We covered the self-titled debut album from Crosby, Stills & Nash in episode 137. Deja Vu is considered the second Crosby, Stills & Nash album, but it is actually the first album by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, with Canadian songwriter Neil Young turning the trio into a quartet. While the album continues to feature the signature harmonies associated with Crosby, Stills & Nash, it has a harder, more rocking edge to it. Some of this is undoubtedly due to the addition of Neil Young to the album, but it also reflects the challenges the group members were facing. Both Stephen Stills and Graham Nash had gone through break-ups in their relationships, and David Crosby tragically had lost his girlfriend Christine Hinton in a car accident. The album was highly anticipated, generating $2 million in pre-sales before its release. It became a gold record only 14 days after release, and was on the Billboard 200 album chart for 88 weeks. Contemporary critics provided mixed reviews, but the album has only grown in stature over time, with many reviews considering it amongst the top albums ever produced. Deja Vu was inducted into the Grammy Hall of fame in 2012.After its release, each of the principal members of the group would record solo albums, and the success of Deja Vu contributed to the individual success of these four solo projects.Crosby, Stills & Nash (and sometimes Young) would continue to produce albums over the decades with their last collaboration occurring in 2015. The death of David Crosby in 2023 ended the possibility of full reunions.Wayne brings us this soft rock singer-songwriter live album for this week's podcast. Carry OnThe opening track to the album was penned by Stephen Stills who also provides lead vocals. It is a medley of two songs edited together with a jam session connector, and came together surprisingly fast during a time when most songs were taking a long time to finish. The lyrics encourage the band members to keep going through times of struggle in relationships both within and outside the band.Teach Your ChildrenGraham Nash wrote this song in 1968 when he was with The Hollies, but had not recorded it with that group at the time. Nash has associated the song with a photograph exhibit showing a child playing with a toy hand grenade, and the lyrics encourage parents to be careful in how they teach their children. Neil Young does not play on this song, but the steel guitar is provided by Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead. WoodstockUnlike the other tracks on this album, this song was not written by any of the band members, but was penned by Joni Mitchell. Mitchell had not attended the Woodstock festival, but was inspired to write this song told from the perspective of a concert goer after hearing her then-boyfriend Graham Nash relay the account. It has become a signature song for the group and a staple of the 60's counter-culture. Our HouseGraham Nash wrote this song as a description of a day spent with then-girlfriend Joni Mitchell and her two cats in their Laurel Canyon home. The song was written in an hour on Mitchel's piano. It went to number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:Theme from the motion Picture "Patton"This epic starring George C. Scott was playing in the theaters in 1970. It won seven Academy awards, including Best Picture. STAFF PICKS:Let It Be by The BeatlesLynch starts the staff picks with a song inspired by a dream. Paul McCartney's mother, Mary Patricia McCartney, died of cancer with Paul was 14. In the dream, his mother encourages her son by saying, "It's all right, just let it be." This single and title song from the final Beatles album debuted at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 before topping those charts.Cecilia by Simon & GarfunkelRob brings us the third single from the fifth and final album by Simon & Garfunkel, "Bridge Over Troubled Water." It was developed in a late night jam when the duo and friends were banging on a piano bench and recording the sound with a tape recorder. The lyrics depict the heartbreak of a boy delivered from Cecilia his unfaithful lover. The Rapper by The JaggerzBruce features the most successful single from the band whose guitarist and primary songwriter would go on to be Donny Iris. The song is a warning to the ladies not to be taken in by a smooth talking man telling them lies. It went to number 2 on the charts.Superlungs My Supergirl by Terry ReidWayne's closes out the staff picks with a cover originally written by Donovan about a 14-year old groupie. Terry Reid was Jimmy Page's first pick to be lead singer of Led Zeppelin, but was unavailable at the time due to his touring schedule with Cream and the Rolling Stones. Reid would acquire the nickname of Superlungs. NOVELTY TRACK:Pineapple and the Monkey by The FacesThis instrumental from The Faces debut album takes us out for this week. George Goncalves, Head of Macro Strategy in the Americas, reviewed the economic backdrop and market sentiment heading into another critical week in the US. George made a comprehensive case that the jobs data will likely continue to soften with the unemployment rate notably moving much higher, maybe starting with the June NFP data release. George concludes by recapping his monthly report and noting the irony that uncertainty is lifting on the policy front in DC, yet the consumer is likely tapped out, arguing for the Fed to cut soon. That said, George acknowledges everything has to go "perfect" for the Fed to cut in July. If the Fed doesn't cut in July, George expects them to cut in September & argues the longer they wait, the more they will have to cut (which opens the possibility of a 50bp cut in September - 2024 Deja Vu).
