Where Mickey Mouse and fairy tales fracture minds, programming victims for elite control. Cathy O'Brien lived this nightmare as a Project Monarch slave under CIA's MK-Ultra, enduring abuse from presidents, senators, and Hollywood icons. In this episode, she exposes how trauma-based mind control shattered her psyche, using Disney films and parks as hypnotic tools. But the horror doesn't end there: these tactics now target society through media and politics. Join us as Cathy reveals the dark agenda lurking behind your favorite fantasies. You'll never trust the "Happiest Place on Earth" again. Send us a textWhen churches call clergy sexual abuse “moral failings” or “affairs,” they obscure the truth: predatory pastors groom adult congregants using tactics that mirror coercive control and intimate partner violence.Counselor and researcher Jaime Simpson joins us to dismantle myths about consent in faith settings, drawing from her study Broken, Shattered and Spiritually Battered: Groom Pastors Who Prey on Adult Congregation Members. Focusing on evangelical and Pentecostal communities in Australia, her findings reveal systemic grooming—romantic, therapeutic, and spiritual deception—layered with isolation, boundary violations, and theology-based coercion and systematic collusion with perpetrators to hide their criminal behaviours and shield them from accountability with the use of spiritually based forgiveness rituals. Simpson shows how purity culture, male authority, and loyalty to leadership prime congregations for collusion, silence and exploitation, while institutions minimize sexual violence but act swiftly on financial crimes. Her message to survivors: “You weren't complicit. What happened to you was not your fault.” Now available! A thundering and loud BOOM shook a military base in Afghanistan. There was dust everywhere, like that of an enraged sandstorm. Shattered buildings, walls caved in, and a video revealed the story of how 1,500 pounds of high explosives threatened the lives of those in the military base. But there was a burnt and twisted piece of metal from that vehicle-borne improvised explosive device that revealed another story. Our host kept that twisted metal piece as a reminder of God's protection for him.NOTE: Long periods of silence (mainly at the beginning and end) were removed for clarity. ===== MDJ Script/ Top Stories for August 8th Publish Date:  August 8th    Commercial: From the BG AD Group Studio, Welcome to the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast.    Today is Friday, August 8th and Happy Birthday to Roger Federer I’m Keith Ippolito and here are the stories Cobb is talking about, presented by Times Journal Charges dropped against man accused in Cobb Walmart kidnapping case Cobb hosts annual night of unity between residents and public safety officials Traffic stop in Austell leads to meth trafficking charges Plus, Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on peaches All of this and more is coming up on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen and subscribe!  BREAK: Ingles Markets 10 STORY 1: Charges dropped against man accused in Cobb Walmart kidnapping case After months of stress, accusations, and uncertainty, Mahendra Patel is finally free. On Wednesday, prosecutors dropped all charges against the Cobb County man, who had been accused of attempting to kidnap a toddler at a north Cobb Walmart back in March. Patel, who spent 45 days in jail and lost 17 pounds surviving on bread and peanut butter, called the ordeal “a punishment in itself.” His mugshot? Still everywhere. His reputation? Shattered. But now, at least, he can breathe. Surveillance footage, which Patel’s attorney Ashleigh Merchant said was key to clearing his name, showed Patel briefly interacting with the child’s mother, Caroline Miller, while searching for Tylenol. What prosecutors initially called an attempted kidnapping was, in Patel’s words, “a misunderstanding blown out of proportion.” A Change.org petition supporting Patel gathered over 92,000 signatures, and even inmates who once threatened him apologized after reading about his case. STORY 2: Cobb hosts annual night of unity between residents and public safety officials Badges, block parties, and a whole lot of community spirit filled Jim Miller Park for Cobb County’s National Night Out. Since 1984, this nationwide event has been all about building bridges between public safety officers and the people they serve. And on Tuesday night? It was all smiles, dunk tanks, and even axe throwing. Families wandered through booths from the Cobb Sheriff’s Office, Fire Department, 911 dispatchers, and more. Kids laughed, parents asked questions, and stuffed K-9 toys were sold to support the real-life furry officers. For Zanetia Henry, the night was personal. After losing her son Dre to gun violence in 2019, she’s dedicated herself to uniting communities through her nonprofit, Operation Recovery. “Unity takes everyone,” she said, presenting awards to officers who’ve gone above and beyond. Cobb Police Capt. Jason Best, reflecting on his 28 years of service, said it best: “We usually see people at their worst. Tonight, we get to just talk—no tickets, no arrests. Just people connecting.” STORY 3: Traffic stop in Austell leads to meth trafficking charges  Jack Randall Roberts, 68, and Justin Daniell Roberts, 30, both from Gay, Georgia, were arrested on July 31 after police allegedly found them with about a kilogram of methamphetamine. It all went down around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Garrett Road and C.H. James Parkway in Austell. Jack, driving a 2008 Ford Focus, reportedly stopped too far past the stop line—an innocent enough mistake, right? Except during the traffic stop, officers discovered the drugs, according to the warrant. Both men were booked into the Cobb County jail that evening. No bond. No release. Just a whole lot of trouble. