In this episode, Graeme talks us through a framework in which we can experience Macbeth (you know, that Scottish play). Turns out that when you kill a Scottish king, everything goes topsy turvy.

Working with clients in psychoanalysis, one of the hardest tasks is helping them to see the negative things they do without realizing it. Self-destructive habits, procrastination of important activities, reckless or careless behaviors -- these all have causes from deep inside that we can't get to without help.Freud mistakenly linked these to what he called Thanatos -- a death drive -- proposing that we had a drive of destruction directed against life. Freud saw it as a complement to the life drive -- Eros -- and he saw both as part of our nature.That's a tough one to wrap your head around.But chew on this: Freud was an atheist. The idea of a struggle between life and nothingness was probable for him. Keppe, though, takes us back a step: we're not programmed for death, so to speak. We're infused with and immersed in life and goodness. Happiness and success is our natural inheritance then. Keppe's eminently hopeful perspective sees problems and anguish as common, but not inevitable parts of nature. For Keppe, what goes wrong circles back to human doings -- both individually and collectively. Our problem lies in psychological inversion; in a strange way, we're attracted to the dark side, and often repulsed by the good.Not by nature, then, but by choice.An even more difficult thing to wrap your head around then.The Inverted Pleasure in Evil, our episode this time on Therapeutic Theology.Click here to listen to this episode.

Do we have authority to forgive sins? For reference Matt 9:6 says, “But I want you to know that the Son of Man (ie. son of Adam) has authority on earth to forgive sins.”[Sep 29] I am wondering if it is your opinion that all churches (not just catholic) should honour truth and reconciliation day in some way? Is this the best way forward for unity to honour the indigenous communities? If so, What's the best starting point? Secondly, should all faith based organizations observe truth and reconciliation day? Do you think we have souls or spirits? If yes, what do you think the difference is? Are you each a dualist or phyhsicalist? If you're dualists how do you think that the soul communicates with our bodies? If you're physicalists how do you reconcile this with scripture?How does the morality of teleportation change if God is involved? Is it immoral to ask God to teleport myself? What about others? What about others even if it's against their will? [Sep 24] Do the Jewish people as a nation still fall under the categorization as God's chosen? Did this change when Christ came and they rejected him? Is what is happening today still part of god's story in wanting to build them as a nation and be the crossroads the priesthood…holy nation set apart? I know as gentiles non Jews we are grafted in but is the Jewish nation still the initial called out chosen ones and are we to pray for the peace of Israel? Is that for today?
