Our guest this week is the actor and director, Dominic Brunt. Most of you will know Dominic from his iconic role as Paddy Kirk in the soap opera Emmerdale, who he's played for almost 30 years! Along the way he's been nominated for 11 British Soap Awards, 4 Inside Soap Awards (winning one) and a TV Times Award. But, he's also a massive horror film fan. So much so, that he produces and directs horror films with his wife, and has starred in a ton of British horror films too. This one was recorded a few months ago before we invested in some better cameras! So if you're watching this instead of listening, apologies for the poor quality. Now, today's guest is someone I'm delighted to welcome back. The wonderful Bill Ward.Bill started his career in advertising with Saatchi & Saatchi before following his passion for acting. You'll know him as Charlie Stubbs in Coronation Street and James Barton in Emmerdale, and he's currently touring in The Shawshank Redemption. But there's another side to Bill we didn't fully explore last time—his photography. He's an award-winning photographer and was named Landscape Photographer of the Year. His latest book, Immersive, captures the raw beauty and power of the ocean—a project four years in the making. It's a joy to have him back—and he shares some brilliant insights on building a life around your passions. If you'd like to listen to Bill's first episode which is where he talks about moving from Advertising to Acting you can listen here: https://www.elliebarkerwrites.com/billwardIf you'd like to download my FREE novella Could We Just Do That Again you can do that here: https://www.elliebarkerwrites.com/And if you'd like to join my 3 Pieces of Next Chapter Inspiration newsletter including more of these conversations (and I'd love that) you can sign up here: https://www.elliebarkerwrites.com/ Hosted on Acast. Bill Ward is a multi-award-winning creative photographer and professional actor from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England. Known for his pioneering work with Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), Bill's photography explores energy, motion, and emotion—particularly through his long-running ocean project that culminated in the book Immersive, published in 2025. While many recognise Bill for his acting career—most notably his roles as Charlie Stubbs in Coronation Street and James Barton in Emmerdale—photography has become an equally important creative outlet. For Bill, photography offers a quiet counterbalance to the public nature of acting, allowing him to explore solitude, reflection, and connection to place. In this episode, Bill Ward discusses balancing two demanding creative careers while touring theatre productions such as The Shawshank Redemption. He shares how travelling for acting roles inspired numerous photographic projects, including a 16-year exploration of theatres and a pandemic-era book created in collaboration with the Theatres Trust. Bill also explains his fascination with photographing water using long exposures and intentional camera movement, creating images that focus less on representation and more on feeling. His approach centres on time, immersion, and emotional connection to the landscape rather than simply documenting a scene. Alongside his photographic work, Bill is a judge for the UK Landscape Photographer of the Year awards, leads workshops internationally, and continues to exhibit in galleries across the UK. His perspective highlights photography as a deeply personal practice—one rooted in quiet observation, creative experimentation, and the search for moments of stillness. I hope you enjoy the show! MEETING DUNK & EGG!! The world of Westeros CONTINUES to grow as Greg, John, & Michael Tessler UNITE to give their A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Reaction, Recap, Analysis, Breakdown, Commentary, & Spoiler Review!! Greg Alba, John Humphrey, & Michael Tessler react to the season premiere of HBO's A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the new Game of Thrones spinoff adapted from George R.R. Martin's Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas (The Hedge Knight). Set roughly a century before the events of Game of Thrones and after the events of House of the Dragon, the new series shifts the scale from epic wars to intimate adventures, focusing on honor, friendship, and the realities of knighthood in Westeros. The premiere introduces Ser Duncan the Tall, known as Dunk (Peter Claffey – Bad Sisters, Vikings: Valhalla), a towering hedge knight with a strong moral compass but little status, and his sharp-witted soon-to-be squire Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell – The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, Emmerdale). Their journey places them amid the politics of the Seven Kingdoms during the reign of King Aegon V Targaryen's era, brushing up against noble houses, tourneys, and the lingering legacy of Targaryen rule. As Ser Duncan attempts to honor his mentor and make a name for himself, a new opportunity presents itself in the form of a tourney... Blending classic Game of Thrones lore with a lighter, more personal perspective, the premiere sets the stage for a series rooted in chivalry, consequence, and the everyday lives shaped by Westeros' power struggles. It's a refreshing return to the world of George R.R. Martin—less about thrones, more about the people who live in their shadow. I don't know about you, but I enjoyed ITV's recent Coronation Street and Emmerdale Corriedale crossover, a special episode to promote the new “power hour” of soaps broadcast every night on the channel. I haven't watched either soap regularly for years, but I tuned in because it was an event. An opportunity to see popular characters converse, and perhaps the hope of the history of both shows being honoured in some way.Excitingly, my hopes were answered. The cinematic presentation of the car crash, and the way these characters came together, was well put together for what it was. Clearly, a lot of thought had gone into the execution, and the cast delivered. For me, a throwback fan of both shows' past, the moment of WOW came when Ken Barlow and Eric Pollard shared a scene for the first time. It was a throwaway scene that didn't add much to the plot, but it was necessary. Even if you've never watched either show, you'll know of Ken and Eric. They are a constant and a route back to each show's respective origins.Bill Roache has been in Coronation Street since the first episode in 1960. Viewers have watched Ken's life unfold and shared in every piece of drama he has endured. Chris Chittell joined Emmerdale Farm in 1986, and Eric has been a man of many guises and eras. Both characters witnessed the evolution of their shows, from kitchen sink teatime fodder to today's soapy tension roundabout of secrets and murders. When I watched the episode of Emmerdale before Corriedale, I was struck by the difference in feel to the show of yesteryear. A far cry from the kitchen table of Annie Sugden.Allow me to digress a little here with Ma Sugden in mind, that I ask...What would Corriedale have looked like 40 years ago? 1986 was a time when both shows sought to reinvent themselves. The arrival of Alan Bradley in one, and the car crash death of Pat Sugden in another. What could have happened in a crossover? Perhaps a car crash could've involved the Sugdens and Barlows, with Jack, Joe and Ken at odds with one another. Perhaps Mike Baldwin has a business deal with Alan Turner? Or maybe, when thinking of the era, there was a cricket match involving Seth Armstrong and Jack Duckworth, what would Seth have made of Vera, Rita, Mavis or Ivy Tilsley? Such scenarios are only reserved for fan fiction, as we ponder what Amos Brearly and Henry Wilkes would've made of Bet Lynch's Rovers Return. The other thing that makes the whole thing pure fantasy is that such a crossover would've never happened because of the logistics of that time. Emmerdale Farm, as it was then, was mostly a daytime or early evening show that began to go primetime in the late 80s. Corrie was made by Granada, Emmerdale by Yorkshire Television, two different regional companies. They could've worked together, but it was unlikely. Both shows had different styles and approaches, each coming from different roots. I would argue it was only possible now because while each show has an identity, the gap isn't as wide as it used to be.I'm sure there are many critics for the crossover that did happen, but I was fairly impressed. There may have been other times it would've been excellent, such as during the era of the Tates in the early 90s, but they chose to do it at the right time. It was event television that is sorely needed in the age of declining viewership of linear television. It was an intriguing proposition to bring two titans of British soap together, and do so with drama and a hint of nostalgia. It may not be the golden years for either show, but there was enough of both DNA through the prescience of Barlows, Sugdens, Platts, Websters and Dingles to make any longtime soap fan cry with joy. Ken and Pollard? The icing on the cake.So what else is there to say? I've said enough. If you have anything to say about the shows mentioned in this podcast, you can email Jamie@OldTimeReview.co.uk, tweet @OldTimeReview on Twitter or check out the Facebook page, Old Time Review.