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.799.6810 for more info.  We’ll be right back. Break: COBB INT. FESITVAL STORY 4: Expect lane closures as Atlanta Gas Light begins major pipeline work Atlanta Gas Light is gearing up to kick off the Wade Green Road Phase II Pressure Improvement Project this month—a big deal for Cobb and Cherokee counties. The plan? Lay down 5.5 miles of new natural gas pipeline. Construction crews will be working near Moon Station Road, Baker Road, Woodstock Road, and Highway 92, Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Heads up: expect lane closures and some traffic headaches through late 2025, with cleanup stretching into spring 2026. The city says the project will boost system reliability during high demand and create jobs. Got questions? Check out atlantagaslight.com or email wadegreen@southernco.com. STORY 5: Community Colleges of Appalachia sign transfer agreement with WGU Leaders from Community Colleges of Appalachia (CCA) and Western Governors University (WGU) just inked a deal that could be a game-changer for Appalachian students. The agreement lets residents earn WGU’s accredited online degrees and certificates without leaving their hometowns—no uprooting, no long commutes. CCA, with 85 member colleges from Mississippi to New York (including five in Georgia), is all about serving local communities. This partnership? It’s about making higher education more accessible. Graduates and employees of CCA schools can transfer credits to WGU, skip redundant coursework, and even apply for $3,000 Learn Where You Live Scholarships. WGU’s flexible, competency-based programs—spanning business, tech, healthcare, and education—are designed for busy lives. Tuition? About $4,000 per six-month term, and students can tackle as many courses as they’re ready for. For details, check out ccofapp.org or wgu.edu. I'm excited to bring you this interview with my good friend Cindy Manly of Art Shattered. Cindy has a successful membership with over 1200 members and has been selling one-time art supply kits for the past few years. If you've been selling one-time boxes and are wondering if a subscription is for you, you're going to want to hear Cindy's story!  Cindy is an artist who specializes in glass and resin art. She makes beautiful, unique pieces of 3-D art that her followers LOVE. She also teaches her followers how to create their own art through her online membership. Cindy started her membership in 2018 and now has over 1200 members.  When some of Cindy's members started asking where to get the supplies they needed to create the pieces she was teaching - and others mentioned they were having a hard time finding the right supplies - she started selling one-off kits. Every time she offered up a kit for sale, she sold out. When she offered kits during her membership pre-launch, she sold 800 full kits and 500 partial kits.  Cindy and I have been friends for several years and I've been telling her almost that long that she needed to start a subscription box. She resisted the idea for a long time. But after selling 1300 kits during her pre-launch, she was convinced.  Armed with the launch plan she learned inside Launch Your Box and as a member of my Mastermind and backed by her audience of raving fans, Cindy launched her subscription box in June.  The result? She sold out of all 500 available spots in her quarterly subscription! And she used four strategies to do it.  Urgency - Cindy opened the subscription only to her online membership for 48 hours.  Waitlist - Cindy then opened up to members of the waitlist she'd been growing for three weeks leading up to the launch.  Early Bird Bonus Engaging her audience - on her last LIVE, Cindy added names on post-it notes to her wall of subscribers.  Cindy originally wanted to only plan for 200 boxes, but I convinced her she could absolutely do more. And she did! She's also an absolute genius who packed her subscription boxes ahead of time and had them ready to ship BEFORE she launched! That meant when she was exhausted from her launch - and if you do it right, you will be exhausted - Cindy headed straight to the beach!  500 subscribers means additional financial security for Cindy, the satisfaction of knowing she is serving her loyal audience in yet another way, and steady employment for her team. I can't wait to watch Cindy's subscription box continue to grow.  Join me for this episode as Cindy walks us through her journey of moving from offering one-time boxes to launching a subscription box and welcoming 500 new subscribers.   Find and follow Cindy:  Art Shattered on Instagram Art Shattered on Facebook  Art Shattered Website Join me in all the places:  Facebook Instagram Launch Your Box with Sarah Website  Are you ready for Launch Your Box? How the Devil's Den Park Killer Shattered a Community's Sense of Safety Description: This wasn't just a murder. It was a rupture—one that tore through the collective sense of safety in an otherwise peaceful hiking community. In this episode, psychotherapist Shavaun Scott joins Tony Brueski to unpack how the Devil's Den murders have left residents of Prairie Grove, Fayetteville, and surrounding areas rethinking everything from outdoor routines to how we raise our kids. We talk about communal trauma, how a single violent act can ripple through a town, and why even catching the killer won't immediately restore trust. From parents now second-guessing every decision to communities wondering if they'll ever feel safe again, this episode is a deep dive into what fear does to our wiring—and how to live with it when it's suddenly real. Shavaun also addresses how media exposure, police silence, and the lingering mystery around the killer's identity contribute to long-term anxiety, vigilance, and the loss of what we thought was “normal.” And we reflect on that final moment—the words “Why are you doing this?”