Dreams do come true. Just ask this week’s guest, the formidable actress/dancer/director : Iantha Richardson. Iantha is no stranger to doing whatever it takes to accomplish her goals; she spent a year commuting, via a 5:30AM train, from the D.C. metro area to Baltimore as a Baltimore School of the Arts student. She moved to L.A. after attending Fordham University as an African American studies major with no concrete plan other than to succeed - “I thought, if anything, I’ll be an agent.” Several acting classes and plenty of vision board notations later, Iantha has starred in FreeformTV’s Good Trouble, nabbed the coveted role of Adult Tessa in NBC’s fan favorite, This is Us, secured a series regular role in BET’s American Soul (now renewed for a second season!), and recently wrapped her first short as a director. All of this in the midst of remaining grounded, full of gratitude, and keeping a keen eye on the happenings in the black community. ep. 2 - Marcus Callender

Experience the deep, warm and mellow shades that make up this week’s guest, actor and creator, Marcus Callender. Marcus takes host Trevor Joyner through the twists and turns of his actor’s journey and personal life with the ease, spontaneity, and authenticity of a golden era jazz musician. He recounts first contact with Oliver “Power” Grant (the real life character Callender plays in the upcoming Hulu Original “Wu-Tang: An American Saga”) which manifested as a cryptic text message from Grant which read, “Peace, Peace. What’s up.” Although Callender’s resume seems to be racking up iconic NYC characters whose lives get tangled into an intense street life, our guest is looking forward to “showing cats a different side” of himself, namely in the form of acting in some romantic comedies. This week’s guest is a #proudpisces with “mainly earth and water” in his astro natal chart; the one vexing speck of air (his Venus is in Aquarius) both intrigue and challenge him - especially in his dating life. Host Trevor Joyner chops it up with actor Toby Onwumere (Sense8, Empire) for a lively and candid conversation about Onwumere's career success, opinion on call-out-culture and where he's gotten the most fan love. Spoiler : it's at the Whole Foods in Harlem. He recalls the night he got the call from his agent saying that Sense8 creators, the Wachowskis', wanted to fly him to Mexico City to talk just after one audition. Joyner muses that the Sense8 cast was akin to the LGBTQIA Power Rangers. The actor answers questions about going to school for acting and admits that his most expensive purchase to date is the gold chain currently around his neck during the interview. Host and guest both dive into big cultural questions like - Should people lose their jobs now because of an offensive act from their pasts? Does a white woman who can rap Cardi B lyrics deserve an invite to Black people's ongoing, metaphorical cookout?
