Sleepaway Camp Much better than the first time I saw it - decent gore, creative kills, good suspense and directing. But this movie hasn't survived all these years because of those things. It's the ending - what a shock of an ending. One of the greatest twist endings of all time because you don't see it coming. If you like movies like this you should enjoy it. The Ranger A decent slasher movie with a unique style and killer. Really enjoyed the music. The Ritual ++Possible Spoilers++ One of the better movies I have seen so far in 2021 and I am not just saying that. Acting, directing, suspense, gore, story, score, all of it works to make one of the more unique and interesting movies that I have watched. Plus, the creature effects are amazing - one of the best looking creatures that I have ever seen on screen. Loved it. Highly recommend this movie. The Dark and the Wicked Creepy. Scary. Intense. Suspenseful. Finally a scary movie that actually is scary. It's a classic old school slow burn ghost story and if you like those movies you will enjoy this one. Highly recommended. The Cleansing Hour Really enjoyed this movie and I might go as far as to say this was one of the better movies I have seen on Shudder. I enjoy movies like this, enjoy the ultimate battle of good and evil, and this excels at truly giving you a battle of dark versus light. Also thought, acting, directing, special effects, tension and suspense were great. A few complaints splashed throughout, but nothing that hurt the movie. Highly recommend if you like possession movies. Haunt Intense. Brutal. Terrifying. Edge of your seat suspense. A great horror movie from start to finish. Beautifully shot and directed, solid cast. Really liked this one. And that acoustic version of Dragula that rolled over the end credits - haunting and beautiful. Highly recommended. The Slumber Party Massacre As a Slasher Movie fan I thought I would enjoy this one more. It was boring at times, the effects weren't all that great except for the pizza man - that was a nice touch. The killer was also kind of boring compared to others in this genre. It wasn't a terrible movie, not unwatchable, but not one I would revisit often. Score was also decent. Slumber Party Massacre II Slightly better than the first. The killer was very unique and underused. Enjoyed seeing Crystal Bernard in an early role - Wings was and still is one of my favorite TV comedies. Overall the movie did enough to keep me watching and mostly entertained. Sorority House Massacre Better than expected but not one of the best Slasher movies I have seen. Gore, score, and direction - those are the highlights and they are done extremely well. In fact, you could make this a silent film and that score would carry the entire movie. It was ridiculously good. And the direction - excellent. Mario Bava is a master. I also mentioned gore, well, there is plenty of that as well and the effects are great. The story is solid and it does keep you guessing up until the end. A bit confusing at times but it doesn't detract from the movie. I can see why this movie has been copied and imitated by so many that were released after it. Thumbs up. Highly recommended if you like movies like this. It works and it is what you would expect from a movie like this. Big action sequences, great battles, effects were amazing, loved the score, enjoyed the battles, solid direction, and a decent script. Favorite part had to be the Hollow Earth segments - that was great. I am not versed enough in Kong or Godzilla to truly appreciate what they were showing me inside Hollow Earth, but I liked it. I wouldn't mind to watch a whole movie set in that world. And the humans had a few nice moments in this one as well. Enjoyed the girl and Kong relationship - helped to give Kong a bit of a personality. I recommend this movie. It was never dull and it kept me entertained until the very end. A descent slasher movie, nothing too special. Acting and script were a meh, more of a meh than most of these slasher movies, but the movie shined when the killer was on the prowl. Not sure I have seen a killer in one of these movies that had so much gusto. When the killer got to chopping you felt it. Great score as well. Not sure the ending worked but I let it go. You know what you are getting into when you go into a movie like this. Effects were amazing - I was sold on jeans going on a killing spree. Comedy was solid - there's a dance sequence in this movie that is hilarious. I can't believe how great it looked. Gore, spectacular, one kill especially sealed it for me - it was that kill that really put this movie over the top. I actually rewound it and watched it again. You can tell the makers of this film knew what they were making and they had fun doing it. Plus you get a nice message about how we should be treating people in this world. Thumbs up. Recommend it. One of the scarier movies that I have ever seen - and that's saying a lot. Seen a bunch of scary movies in my lifetime. There was a moment in this movie where the horror just kept coming, no let up. Most ghost stories have a beat - a scare, story, a scare, story, etc. but this one had a segment where it kept throwing the scary stuff at me and never let up - loved that. Also, it has a great story, great acting, great directing, great cinematography, and so forth and so on - Oscars need not look past this one. Can't recommend it enough. Great movie from start to finish. It really has to be seen because a review will not do it justice. Visually this movie is stunning. The score is amazing. The directing is top notch. Acting is great. What more can I say about it? And added bonus - Nicolas Cage is allowed to do whatever he wants with his character and man is he fun to watch. Got to give him credit for giving his all in a movie like this. Most actors would have just played the part, cashed the check, and moved on. Big thumbs up. Highly recommended.