—and what they reveal about the trauma that now lives in everyone who's touched this case. This is more than a crime. It's a cultural shift. And this is how it begins. In this jaw-dropping segment, the entire Russia collusion narrative is flipped on its head. Documents meant to be destroyed in FBI burn bags—but miraculously preserved—reveal a truth more shocking than fiction: it was Russia that hacked the Open Society Foundation, not the DNC, and what they found was a confessional memo detailing how Hillary Clinton's campaign fabricated the Trump-Russia hoax from the start. The memo, written by a Soros Foundation official, exposes coordination between the Clinton campaign, the DNC, and FBI-tied cybersecurity firms like CrowdStrike to manufacture a narrative—explicitly due to a “lack of direct evidence.” The hoax was not only approved by Clinton herself, it was planned as a long-term operation to demonize Trump and Putin. Despite subpoenas, this information was hidden from Congress and buried by the intelligence community. Devin Nunes now confirms key emails were withheld from investigators, leaving the public and even the courts in the dark. The consequences? A presidency undermined, lives ruined, and a media still refusing to report the truth.

A Shattered Heart, A Certain Hope - #10056

A Word With You

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 28, 2025

I'd done my whole adult life with my Karen, the only woman I ever needed. Suddenly, I had to figure out how to do the rest of my life without her. That Sunday night, we sat in the bleachers at our local football stadium and we watched our grandson graduate from high school as valedictorian and he gave a faith-filled valedictory message. Monday afternoon, she was gone. Wrapped in this huddle of sobs with our three adult children, I just choked out the words, "It hurts so bad." It really does. After some time, I'd walk into our living room, I'd still instinctively look for that beautiful hair. I called it her "crown of glory" as she sat in her favorite blue chair. I would go to make that oatmeal that she loved for breakfast. I turn to tell her about a conversation or situation and to hear her trademark laugh over my dumb jokes. Our four-year-old grandson said it all the first time he ran into our living room and saw her chair empty. He just ran back to his mommy and said, "Mommy, you were right. She's not here." No, she's not, and she won't be again. I probably shed more tears in those weeks than I've shed the rest of my life. But I have a story to tell. Actually, it's the Story that I've tried to tell folks my whole adult life. And suddenly I was living its ultimate validation. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "A Shattered Heart, A Certain Hope." Everything I've ever believed, everything I've ever taught about my Jesus is true! Everything that my death-crushing Savior promised, I can tell you, He delivers in the darkest, most devastating days of my life! He said of those who have put their total trust in His death on the cross for their sins, and this is in our word for today from the Word of God in John 14:19. He said, "Because I live, you will live also." Because Karen's Savior is alive, so is this woman I love. In God's own words, we have "a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead" (1 Peter 1:3). I'm not talking about some "cross your fingers" hope. This is living hope. Hope is a Person - Jesus. He trampled death as He blasted out of His grave on Easter morning. The hope that is holding my heart together is as sure as our hope that spring will follow a seemingly endless winter. Spring is a sure thing. So is heaven for those who've pinned all their hopes on the One who died so we could go there. As much as I love Karen, she is now with the One who loves her the most. This amazing Jesus has got my Karen. And He's got me. I can tell you that by the peace that has lasted across the years now. That peace, along with that certain hope of a forever spring after this cold winter, is a powerful counterbalance on that scale that is so weighed down by grief. Through all my darkest hours, through my loneliest moments, the peace has never been shaken. Oh, this Jesus I've talked about, that I've written about, I've believed in all these years has come closer and become more real to me than ever before. He promised He would be, as the Bible says, "close to the brokenhearted" (Psalm 34:18). He really, really is. When you walk through the valley of the shadow, you've got to have Jesus to go there. And when you walk across that final frontier beyond our death, you've got to know you belong to Jesus. If you're not sure of that, would you please make this the day you get that settled? Tell Him, "Jesus, what you died for was me. I am yours. You're alive! I want you to live in me." Check out our website - you can find there how to be sure you belong to Him. That website is ANewStory.com. Look, I'm in the biggest storm of my life - the Cat 5 hurricane, the EF-5 tornado. Jesus is my safe room. Is He yours? He's stronger than the storm. The Bible says, "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure" (Hebrews 6:19). And my friend, The Anchor holds.