It's deja vu all over again… the Padres offense is non-existent. Jackson Merrill and Tatis in the month of June….yikes

This Diamondbacks season feels familiar.
Did we send the wrong audio file to Steve? Was it an episode from months ago? Did you feel you'd heard it before? Well, welcome to the Valleycast. Here's the original description, which should, in theory, actually be relevant to the episode you're about to listen to... UNLESS THIS IS ALL A SIMULATION! Well, my brilliant idea to title this episode, "Part Two: Elliott Takes the Red Pill (He's a neo-n#zi now)" did not go according to plan. Why? Two words. Steve. Zaragoza. Happy. Birthday. That's four words, but still. It was Steve's birthday so he took the weekend off, which kept us from talking about our insane experience watching the Matrix. So in honor of Steve's birthday, I've decided to publicly slander him. We love you Steve, regardless of your political views!
After the tragic events surrounding the assault of Dinah and the violent retaliation that followed, Jacob's life is once again turned upside down. In mercy and patience, God repeats His command for Jacob to go to Bethel, not just to visit, but to dwell there and build an altar. In obedience and perhaps an increase in faith and trust, Jacob purges his household of foreign gods and idols and takes responsibility for his family's spiritual welfare. At Bethel, God appears again, just as He had before, and reaffirms His covenant promises. God renames Jacob “Israel” again, a reminder not of God's forgetfulness, but of His persistent grace. Once more, we see that God's love and mercy far outweigh our sins. The Rev. Dr. John Rickert, retired pastor in South Carolina, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Genesis 35. Genesis isn't just the start of the Bible; it's the foundation of everything. Creation, sin, judgment, grace, covenant, and promise all take root in this remarkable book. The stories are ancient, but their truths are eternal. In this new series from Thy Strong Word, Pastor Phil Booe and his guests walk verse by verse through Genesis, exploring how God reveals Himself as Creator, Judge, and Redeemer. From the grandeur of the cosmos to the struggles of ordinary families, Genesis introduces us to a God who speaks, acts, and keeps His promises. So, whether you've read it a hundred times or are just now cracking it open for a serious look, this series will help you see Genesis with fresh eyes—and a deeper faith.

This week on The Gedunk Show, Dan and Bobby unpack the uncomfortable truth: how Biden's visible mental decline during his first term opened the door to Trump's return—and how Trump is now doubling down on dysfunction, corruption, and chaos. From foreign policy failures to unchecked authoritarianism, we ask: how did we get here again, and what happens next if we don't learn from it? Tune in for hard truths, historical parallels, and the leadership America deserves—but isn't getting.
Foundations of Amateur Radio Right off the bat, let me start with a question. "What do you think you're doing?" To give you some context, it should come as no surprise that I'm talking about amateur radio and what it is that we do, you and I, when we "do amateur radio". Of course the answer is different for every person you ask, and it's likely to change over time. So, let's explore and fair warning, if you know me at all, you'll realise that I'll be asking more questions, so here goes. Is this an activity that you do, for yourself, or for others? Is it a hobby, or a vocation, or something else? Do you use this as part of your life outside this community and if you do, how? At this point I hope you're getting a sense of Deja-Vu all over again, in that I'm asking you to explore your own place in the community. I'm asking because it occurs to me that we spend an awful lot of time looking in the other direction. How do we compare skills and knowledge against other amateurs, how does our shack compare with another, how does our antenna stack up, which modes have you used, what things have you activated, how much power do you use? All things that might form part of the activity of amateur radio, but fail to look at you as a person and your role in this. For example, have you considered if you're interested in helping new amateurs, or would you rather just do your own thing? What about how you gain skills? Would you rather read a book, watch a YouTube video, attend a class or play with others? If you're considering upgrading your license to gain more responsibilities, are you doing that for yourself, or are you doing it because of peer pressure? If you've been part of the hobby for a little while you'll have discovered that radio amateurs are everywhere, often in unexpected places. With that comes the realisation that this implies that we have members who represent all of humanity in all its many-splendored complexity. Where in that spectrum are you and what is your role in participating in that wider community, and is your role what you want it to be? One of the themes I've discovered over the years is insecurity. A recurring perception is that amateurs who've attained the highest license level are somehow "more" amateur than those who are on another journey. Where do you fit in that? How do you perceive amateurs with differing license classes? Do you apply the same metric to moped, car and truck licenses? How do you compare yourself against those who are not amateurs and how did you step into your license? I'm going to stop with the questions now and leave you with a thought. The hobby of amateur radio is a playground where you have the freedom to explore radio and all that it offers, but nobody said that you need to limit yourself to radio. I'm Onno VK6FLAB

Welcome back to The Culture Garden Podcast! This week, Rachel and Kieron head back to 2006 and dive into the Denzel Washington-led thriller Déjà Vu. Ironically, the conversation kicks off with a real sense of déjà vu — both hosts recall loving this movie way more than they do now. It's not bad, just… slower than they remembered. In this episode, we explore the film's take on time travel, the emotional and historical significance of it being the first major movie filmed in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, and why the writers of Déjà Vu point fingers at director Tony Scott for its unrealized potential. As always, we appreciate you for rocking with us. Don't forget to subscribe, like, comment, and share.Y'all be cool how y'all be cool!

