Send a textIntroduction: In a world where faith and politics often collide, understanding the role of Christians in civic engagement is more crucial than ever. In this insightful episode of Clarity from Chaos, host Dave Campbell and expert Dr. Chase Spears dissect the current state of faith in America, the responsibilities of Christians in political discourse, and the implications of their inaction on societal issues.Main Content:1. The Spiritual Battle: The podcast opens with Dave Campbell emphasizing the spiritual nature of the current societal chaos. He cites 1 Peter 5:6-8, highlighting the importance of humility and vigilance against evil. This sets the stage for a deeper discussion on the moral responsibilities of Christians in today's world.2. The State of Faith and Politics: Dr. Chase Spears articulates the fractured landscape of faith and politics, noting the divide among evangelicals. He describes one group that actively engages in civic duties, believing in the stewardship of their votes and voices, while another group, which he refers to as the "surrender theology camp," adopts a fatalistic view. This division illustrates the complexities within the Christian community regarding political engagement.3. Historical Context: The conversation touches on the historical imposition of restrictions on church involvement in politics, particularly referencing the 1954 IRS code prohibiting political speech from the pulpit. Dave argues that this has led to a broader cultural disengagement from religious values in political discussions, creating a vacuum that has allowed secular ideologies to flourish.4. The Role of the Church: Both hosts stress the necessity for church leaders to reclaim their voice in political matters, especially on moral issues like abortion. Dr. Spears recalls a powerful statement made by Senator Dusty Devers, suggesting that every abortion clinic should display a sign stating they operate "by permission of the church." This stark reminder emphasizes the church's complicity in societal moral decline.5. The Fear of Man: A recurring theme in the conversation is the fear of man, which prevents individuals and institutions from standing firm in their convictions. Dr. Spears shares anecdotes from his military experience, highlighting how fear can stifle necessary action and moral clarity. This fear, both in the military and the church, is seen as a barrier to fulfilling their God-given responsibilities.6. The Call to Action: Ultimately, Dave and Dr. Spears call for Christians to engage actively in political discussions and to hold their representatives accountable to biblical standards. They argue that while politics cannot save the world, active participation is essential to influence and guide society towards righteousness. Conclusion: The episode serves as a clarion call for Christians to reassess their role in politics and society. As they navigate the complexities of faith and civic duty, the key takeaway is the importance of standing firm in one's beliefs and engaging in the public square with conviction. The dialogue underscores a pressing need for church leaderSupport the show"Wherever you find yourself is exactly and precisely where God wills you to be" Support our show at the following: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2063276/support Follow us on X: @CFC30290 Follow us on Rumble: https://rumble.com/c/c-3123766 Website: https://clarityfromchaospodcast.buzzsprout.com/ Website: https://clarityfromchaos.substack.com YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFk-DsClSJ6m0GDmAcA7AAg Thanks for listening to Clarity from Chaos

Jarek Berga - January 25th 2025 When fear gives people more weight than God, idolatry quietly takes root. In this message, Jarek pauses our journey through Matthew to walk us through Exodus 32, the story of the golden calf. Rather than treating idolatry as an ancient or obvious sin, Jarek exposes how fear subtly reshapes our worship today—especially when the voices of people begin to carry more weight than the voice of God. When the vertical relationship with God fades, the horizontal pressures of approval, performance, and independence grow until people feel like giants and obedience feels impossible. Through the contrast between Aaron and Moses, we see two very different responses to pressure. Aaron edits God's word to calm the crowd, preserving peace at the cost of obedience. Moses, however, goes to God for the people, interceding rather than compromising. This distinction becomes the heart of the message: fear elevates people above God, but love brings people before God. The sermon ultimately points us to Jesus, our greater High Priest, who succeeds where Aaron and Moses fail. While we often cave, stay silent, or resist authority, Jesus always lives to intercede for us. He pleads our case before the Father, restores proper perspective, and frees us from the exhausting burden of seeking approval or defending independence. As His voice becomes the loudest in our lives, people return to their proper size—and God returns to His rightful place. The Fear of God stands as a foundational virtue in Christian ethics, appearing throughout Scripture as the beginning of wisdom and knowledge. Dave Rich examines this essential attribute in lesson 10 of his Christian ethics series, demonstrating how The Fear of God shapes believers' lives through faith, obedience, and trust. This biblical virtue appears in over 300 verses commanding believers to fear God while rejecting the fear of man or circumstances. The Fear of God leads to life, produces humility, and turns believers away from evil. Rich explores the profound connection between this virtue and anxiety, showing that worry reveals misplaced fear and denigrates God's providence. Therefore, believers must cultivate The Fear of God as the soul of wisdom, casting all anxiety on him who cares for them. This teaching illuminates how proper fear of God eliminates improper fear of everything else, grounding Christian living in eternal perspective rather than temporal concerns.Download Notes | Download Presentation ★ Support this podcast ★
