In this message from Matthew 15:29–16:4, Pastor Karl examines two very different groups of people who come to Jesus — and what their approach reveals about how we receive grace. The first group comes from the Decapolis, a Gentile region with no religious standing or covenant claim. They bring broken bodies, unspoken needs, and nothing to offer — and Jesus meets them with compassion, healing, and even provision they didn't know to ask for. The second group, the Pharisees and Sadducees, arrives with suspicion and a demand for proof — and Jesus refuses to perform for them. The contrast surfaces a powerful truth: Jesus has endless compassion for those who come to him needy, but no obligation to satisfy those who come feeling entitled. Unworthiness isn't a disqualification for grace — it's the prerequisite for it.Pastor Karl unpacks why the disciples hesitated to feed the 4,000 (it wasn't that they forgot what Jesus could do — it was that they questioned who he'd do it for), what it really means to "fall from grace," and why the cross is the only reliable lens through which to interpret God's love. When we bring our "not enough" to Jesus, we find that inadequacy is exactly the raw material he's looking for.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 8:00am, 9:30am & 11:00am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

What do you do when the storms of life hit? Our instinct is to hunker down, strain at the oars, and just try to survive. But what if the storm isn't just an obstacle — what if it's an invitation?Guest speaker Jeff Stemple walks us through one of the most familiar stories in Scripture: Jesus walking on water. And while the story is familiar, the truth buried inside it is anything but comfortable. By looking at the accounts in Mark, John, and Matthew side by side, Jeff unpacks why Matthew is the only gospel writer who includes Peter's attempt to step out of the boat — and why that "screw up" might be the most encouraging part of the whole story. The storms of life are invitations to step out in faith.Fear says stay put. Faith says step out. And what Jesus says to Peter in the middle of that storm, he says to all of us — come. The very place we least want to go may be the exact place Jesus is already standing, waiting for us to trust him.Whether your storm started last week or last year, this episode is for you.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 8:00am, 9:30am & 11:00am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm
Title: A New Way to WalkScripture Reading: Matthew 14:22-33Series: Be Bold! What does it look like to step out of the boat and walk with boldness when the storms of life begin to rise? In this message, we examine Peter's encounter with Jesus on the Sea of Galilee to discover a 'W.A.L.K.' acronym for being bold. We begin by recognizing that Jesus's bold WALK enables our bold walk. To follow Him, we must ABANDON fear for faith. We find stability only when we LOCK eyes with Jesus, refusing to let the wind and waves of our circumstances distract us from His presence. Finally, true boldness leads us to KNEEL in worship, acknowledging Jesus's sovereignty over all creation and His unique power to save us when we cry out. Commit to locking your eyes on Jesus today and call out to Him for help, trusting that He is already walking through the storm with you.
When our plans and dreams are blown away, it's easy to lose direction. Dr. Tony Evans explains how God remains in control and how life's storms can actually benefit us when we respond to Him.

