HOUR 1 1st - We set a weather record today 81; 2nd - Zoran Mandani has problems in New York 3rd - We don't know who Trump is going to endorse in the TX senate race 4th - 00:00 And welcome to the program on your yay Friday afternoon and what a Friday afternoon it is ladies and gentlemen, we set a record high today. The old record was 79 some places throughout the Greenville area recorded 81 degrees. So it's 82 right now, so there you go. 00:24 82 degrees, that is a record. Oh, it's the global warming. Charlie, no, it's not hush. It's just not. got we got some more cool weather coming in the next few days. So don't you worry too much about that. OK, we have got a beaucoup things to talk about today. We really do. I want to start off with with this because something happened. 00:52 back on February the 5th. 00:57 Something kind of strange happened in our state house where we have a quote unquote Republican majority. You see, there was a bill filed on February the 5th by a Democrat state Senator Margie Bright Matthews. Now, that's not weird. Bills are filed in Columbia all the time. 01:26 Every single year, thousands of them. vast majority of these bills go quietly into a committee where they remain until they die. But not this bill. Not this one. S897 and this is what the folks over at Palmetto State Watch S897 proposes to remove the religious exemptions for the measles, mumps and rubella, the MMR vaccine for children attending public institution and daycares. 01:55 as well as for young adults attending a university. This means any person enrolled in a public education and any child attending daycare or planning to attend college must get two doses of the MMR vaccine unless they have a medical exemption, which is extremely difficult to obtain. So somehow, S897 02:24 managed to get on the schedule for a subcommittee hearing. 02:30 two days ago on Wednesday at 930 A.M. in the Gresset building in Columbia. This bill has no co-sponsors whatsoever and is sponsored by a Democrat. 02:46 in a Republican majority state. 02:50 Now, how does this even happen? 02:55 How does this, I mean, how does it even happen? 02:59 When we were supposed to be Ruby Red South, folks, let me tell you, every single day, our state legislature gives you another reason to get out and vote on June 9th in a big, huge way. We all remember COVID. We all remember the mandates. We all remember that you had to have the experimental jab. We all remember that. They act like we haven't forgotten. But because we had an outbreak, 03:29 of the measles in Spartanburg, now all of a sudden, we're gonna do away with the religious exemptions for the jab. Over the last few months, the folks at Palmetto State Watch heard that South Carolina is now the leader in the nations for the measles outbreak in the Spartanburg area since October of 2025. The numbers, they said, is now approaching 1,000 cases, and that's cumulative since October. 03:59 This is oddly reminiscent of another situation our country went through a few years back. Anybody remember COVID? Of course you do. What we're not hearing is how many people have recovered, what long-term complications they've had, how many have died, how many current cases are there. It's just an ever-increasing number that is intended to strike fear in everybody's soul. 04:24 I want you to listen to this. This is, I'm not sure who this is, this Dawn Richardson, Director of Advocacy for NVIC. So in South Carolina, there was a bill just dropped that would remove the religious exemption for just the MMR vaccine for kids in child care, kids in school, and then also it would mandate the MMR vaccine without exemptions for people in college. Now, 04:51 This was filed because in Spartanburg County there's been an outbreak. About 95 % of the cases have occurred in this one county. But what's interesting in that county, they did a huge vaccination push. They vaccinated over 1200 kids aged six months to 11 m ...
