Over half of performing artists and artistic athletes report pelvic floor symptoms. Up to 80% of female artistic athletes report pelvic floor symptoms, yet many believe these issues—like urinary leakage during performance—are par for the course, part of the job. Today, Jessica Frydenberg explains who performing artists are, why they are particularly susceptible to pelvic floor symptoms, and what this means for your clinical practice. Jess is an experienced pelvic health physiotherapist and PhD candidate at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia. She has extensive experience working with performing artists, and recently led a systematic review investigating the epidemiology of pelvic floor symptoms in performing artists. ------------------------------ RESOURCES Prevalence and impact of pelvic floor symptoms systematic review: https://www.jospt.org/doi/10.2519/jospt.2025.13452

Emma Zeck, is a poet, singer, songwriter, and performing artist, and the creator of Renaissance Mystery School. She channels what she calls the forbidden feminine and invites us to reclaim our power through creativity, ritual, and raw truth.Emma and I dive into her story of breaking away from a strict Christian upbringing, losing her family, and finding her voice as a fierce creative force. We talk about what it means to descend into the underworld of the feminine, why facing darkness and death matters, and how writing, art, and embodiment can become medicine for spiritual awakening. She shares her thoughts on the ways society suppresses instinct and mystery, the trap of purity culture even in wellness, what it really takes to live unapologetically in your fire, and to reclaim your voice as a woman in the process. Emma even reads one of her powerful poems live—and wow, it will blow you away. This is a fiery, real conversation that asks you to question, to descend, and to allow yourself to hunger for more. Twin Cities–based dancer and choreographer Dominick Burkhardt discovered his passion for the arts early in life, growing up in his mother's dance studio. Immersed in a creative environment from a young age, he trained extensively in all styles of dance—including ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, contemporary, modern, and acro—building a versatile and dynamic foundation. He honed his technical and performance skills at both Larkin Dance Studio and the Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists, graduating in 2018 with a strong focus on both commercial and concert dance. During his time at SPCPA, he also received training in musical theater, further enriching his performance range while maintaining a strong dance core. His diverse training has allowed him to move seamlessly across genres, whether on stage, on screen, or in the studio. Dominick has worked with top artists and global brands, performing and modeling for the NFL and several Fortune 500 companies in a range of commercial campaigns. He is a current company member with Black Label Movement, where he performed at the 2024 American Dance Festival, and has worked with companies and artists including Rachel Lieberman in the Red Eye's NW4W Festival, Cheng Xiong in the Candy Box Dance Festival presented by ARENA DANCES, and Eduardo Navarro in Cloud Museum, performed at the Walker Art Center. In addition to performing and choreographing, Dominick is a dedicated educator who currently teaches all styles of dance at various Twin Cities dance schools. With a deep appreciation for both technique and artistry, he's passionate about helping dancers of all levels grow in confidence, versatility, and discipline. Outside of the dance world, Dominick holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Upper Iowa University and works as a system administrator in Minneapolis. He also serves as a Staff Sergeant in the Iowa Air National Guard. Whether on stage, in the studio, or in uniform, Dominick is committed to excellence, mentorship, and empowering others through discipline, creativity, and purpose in every area of life.

We explore how these challenges affect everyone regardless of profession, examining the psychology behind fear of success, fear of failure, and the importance of reframing our relationship with both.• Fear of success stems from our addiction to comfort and resistance to the changes success brings• Family and loved ones may unintentionally discourage our dreams due to their own insecurities and fears• Reframing failure as valuable feedback rather than the "end of the world" creates space for growth• Visualization is a powerful tool for success as "the brain doesn't know the difference between fiction and reality"• The difference between confidence and arrogance lies in humility and willingness to learn from feedback• Changing how we speak about ourselves (e.g., "professional" vs "aspiring") shapes our identity and outcomes• Dr. Bramante's book "Rise Above the Script" and hypnosis audio collection offer affordable tools for overcoming mental barriersCheck out Dr. Albert Bramante's book "Rise Above the Script: Confronting Self-Doubt, Mastering Self-Sabotage for Performing Artists" on Amazon, and visit albertbramante.com for his extensive collection of affordable hypnosis audios targeting various issues from imposter syndrome to addiction.Follow Alberta Bramante atHis websitehttps://albertbramante.com/LinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/albertbramante/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/dralbramanteSupport the showFollow your host atYouTube and Rumble for video contenthttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUxk1oJBVw-IAZTqChH70aghttps://rumble.com/c/c-4236474Facebook to receive updateshttps://www.facebook.com/EliasEllusion/Twitter (yes, I refuse to call it X)https://x.com/politicallyht LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/eliasmarty/

Send us a textAlbert Bramante brings a rare combination of talents to his work as a talent agent - over two decades of industry experience plus advanced credentials in psychology, hypnosis, and NLP. This unique perspective has made him an "architect of careers" who understands both the practical and psychological challenges performers face.Albert's journey began unexpectedly. Though originally destined for academic psychology, a brief acting stint revealed his true passion lay behind the scenes. Working at film festivals and in casting eventually led him to talent representation, where he discovered his gift for guiding artists through the psychological minefields of creative careers. His book "Rise Above the Script: Confronting Self-Doubt, Mastering Self-Sabotage for Performing Artists" distills this wisdom into actionable strategies. Albert shares several powerful techniques during our conversation, including creating a physical "happy file" to document wins and positive feedback - a tangible resource for combating self-doubt when it inevitably strikes. He emphasizes surrounding yourself with driven peers who elevate your performance rather than those who drain your energy.Perhaps most transformative is Albert's reframing of failure. Drawing from NLP principles, he teaches that "there's no such thing as failure, only feedback." For artists facing constant rejection, this perspective shift from "no" to "not today" or "not yet" fosters resilience and continuous improvement. He explores how understanding your personality traits - particularly conscientiousness - can predict and enhance your likelihood of success.Whether you're a performer battling imposter syndrome, a creative struggling with self-sabotage, or anyone seeking to build healthier self-esteem, Albert's insights offer a roadmap to psychological freedom. His daily affirmations - "I deserve to be here" and "Every day and every way, I am getting better and better" - provide a simple but powerful foundation for transforming your mindset.Ready to rise above your limiting scripts? Visit albertbramante.com to explore Albert's hypnosis recordings, follow him on social media for updates on his upcoming group coaching program, and discover how psychology can become your secret weapon for creative success.Want to be a guest on Living the Dream with Curveball? In this week's episode I sat down with Kayla Hamilton. Kayla is a Texas-born, Bronx based performance maker, dancer, educator, and consultant. She is a Bessie Award-winning dancer and her performance, choreographic and disability arts work has been presented by institutions across New York City and the U.S. In July of 2024 she announced the creation of Circle O, a new cultural organization established by and for Black Disabled and other multiply marginalized creatives. We discuss her journey to becoming a dancer, creating space in places where disability is often not welcome, the stories that can be told and the voices that can be heard through the art of movement and much, much more.
