Thanks to her precious little ones, Aurie hasn't slept in years. So that is the focus of this episode. Aurie and Marci chat about why kids won't go to sleep (even though they desperately need it), sleep tips that work on some kids and not on others, and share a foul-mouthed (but on the money) look at what really goes through sleep deprived parents' minds. And because they like rabbit trails, they also cover the new sport of stair luging and favorite Netflix binges. Promised link---->You can determine if you are a Jennifer Garner parent or a Samuel L. What's the number one question people ask homeschool moms? "What about socialization?" First off, if you want to start a fight with a homeschool mom, ask her that question. We usually get that question while we are out and about and the kids are either playing with friends or chatting with the docent at the zoo that they've just met about the unique markings on the zebra that identify them like our fingerprints. That has led us to our question to people. "Do you even know what socialization means?" We realize there are socially awkward homeschoolers. We, also, realize there are socially awkward kids in traditional schools. Homeschoolers have not cornered the market on weird kids. Join us as we talk about what socialization is and isn't and why we would rather you ask us about why we chose to homeschool, what we are learning, or how comfortable our kids are with people of all ages.
We didn't even want to do this podcast. I mean, bring up modesty and people think you are wearing a prairie skirt and a turtleneck and forcing your daughters to do the same. That's not us. But if that's you, that's fine. This isn't a bashing or a preaching podcast. It's all about why we think teaching modesty is important, but how we each have our own ideas about what that looks like. Modesty is going to look different for every family - and that's ok. Listen in and you'll get what I'm talking about.
It seems there are two camps when it comes to kids and chores. Those who are all for kids doing chores and those who are against it. Instead, Aurie and Marci discuss chores vs. responsibilities, age appropriate tasks, and teaching life skills so kids can survive on their own when they reach adulthood. What about you? What camp are you in? Do your kids do jobs around the house? What are they responsible for? Do your kids not do chores? Why?
