This week's Zoning Out is PACKED. Jordan Centry, Jonathan Williams, Jason Allen King, and special guest Hillary Staple dive deep into pop culture chaos, ethical dilemmas, and comedy community drama—with plenty of laughs in between. Topics we cover: Taylor Swift's The Life of a Showgirl album — our honest review, spicy lyrics (“his love was the key…”), and why Taylor's villain era might be her boldest yet. The “Black Phase” theory — why pop stars like Miley and Ariana get less pushback, and how Taylor's image shift is playing differently. LeBron's new Hennessy x DraftKings ad — is it the next “Decision”? Is this GOAT behavior, or just gross branding? The Saudi Arabia comedy festival — Would you take $15 million to perform there? We debate moral tradeoffs, freedom of speech, and whether everyone has a price. Weirdest movie titles ever — Quaxer Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx, Freddy Got Fingered, Hell House LLC, Origins: The Carmichael Manor, and more. Comedy vs. Improv crossover in Charlotte — why standups are joining improv troupes and the growing synergy on the scene. Plus: Justin Bieber vs Timberlake, John Mayer slander, the return of Reading Rainbow, the Bechdel Test, and a Would You Rather that turns existential. Special guest: Hillary Staple- Improv comic, reader, future bookstore owner (and maybe beekeeper?)—and the Swifty we needed to break this album down! Upcoming Stand-Up Shows: Oct 10 – Augusta, GA (Don't Tell Comedy) Oct 11 Jambox in Charlotte, NC Oct 15 – Comedy Club at Duckworth's (Shameless Society Improv) Oct 24 – Headlining Next Stop Comedy in Sanford, NC Nov 14 – Laugh at Lenny, Charlotte Plus: Jordan, Jason & Jonathan's Three's Comedy Tour kicks off May 2025! Here's what people are saying about Steve..."Steve Marshall is the only comedian who can do an hour clean or an hour edgy."Gary Greenberg, Current Producer, Former Head Writer on The Jimmy Kimmel Show, ABC"Students love him. We've asked him to perform at Mount Saint Mary College three times."Student Activities, Mount Saint Mary College, Newburgh, NY "Steve is the headliner of my Comedy for Peace shows. You really represent our theme, peace."Dotan Malach, Producer Comedy for Peace"THE MARSHALL PLAN - Bad behavior makes for good comedy." "Marshall's style relies on a sharp mind and a complete inability to properly behave himself. Nothing too controversial, just a little good-old-fashioned honesty."The Florida New Times "I want you to close the shows because I know they will still be talking about you tomorrow and telling their friends the great time they had. I know they will remember you and Dangerfield's."Tony Bevacqua, Rodney's Partner, Dangerfield's Comedy Club"Use him for a lot of private parties. We just got back from our first overnight trip together, and we're still smiling about it! In this episode, we're recapping our amazing night at Songs & Stories from Music City with Clare Bowen and Jonathan Jackson in Pottstown, PA.We kicked things off with dinner at Gatsby's Pub, then headed over to SoulJoel's Comedy Club for the show—and wow, what a night. The setting was intimate, the crowd was awesome, and the whole vibe was so personal and fun.Clare and Jonathan were incredible. They shared behind-the-scenes stories from Nashville, how the music came together, and sang some of our favorites like “If I Didn't Know Better,” “Forever,” and “Borrow My Heart.” One of our favorite parts was watching them fan over each other—their friendship really shines. It was also so sweet hearing them talk about their real-life love stories—Clare with her husband Brandon Young and Jonathan with his wife Lisa Vultaggio (yep, GH fans will remember her as Hannah Scott!). Clare was so warm and supportive, especially with all the GH fans in the audience—she totally embraced it.They even did a Q&A throughout the show, which made it feel like we were all just hanging out together. We seriously hope we get the chance to see them again—it was such a special night.

America's favorite amigo Mike Finoia returns with a story of a gigantic serpent that chose to make a home in his backyard shed. Mike was on the phone with Jay when he first discovered this 10-foot reptile and Jay recorded the call. Jay plays the recorded call into the microphone so the listeners can hear the terror in Mike's every move. | Jay discovers that men lose their eyebrows as they grow older and compares young photos to Bobby now. Jay has fantastic eyebrows but cannot properly use his bidet and Jacob reprimands him for it. | Jay plays public domain music instead of copywritten songs because he claims the suits are cracking down on the Bonfire. Mike Finoia will be performing at Governor's @ McGuire's Comedy Club all weekend in Bohemia, New York. *To hear the full show to go www.siriusxm.com/bonfire to learn more FOLLOW THE CREW ON SOCIAL MEDIA: @thebonfiresxm @louisjohnson @christinemevans @bigjayoakerson @robertkellylive @louwitzkee @jjbwolfSubscribe to SiriusXM Podcasts+ to listen to new episodes of The Bonfire ad-free and a whole week early. My guest is Tom Segura, renowned comedian, writer, actor and director. We discuss the “how-to” of comedy writing and storytelling, and what the science of humor and the creative process reveal about human emotion and memory. We explore why surprise and the act of "saying the unspoken truth" activate the brain's reward circuits, as well as the subconscious mechanisms that shape our sense of what is funny. The episode also examines the bi-directional influence between comedy and cultural standards. It will interest anyone curious about the science of humor, the art of performance and emotional contagion. Read the episode show notes at hubermanlab.com.
