On this episode Tim and Tanner both struggle to catch fish. Tim snags a mackerel, and Tanner gets a catfish off the hook. They discuss the new proposed snook regulations.
Fall weather and the migration of large numbers of Menhaden(Pogies) bring the mercury missiles to the coastal regions of the Carolinas and it also brings the culmination of the season of King Mackerel tournament fishing. We are joined this week by two teams that have set their mark in the tournament world and they are kind enough to share some of the things that have helped set them apart from other teams. Team Long Run and Team Keepin It Reel are both competitive on many levels and have won a lot of money chasing kings. We hope you enjoy this episode and maybe you get a tip or two from what they share with us. Enjoy!!!!!!
On today's episode we talk with Capt. Brant Peacher of AnglerUp with Brant out of Pensacola, FL. He tells us about the Fall Pompano run that seems to have started along the beach. There are also tons of ladyfish, bluefish & Spanish there as well so if you just want to catch something, the beaches are hard to beat right now. There are also an abundance of Mangrove Snapper being caught on inshore structure and the really big ones hold on offshore structure. The offshore and nearshore bite has been strong as well. Triggerfish are in season and this time of year you might also find a King Mackerel patrolling the wrecks. It is a great time of year to fish the Pensacola area!
FISH ON! with Captain Kevin: A Sportsman’s Guide to Saltwater Fishing
In this episode, Captain Kevin talks about fishing for King Mackerel and the upcoming MBARA tournament
On today's episode we talk with Capt. Jordan Todd of Saltwater Obsessions out of Port St Joe, FL. and we finish our conversation from last week about live chumming for King's. In part 2, we talk about the other fish that come up in the live chum slick along with Kingfish. Inshore, it sounds like the wet weather that moved through the area last week and the summer pop up thunderstorms helped to get the bite fired up. Those showers cool the water temp down quickly and create oxygen in the water. Sometimes the fish respond well to little those rain events, so don't let a little rain send you to the dock, sometimes that's what they are waiting for.
On today's show we talk with Capt. Brant Peacher of AnglerUp with Brant out of Pensacola, FL. He tells us about a fantastic bite offshore. There's no shortage of Red Snapper but you might also find Mahi oriented to floating structure or the occasional King Mackerel. There is plenty of action to be had this time of year. The late summer patterns are just getting going & it is a great time to head out. Like Brant mentioned, surf fishing is really tough right now so one of the most effective ways to get on the fish if you don't have boat access, is to take advantage of one of the local piers or hire a local charter captain to head offshore. Either way, there's a lot of fish to target right now!
On this weeks episode we talk with Capt. Jordan Todd of Saltwater Obsessions out of Port St Joe, FL. and he tells us about a method of targeting king mackerel that sounds like a blast! We also talk about the affect the influx of rain is going to have on the Tarpon migration and the fishing in the area. Jordan makes some sense of some of the regulatory decisions of the past and some of the improvements they've made to make more accurate regulations for the Gulf of Mexico's Red Snapper fishery.

PointClickFish.com talks with Chairman Duncan Hilburn from the US Open King Mackerel Tournament that will take place in Southport, North Carolina October 2-4, 2014. Watch the livestream: http://pcflive.com/usopen/ Tournament site: http://www.usopenkmt.com/ Thirty-four years ago a small group of community leaders met and decided that they needed an event to showcase the great fall fishing Southport-Oak Island area has to offer. The prizes and expenses for the first tournament were guaranteed by those community leaders signing a promissory note at a local financial institution - thus the U.S. Open King Mackerel Tournament was born. The U.S. Open King Mackerel Tournament now attracts almost 400 boats annually and is held in high esteem by the community and anglers.
