Welcome to the seventh episode of the Cosmic Soul Podcast. Taking you through with a diverse selection as always and talking about up and coming cosmic endeavours! (Feel Free to DL this podcast like always!) Cosmic Soul Collective are back and very proud to announce their 1st birthday celebration at Exchange, Old Market, Bristol. Celebrating the power of Art & Music, in experimentally organic forms, we present an evening of mesmerizingly deep live music. LINE UP: ASH WALKER EXPERIENCE (Bristol Debut) Describing his current sound as trip-hop with an abstract twist, Ash incorporates an intoxicatingly heavy dub reggae bottom end with samples of original material – all firmly rooted in jazz harmony. Ash has supported acts such as The Specials, Lee Scratch Perry, and David Rodigan, and now signed to Deep Heads, his productions are receiving the increased attention they deserve. Now performing live with a four piece band which has evolved the sets into an experience to remember. The band, Marc Cyril on Bass, Tim Shackman on Drums, Lord Laville on vocals and Ash Walker on Leads, Keys, Melodica, Vocals, Dub siren, tape delays and everything in between! We are very excited to have them bless the stage at Exchange, presenting an emotively powerful performance that will be truly special! AUXX https://soundcloud.com/auxxmusic Auxx is an experimental musician and sound designer based in Brighton, UK. His recent independent work has been supported by artists from the network of Ninja Tune, Warp and Brainfeeder; with remixes for Daedelus, Plaid and Kidkanevil of the Red Bull Music Academy. With a technical approach to his 2018 live show, his new unreleased work intertwines the ethereal chaos of a new dystopia, hinting at unique melodic soundscapes to bridge you into the unfamiliar. Charli Brix https://soundcloud.com/mangojuicemusic/jevon-ives-head-in-the-clouds Charli Brix is a London born musician, writer & aspiring producer. Floating between electronic and soul, her vocals are most recognisable weaved between moody rollers released on some of the most revered labels within drum and bass. Rooted firmly in r&b and soul, 2018 sees a more down tempo side of Charli’s productions; with the inception of her neo-soul collective ‘Milk & Honey’ & collaborations with some of Bristol’s finest r&b artists, it’s time to strip back to her roots delivering nothing but organic, soulful expression. Aaliyah Esprit Music Aaliyah Esprit is a singer who’s versed in soul-jazz legends as much as the hip-hop beatmakers who’ve flipped their records. Her music finds a sweet spot between those two worlds. Working with producers melding hard-edged production with a melodic hue, her vocals add a timeless, soulful quality. Based in Bristol, she’s part of the Cosmic Soul Collective, but has also picked up the attention of Brownswoods own, Giles Peterson who has signed her up for his Further Bubblers scheme. The future is looking bright for young Aaliyah. Indira May https://soundcloud.com/indie-may Keeping it organic and fresh, Indira is an upcoming singer/songwriter from Brighton. Having worked with Hip Hop artists such as Nomad and Eskimoe, expect Jazz influenced Rhythm & Blues with an experimental twist. Keep your eyes peeled for the launch of her EP and latest debut video in the next few months. Really excited to hear her unique voice and style + Support from... Akira Neroli / Jevon Ives / Mendaya / 2HONEYS / Åethereal The Night will be hosted D-Los Tickets will be £5 On the Door. We are also Launching the music event from Two's Company Studios in Old Market Bristol, just a few doors down from Exchange. Presenting you with an Art Exhibition to kick things of for the night! Receive discounted entry off the Music Event if you attend the Exhibition.
This week I welcome a guest mix from Yorkshire native, London located, Tokyo Spirited producer & DJ Kidkanevil. The mix is a departure away from the style of previous mixes in the series and rather then focusing on underground club sounds he has put together a mix looking at some of the music from his favourite anime soundtracks. As a big anime fan myself I am overjoyed to be able to share this mix and hopefully allow people an insight into the beauty that can be found in the scores to many of these incredible films. To start things off I have put together a couple of tracks that i feel embody the style and feel of anime movie soundtracks, and I could certainly see all of these tracks in the scores to some of my favourite anime films. It features music from Bwana, Kenji Kawai, Geinoh Yamashirogumi, Ahmed Malek & Flako, Congi, Paleman plus more. enjoy

Intro : - Lisa Spada : Remembering Spring 2. Almost the holidays (and do I have a gift for you this year) and I may just barely make it. But the chances look good - one last push, right. I remember something about the light brigade at moments like these. But the music! Got to love the music! It might be the worlds only saving grace 3 times out of 10. Right anyways, so I missed last month, so this month is a bit of what I've been listening to for both. The stand out tracks, too many to name, check out the opener by Anita Tijoux - it was going to be my birthday track but whatever. The Smiles make you feel good about the mugging and your lost wages. And the blessed return of Holy Fuck with the Tounces inspired sound track Red Lights. King Khan finally gets some air time - I don't know how I missed that scene. King Charles brings the fuzzed out love, Jeff Spec lays out some fantastic old skool against the Most Sampled Man in HipHop the epynoumous drummer for the funky James Brown in "Clyde Stubblefeild". And the Braids bring the orchestral twee pop - and the stand out modern compositions track from Hauschka, "Alexanderplatz" minimals its way to the blown out rusted tub thumping of Kidkanevil (with helps from the Bonobo) as our closer. 01. Anita Tijoux - 1977 02. The Smiles - Cala Cola 03. David Vertesi - All Night, All Night, All Night 04. Holy Fuck - Red Lights 05. King Khan & The Shrines - Land of the Freak 06. MI + AMORE – Wise Blood 07. King Charles - Love Lust 08. Jeff Spec - Clyde Stubblefield 09. STRT SRNS – Wise Blood 10. Terry Ohms - Red Wine on White Pants 11. Broken Bells The - High-Road 12. Braids - Lemonade 13. Hauschka - Alexanderplatz 14. Kidkanevil - Ketto Revisited ft Bonobo Image: From Cat and Girl - I wanted to reimagine a whole strip moved from the humanities to the sciences but am still working out the ramifications of it all. But it is also as a small signifier of my own expanse into the science minded bloggosphere where I am abetting my love of music with my other love - pragmatic evaluations of experimental observations. What I'm Reading Now: Getting What You Came For by Robert L. Peters (some fine advice there, highly recommended)
Kidkanevil, straight outta Tokyorkshire, beat banger and hat wearer.
