When the world feels dense—not just “I'm stressed,” but that heavy, invisible pressure that builds in your body—leadership gets real, fast. Especially if your work lives in urgency: domestic violence advocacy, shelters, case management, child and family services, special education, autism support, and nonprofit leadership. In this episode, I'm naming what so many big-hearted, mission-driven leaders are carrying…and offering a conscious leadership lens that helps you lay the burden down without abandoning your people. In this episode, you'll learn: How to tell the difference between responsibility and burden (and why confusing the two fuels burnout) Why the “savior reflex” is so common in crisis work—and how it quietly hijacks your boundaries A simple way to come back to clarity when urgency, guilt, and hypervigilance start running the show In crisis environments, regulation isn't about bliss—it's about signal. I'm inviting you to aim for feeling 10% better, not perfect. Timestamps01:39 — Beyond “just do box breathing”: the conscious leadership lens02:30 — The identity contract: “If I don't do it, who will?”03:24 — The distinction that changes everything: responsibility vs. burden04:53 — Why crisis work trains hypervigilance (and how it impacts boundaries)06:24 — The unique layer in autism support: sensory load, advocacy, decision fatigue08:09 — Regulate: not calm, clear09:47 — The burden question (and the second question that completes it)11:20 — One clean move: boundary, decision, delegation, or repair15:19 — Repairing after you said yes when you meant no16:41 — Resetting agreements as you grow18:08 — The hidden cost of carrying the burden: reactivity, resentment, messy decisions19:15 — Closing: the “Lay It Down” micro-ritual Key takeaways Responsibility is what's yours to respond to. Burden is what you've absorbed that was never yours to carry. Caring doesn't have to mean carrying. Conscious leadership is caring with clarity. Guilt isn't always a moral signal—sometimes it's a withdrawal symptom from overgiving. Boundaries aren't a wall against love. They're a container for love. Sustainable leadership isn't a luxury. It's ethics. A question to sit withWhat am I carrying right now that isn't mine? Many parents worry that talking about sex, boundaries, consent, or online exposure will open doors too early—but real-world clinical experience shows the opposite. In this episode, Logan McIlwain explains why ongoing, everyday conversations actually reduce risky behavior and help kids feel safer turning to their parents instead of the internet. Dana Kay brings a deeply personal perspective as a mom of a teen and a tween, naming the fear so many parents quietly carry: "Am I too early… or already too late?" Logan gently dismantles the pressure to get it perfect and replaces it with a more sustainable truth—presence matters more than perfection. You'll learn how to use everyday "micro-moments" to build trust, how to respond calmly to sensitive questions, and how to reset conversations even if you feel behind. This episode is especially meaningful for parents of neurodivergent kids, where impulsivity and online exposure can make these conversations feel even heavier. Shimon Sakaguchi shared the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his identification of regulatory T cells that suppress autoimmune responses. His work laid the foundation for RegCell, a company he co-founded to develop cell therapies that provide targeted treatments for autoimmune disease without compromising healthy immune function. RegCell epigenetically reprograms patient T cells into regulatory T cells. We spoke to Michael McCullar, CEO of RegCell, about the role of dysfunctional Tregs in autoimmune diseases, the firm's use of epigenetically modified regulatory T cells to treat these conditions, and how this approach can selectively suppress harmful immune responses without causing broad immunosuppression.

With a World Cup on home soil approaching, the most important question facing the United States men's national soccer team isn't hype — it's preparation. In this segment, we reset expectations for the U.S. men's national team after a strong finish to 2025 and examine how Mauricio Pochettino has guided real growth from the start of the year to the end. We also look at why potential club moves for Alex Freeman and Ricardo Pepi could have outsized impact this summer, and what matters most for players in the pool as they head toward pre-tournament camp. This is a conversation about consistency, clarity, and doing the work now so the results can follow later.

In week four of the Reset series, Pastor Curt Taylor invites us to reconsider what we're making room for in our lives. The message explores how growth doesn't always come from adding more, but often from removing what competes for our time, focus, and priorities. This sermon emphasizes the importance of spiritual rhythms that help us grow stronger and stay grounded. It highlights how faith is formed best in community rather than isolation. Ultimately, we're challenged to realign our values and make space for what truly matters in our walk with God.