In this episode of the Step Up Podcast, Pastor Chris Kouba and host Josh Thomas tackle the tension every man feels between the fear of God and the fear of man. Starting with Halloween, haunted houses, spiders, and flying cockroaches, they move into a deeper conversation about why not all fear is bad—and how a healthy fear can actually lead to courage, wisdom, and confidence, while unhealthy fear keeps you paralyzed.Looking at the story of Joshua and Caleb and the ten spies in Numbers 13, Pastor Chris contrasts people-pleasing, image-management, and comfort-seeking with a life anchored in conviction and the fear of the Lord. From work integrity, to pornography, to dads holding the line on phones, budgets, and boundaries at home, this episode invites men to step out of people-pleasing and into the freedom of living before an audience of One.If you've ever felt muted, stuck, or scared of what others will think, this conversation will help you name your fears, take one obedient next step, and model courageous conviction for your kids and the people you lead. There is a very common type of fear identified in the Bible that is not talked about much. It is the fear of man. It's a fear of people and it can include intimidation, peer pressure, social anxiety, isolation, and insecurity. The fear of man can lead us to make choices that aren't right for us or avoid making decisions at all. Main Points:1. When we are filled with the fear of man we are no longer focused on God, his presence, and his power in our lives. The fear of man leads us to a place of bondage and enslavement. We become slaves to our fears and unable to move forward.2. The fear of man asks: What do people think of me? Will they accept me? What if I'm rejected? What if they don't like what I'm doing? How can I face something like that?3. The will of God for your life is peace and rest. God's will is for you to live with confidence in your Heavenly Father's love. When we fear others we live for their approval. As believers, we are to live for the approval of God.Today's Scripture Verses:Psalm 29:25 - “The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.”Hebrews 13:6 - “So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”Galatians 1:10 - “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”Psalm 27:1 - “The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?”Proverbs 14:27 - “The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death.Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group
Roe falls, Obergefell stands—what does that say about America? In this episode, Kevin Swanson and Bill Jack walk through Justice Alito's recent appeal to stare decisis on same-sex "marriage," contrasting the Court's insistence on reciprocity for homosexual unions with its refusal to extend similar protections to pro-life laws. They trace how sexual autonomy has become the crown jewel of modern humanism, why opposition to homosexuality now draws more hostility than opposition to abortion, and how Republicans have largely abandoned God's law on both fronts. The conclusion is sobering: a nation that rejects God's standards and celebrates death—whether through kill-pill abortions or sterile unions—stands under His judgment. The only faithful response is to recover the fear of God in our homes and discipleship.
In this video we provide a brief update on the status of the channel and personal life. Then we delve into a topic that has important relevance for the church today. The fear of man is what stagnates genuine Christian growth and true gospel proclamation. The Scriptures call us to war against these inclinations to seek the approval of others, and rather pursue the approval of the one who created us and gave His life for us. Additionally, please continue to pray for this channel especially for some upcoming projects in the year 2026. To God be the glory forever and ever Amen.
Hebrews: The True and Better - Hebrews 11.23-28Jobey McGintyMoses had a pretty amazing life. He had all the fame and treasure of Egypt right at his fingertips. But when he grew up, he refused it all. Why? Because he chose to get mistreated with God's people rather than enjoying the "fleeting pleasures of sin."He had an eternal perspective. By faith, he saw something the world couldn't: the "reproach of Christ" was greater wealth than anything Egypt had to offer because he was "looking to the reward." This is our model—to trust God's unseen promises over the world's visible threats. It's that faith that let him lead God's people right through an impossible situation at the Red Sea, proving God's power when their own strength ran out.
