Lips that drip liquid myrrh, cheeks like beds of spices . . . what on earth is happening here? This week, we're making sense of the metaphors in Song of Songs. Find out how this bizarre (to us) love poetry shows us that God is wholeheartedly, enthusiastically, and unequivocally in favor of out-of-this-world sexual pleasure in marriage. our peace, our fear, our identity — is shaped by what we believe about God's love. This Sunday, as we open Song of Songs 6–7, we'll see that God's love isn't a vague idea or reluctant tolerance. It's a passionate, pursuing love that delights in His people — even in our weakness. When we know we're loved like that, apathy fades and hearts come alive. What do you believe God's love is like? Not the right answer. The real one. So much of who we are — our peace, our fear, our identity — is shaped by what we believe about God's love. Enjoy the journey of sex in your marriage in a God honoring way.
What if the way we view sex is more important than we think? What if it's really a window into how we view life itself? As we continue in our series through the Song of Songs, we'll come to a moment where two very different visions of sex stand in contrast. And as we explore them, we'll see that they're not just about physical intimacy—they represent two distinct ways of living. One leads to struggle and emptiness. The other, to wholeness and flourishing.

Today's poem is The Song of Songs of Songs of Songs by Jeremy Radin. The Slowdown is your daily poetry ritual. In this episode, Maggie writes… “Today's poem is one of my favorite kinds of poems—a list. And not any list, but a list of similes. This poet builds bridge after bridge, line after line. Don't worry—I won't give you homework, but maybe, just maybe, after listening to this poem, you'll be inspired to make a list of your own. I wonder what bridges you might build.” Celebrate the power of poems with a gift to The Slowdown today. Every donation makes a difference: https://tinyurl.com/rjm4synp

Have you ever felt insecure? Let me ask that another way- Are you human? We all can have insecurities and ways we feel conflicted about ourselves. This Sunday as we continue in our series in the Song of Songs we are going to see a wife feeling insecure and hear her husband speak reassurance into her heart. Through this we are given a picture of Christ and the great love that He has for us. This great love doesn't leave us looking to ourselves, but instead draws us into awe and wonder of the greatness of who He is. In a world full of so much hate, we need to be able to hear this song in our hearts.
Join us for our Sunday morning study through the Song of Songs.
Fear-based talk about demons and spiritual warfare often leads to scrupulosity, anxiety, or even despair. But the mystics of the Catholiv Church saw warfare differently. In the Song of Songs, the Bridegroom warns: “Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vineyards, for our vineyards are in blossom.”In this video, I explore how the foxes reveal the reality of spiritual warfare — not as Hollywood spectacle, but as the subtle work of sin, distraction, and even demons that creep into the vineyard of the soul. And how, through Christ the Gardener, we learn to guard intimacy rather than fight in fear.
