Thanksgiving and Christmas are the topic of discussion on The Christmas Show of My Merry Christmas. In this segment we explore the Thanksgiving anthem that has become a favored song of Thanksgiving, Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, which we feature in this episode. The great and beautiful rendition we share comes from Broken Bow Music. Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing is a 300-year old song, familiar in the ancient Christian world. The hymn has an amazing backstory that we tell in this episode. Here are the lyrics to this song of Thanksgiving; 1Come, Thou Fount of ev'ry blessing; Tune my heart to sing Thy grace. Streams of mercy, never ceasing, Call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, Sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount; I'm fixed upon it: Mount of Thy redeeming love. Here I raise my Ebenezer; Hither by Thy help I'm come. And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, Safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, Wand'ring from the fold of God; He, to rescue me from danger, Interposed His precious blood. Oh, to grace how great a debtor Daily I'm constrained to be! Let Thy goodness, like a fetter, Bind my wand'ring heart to Thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, Prone to leave the God I love. Here's my heart, O take and seal it; Seal it for Thy courts above.

Send us a textIn this week's episode from the vault I answer some diastasis recti related questions that come up regularly.I also talk about the having to take a break from rehab exercises. Of course it happens regularly that life gets in the way, is that a probolem or is it just not that big of a deal? Here are the questions I cover;1. I'm not sure I'm doing the home workouts right. When there is a spot that says "breathing (lying)" or "(standing)", does that just mean I do the upward motion breath that many times while lying or sitting? (I explain why we do this) And am I supposed to breathe up from my lower abdomen as shown in the breathing video every time I exhale in an exercise?2. So, I was super diligent the first 6 weeks, but then I had a whole bunch of things come up right after the other and I've been pretty inconsistent for the last 6 weeks. I got all the way through weeks 1-4 and noticed a huge difference in strength and my diastasis gap and then got half way through weeks 4-8. I've done the workouts off and on since then but my gap seems to have digressed and gotten bigger... is that possible or am I imagining it? And if it is possible, how do I stop it from spreading apart again, are there certain motions I just can't do anymore? 3. Are the exercises you have us do in this 12  week program safe for early pregnancy as well, or just for postnatal?4. And last question, how will I be able to tell once my body is strong enough again and how can I know that my diastasis is healed? (Since it's apparently normal to have a small gap there, I'm not sure how to tell once I've achieved a healthy level of separation.)As always; HPNB still only has 5 billing cycles. So this means that you not only get 3 months FREE access, no obligation! Charles Yu has written a lot about the nature of reality, how we understand what is real, and the assumptions we make about each other and the universe we live in. Yu’s first novel, “How to live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe,” follows a time machine repairman who is searching for his father who is lost in time and memory. His latest book, National Book Award winning “Interior Chinatown,” takes place in a Chinese restaurant that’s also the set for a police procedural TV show and a sendup of stereotypes of Asian American characters. Yu spoke to us on February 29, 2024 in front of an audience of students from Ida B. Wells High School.

Salim Berrada, also known as "the Tinder rapist", has been on trial in France since 18 March 2024. He is accused of raping or sexually assaulting 17 women, after meeting them on the Internet via dating applications. According to victims his MO was always the same: he would invite them to his home for a photo shoot, offer them a drink that they felt compelled to take and which would result in them feeling extremely intoxicated.   Although the defendant has denied the charges investigators were able to find traces of drugs, including antihistamines in several of the women. The women then described a sudden change in Salim's attitude towards them and said he then forced himself on them despite their objections and refusal. The only thing that unites all these women is that they were approached over the Internet Is it an isolated case? So how do you ensure a safe date on Tinder? Has the app put anything in place to prevent this kind of abuse? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions! Bitcoin is definitely volatile. If you told me it was going to go down by 50 percent next year, I would hesitantly believe you. However, there is no way you can convince me that Bitcoin will not hit $500,000 at some point within the next five years. Think about what's happening: ETFs are everywhere, treasury companies are holding Bitcoin, there are rumors of central banks buying it, and even an American Bitcoin reserve. It is an asset that will go up. But it may go down before that, and that is unnerving. You should not put money into Bitcoin unless you commit to not touching it for 5–10 years. But then you face another problem—Bitcoin is like gold. Unlike apartment buildings, there is no rent, no cashflow. Other coins like Ethereum and Solana have mechanisms called staking that allow for yield. Bitcoin does not. Its beauty is that there are not a lot of moving parts. It's a vault of security, and that's pretty much it. Again, just like gold. There have been companies like BlockFi and Celsius—which are, indeed, traditional finance companies—that lost people's Bitcoin when they went insolvent. But now there may be a way to get yield from Bitcoin while keeping it in your custody. That's what we talk about on this week's Wealth Formula Podcast, in addition to covering recent news and making predictions about Bitcoin's price.