In Proverbs twenty-nine twenty five we find words that speak volumes of truth which we need to hear in our social media-saturated world. “The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.” All of us struggle at times with making a good impression while wondering what other people think about us. This, according to Proverbs, is a snare, as it can become an obsession, trapping us into the vicious and spiritually deadly whirlpool of making every effort to seek man's approval, rather than living to the glory of God. Tim Keller says that “if we look to human beings more than to God for our worth and value, we will be trapped by anxiety, an over-need to please, by the inability to withdraw from exploitive relationships, by the inability to take criticism, and by a cowardice that makes us unable to confront others.” As Christians, we must push back on our bent towards fear of man, as we learn to live to God's glory alone. And, we need to lead our kids to do the same.

Is there a cure for the fear of man?
What is a fear of man? How does it affect us?
Welcome to Week 5 of our Hidden Gems series at Citizen Church! This week, Pastor Dustin brings a powerful and practical message titled "Fear of God vs. Fear of Man" — a word that speaks to all of us, no matter our age or season of life. We all wrestle with fear. But there's one fear the Bible warns can trap us more than any other — the fear of man. It can rob us of boldness, delay our obedience, and cause us to live for approval instead of purpose. The good news? The fear of the Lord is not fear as the world knows it — it's awe, reverence, and alignment with God… and it leads to life and freedom. Key Scriptures: Proverbs 29:25 | Proverbs 19:23 | Psalm 112:1,7 | Psalm 118:6 | Galatians 1:10 | 1 Samuel 15:24 | Proverbs 14:27 In this message, you'll learn: – How the fear of man traps us into people-pleasing and passivity – Why the fear of God brings peace, perspective, and power – What this tension looks like across different life stages — from teens to senior saints – How to trade insecurity for security by listening to God's voice above all others “The fear of man is living your life in response to people… instead of obedience to God.” “Every time fear wins, something God planned for you gets delayed.” Final Thought / Weekly Challenge: This week, take time to reflect: What has the fear of man kept you from doing that God is calling you to do? Ask God for courage to obey, even when it's uncomfortable — and trust that fearing Him leads to freedom, not bondage. Let this be the week you choose purpose over popularity, truth over approval, and His voice over every other.
Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Today's shout-out goes to Mark & Holly Roth from Burnsville, MN. Thank you for standing with us throughout Project 23. Your support is helping others encounter Jesus, not just in theory, but in truth. This one's for you. Our text today is Mark 11:31-33: And they discussed it with one another, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,' he will say, ‘Why then did you not believe him?' But shall we say, ‘From man'?”—they were afraid of the people, for they all held that John really was a prophet. So they answered Jesus, “We do not know.” And Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.” — Mark 11:31-33 The religious leaders are finally cornered. Jesus asked them a question about John the Baptist, and they knew whichever way they answered, it would cost them. So they evade with the response, “We don't know.” But they do know. They've just chosen not to answer, because the truth would force a change they're unwilling to make. They feared the people. They feared losing influence. They feared what complete honesty would require of them. So they play it safe. They answer with a non-answer. And Jesus refuses to answer their original question, just like they evade his. Sometimes the real problem isn't that we don't know what's true, it's that we don't want to deal with the consequences of accepting the known truth. So we pretend we're unsure. So we stall. So we delay obedience. Which in the end is disobedience. But deep down most of the time, we already know the answer. You know that habit has to go. You know that relationship isn't healthy. You know the forgiveness needs to be extended. You know Jesus is calling you to surrender something. Stop playing games with God. Stop saying “I don't know” when the truth is right before you. Remember, the truth is a gift. But it only changes you when you receive it from God, accept it into your heart, soul, and mind, and apply it to your life. #ActOnTruth, #Mark11, #ObedientFaith ASK THIS: Why did the religious leaders say “We don't know” when they did? What does fear of people often prevent us from doing? Where have you delayed obedience, claiming uncertainty? What would it look like to step into truth without hesitation? DO THIS: Name one thing God has already made clear to you, but you've been putting off. Then take one action step today toward obedience. PRAY THIS: Lord, I don't want to pretend I don't know what you're asking. Give me the courage to act on the truth I've already received. Amen. PLAY THIS: "From The Inside Out."
