Have you ever felt abandoned? Maybe a spouse left you, a friend betrayed you, or a parent wasn't there when you needed them most. Pastor J.D. reminds us of the incredible truth that Jesus knows exactly how that feels. It's part of our series called The Difficult Sayings of Jesus.
He cried WHY? in the darkness, was mocked in his suffering, and gave himself - for me.
Have you ever felt overlooked, forgotten, or defined by your past?In Isaiah 62, God speaks a powerful promise over His people: the names Forsaken and Desolate will be replaced with Delight and Beloved. What was once broken will shine again. God declares that He will not stay silent until His people are restored and their righteousness shines like the dawn.Today we're exploring a chapter about restoration, identity, and the God who refuses to give up on His people. Because when God speaks a new name over your life, everything changes. As always be blessed and enjoy. Please follow, like, and share our podcast with a friend or family member!
He Was Forsaken and We Were Remembered MESSAGE SUMMARY: In today's message, we're reminded of the profound truth that Jesus is the answer to the deepest struggles of humanity. We're called to open our eyes to the suffering around us - broken relationships, addictions, financial burdens, and physical ailments. This reflection challenges us to see beyond our own circumstances and recognize the pain in others. The central theme echoes Christ's compassion and His desire for a relationship with each of us. As His body, the church, we're entrusted with the responsibility to extend His love to those in need. This message invites us to consider: How can we be the hands and feet of Jesus in a world crying out for hope and healing? TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, I now take a deep breath and stop. So often I miss your hand and gifts in my life because I am preoccupied and anxious. Grant me the power to pause each day and each week to simply rest in your arms of love. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 132). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, I will rejoice in Him (Philippians 4:4). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. (Philippians 4:14). Final Words of Christ: I Feel Forsaken with Pastor Jason Eddy www.betheljanesville.org
If you continue to reject God you can expect his punishment.
In the midst of overwhelming opposition, betrayal, and personal crisis, David's psalm reveals a transformative spiritual discipline: recognizing one's struggles before God, redirecting focus to God's character as shield, lifter of the head, and hearer of prayers, and resting in His sustaining grace. The sermon emphasizes that true peace does not come from the absence of problems but from the presence of God, who neither slumbers nor sleeps, and who ultimately vindicates His people through Christ's sacrificial death and resurrection. By adjusting the lens of our lives to center on God's faithfulness rather than our circumstances, believers are called to trust in His salvation, rely on His power, and proclaim that 'salvation belongs to the Lord'—not through human effort, but through the finished work of Jesus Christ, who was forsaken so that we might never be.
TEXT: Psalm 37:25-26 Because the Righteous One was forsaken on our behalf, we can always count on God's presence in our life 1. That changes our conduct 2. That changes our legacy
Joseph's journey takes him even deeper into adversity as he sits in prison for a crime he didn't commit. Betrayed by his brothers, falsely accused, and now seemingly forgotten, he has every reason to grow bitter and give up. Yet even in the darkest place of his life, Scripture quietly reminds us that the Lord was with him. While doors seem closed and promises go unfulfilled, God is still working behind the scenes, shaping character and preparing purpose. Joseph's prison season teaches us that waiting is not wasted and that feeling forgotten does not mean being forsaken.Pursuing God with Gene Appel is a weekday podcast designed to help you pursue God, build community, and unleash compassion. Join me for a humble look at a psalm that was very important to Jesus. He quoted it. He quoted it at His most difficult moment, twice. It starts with a feeling (forsakenness) and ends with a fact (it is finished). In between, we'll see whether the Father leans in or out. If the Forsaken are more than villains—if they embody human vice—what sins define them? In Part 2 of our Seven Deadly Sins series, the Black Tower Podcast assigns Greed, Lust, Gluttony, and Sloth to the Forsaken using book canon evidence, core motivations, and the choices that lead to their downfall. We break down Graendal, Rahvin, Aginor, and Bel'al, explore Forsaken who don't fit cleanly, and debate where figures like Ishamael and Lanfear truly belong.

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ represents the most pivotal moment in human history, culminating in His mysterious cry: My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? This wasn't merely a feeling of abandonment but a real separation that occurred as Jesus became our substitute, taking upon Himself our burden, guilt, and sin. Though Jesus and the Father had enjoyed perfect unity from eternity, the Father had to separate Himself from His beloved Son because He cannot look upon sin. Jesus experienced the ultimate abandonment that we deserved so that we would never have to face it ourselves. The answer to His cry came on Sunday morning when an angel declared, "Thy Father calls thee", and Jesus rose to everlasting life, having drunk the bitter cup to its dregs.