Hey dear Dash Hounds, we are back this week in a regular kind of way talking about a woman you probably have never heard of—unless you are a folk art phenom like Beth. Learn about a woman and artist whose life may have gone unnoticed except for her self-taught crayon portraits. They go for about $3K on Antiques Roadshow, which is so close to our going rate for Patreon. Inez Nathaniel-Walker's life was not easy, but somewhere, someone with an easier life is looking at her work and likely wondering who was she? Well you have come to the right place. GB2RS News Sunday, the 15th of February 2026 The news headlines: Support the RSGB Contest Committees Learn your freedoms and restrictions in relation to repeaters, gateways and packet radio in March's Tonight@8 Check your club's details are up to date on Club Finder The RSGB Contest Support Committee, HF Contest Committee and VHF Contest Committee are looking for volunteers who can help organise, support and manage the Society's contesting activities. While applications from experienced contestants are welcome, the committees would also be pleased to hear from radio amateurs who are new to contesting. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact RSGB General Manager, Steve Thomas, M1ACB, in the first instance, via gm.dept@rsgb.org.uk In February 2024, Ofcom made significant changes to the amateur radio licensing conditions, but how has that affected your freedoms and restrictions in relation to repeaters, gateways and packet radio? In the next episode of Tonight@8, two members of the RSGB Emerging Technology Coordination Committee will answer this question for you. Join Steve Morton, F4VTF and John McCullagh, GI4BWM, live on Monday, the 2nd of March, via the RSGB's YouTube Channel or via its special BATC channel. If you have a question on this topic, ensure you watch the webinar live and submit your question via the live chat feature. Find out more by going to rsgb.org/webinars If you are a member of an RSGB-affiliated club or society, the RSGB is encouraging you to check that your organisation's details are up to date on Club Finder. The RSGB Club Finder allows people to search for local amateur radio groups. Those people could want to join your club, find out more about amateur radio before taking their Foundation licence exam, or perhaps need support for British Science Week activities. Updating your listing is easy. Just log in to your club's Membership Services account and go to the ‘UK Club Finder' section. The form includes a section called ‘Meeting details' where you can add helpful information about disabled access, as well as details about both physical and online meetings. The Society will update Club Finder with any new data between 4 pm and 6 pm every Friday. If you wish your latest information to appear before the weekend, please ensure you update your details before 3 pm on Fridays. If you have any questions about the process, please contact membership@rsgb.org.uk Among the many informative and engaging displays at the RSGB National Radio Centre, you'll find information highlighting the contribution to the war effort made by Voluntary Interceptors who were RSGB Members during World War Two. It is this topic that Josephine Saunders explores in her compelling article “Listening for victory” published in “BRITAIN” magazine. The four-page feature looks at the role that radio amateurs played in the War, and how RSGB volunteers now help to bring this history to life at the RSGB National Radio Centre. She also looks at some of the wide-ranging activities on offer at the NRC, such as the ‘Find the spy transmitter' event held last year. Subscribers to the magazine can read the feature on page 63. It can also be read by going to tinyurl.com/NationalRadioCentre Participation from radio amateurs in this year's British Science Week is already looking to exceed last year's. Several clubs and groups are looking to set up skeds, ranging from South Derbyshire and Ashby Woulds Amateur Radio Group to Crowthorne and Wokingham Without NMI Men's Shed. A sked is a prearranged radio contact with another radio operator at a scheduled time and on a particular frequency. Find out more about these opportunities by going to rsgb.org/bsw and selecting ‘Events happening near you' from the right-hand menu. For those unable to attend the Memorial Service for Dr Julian Gannaway, G3YGF, tomorrow, Monday the 16th of February, the service can be viewed online at watch.obitus.com. The login details are available via the RSGB's Silent Key web page. And finally, a date for your diary. Using CW on the 160 to 10m bands, where contests are permitted, the exchange is signal report and serial number. American stations also send their state, and Canadian stations send their province. The REF Contest starts at 0600 UTC on Saturday, the 21st of February and runs until 1800 UTC on Sunday, the 22nd of February. Using SSB on the 80 to 10m bands, where contests are permitted, the exchange is signal report and serial number. On Sunday, the 22nd of February, the UK Microwave Group EHF Band Contest runs from 0800 to 1700 UTC. Using all modes on 76 to 241GHz frequencies, the exchange is signal report, serial number and locator. Now the radio propagation report, compiled by G0KYA, G3YLA and G4BAO on Thursday, the 12th of February. It has been a good time for HF DX. Settled geomagnetic conditions and a fairly high solar flux index has meant the ionosphere has had time to shine. With the Kp index not exceeding 4.33, and generally being in the ones and twos, coupled with a solar flux index in the 160s, this has meant that the upper HF bands have been humming. This is despite many relatively minor C- and M-class solar flares. DX heard or worked this week includes stations in Vietnam, India, Australia and New Zealand on the 10m band, even with modestly equipped stations. DX being chased includes the KP5/NP3VI Desecheo Island DXpedition near Puerto Rico. This has been difficult, often because they are running low power on their remotely controlled rigs. But UK stations have got through on all bands from 40 to 10m. Due to deteriorating sea conditions, they have delayed equipment recovery until the 3rd of March, so you still have time to work them. The next big DXpedition to look forward to is 3Y0K from Bouvet Island. Due to technical problems with their ship, the operation has now been delayed and will start around the 26th of February. With the path to Bouvet being almost due south