Welcome to the Georges River Life podcast channel. We are a disciple-making community, growing along the Georges River and beyond, revealing the love and life of Jesus today, impacting thousands of lives for eternity.
Revelation 20,21 This week we come to the end of our half year long telling of the great story of Jesus the King and His Kingdom. We explore how the book of Revelation describes what is to come and how this vision can fill us with a deep hope in life in the face of our present sufferings.
Our journey through the big story of the kingdom is nearing its destination, and this week we shift from looking back to looking forward. We explore how the story ends and one of the topics Jesus most spoke on - judgement! Who does the judging, when and on what basis are we to be judged. These are neither light nor uncontroversial questions but are indeed central to the good news of the Kingdom. I hope, by the end you will discover that judgement is indeed good news. ~ Pastor Scott Morrison
As John Stott famously said, “our God is a missionary God.” But are we His missionary people, partnering with Him in the revealing of His Kingdom? This Sunday Scott will be teaching from Matthew 5:1-16 to help us explore the who, how and why of mission for every disciple today.
The New Testament assumes that believing in Jesus and being filled with His Spirit is life changing. But is it? And if so how? This Sunday we reflect on God's vision for life in the kingdom and explore key ways to foster a kingdom shaped life inside the life we are already living.
God's people flourishing as he envisaged right back in Genesis 12:1-3. This is a community that is blessed to be a blessing, living in a way that is intentional, holistic, communal, selfless and missional.
This Sunday as we enter the second half of our Kingdom Series. For the next three messages in the series we explore how the outpouring of the Holy Spirit shapes and empowers life in the Kingdom, starting with how the Spirit brings a new reality around our identity and purpose in life.
We have been journeying through the big story of scripture for several months now, trying toget our bearings on this thing called 'the gospel of the Kingdom' that Jesus continually taughtand demonstrated. In simple terms, the 'Kingdom' is wherever the will and way of God is donein partnership with people for the blessing of all creation. Our job is to partner with God in all things that express His will and way...
This Palm Sunday we trace the long journey of Israel's longing for a king all the way to Jesus. We will examine what kind of king they wanted, the kinds of kings they got and the stark contrast to the kind of king they needed.
What is a "nation of priests"? Why did God want a tent? What does holiness look like? Where does the Law of the Old Testament fit into faith today? And how does all this relate to the grand narrative of the Kingdom of God? In this bonus sermon in the series, we explore how these themes weave together to form the blueprints of the kingdom of God - both for the original recipients, and us today.
This week, we explore the beginning of God's unrelenting plan to restore us to his Kingdom and blessing. With Abraham, humanity begins the long slow journey of unlearning and relearning just who God really is. We will overview most of Genesis with special attention to Genesis 12, 15 and 22. These are some of the most important passages in the Old Testament and critical to understanding the gospel of the kingdom and how to read scripture in general.
In this message Pastor Scott Morrison speaks about sin – what is it, where it comes from and what are its consequences? Not because we all need a good dose of condemnation but because we need a good dose of hope and to see that even though our lives are impacted by sin, they need not be defined by it. After all, we are comfort loving creatures. But what if God is way more concerned with our growth than our comfort? What if his preference is not to come back, but to come forward – to step forward with Him, for Him and through Him. This week we examine his invitation to us through his invitation to one of his closest disciples, Peter. My hope is that you will be renewed in your faith to come forward with us into the year ahead. We are all being shaped by the stories that we are living. What story is driving your life? This week, Matt Gray explores how the gospel radically re-shaped Paul's life. The gospel reminds us that the story of Jesus is the greatest story that has ever been told. Like Paul, if we catch a glimpse of the magnitude and splendour of the gospel we will never be the same. This week, Scott shares with us a powerful idea flowing though our culture is that you can be spiritual without being specific or dogmatic. Is there a spiritual truth that trumps the others or is one person's theory as good as the next. In Acts 17 Paul addresses the agnostic world view and points them, and us, to the God who is before and behind all creation. This message challenges us that we can no longer sit on the spiritual fence pleading ignorance. This is a great message to share via social media with your wider family and friends. If you have any questions about this message please email us at media@glrc.org.au Our worship, teaching and news commences live from 9.30am every Sunday morning. Come and join us online.