Watch the full coverage of the live stream on The Emily D Baker YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/live/QZlJIBMCSsMDay 11 of the Karen Read Retrial happened on May 7, 2025. It feels like Deja Vu for Emily because it is her birthday and last year she was covering Day 6 of the first Karen Read trial! The Prosecution's case said it would take 3 weeks and half to present their case and they are more than halfway through, but several key witnesses, such as Former Trooper Michael Proctor, have not yet been called.Trooper Connor Keefe took the stand and displayed physical evidence, including pieces of tail light and a shoe, was shown to the jury. There was an issue with the evidence bag containing tail light pieces being marked as "two pieces" when there were actually three. Defense Attorney David Yanetti had an effective Cross Examination and Keefe tried to distance himself from Former Trooper Proctor or even say that he does good work. Yanetti pointed out that Keefe is a junior detective, and he was the only person who attended John O'Keefe's autopsy. It is usually the Lead Investigator that attends the autopsy and the fact that his partner, Trooper Bukhenik, didn't attend either is also strange. The fact that a fallen officer, John O'Keefe, was not treated with respect is baffling. Jessica Hyde, the Digital Forensics Examiner, took the stand to take about the Cellebrite data of Jen McCabe and John O'Keefe's phone. She talked about the various tools she used to decipher the information and her opinion on the "Hos long to die in cold" Google Search began at 6:23:49am because that is when Apple Suggested Term gave her, "How long does it take to digest food." After that, is when other variations of search happens like "how long ti die in cikd" at 6:23:51am, 6:23:57am, 6:24:18am, & 6:24:47am. Hyde also explained that a browser tab cannot be deleted and that Jen McCabe didn't manually delete any calls from her log. The phone has a limitation that it only stores 200 calls records and from Jan 29 to February 1st, when her phone was imaged, she must have made over 200 calls because the older calls were being erased from the phone in order to store new incoming calls. This is believable because we've heard her make 5 calls in 10 mins when the FBI unexpectedly showed up at her house for questing. Another notable instance is that Jessica Hyde noted in her report that John's phone interaction is at 12:20am but Ian Whiffin's report showed that the phone was locked with a button at 12:32am. In Jessica Hyde's testimony indicated that John O'Keefe's phone did not appear to have been secured in a Faraday bag or placed in airplane mode, as evidenced by the fact that SMS messages and ring notifications were still being received on the phone. This raised concerns about whether the phone was properly handled and secured by law enforcement, as new information could potentially still be added to the device.Special Prosecutor Hank Brennan played a clip from ID Docuseries, April 30, 2024, where Karen Read says, "Jen McCabe- It's me or her. Either I'm going down, Jen, or you are!” The implications of these statements and how the jury might interpret them are considered. The Prosecution can infer that Karen is using Jen as a scapegoat and with more videos he will use at his disposal, make it to where she has no choice to take the stand to clarify her statements. The Prosecution is presenting a stronger case in this retrial compared to the previous trial. However, concerns are raised about upcoming testimonies, such as the accident reconstructionist and medical experts.RESOURCESDay 6 of the first Karen Read Trial -