Amrita is a former Fortune 500 VP who has devoted 22+ years of her career to helping organizations thrive amid crises. Her work is dedicated to providing education and practical solutions for individuals and communities worldwide. Tell us about your personal experience of living through trauma and how it changed you? How can pain lead to growth? The pandemic is still largely under-processed. What makes you say that? Should we not move on? And denial is not a choice folks seem to be making. Do people want to process what they experienced during COVID? What were your research findings? Why do we need a two-way to process pain? How can and did pain lead to growth? Amrita Subramanian Amrita is a former Fortune 500 VP who has devoted 22+ years of her career to helping organizations thrive amid crises. Currently, she teaches at the University of Pennsylvania, focusing on posttraumatic growth through the pandemic, and has also almost completed her Ph.D on post-traumatic growth in adults through COVID-19. As the world faced COVID, the first collective trauma/crisis disruption in modern-day history, Amrita launched a first-of-its-kind study to explore how pain leads to growth and analyze our ability to heal ourselves during an unparalleled crisis. Her work is dedicated to providing education and practical solutions for individuals and communities worldwide. Her lessons draw from the evidence-based practices of everyday people who have shown heartfelt humility and wisdom in the face of crisis and devastation. The research study has amassed global participation, and she is convinced that it will show the pandemic strengthened us and renewed our sense of identity, purpose, and community. Amrita knows well that there is growth from trauma based on what she's endured in her own life. At the age of five, she was abandoned in a convent. The trauma and abuse she endured throughout that time resulted in selective mutism until she was 11 years old, among other things. Amrita is now using her voice to help guide humanity and speak out about the many facets of pain and what good could come from them. Brandon Tierney unleashes a fiery critique on Anthony Volpe's recent performance, calling his current play closer to "minor leaguer" than "elite." Tierney expresses frustration with the Yankees' management for downplaying Volpe's struggles, which include a dismal batting average and a league-leading 12 errors. He questions whether Volpe can overhaul his mechanics mid-season and highlights the Yankees' recent draft picks of multiple shortstops as a clear message to the struggling young player. The discussion emphasizes the dire state of the Yankees' offense and defense, with callers chiming in on the team's overall fundamental issues and lack of "Yankee blood" in the coaching staff.

Joey’s back has been hurting for a few weeks, and he needed to take some medicine for it. He only had kid’s strength Advil at home, so he took some, then worried if it okay was for adults to take kid medicine. Fanboy Expo happened over the weekend and lots of people came to town to meet celebrities. Who would you drive multiple hours to meet? Nancy and her family went to New York City this weekend. Her 12-year-old and his friend did not care about any of the iconic tourist spots. Instead, all they wanted to do was go to the ice cream museum. They also saw their first ever topless woman while walking through Times Square. Joey saw the new Superman movie again and loved it! The guy sitting in front of him was in a full Superman costume. Karly went to Fanboy Expo and saw several Supermans and a few furries. Hot Tea: Jelly Roll and Logan Paul are going to fight in WWE. George Strait is doing a concert to benefit the flood victims in Texas. Facial recognition was used to identify a woman who was twerking on top of a cop car. Do you really have to wait 30 minutes after eating to go swimming? NOPE! It’s a myth! When Nancy was flying to NYC, the plane had to make an emergency landing because the plane’s windshield SHATTERED! She then had to take a 3-hour taxi ride from Philidelphia to New York. Lucky 7 A study found people’s favorite American accents, and the Cajun accent is apparently people’s favorite? There’s a new hack going viral for how to cool off your car- open a window on the passenger side and pump the driver’s side door to out the hot air out. If you want to cool your house down, cover your windows with a layer of yogurt. Joey’s family keeps playing pickleball and they love it! It’s nice to have a physical activity that all members of the family enjoy doing. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