Resetting in 2026 New year. Same marriage problems? Here's the thing: most people approach a new year with good intentions but no actual reset. They keep doing the same things, waiting for different results. And when it comes to saving your marriage, that's a recipe for staying stuck. In this week's podcast, I walk you through five critical resets you need to make in 2026. Not resolutions. Resets. There's a difference. If you play pickleball, you know what a reset is. When what you're doing isn't working, you reset the ball. You slow it down. You step back and start fresh. That's what we're doing here with your marriage. What Needs to Go (and What Needs to Come In) I break down five specific shifts, each with something that needs to be "out" and something that needs to be "in" for your process this year. The first reset deals with the most common trap I see: waiting for your spouse to join you before you start working on things. Spoiler alert—that's exactly backwards. One person always starts the process. That's normal. The question is whether you're going to be that person or keep waiting. The second reset tackles what I call "Idea ADD"—jumping from YouTube video to blog post to the next shiny object the algorithm throws at you. You're trusting an algorithm instead of following a clear, consistent approach. That has to stop. The third reset is about ditching the seat-of-your-pants approach. Flying by the seat of your pants IS a system. It's just a losing system. You need an actual written plan and systems in place to support it. The fourth reset changes how you think about hope. Most people treat hope like a feeling they're waiting to experience. Wrong. Hope is something you build using a specific formula. I'll walk you through the equation. The fifth reset shifts you from pushing and chasing your spouse (which only creates more distance) to something far more effective: inviting connection. Small shift. Massive difference. Why This Matters Right Now We're just into 2026. You've got a choice in front of you. You can approach your marriage the same way you did last year, or you can actually reset your approach. These aren't theoretical concepts. They're the backbone of how I've helped thousands of people turn their marriages around. They're built into my Save The Marriage System, my VIP program, and my Unpause app. They're the three C's in action: Connect with your spouse. Change yourself. Create a new path. Each of these five resets moves you toward one or more of those three areas. And each one is something you can control and execute on, regardless of where your spouse is right now. Listen to this episode if you're serious about making 2026 different. Not just hopeful it will be different. Actually different. Because hope isn't something you wait for. It's something you build. Listen to Episode 584: Resetting in 2026 now on the Save The Marriage Podcast. If your marriage is in crisis, learn more about the Save The Marriage System at savethemarriage.com. Crystal Williams led the career prosperity prayer call, grounding the discussion in John 10:10 to emphasize that the Lord offers an abundant life that includes professional success, encouraging attendees to adopt a "God-made mentality" and embrace career pivoting. Williams stressed the importance of believers using their authority in Jesus Christ to invite God's intervention in their careers, viewing any necessary "reset" as God putting them in the correct position for healing and success. To maintain this reset, Williams introduced the weekly "Forward Focus Career Fast" every Thursday and provided instructions for participants to receive materials by texting "bread" to 201-357-3218, concluding the call with a prayer for divine protection, fresh ideas, and favor.Need accountability and community in your professional career journey??Click the link https://careerchasersclub.com/join/ to learn more and join my global professional development community, Career Chasers!Join the #CareerDailyBread text message list by texting the word BREAD to (201) 357-3218 When you join you will receive uplifting messages that will elevate your work week!***Download the Peculiar Career Chit Chat playlist on Apple Music: https://apple.co/3DoUwHNP.S. This episode is about discovering your current set point — where your body and mind are living right now with food, movement, sleep, stress, and beliefs about weight — and how it drives cravings, emotions, and overall health.I dive into the difference between the number on the scale and the emotional and psychological weight we carry daily. Your habits and your body's responses aren't failures — they're signals. Your nervous system is trying to keep you safe.1. What Is Your Set Point? Your set point is your current rhythm with:FoodMovementSleepStress…and the beliefs you hold about weight, cravings, and your body's ability to change. It dictates emotional, psychological, and physical weight — the state your body feels safe in, even if it's