To celebrate last week's Corriedale crossover, we teamed up with Dingle All The Way, a podcast dedicated to all things Emmerdale, to share our reactions to one of the biggest soap events of 2026. With neither side knowing a great deal about the other's serial drama of choice, how did we find watching characters we know and love rubbing shoulders with faces we only had minimal awareness of? Could we follow what was going on, and were we able to help each other untangle any moments that left us scratching our heads? We had a brilliant time chatting with Simon and Lizzie, swapping perspectives on Coronation Street and Emmerdale, and we hope you'll enjoy listening to this special podcast crossover as much as we enjoyed recording it.
This podcast covers episodes 11,767 to 11,772. Disaster awaits on a lonely Yorkshire road as characters from Coronation Street and Emmerdale are on collision course. Theo suggests that people are talking about Todd being responsible for the Corriedale Crash. Carl convinces Debbie that she was driving when their car crashed into the minibus. A mysterious woman with a tree tattoo escapes from a van and is oddly interested in Shona. Carla is in no hurry to reconcile with Swain and Becky has no plans to take the rap on her own. Happy birthday, Vincent Harper. Sally does herself a mischief. Steve is useless.

Earlier this evening, Coronation Street and Emmerdale fans across the UK were united in anticipation as the ultimate soap crossover finally exploded onto our screens. Two worlds collided in a spectacular stunt that saw Billy tragically meet his maker (and, we assume, enjoy a heavenly rave-up with Paul), while Carl's fate - and the survival of Shona's baby - remain agonisingly up in the air. There was absolutely no chance we were waiting until the weekend to unpack this one, so here are our immediate reactions: what we loved, what we might have liked to have seen but didn't, and just what on earth we think might happen next after one of the most talked about nights in soap for years.

On our latest episode of the podcast, we chat about what went on in Corrie between the 17th and the 21st November (Episodes #11,717 - 11,722). We all saw the fall out with George coming after Theo unplugged poor Todd's phone last week, but for many viewers, it didn't make those scenes at the end of Monday's episode any less heartbreaking. And as for Theo forcing Todd to play the welcoming host to Pete of all people on Wednesday... We've got a lot to say about this story this week for sure! Meanwhile, Carl makes it clear that he sees no future for him and Abi if Alfie is part of the equation - will it soon be time to say Auf Wiedersehen to Kev's brother, and will Abi learn about his liaisons with James before he goes? Also this week, Carla snaps when she thinks that Becky's had her arrested, Sally reckons she's got some dirt on Tricia and Roy reveals he's writing to people in prison - but do we already know the identity of any of his pen pals? Up next on the podcast it's The Kabin, and we take a look at the characters that Corrie and Emmerdale fans can pick from to meet up in the crossover. We round off the show with your thoughts on the David and Shona special episode in feedback. Street Talk - 00:16:06 The Kabin - 02:13:51 Feedback - 02:26:14

Hi, it's Natalie here. This episode is an emotional and important one. I'm joined by Tim Royal, a television director known for his work on Coronation Street, Emmerdale, and EastEnders, who reached out to me to share the story behind his short film "It's the Hope That Kills You."If you've been listening for a while, you'll know that male factor infertility was part of my own fertility story. This week, TV writer, producer and director Sally Wainwright OBE is pulling up a seat at Grace's kitchen table. Sally's love for words started at the age of nine, when she and her sister would stage plays together in their bedroom, a passion that would one day see her writing for beloved British soaps like The Archers, Emmerdale and Coronation Street. But the road to writing royalty has not always been so smooth, and Sally and Grace discuss the foods that have seen her through it all — from spaghetti pie, canteen stodge during her bus driving days, boozy lunches at Corrie, and Sally's own concoctions in the kitchen

