Hola Cosmic Gypsies... We are back with the 8th edition of the Cosmic Soul Podcasts... Bringing you funky flavours from all over the world, with a selection of our favs and hopefully yours by the end of the show too. One Love xo.
Welcome to the seventh episode of the Cosmic Soul Podcast. Taking you through with a diverse selection as always and talking about up and coming cosmic endeavours! (Feel Free to DL this podcast like always!) Cosmic Soul Collective are back and very proud to announce their 1st birthday celebration at Exchange, Old Market, Bristol. Celebrating the power of Art & Music, in experimentally organic forms, we present an evening of mesmerizingly deep live music. LINE UP: ASH WALKER EXPERIENCE (Bristol Debut) Describing his current sound as trip-hop with an abstract twist, Ash incorporates an intoxicatingly heavy dub reggae bottom end with samples of original material – all firmly rooted in jazz harmony. Ash has supported acts such as The Specials, Lee Scratch Perry, and David Rodigan, and now signed to Deep Heads, his productions are receiving the increased attention they deserve. Now performing live with a four piece band which has evolved the sets into an experience to remember. The band, Marc Cyril on Bass, Tim Shackman on Drums, Lord Laville on vocals and Ash Walker on Leads, Keys, Melodica, Vocals, Dub siren, tape delays and everything in between! We are very excited to have them bless the stage at Exchange, presenting an emotively powerful performance that will be truly special! AUXX https://soundcloud.com/auxxmusic Auxx is an experimental musician and sound designer based in Brighton, UK. His recent independent work has been supported by artists from the network of Ninja Tune, Warp and Brainfeeder; with remixes for Daedelus, Plaid and Kidkanevil of the Red Bull Music Academy. With a technical approach to his 2018 live show, his new unreleased work intertwines the ethereal chaos of a new dystopia, hinting at unique melodic soundscapes to bridge you into the unfamiliar. Charli Brix https://soundcloud.com/mangojuicemusic/jevon-ives-head-in-the-clouds Charli Brix is a London born musician, writer & aspiring producer. Floating between electronic and soul, her vocals are most recognisable weaved between moody rollers released on some of the most revered labels within drum and bass. Rooted firmly in r&b and soul, 2018 sees a more down tempo side of Charli’s productions; with the inception of her neo-soul collective ‘Milk & Honey’ & collaborations with some of Bristol’s finest r&b artists, it’s time to strip back to her roots delivering nothing but organic, soulful expression. Aaliyah Esprit Music Aaliyah Esprit is a singer who’s versed in soul-jazz legends as much as the hip-hop beatmakers who’ve flipped their records. Her music finds a sweet spot between those two worlds. Working with producers melding hard-edged production with a melodic hue, her vocals add a timeless, soulful quality. Based in Bristol, she’s part of the Cosmic Soul Collective, but has also picked up the attention of Brownswoods own, Giles Peterson who has signed her up for his Further Bubblers scheme. The future is looking bright for young Aaliyah. Indira May https://soundcloud.com/indie-may Keeping it organic and fresh, Indira is an upcoming singer/songwriter from Brighton. Having worked with Hip Hop artists such as Nomad and Eskimoe, expect Jazz influenced Rhythm & Blues with an experimental twist. Keep your eyes peeled for the launch of her EP and latest debut video in the next few months. Really excited to hear her unique voice and style + Support from... Akira Neroli / Jevon Ives / Mendaya / 2HONEYS / Åethereal The Night will be hosted D-Los Tickets will be £5 On the Door. We are also Launching the music event from Two's Company Studios in Old Market Bristol, just a few doors down from Exchange. Presenting you with an Art Exhibition to kick things of for the night! 1. Bonfire Stories This track is inspired by the subtle whispers of a cold winter night away from the troubles of the western world. Gathering together as a community to find warmth in dark times. The world moves quickly all around us sometimes staring into silence is a meditative way of understanding the power of time and expressing thought through landscapes and visual complexities, widening the eye to found sound and the distant echo of the world around us.
Reminiscence This piece was written with New Zealand boss man Pugilist. 1 half of Dubstep duo Perverse, he teamed up with Akira to be co - narrator of 'Reminiscence'. This is a story told from one side of the world to the other, starting out in the northern hemisphere and floating down through the waves to the Southern hemisphere. Groove Inspiration, garage evolution - Akira and Pugilist our bringing the sound to lift the spirit and bring the energy back for the final chapter of the EP.
3.Freedom As we evolve our mind becomes free to express what it wants rather than what we have been growing up and being told to believe. It's an important time in one's life as they start to think for their self and conjure up self expression and know what truly want out of life. We grow - into freedom. This track is picking up the movement introducing a techno inspired rhythm.
2.Conceptual Dreaming This is an Abstract examination of dreaming itself. Traveling a timeless journey through inner space and discovering its beauty by leaving logic behind and using unconscious to benefit your mind state, translating the universe into what you want it to be and overcoming the tension and grounding yourself to the music around you, as a dynamic entity riding a Lucid current towards a cosmic belief. This track was co produced by Ciaran Sobczak (Aethereal). Conceptual Dreaming also comes with an Official video courtesy of Shadow Fox which you can watch here : www.youtube.com/watch?v=sECT89bp_fc
