Alumnus Kevin Olson, MA '09, served in the Minnesota Army National Guard. Because of 9/11, he had to put finishing his master's degree on hold and was deployed to Iraq multiple times. He was able to creatively complete his degree, but because of another deployment, accepted his degree virtually. After retiring from the Guard, Olson began teaching in the Master of Arts in Strategic Communication Management program at CSP and opened his own PR firm, SnowGlobe Public Relations.
CSP's outgoing Executive Vice President and Dean of Diversity Dr. Cheryl Chatman shares her story, what she loves about CSP, and what she hopes for the future as she steps into retirement.
In our final installment of our COVID-19 series, Dr. David Bell, member of Concordia's Board of Regents and physician at Mayo Clinic, shares his experience working at Mayo during the pandemic, some ways to keep yourself healthy, and what doctors and researchers are learning about this disease.

To close out our Enlightened Care: Career series, Dr. Cheryl Kelley, MA '08 shares her expertise on how you as a new employee can meaningfully and effectively approach a new job. We cover topics such as evaluating a job offer, accepting a job offer, and onboarding in your new position. Kelley chairs CSP's marketing management and human resources management undergraduate programs, and operates her own consulting firm, Hire & Inspire, where she coaches organizations on human capital management.
We continue our Enlightened Care: Career series in this episode by looking at professional development through the lens of networking, professional organizations, and mentoring. CSP alumnus Bert Lee, BA '17, received his degree in graphic design. Bert is a passionate person, who cares deeply about design, public speaking, community organizing, and dancing. He has pursued numerous opportunities to grow personally and professionally, developing networking skills and mentoring relationships in a variety of ways. Today, we’ll hear a bit about Bert’s story and the impact professional development has had on his life and his personal growth. We’ll also hear from CSP’s director of career development, Andrea Mayer, as she reflects on professional development from her professional and personal perspective.
From her perspective as a recruiter, alumna Carlie Donley, MA '12 shares her thoughts on navigating career moves. She shared how to approach this topic in two ways, first as a new graduate entering the workforce, and second as a person switching to a new career field. This conversation will hopefully give you good insights and useful ideas on how to navigate career change in your life.

After completing his undergraduate degree, Antone Wilson had the opportunity to continue his football career at CSP while earning his MBA. However, things didn't go quite as planned, but Antone still had a great experience at CSP that propelled him toward his future. He's now established in the fitness/training industry, and working on some cool entrepreneurial projects in south Florida. John Pimental, BA '10, came to CSP to major in physical education and participate on the football and track and field teams. After graduating, he worked as a gym teacher and coach, as well as on residence life staff at CSP. However, a discovery flight changed everything for him, and now he is a captain at SkyWest Airlines, a regional affiliate of Delta, American, United, and Alaska Airlines.
