the group.  Frank and Falls also made some music recommendations in their Pickin' The Grinnin' segment. Frank is big on Presley Haile while falls recommended a Kentucky-based rock/blues/country group called The Shelby Lore Band.   Watch the Episode on YouTube Download the episode and subscribe at rootsmusicrambler.com, watch the full episode on YouTube, or download wherever you get your podcasts.  Also be sure to help spread the love of the show with Roots Music Rambler's new merch, now available at rootsmusicrambler.com/store. Some stories don't start with a blueprint — they start with grit. With faith. With a suitcase and a dream bigger than the fear that comes with chasing it. This is the journey of Coach Sara Anastasieska, a warrior who traveled halfway across the world, battled injury after injury, earned TWO master's degrees, played at some of the biggest programs in college basketball, and has now found her purpose pouring into the next generation as an assistant coach at Robert Morris University. This episode of Sports Life Talk: You Got Next is your front-row seat to a life defined by resilience, rebirth, and refusing to fold.Born in Macedonia, raised in Australia, Sara's early life was about survival and belonging. She didn't speak English. She didn't know the culture. But she had two things:Curiosity & courage. That curiosity led her to pick up a basketball in sixth grade — by accident — and she never let it go. From boys' teams to national teams, she climbed fast. She wore the Australian jersey proudly at the U17 & U18 international level — a dream that stamped her identity:“If you never stop growing, you never stop going.”Most players never touch ONE Power 5 gym. Sara lived in several. But the path wasn't glamorous — it was a battlefield.Three straight years injured. Two spinal surgeries by age 21.Rehab. Setbacks. Tears. Repeat. But the comeback moment?25 points vs. UConn. On the biggest stage. Against the best.Proof that you can break, heal, and still rise higher than before.Sara always thought she'd be a player forever — until life redirected her. While rehabbing, she hit the books, earned TWO master's degrees, and discovered a gift bigger than scoring:Coaching. Teaching. Mentoring. She became DBO at UC Santa Barbara, earned her stripes off the court, then made the jump to Assistant Coach at RMU — where she is helping build something special.Robert Morris isn't just a program — it's a family. A culture. A mission.Sara breaks it down:✅ Fast pace✅ Depth & versatility✅ International flavor✅ Weekly mental & life check-insThey are building athletes AND humans. And Coach Sara is a heartbeat in that mission.

In the book, a man leaves his wife and child in an impoverished town, seeking better prospects in an unknown country on the other side of a vast ocean. He eventually finds himself in a bewildering city of foreign customs, peculiar animals, curious floating objects and indecipherable languages. With nothing more than a suitcase and a handful of currency, the immigrant must find a place to live, food to eat and some kind of gainful employment. Noah Cyrus is baaaack! And this time she's bringing it alllll… from a full-on musical performance to visiting the dispensary with Tizzle before recording, today's episode is a wild ride you don't want to miss. Buckle up as Tish “eases her way back into weed” (or so she says…) and Brandi does her best to keep the two stoney balognas on track. Noah opens up about her new album, I Want My Loved Ones to Go With Me, and how family, faith, and a little psychedelic journey helped shape the music. She also shares why having Blake Shelton on one of the tracks was more than just a country collab, it was "meant to be."   Plus they play a round of the Boring Game (a little less boring this time) which sparks the debut of their girl group, "The Cuntry Cats." And this girl group is in quite the mood today, so expect lots of laughs and classic Cyrus family banter!  CHECK OUT NOAH'S MUSIC: “New Country” Feat. Blake Shelton

In this episode of Skin Anarchy, Dr. Ekta Yadav sits down with celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos for an honest look at what it really takes to shape iconic hair moments in Hollywood and beyond. From growing up in Thessaloniki with a dream that defied family expectations, to styling the biggest stars on the planet, Dimitris's story is proof that fearlessness and timeless skill can take you anywhere. He shares how packing up his thriving career in Greece to move to New York — without fluent English — taught him that staying in your comfort zone is the biggest risk of all. Whether he's creating Met Gala looks for Kim Kardashian or helping everyday clients find their signature style, his approach is all about modern classics and true individuality.Listeners will hear his unfiltered advice for up-and-coming stylists: know the classics before chasing trends, stay curious, and never just copy-paste the same look for every client.
