On today's show, we have Alex Sarama.  Alex is a basketball coach and the founder of Transforming Basketball, which is a company that specializes in coaching education and providing practical applications for sports coaches to implement sports training ecologically. Transforming Basketball is also the name of Alex's new book, which was released earlier this year and is an absolute must-read for anyone trying to take on an ecological approach to their training environment.  In the show, we take a deep dive into all things motor learning, particularly how coaches can start to implement and utilize the constraints-led approach as part of their practice and game preparation design.  We also discuss various topics, such as tracking habits, identifying rate limiters, and other concepts that are crucial to developing a wholesome program within an athletic department.  This is absolutely one of our best episodes yet and I'm excited to hear what you all think about the episode.  If you enjoy the episode, feel free to follow us on Instagram at Hot Takes Performance Podcast.  Now let's get to the episode with Alex Sarama. My guest for this episode is Rob Rowland. I've enjoyed working with Rob for just under 2 years here at UMBC.  Rob is an assistant professor and sports physical therapist at the University of Maryland.  He splits his time as a PT between the University of Maryland at College Park and at UMBC.  Rob has an incredible ability to connect with the athletes he works with but also has an extremely impressive knowledge base that he will use as part of his job in the teaching setting.  I enjoyed learning more about the role of the physical therapist especially regarding topics such as the soft skills in coaching, building buy-in with your athletes, the role movement variability has in physical therapy, what Rob's ideal higher education system would look like, and how tissue capacity is defined and works in regards to training and creating adaptations.  If you like today's show, feel free to leave us a review or reach out to us on Instagram at Hot Takes Performance podcast.  Thanks for listening.