not where you want to be. Key insight: your body defaults to the known, even if it feels “not enough” or creates unwanted habits.2. The Problem with Perfectionism & Overdrive: Focusing on perfection, overachieving, or constant productivity leads to:Higher stressSpiking cortisolStronger sugar cravingsIntense emotional eating cycles3. Understanding the Hormonal Loop: Critical hormones controlling cravings and weight:Cortisol — rises under stress, triggers sugar cravings, keeps your body in protection mode.Insulin — storage hormone, holds fat when cortisol is high.Leptin — satiety hormone, signals fullness.Ghrelin — hunger hormone, signals when to eat.Takeaway: if hormones are unbalanced, dieting or willpower alone won't work. Resetting hormones is key to changing your set point.4. Protection Mode vs. Safety Mode: Your body isn't lazy or “rebelling” — it's in protection mode. Weight gain, cravings, and mindless eating are protective responses to stress. Even destructive habits feel safe. Instead of shaming yourself, thank your body for keeping you safe and learn to transition to safety mode.5. How to Reset Your Set Point:Focus on hormone regulation, not just weight lossMove your body in ways that feel safe and enjoyableNourish without restrictionHonor rest and recoveryShift beliefs about cravings and your body's ability to changeThis helps cravings normalize, appetite regulation improve, and weight release naturally — without forcing, restricting, or shaming yourself.6. Personal Story & Lessons Learned During high-stress periods of grief, perfectionism, and overwork, I experienced:Cortisol-driven sugar bingesLeptin resistance and insatiable cravingsFeeling powerless despite “doing everything right”My breakthrough: willpower alone can't override biology. Learning about the nervous system and hormones helped me reset my set point and transform my relationship with food, movement, and my body.TakeawaysSet point = where your body feels safe, not failureWeight is emotional, psychological, energetic, and physicalCravings and stress responses are biologically drivenResetting hormones and focusing on safety mode creates sustainable changeJournal PromptsWhat is my current set point with food, movement, sleep, and stress? What beliefs do I hold about weight, cravings, and my body's ability to change? When do I feel most in protection mode? How can I shift from perfectionism to safety and self-regulation?Closing Message: You are in the right place if you feel stuck or disconnected from your body. Your cravings, weight, and energy challenges are messages, not failures. By regulating hormones and moving safely, you can shift your set point, calm your nervous system, and release weight effortlessly over time.GET THE HORMONE RESET EBOOK now: https://sherryshaban.com/hormoneresetListen to more episodes at www.makepeacewithfood.com/podcast or subscribe to me on Spotify, Podcast, and YouTube so you never miss an episode!Join my Facebook Community: www.myfoodfreedomlifestyle.com Work with me: www.sherryshaban.com/transform Go deeper: www.makepeacewithfood.com Share your biggest takeaway and tag me on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn
Our daily habits are surrounded by screens and technology that shape our lives in ways we rarely stop to notice. Using one of Jesus' parables, Pastor Mike raises a deeper question beneath the scrolls, streams, and notifications: What are you making space for—and what might you be missing? This message offers time to pause, reflect, and consider what's quietly shaping the direction of your life—and to step back and realign your habits with what truly matters.

Hey everybody, welcome back to The Smiling Homeschooler! We are kicking off our very first new show of the year. This is that time of year when everything just feels fresh again. Your brain gets a little reset, the stress of the holidays is gone, and it's a great chance to rethink the things that didn't work so well last semester. Maybe it's time to change a routine, toss some of the stuff that doesn't bring joy, or simplify a little. Co-ops are starting back up, routines are getting back in place, and before you know it, spring and summer will be here—whether you're ready or not! We will also be answering a listener's question and reading some of our listeners' highlights of 2025 and what they are looking forward to in 2026! It should be a fun and encouraging episode. Before we get started, we want to thank Teaching Textbooks for making The Smiling Homeschooler possible. They're an amazing math curriculum, and we encourage you to check them out at teachingtextbooks.com. We'd also like to thank Samaritan Ministries—a community of Christians who help one another with medical bills. They make it possible for families to take steps of faith, whether that's a career change, a ministry opportunity, or bringing mom home. You can learn more and support us through the link https://hubs.ly/Q03VZL4d0 Have a great week and don't forget to smile!