from the UK, propagation predictions suggest that the path should be open from around 0730UTC until 1830UTC, up to 10m, with 21MHz being open from around 0800 to 1000UTC and again from 1600 to 1800UTC. Outside of these times, look for a path on the 20, or even 30 or 40m bands, in the evening and night. FT8 will be the most favourable mode, but CW and SSB are possible. However, remember they will be using split frequency operation. Next week, NOAA predicts that the solar flux index will increase to be in the 160 to 180 range. Geomagnetic conditions may start the week settled, with a predicted Kp index of 2, but we may expect more unsettled conditions as the week progresses, with a predicted Kp index of 4 from the 16th to the 21st of February. So, get your HF Dxing in early next week! And now the VHF and up propagation news from G3YLA and G4BAO The weather is often described as blocked when we see long-lasting high pressure, which hangs around for weeks at a time and is a gift for tropo on VHF. However, right next door to a blocked high you will probably find a low-pressure region, which is also blocked for the same reason. Currently, we are in the middle of a prolonged period of blocked low pressure, hence the rain and absence of tropo. The position of the low varies a bit, of course, so sometimes we will have milder southerly winds with rain and at other times colder northerlies with snow. We have the full variety in the coming week or so, and that means no tropo for VHF operators, but plenty of rain scatter for the GHz folk. The meteor scatter position hasn't changed since last week's news, so we are once again confined to random activity and, for this, early morning hours are usually best. Aurora alerts continue to trickle through, and as we approach the spring equinox, the chances of auroras improve, but there is a little way to go yet. Lastly, thoughts of Sporadic-E remain dormant since we are some way short of the typical early season openings of late April and May. As usual, consider checking the propquest.co.uk graphs occasionally, which have shown minor peaks of the foEs, or critical frequency of the Es layer, in the early evening on some days. The Moon reached perigee, its closest point to the Earth, on Tuesday, the 10th of February. The Moon is moving toward apogee on Sunday, the 22nd of February, meaning path loss will gradually increase throughout the week as the Moon's distance grows. Cosmic background noise is relatively low during this period, which helps maintain a better signal-to-noise ratio. And that's all from the propagation team this week.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geI5r-tvCK8&t=1s Keith Bennett, an old friend and comrade of Harpal's, and leader of the "Friends of Socialist China" campaign, gives a moving message of condolence. This video was shot in January 2025 at Harpal Brar's memorial service in Bolivar Hall, London. It was a moving tribute and celebration of his life, held with his friends and family, representatives of Socialist nations and fraternal political organisations. Many comrades spoke in moving and generous terms, giving solidarity with his family and party, and paying tribute to his political contribution. We will share the messages of all the comrades who spoke at the service. Harpal Brar was the inspirer and founding Chairman on the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist). He was a lecturer in Law, a barrister, a historian, a marxist scholar, theorist, thinker and teacher. Harpal was one of the foremost leaders of the British working class, and the Indian working class in Britain. He was a great leader of the world communist movement, holding aloft the torch of reason, of proletarian class consciousness and struggle in the dark days after the collapse of the USSR - when the imperialist bourgeoisie were riding high and proclaiming their rotten and parasitic system to be "the end of history". You can read his full obituary here: https://www.lalkar.org/article/4613/h... And find his books here: https://shop.thecommunists.org/produc... He was the editor of the paper of the Indian Workers' Association, and the anti-imperialist workers' journal LALKAR, which can be found here: https://www.lalkar.org Harpal played a role in many of the great liberation struggles of his time, from Zimbabwe and South Africa, Vietnam and Korea, Palestine and the Middle East to the great anti-imperialist cause of Irish reunification and national liberation. And of course he struggled tirelessly to solve the central question of the liberation of the working class from capitalist exploitation and imperialism. Harpal wrote extensively on the question of proletarian revolution and womens liberation. Harpal's criticism of the Labour Party as an imperialist party of Social Democracy is essential reading for all British workers. He wrote on Indian, Zimbabwean, Korean and Vietnamese national liberation, on bourgeois nationalism, black separatism and identity politics. He wrote of course extensively on the great revolutionary movements of the Soviet people and of China, and he wrote on the historical roots of Zionism and imperialism in the Middle East with specific reference to the cause of the Palestinian people for national liberation and self determination. Harpal was undoubtedly a great disciple of Marx and Lenin, and recognised that the Great Socialist October Revolution in Russia as a watershed of cultural enlightenment and freedom for Humanity. Harpal's critique of Trotskyism, his defence of the revolutionary teaching and leadership of Joseph Stalin, and his critique of Khrushchevism and revisionism that caused the downfall of Soviet Socialism is among the lasting theoretical contributions he bequeathed to the communist movement. We are grateful and moved by all of the tributes from his friends and comrades - that flowed to us even before we could speak to any but our closest comrades and family. To all of Harpal's comrades and loved ones: we are sorry for your loss too. We are united in our grief. And our determination to carry on his work. Which is all of our work. The Party was Harpal's wider family in every sense. And remains ours. If Harpal could say one thing to us it would be: “guard the party as you guard the apple of your eye.” He struggled to found and build it in the most difficult conjunction of circumstances, after the fall of the once mighty USSR. It is a great gift - the best of British - that he leaves us. A lutta continua!