What's the goal of your life? Many of us pursue success, comfort, or recognition—striving for the “summit” of achievement. But Solomon, the wealthiest and wisest king of Israel, reminds us that these goals can leave us empty and vulnerable, like climbers who collapse after reaching the top of the mountain but never make it safely home.In this episode of Wisdom for the Heart, Stephen Davey takes us through Ecclesiastes 6:10–13, where Solomon reflects on the futility of chasing the wrong goals and urges us to remember three life-changing truths. First, everything in our past has unfolded under the authority of our Creator. Second, everything in our present is shaped by God's sovereign care—even when we don't understand it. And third, everything in our future rests in His infinite wisdom and perfect plan.Through Scripture and practical illustrations, Stephen shows how we can trust God with our past, walk with Him in the present, and prepare for eternity with confidence. The real question isn't whether you'll make it to the “summit” of life's goals, but whether you'll make it safely home.Stephen Davey's newest book, The Disciples Prayer, is available now. https://www.wisdomonline.org/store/view/the-disciples-prayer-hardbackStephen's latest book, The Disciples Prayer, is available now. https://www.wisdomonline.org/store/view/the-disciples-prayer-hardback

Lithium-ion battery devices are just about everywhere in our homes, from smartphones to cordless power tools. While the devices are convenient, it's important to know safety tips to prevent lithium-ion batteries from overheating and starting a fire. What should I look for when buying rechargeable items? Look for a safety certification from a nationally recognized testing laboratory like UL (Underwriters Laboratories) or ETL (Intertek). These certifications show the lithium-ion battery inside the product meets minimum U.S. safety standards for electrical and fire safety. When are lithium-ion batteries most at risk of catching fire? Charging is the riskiest time for lithium-ion batteries. To stay safe, always use the charger that came with the device or one that's approved by the manufacturer. Using an incompatible charger can lead to overheating, which increases the risk of fire. What are the warning signs that a charging battery might be unsafe? Watch for these common signs of battery failure: Unusual heat. A bulging or swollen battery. A strange, sweet, or metallic smell. If you notice any of these, stop using the device right away and unplug it from the charger. Where is the best place to store lithium-ion battery-powered devices? Store devices in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid keeping battery-powered items in cars, garages, or outdoor sheds, especially during very hot or cold weather. What's the safest way to dispose of lithium-ion batteries? Never put lithium-ion batteries in the regular trash or recycling bin. Damaged or improperly discarded batteries can ignite and cause fires in garbage trucks and landfills. Instead, take them to a certified battery recycling center. Find a location near you at Call2Recycle.org. Can I safely charge an e-bike and scooter indoors? No. The safest place to charge e-bikes and scooters is on a hard surface outdoors out of direct sunlight in a dry place. How do I safely charge devices with lithium-ion batteries? While no method is completely risk-free, you can reduce the fire risk by: Charging on a hard, non-flammable surface. Keeping devices away from flammable materials (such as beds, rugs, and couches). Monitoring the device. Unplugging after charging. How do I know if my device has a lithium-ion battery? Many everyday rechargeable devices use lithium-ion batteries, including: Smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches. Laptops. Power tools. E-bikes, e-scooters, and electric vehicles (EVs). Electric toothbrushes. Check the product manual or labeling for battery information. The Drive - A Daily Devotional by Pastor Mike Sternad

Send us a textActs 27:39-44Now when it was day, they did not recognize the land, but they noticed a bay with a beach, on which they planned if possible to run the ship ashore. So they cast off the anchors and left them in the sea, at the same time loosening the ropes that tied the rudders. Then hoisting the foresail to the wind they made for the beach. But striking a reef, they ran the vessel aground. The bow stuck and remained immovable, and the stern was being broken up by the surf. The soldiers' plan was to kill the prisoners, lest any should swim away and escape. But the centurion, wishing to save Paul, kept them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and make for the land, and the rest on planks or on pieces of the ship. And so it was that all were brought safely to land.Support the show

