Hi all - welcome to Queer Reflections - the podcast where we discuss queer representation in our visual media - past, present and future. Today on the fourth episode of Season Two, I am joined by Daniel Schmidt (he/she/they) who is from Berlin, Germany. We get to explore Daniel's relationship with queer media, talk about their upbringing, education and more. We explore Will & Grace, Queer as Folk, Drag Race, German Literature and beyond! Check out Daniel's bio below! "My name is Daniel, I identify as non-binary queer and I respond to all/any pronouns. My hometown is Hannover in Germany and I have been living in Berlin for about 12 years. My professional background is on journalism/media but I went over to the corporate site where I am a case worker in stock media licensing. Queer culture, fashion and art are my personal passions and I have been modelling for art and photography for about 5 years now which allowed me to explore my identity. In the queer art space on Instagram, I am proud to represent non binary aesthetics. Outside of the queer space, I am quite invested in current affairs and I love to travel - which sadly hasn't happened since the start or the pandemic." Hi all - welcome to Queer Reflections - the podcast where we discuss queer representation in our visual media - past, present and future. Today on the third episode of Season Two, I am joined by Rick Yale (he/him) who is an Actor from Cardiff, South Wales. He has recently been in (@KernowKing_) Edward Rowe's Cornish Language short film MAB HUDEL, which will play at Encounters Film Festival, London Film Festival and other Venues.  "I have always taken a massive interest in Film, Theatre, TV, and the video game industry of the 90's and early 2000's and so it was a natural progression that led to me training to become a professional actor. It was during my time training at drama school (where I came out in my early twenties) where I began to take an active look at queer representation in the media. It has been a continuous journey understanding my identity as an openly gay actor in an ever-changing industry and I have witnessed first-hand how being open about my sexuality has both helped and hindered my career trajectory. That being said, I do take great solace in the fact that the large body of work that I have had as an actor has been working with queer collaborators,  telling queer narratives and adding to the representation of the LGBTQIA community". We get to explore Rick's relationship with queer media, talk about his upbringing and education, through HBO's LOOKING, Queer as Folk, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and more! You can find Rick on Twitter and Instagram at @yalerick.  Special Thanks -  Thank you to Natalys Willcox for the ongoing support and love.