If Harpal could say one thing to us it would be: “guard the party as you guard the apple of your eye.” He struggled to found and build it in the most difficult conjunction of circumstances, after the fall of the once mighty USSR. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8v8iG0btgs&list=PL3fsZgrmuTzdtIOJrggRJGDMo6RQt-RkU&index=6 Ranjeet speaks about the life of his father and mentor, founder of the CPGB-ML, Harpal Brar. We will share the tributes of all the comrades who spoke at the service. In this episode of The Kirk Effect, Representative David Eastman of the Alaska state legislature and I discuss his experience of attending the memorial service for Charlie Kirk. The memorial service lasted for over five hours, was attended by hundreds of thousands, and raised a lot of questions about the interaction of American Christianity with politics. As a Christian who serves in an elected office, Rep. Eastman has some great insight on how to live and work at that intersection of faith and politics, and provides some helpful ways of thinking about how these two core elements of American life interact.Subscribe to Tim Talks Politics on Substack for the full show notes (30% off for podcast listeners)!

Send us a textWe weren't planning to spend a third straight week discussing Charlie Kirk and the issues surrounding his assassination, but after watching his memorial service this past Sunday, it became clear that there is more to consider. The memorial service was something I've never seen. From the scale of the event (nearly 200,000 in attendance at two adjoining stadiums and an estimated viewing audience of 100M) to the notable attendees (President Trump and most of his cabinet) to above all, the proclamation of the gospel over and over again by many of the speakers. The service was truly remarkable and worthy of our rejoicing.TPUSA, the organization Charlie Kirk founded and led, has the video of the entire service on their YouTube page and I recommend you watch it. The first three-and-half-hours was a music concert as attendees filed in. The final four-and-a-half hours featured speaker after speaker. The climactic message was not the final one given by President Trump but rather the penultimate by Charlie Kirk's widow, Erika. Considering the unimaginable grief of having her husband shot and killed in public 11 days earlier, considering the worldwide magnitude of the event, the content of her message and the manner in which she delivered it was one of the most impactful speeches I have ever seen. We'll play some of her message in the final segment today. Before we get to that, we'll discuss the remarkable nature of this event and how God has truly worked something good and great through the assassination of Charlie Kirk. We'll also discuss how transformative movements like this need secure boundaries lest they compromise the Word and misrepresent God.
On today's episode of Pillow Talk Alii gives her thoughts on the Charlie Kirk memorial service and the strength and grace of his widow Erika.

Segment 1: • John MacArthur's memorial included surprising voices like Alistair Begg—raising questions about unity and division. • Ecumenism: should secondary disagreements divide us, or is cancel-culture thinking creeping into the church? • Challenge: Have we cut off brothers and sisters unnecessarily? Segment 2: • John Piper unexpectedly delivered a 16-minute eulogy at MacArthur's memorial. • Longstanding disagreements didn't prevent friendship, fellowship, and mutual respect. • Are we too quick to divide where MacArthur himself did not? Segment 3: • Piper praised MacArthur as “an extraordinary preacher,” showing a deep bond of friendship. • Encouragement: disagreements don't have to equal disdain. • Can Christians model unity around the essentials while holding firm convictions on secondary issues? Segment 4: • Piper's presence shocked many—but highlighted love and brotherhood over acrimony. • Theological debates are a means, not the end—Christ is the center. • The church must choose: division over secondary issues, or unity in Christ? ___ Thanks for listening!
