Weekly messages from HSM Sunday. A service for high school students as a part of HSM. The High School Ministry of Canyon Hills Community Church in Bothell, WA.
Jesus was fond of saying that the “kingdom of heaven” was at hand, inviting people to repent and become a part of it. But this kingdom would look completely opposite of what they were used to. It wasn't what people expected. The people of this kingdom would be by nature different because what he invited them into would be upside down of the world around. But as Jesus would promise, they would be truly blessed because of it.

What do we do when life’s on hold? When circumstances outside of our control or choosing limit our options and put us on “pause.”? One this series we’re looking at people in the Bible whose life, by one reason or another was put on pause. What they handled well, what they didn’t but ultimately what it teaches us about who God is and how He works in our lives in these times.

A series about the how and the why behind the spiritual practices God calls us to. Every practice he asks us to act upon is one that points us to His grace. Actions like prayer, meditating on Scripture, communion, baptism or tithing are more than mere ritual. They’re given by God because they remind us if of what he has already done on our behalf. They are worthy of our effort to do them correctly and understand why.

We aren’t just physical people living in a physical world. We are also spiritual beings living in a spiritual battle with an eternal destiny. If that’s true, it means there are things that greatly impact our daily life that we may not be aware of. These are subjects we need to know truth on so we can rightly respond.

David is known as the greatest king in Israel’s history and his life carries with it many twists, turns, great highs and terrible lows. We are drawn into the story of his life to be drawn into the larger story of what God is doing. David’s reign points us to a greater king who would be coming. Everywhere that David was great He will be greater and every way that David failed his people, He would not. Through David’s story we not only learn who we are but we get to point who Jesus is.