We've walked the Corrie cobbles more times than we can count, so we thought - why not give the Dales a try? Last weekend, we headed up to Yorkshire for the Emmerdale Village Tour, despite knowing next to nothing about ITV's second soap. And, of course, it wouldn't be a Conversation Street trip up north without a little detour! Alongside the official tour, we also popped over to Esholt, the village that was home to Emmerdale between 1976 and 1997. But the big question is: is the Emmerdale tour worth taking if you don't know your Dingles from your Sugdens? Tune in to find out! Also available as a vide version on YouTube, with loads of photos and footage from the day! https://youtu.be/wPbDzarca7Y

For a woman who never wanted to be a singer, international sensation Maria Elena Infantino has certainly made her mark. And we're thrilled to welcome her to our show today. Maria grew up in Rome to a famously talented family of opera singers. In fact, Maria is working on a documentary about her father, tenor Luigi Infantino, and we'll talk about that. Maria was schooled in London and studied drama, but upon graduating, her first job wasn't acting, instead, she sang a rendition of “Do You Want To Know A Secret” for the 50th Beatles Anniversary with Shirley Bassey at the Royal Albert Hall. She debuted as a professional actress on the ITV British series “Emmerdale.” She's hosted and produced a one woman show in London as a tribute to her father, and that same year, she was nominated for the 21st annual L.A. Music Awards as best International artist. Maria eventually made her way to Los Angeles, where she lives in addition to Europe. There, she created another one woman show based on legendary French Icon Edith Piaf. She's done so much, and often performs at one of my favorite spots in LA - Vibrato. What I notice most about Maria is how vibrant she is, always on the move and living life to the fullest. Did I mention she speaks five languages fluently? Please find join my discussion with Maria on all video and audio platforms of #DeborahKobyltLIVE #LittleItalyPodcast and the #LittleItalyOfLAPodcast on all video and audio platforms. Please invite your friends, too. I'm your host, #DeborahZaraKobylt, and it's my pleasure to welcome you here.
On our latest episode of the podcast, we chat about the Weatherfield drama between the 17th and the 19th February (Episodes #11,495 - 11,500) With EastEnders' 40th anniversary taking place this week, the ITV soaps had to put on quite the spectacle to compete. Emmerdale threw all it had into crashing a limo into an icy lake whilst Corrie put all its eggs into the Rob Donovan escape basket... but did it end up with egg on its own face? Also this week, there are ball gags aplenty as Kevin goes under the knife - can Abi hold it together and support her hubby? Meanwhile, Max pleads guilty to the fire at No. 8, Mick and Lou prove to be quite the nuisance neighbours, and Eileen's sister Julie is back in Weatherfield - but why is this Carp being so coy? It's a Street Talk only podcast this week as we've been away in London for a few days, but with plenty to dissect about this week's action on the cobbles, we reckon it's still a fun show!
This week on Who We Are Now with Izzy and Richard Hammond, we're thrilled to welcome the brilliant Kelvin and Liz Fletcher. Best known for their roles on screen—Kelvin in Emmerdale—the Fletchers made a bold leap from TV fame to farming, buying hundreds of acres of land with little experience. Join Richard, Izzy, Kelvin, and Liz as they dive into life's big risks, share their love (and obsession) for Rightmove, and debate whether Richard's world-famous dad dancing could ever win Strictly Come Dancing.Listen on Global Player to hear the next episode a whole day earlier than anywhere else. Dancer, actor, father of four and farmer. There are very few things that Kelvin Fletcher cannot do. ‘Hold on', you might say. ‘What do you mean farmer? I thought that was just acting?' Well, it was, until about three years ago when Kelvin and his wife Liz decided that they needed a change of scenery. Plans to move to Los Angeles were touted, but a far more sensible decision (we think) was made: a move to a small family farm in the Peak District.Listen to Country Life podcast on Apple PodcastsListen to Country Life podcast on SpotifyListen to Country Life podcast on AudibleNot your typical move for an actor and he'll be the first to admit it. But since the move, he and his family haven't looked back. Even better for us, they decided to bring some TV cameras with them to document the experience, leading to the creation of Fletchers' Family Farm, the second season of which began yesterday.Did playing a farmer on Emmerdale provide any experience for the real thing? What are some of his favourite animals? What did he wish he'd known before he started? And is he still dancing?