We kick off our first episode of 2026 with a real reset—no gimmicks, no “new year, new me” talk. Just honest reflection and clear intention. We talk podcast goals for the year ahead—consistency, growth, new segments, guests, visuals—and what it actually takes to level up without burning out. On a personal level, we share realistic intentions for 2026, the habits and mindsets we're leaving behind in 2025, and the energy we're committed to carrying forward. The conversation shifts to the decline of DJ culture. Are DJs falling off—or has the environment changed? We break down repetitive sets, weak transitions, and the pressure to cater to TikTok moments instead of the actual room. Is this a skill issue, a crowd-demand issue, or both? And we debate the ultimate question: who's the best artist to play in the club or lounge right now? From there, we ask a bigger question about music in the digital age: Did streaming ruin rappers' aura? We compare the old era of mystique and anticipation to today's nonstop drops, oversharing, and algorithm-driven releases. Does constant access make artists feel less special—and who, if anyone, has managed to keep their mystique intact? Later in the episode, we get personal with artists we like but never fully tapped into—the ones we respect off singles, features, interviews, or image, but have never sat down and listened to front-to-back. Is liking the idea of an artist enough, or does real fandom require deeper investment? Fashion takes center stage as we talk about the resurgence of men's fashion—oversized fits, Avirex and Vanson jackets, throwback leather, and early-2000s energy. Is this nostalgia done right or just recycled fits? Are men actually dressing better—or just louder? And yes, we ask the important question: who still wears Polo? On the women's side, we discuss what trends are coming back, which ones should've stayed in the past, and what we'd actually like to see return. We also unpack how social media and fast fashion are speeding trend cycles up faster than ever—and what that means for originality. We then move into current events, starting with a serious story out of Minnesota: the Somali child care provider fraud case. We give a high-level breakdown of what happened, mix in some side commentary about how the funding slipped through the cracks, and talk about who was asleep at the wheel. Most importantly, we discuss how stories like this can fuel misinformation and harmful stereotypes if not handled responsibly. From there, we zoom out to politics and global headlines, touching on Donald Trump, Venezuela, and the constant noise around foreign policy. We break down what's actually happening versus what's being said, why Venezuela keeps popping up in rhetoric, and whether this is real policy discussion or election-era posturing designed for soundbites. We close with sports, starting with the NFL playoffs—top seeds, teams we trust versus teams we don't believe in, early Super Bowl predictions, and who's peaking at the right time. Finally, we check in on the NBA midseason, separating contenders from pretenders, highlighting teams exceeding expectations, and discussing which stars are under the most pressure as playoff positioning tightens and post–All-Star buzz builds. This episode sets the tone for the year: reflective but forward-looking, critical but fair, and grounded in culture, conversation, and context. A real welcome to 2026.

As we step into a new year, many of us focus on resolutions, but what if a more powerful question is: How do I actually want to feel? In this episode, Colette explores Ayurvedic cleansing not as a quick detox or rigid reset, but as a gentle ritual, a way to digest the past, build resilience, and step into the year ahead with clarity, steadiness, and intention. Rather than pushing or restricting, this conversation invites you to slow down, listen inward, and reconnect with digestion as the foundation of physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. If you're craving a nourishing fresh start that supports your nervous system and long-term health, this episode is for you. In this episode, we explore: Why the threshold between one year and the next is considered a potent time for healing The lost art of ritual and why modern life often skips over important transitions How unprocessed experiences and emotions can create subtle ama (toxicity) in the body and mind Digestion as more than food, including how we digest experiences, emotions, and stress Why Ayurveda prioritizes preventative health and resilience, especially in an unpredictable world How gentle cleansing supports adaptability, immunity, and nervous system regulation Cleansing as an act of self-respect, not willpower or deprivation The role of community (sangha) and why group cleansing can be deeply supportive Links & Resources Discounted Group Digestive Reset Cleanse begins January 23rd, 2026. Happy New Year, everyone! We can't believe 2026 is almost here! It's a new year with new goals. In this episode, I'm talking all about implementing classroom routines as we head into the second semester. This time of year can feel exciting and overwhelming all at once, especially when we realize we're already halfway through the school year with our students. I share why routines matter so much—particularly in upper elementary—and how they create predictability, calm, and valuable “white space” that allows students to focus their energy on learning instead of figuring out what to do.I walk through a clear, five-step process for teaching routines in a way that actually sticks. We start by getting clear on the routine and its purpose, then explicitly teaching it, modeling it (both the right and wrong way), practicing with feedback, and finally reinforcing and resetting as needed. I explain why slowing down during the implementation phase is so important, even when it feels tedious, and how that upfront investment pays off later with smoother days and a more focused literacy block.I also share encouragement for those moments when routines inevitably break down. Resetting a routine doesn't mean you failed—it means your students need a reminder, more practice, or clearer expectations. With consistency, clarity, and intentional practice, routines will eventually become second nature, helping your classroom run more smoothly and giving you more energy for the parts of teaching you love most. As you head back into your classroom, remember that strong routines aren't built in a day—but they are worth the time it takes to build them well.Join us in the Stellar Literacy Collective Membership: stellarteacher.com/join!Sign up for my FREE private podcast, the Confident Writer Systems Series, here!Sign up for my FREE Revision Made Easy email series here!Follow me on Instagram @thestellarteachercompany.To check out all of the resources from this episode, head to the show notes: https://www.stellarteacher.com/episode285.Mentioned in this episode:Join us for the Routine Reset.Learn more about the Stellar Teacher Routine Reset PD Pack and resource deals: stellarteacher.com/reset