In this solo episode of the Dad Edge Podcast, I dive into one of the greatest challenges facing parents today: raising kids in the digital age. Between iPhones, TikTok, YouTube, and even AI tools like ChatGPT, technology is moving at lightning speed—and as fathers, we can't afford to bury our heads in the sand.   I share three powerful strategies that will help you set the right boundaries for your kids without putting them in “tech prison.” From creating guardrails with apps like Bark, to implementing a family tech contract, to modeling discipline with our own devices, this episode is about protecting our kids while also preparing them to navigate the digital world with responsibility and confidence.     TIMELINE SUMMARY [0:00] - Welcome to the Dad Edge movement and today's focus on raising kids in the digital age [1:02] - Why technology is moving faster than parents can keep up [2:11] - Why this generation is the first to face AI, smartphones, and social media all at once [3:08] - Introducing Dad Edge Alliance and Boardroom Brotherhood for fathers [4:00] - Strategy #1: Set guardrails, not walls, around tech use [4:58] - The rookie mistake of limiting apps without realizing kids just switch platforms [6:12] - Workarounds kids use to bypass phone restrictions [7:05] - Why apps like Bark provide a real solution for parents [7:25] - Strategy #2: Create a family tech contract with clear boundaries and accountability [8:42] - Examples of contracts around bedtime, screen-free zones, and check-ins [8:59] - Strategy #3: Model discipline by living the same tech rules as your kids [9:56] - Why hypocrisy in tech rules undermines your authority [11:14] - Setting boundaries with work and modeling digital discipline at home [12:22] - The Bark app, Bark phone, and Bark watch explained [14:05] - Why I don't allow TikTok or YouTube for my younger kids [14:54] - The Bark watch for younger kids as a safe, affordable option [15:31] - Final recap of the three strategies for digital parenting [16:13] - Closing encouragement and link to resources     5 KEY TAKEAWAYS   1. Guardrails Beat Walls Complete restriction creates rebellion. Guardrails, not tech prisons, teach kids to manage technology responsibly while keeping them safe. 2. Apps Aren't Foolproof Kids can and will find workarounds. Relying only on built-in phone restrictions isn't enough—you need smarter tools like Bark to stay ahead. 3. Contracts Create Clarity A family tech contract sets clear expectations for screen time, apps, and accountability. Clarity prevents arguments and keeps kids accountable. 4. Model the Discipline You Preach If you tell your kids “no phones at dinner,” but you're scrolling, the rule collapses. Fathers must live the same digital discipline they demand. 5. Your Kids' Tech Is Your Business Phones, apps, and online behavior aren't private property for minors. Fathers must stay engaged, set boundaries, and protect their kids in the digital age.       LINKS & RESOURCES   Bark App & Devices (Protect your kids online): https://www.thedadedge.com/bark Episode Show Notes Page: https://www.thedadedge.com/1377 Dad Edge Podcast Website: https://www.thedadedge.com/podcast Join The Alliance (career-driven dads): https://www.thedadedge.com/alliance Dad Edge Boardroom (entrepreneurial dads): https://www.thedadedge.com/boardroom 25 Questions to Spark Connection With Your Partner: https://www.thedadedge.com/25questions     If this episode gave you clarity on parenting in the digital age, please rate, review, follow, and share the podcast. In 1835, a New York newspaper convinced thousands of readers that the moon teemed with bat-winged humanoids, walking beavers, and unicorns, creating the most successful media hoax in American history. The techniques that fooled Yale professors and missionaries nearly two centuries ago are the same ones being used to deceive you today, just wearing modern clothes and confirming what you already want to believe.LINKS…Sermon Transcript: https://weirddarkness.com/cotu-moonhoax1835Moon Hoax episode of Weird Darkness: https://weirddarkness.com/1835moonhoax/Hear previous #ChurchOfTheUndead messages at https://WeirdDarkness.com/ChurchDarren Marlar is a licensed minister through the Universal Life Church: https://www.themonastery.org“Church Of The Undead” theme music by Epidemic Sound"I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness." — John 12:46Find out how to escape eternal darkness at https://weirddarkness.com/eternaldarknessWeird Darkness® and Church Of The Undead™ are trademarked.