In this message, we look at five key anchors of faith that Jesus promises will hold us in the midst of life's fiercest storms. Scripture: Matthew 14:22-36
The Gospel of John was written for people who wanted more than slogans or secondhand faith. John carefully records seven signs from the life of Jesus, not as proofs to be forced, but as testimony to be considered. These moments raise questions, spark debate, and often leave people divided—not because the signs are unclear, but because they demand interpretation. John is honest about his purpose: "But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." Belief in John's Gospel is not blind certainty, but a response to what has been witnessed and recorded. This series invites space for curiosity, skepticism, and honest questions as we examine the signs together. As the evidence unfolds, each of us is left with the same quiet but unavoidable question: Who do you say that Jesus is?
So That You May Believe Sermon SeriesJesus did hundreds and hundreds of miracles during His ministry. In his gospel, John says that if he were to write about all of them the whole world could not contain all the writings. John didn't write about every amazing thing Jesus did, but he chose seven miracles to focus on in his gospel that serve as signs of Jesus identity. As we study these seven accounts we can't help but be amazed at the authority, power and compassion of the Son of God, and we celebrate the ways we see His work in our lives. In this message from Matthew 14:22-33, we explore what Jesus actually means when he calls his disciples people of "little faith" — and why little faith is not the absence of faith, but a shift in attention away from Christ toward our circumstances. Through the story of Peter walking on water, we see how fear, doubt, and sinking moments don't disqualify us from Jesus's rescue — they invite it. When Peter cries out "Lord, save me," Jesus doesn't hesitate. This message is for anyone who feels like their faith isn't enough — because the good news is that Jesus meets us in the middle of the waves anyway. For upcoming events and important announcements at Skyline, visit our Facebook page or the Church Center App for the latest details! If you'd like to check out more resources, get to know Skyline Church, or donate to our ministry and missions please visit www.skylineofallon.com. Don't Be Afraid, I Am: Walking on Water & the Bread of Life – John 6:16–71 In this episode of Divine Table Talk, Jamie and Jane journey through John 6:16–71, where Jesus reveals both His power over the storm and His identity as the Bread of Life. From walking on water to declaring “I am the bread of life,” this passage invites us to trust Him not just for provision—but for everything. As the crowd wrestles with His words and many turn away, Jamie and Jane unpack the tension between following Jesus for what He gives versus trusting Him for who He is. This conversation challenges listeners to move beyond surface-level faith and choose belief—even when it's hard to understand. Because in the end, the question remains: Will we walk away—or will we stay? Am I following Jesus for what He can do—or for who He is? ____________________________________ Connect with Jamie: Website: www.jamieklusacek.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jamieklusacek Connect with Jane: Website: www.janewwilliams.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/janewwilliams
Matthew 14:22-36 gives us the account of Jesus walking on the stormy waters of the Sea of Galilee. While Matthew, Mark, and John all include an account of this event, only Matthew includes the detail of Peter asking Jesus to call him out to walk on the water as well. Peter climbed out of the boat, a huge act of courage, and walked toward Jesus, but got scared when he saw the storm and the waves. This is a fun story that has a lot to say to us about the nature of faith and doubt, the fear we face in suffering, and the hope we have in Jesus. I'm excited to jump into it together. ------------------------------------------- Connect with us on Social Media Website | Instagram | Threads | Facebook | Vimeo------------------------------------------- Download our AppApple App Store | Google Play Store
Jesus was always teaching his disciples how to live by faith through instruction and application. In Matthew 14:22-33, we read about another event that took place with Jesus and his disciples “on the water”. Here we see Jesus walking on water, then inviting Peter to walk with him! It's another amazing experience Jesus gives the disciples to teach them practical and impactful lessons on how to live life by faith, trust, and obedience. The story is recorded for us to learn these same lessons and apply them today. Join us at cefc.church.

The Gospel of John doesn't call Jesus' miracles “miracles” at all, but "signs" - and each one points beyond the moment to reveal who Jesus truly is and what it means to believe in Him. In this series, Signs and Wonders, we'll journey through the Gospel of John and explore the miraculous ministry of Jesus, not as spectacles to admire, but as invitations to trust, follow, and transformation.
Welcome to another episode of The Cutting Room Floor, where we further unpack Sunday's message, discuss practical applications, and hear some of what didn't make the final cut.

In this moment from John 6, Jesus walks across chaotic waters to meet His disciples in the middle of their fear. More than a display of power, this sign reveals His identity and authority over chaos, reminding us that darkness and delay do not mean He is absent. When we recognize His voice and welcome Him into the boat, we discover that the true miracle is not escaping the storm, but encountering Jesus within it.
In this sign from John 6, Jesus walks on water to reveal not just His power, but His identity. As the disciples struggle against wind and waves, fear rises-but the greater revelation is that Jesus comes to them in the middle of the storm. His delay is not absence, and the chaos does not have authority over Him. Rather than simply calming the storm, Jesus enters it and waits for an invitation into the boat. The message reminds us that storms, whether caused by us, by others, or by life itself, are opportunities to encounter Christ more deeply. He doesn’t avoid chaos; He has authority over it, and when we invite Him in, He leads us exactly where we’re meant to go.

In this Bible Story, Jesus feeds five thousand people with just five loaves of bread and two fish. The crowds want him to be made king, so Jesus departs before the crowd becomes violent. He multiplied the food to feed over five-thousand people! After this, the crowd became frenzied and Jesus sent His disciples ahead of Him on the sea while He escaped to pray.
