Deacon Henson-Elder Paris-Kreuger Family-Elder Fredman-Deacon Paris-Elder Smithhart-Pastor Chris-Michael and Ramona Fredman-Accompanist Emily Denning--Luke 2-8-And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.-9-And an angel of the Lord-appeared to them, and-the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear.-10-And the angel said to them, -Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all-the people.-11-For-unto you is born this day in-the city of David-a Savior, who is-Christ-the Lord.-12-And-this will be a sign for you- you will find a baby-wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.--13-And suddenly there was with the angel-a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,--14--Glory to God-in the highest,-and on earth-peace-among those with whom he is pleased----Isaiah 9-6-7 For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given- and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over His kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.--Philippians 2-5-10---Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

The teaching here was presented at the funeral service of Mrs. Lettye Platt at 95 years of Christian service. In our theological tradition a service at the end of a person's life is a real church service and secular replacements for Christian worship would not be considered appropriate. So listen in and see what the Lord has done and will do in the Christian life. This dear saint has gone on to her reward and yet none of us will be very far behind her...

5 Let your manner of living be without covetousness, and be content with such things as ye have. For He hath said, -I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee-----Covetousness- is a problem of the heart and mind. It's one of the sins that has to do with how you see God, yourself and other people. Jealousy, vanity, self concern are out of place making the Christian easy pickings for the world, the devil and the flesh.--6 so that we may boldly say, -The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.---7 Remember those who have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the Word of God. Follow their faith, considering the outcome of their manner of living.--8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.
