If you've ever felt stretched too thin, this episode is for you. In Part 1 of my series, 12 Things I've Learned About Homeschool Moms, I share the first six insights I've gathered over my years as a homeschool mom, coach, and guide for women just like you. These self-care tips for overwhelmed homeschool moms aren't rules or prescriptions—they're real-life reflections from someone who's walked this path, experienced the overwhelm, and learned how to reclaim herself without abandoning her homeschool dreams. Join the 12-Day Self-Care Challenge for Homeschool Moms What You'll Learn: Self-Care Tips for Overwhelmed Homeschool Moms Every homeschool mom faces invisible challenges, even when things look “perfect” from the outside. In this episode, I dive into the first six things I've learned about the homeschool mom experience: You feel like you never get a moment to yourself – The constant “on” mode can leave you disconnected from your own body and needs. No one sees everything you do – From teaching to caregiving to emotional labor, the invisible load is real. You say yes because it feels easier than dealing with disappointment – Learning to say no is a radical act of self-care. You're emotionally depleted – The overwhelm is rarely about homeschooling itself—it's about carrying too much without space to reset. You feel guilty resting – Rest isn't optional; it's essential for your health, your energy, and your presence in your family. You don't even know who you are anymore outside motherhood – Reconnecting with yourself is foundational to leading a confident, aligned homeschool life. Every one of these six things isn't a sign that you're doing homeschooling wrong—they're signs that you're human and have been carrying more than anyone was meant to carry alone. Why These Self-Care Tips for Overwhelmed Homeschool Moms Matter If any part of this episode made you exhale or think, “oh… that's me,” consider this your gentle invitation to start tending to yourself with the same care you offer everyone else in your home. Emotional overfunctioning and people-pleasing can follow you into homeschooling, and slowly, you lose not just your energy, but your sense of self. Reclaiming yourself isn't selfish—it's foundational. Your kids feel safest when you feel safe. Join the 12-Day Homeschool Mom Self-Care Challenge This is exactly why I created the 12-Day Homeschool Mom Self-Care Challenge. It's not another checklist or performance-based challenge. Instead, it's twelve small, doable shifts designed to help you come back to yourself with compassion, not pressure. Daily Letters – Thoughtful reflections to help you see your needs clearly. Gentle Reflection Prompts – Uncover the stories you've been carrying. Tiny, Doable Practices – Small actions to create real emotional space. As one mom said: “Your work has ripple effects because you're nurturing the nurturers.” You deserve that same nurture too. Click here to join the 12-Day Self-Care Challenge and start making your own 1% shifts away from overwhelm and toward a homeschool life that feels good from the inside out. What's Next for Overwhelmed Homeschool Moms Next week, we'll continue with Part 2 of this series, where I share six more things I've learned about homeschool moms. They go even deeper, and I think you'll feel just as held, understood, and equipped to make your homeschool life feel lighter and more aligned. Until then, take one moment today just for you—not because it's earned, but because you need it and you deserve it. Join the 12-Day Self-Care Challenge for Homeschool Moms To the Woman Reading This… If any part of this resonates — if you recognize your own patterns of over-functioning, self-forgetting, or carrying too much — please know you don't have to walk this alone. Maybe safety felt conditional, or you learned to earn love by meeting everyone else's needs.Or maybe you're carrying grief or stories that were never yours to carry. I've walked this path too — from losing myself to returning to myself. If you're ready to step into who you truly are, I'd be honoured to walk beside you. ➤ Learn more about coaching with Teresa here. Episode Description:What if one vulnerable conversation could completely transform your marriage? Dan Purcell, marriage intimacy coach and creator of the Intimately Us app, shares the pivotal moment when a friend's honesty about his sex life turned Dan's world upside down—and ultimately changed the trajectory of his marriage and career. In this raw and honest conversation, Dan opens up about growing up in a conservative environment where sex was taboo, the anxiety that carried into his marriage, and the courage it took to have a five-hour vulnerable conversation with his wife at 9 PM that didn't end until 2 AM. What emerged wasn't just better sex—it was better communication, better parenting, and a completely different level of connection.Glenn and Phyllis explore with Dan the common barriers that keep couples from experiencing rich intimacy, the danger of viewing yourself as superior to your spouse, and why solving sexual problems requires "second-order change"—not just redecorating the kitchen, but remodeling it entirely.Key Topics:- Mental health and emotional vulnerability in marriage- Breaking through sexual shame and conservative upbringings- The courage required for authentic conversations about intimacy- Desire discrepancy and what really causes it- How superiority thinking destroys sexual connection- Moving from transactional to transformational intimacy- The power of one vulnerable conversation to change everything- Creating play and creativity in your sex life- Leadership development through emotional honestyWhat You'll Learn:- Why most couples miss on authentic connection (even when they think they're doing fine)- How to have the scary conversation that could transform your marriage- The real reason behind sexual desire discrepancy (hint: it's not about being too busy)- Why solution-oriented approaches often backfire in intimacy- How to move from wearing masks to true vulnerability with your spouse- Practical tools and games to bring playfulness back to foreplayAbout Our Guest: Dan Purcell is a marriage intimacy coach who helps couples create deeper sexual and emotional connection. After a career-changing conversation eight years ago, he developed the Intimately Us app and now coaches couples full-time, helping them experience breakthrough moments in their marriages.Get your free resources: getyourmarriageon.com/connection-codes - 100 Creative Ways to Initiate Sex guide - 101 Ways to Have Sex guide - Jump Start Guide (books, articles, podcasts, frameworks)Get Your Free Core Emotion Wheel: www.connectioncodes.co/podcastReady to Transform Your Marriage? Join Me for the 12-Day Homeschool Mom Self-Care Challenge A homeschool mom self-care challenge that honours you. Homeschool mama, I see you. December is here, and it feels like an avalanche of ALL the things.Every month as a homeschool mom is full, but December? It's a whole new level. You're trying to finish things up, or you’re moving into a unit study on Christmas, you’re purchasing, prepping, planning, and playing—and you just added a part time-job to your full-time job. But as a homeschool mama, when December rolls around, mama ain’t looking after herself, she’s looking, after ALL the things. And though ALL the things are a whole lot of things EVERY other month, December’s ALL the things is an exponential set of things. Though you’re trying to do all the things, fulfill the expectations, and make it magical for your kids, you can’t do a little bit more if you didn’t already incorporate an approach to maintain margins and pursue purposeful living. That's why I'm inviting you to join me for the 12-Day Self-Care Challenge for Homeschool Moms. This isn't another TO DO list. It's a TO GIVE list—a way to give back to yourself. Join the 12 Day Self-Care Challenge Why Self-Care Matters As homeschool moms, we have a unique calling. We're deeply present with our kids, invested in their well-being, and working hard to create meaningful memories and learning experiences. We savor moments of: Watching our kids harmoniously play together (sometimes). Cheering them on as they tackle new challenges. Seeing their excitement as they pursue new interests. Building lifelong memories as a family. But there's another side to this season: The constant stream of emotions (theirs and ours). Sibling squabbles. Complaints and meltdowns. And, of course, the never-ending mundane tasks—laundry, dishes, meals, and errands. Even when we handle these challenges with grace, the emotional and mental investment is enormous. Add the holidays to the mix, and it's no wonder we feel stretched thin. The Secret Ingredient to a (more) Peaceful Holiday Season Here's the thing: you matter too. Your well-being is not just an afterthought—it's the foundation of a happy family life and a peaceful holiday season. Self-care: Refills your energy so you can approach the holidays with calm and joy. Models healthy balance and boundaries for your children. Helps you manage stress and let go of perfection. Strengthens your emotional resilience to handle challenges with patience and grace. Creates space for joy and presence, helping you savor the small, magical moments. When you care for yourself, you're giving your family the best gift of all—a peaceful, grounded, and joyful mama. What You'll Get in the 12-Day Challenge In just fifteen minutes a day—maybe even five—you'll explore simple, practical self-care strategies that fit into your busy December. These strategies aren't just for the holidays; they're tools to carry into the new year, helping you nurture yourself and your family with greater ease and satisfaction. By the end of these 12 days, you'll feel: More energized. More connected to yourself. And more at peace as you move through this beautiful, busy season. And so we must take care of ourselves. Join the 12 Days of Homeschool Mom Self-Care Challenge Join Me—You Deserve This So, homeschool mama, this is your invitation to take a breath, step back, and remember that you are worth nurturing. Let's do this together. This December, give yourself the gift of care, calm, and connection. Send us a textLoyalty doesn't happen at the invoice; it happens in the simple, human moments after the job. We break down a practical gratitude playbook for home service brands—HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and beyond—so you can turn happy customers into repeat buyers and vocal fans. The strategy is delightfully simple: make it personal, make it useful, and make it consistent. We start with the smallest levers that deliver outsized returns: handwritten-style notes after big installs, quick follow-up calls that ask for nothing, and fridge-worthy mailers like school calendars, grilling temps, or Wi‑Fi password magnets. Then we layer in low-cost, high-touch ideas your techs can run daily—branded leave-behind treats, neighborhood holiday drop-offs, and surprise ornaments tied to local mascots or counties. Each touchpoint is designed to feel like a favor, not a pitch. From there, we explore scalable digital gestures and community-first moves. Think curated Spotify playlists for seasonal vibes, “Customer of the Month” spotlights that create social proof, and donated service calls for neighbors in need or local nonprofits. We show how to partner with nearby businesses for gift-card thank yous and referral swaps, and how to elevate maintenance memberships with real perks—free filters, early scheduling, and limited-time discounts on IAQ, duct sealing, or dryer vent cleaning. To close the loop, we outline a review program that welcomes honest feedback and fuels user-generated content, giving you a steady stream of stories that beat paid clicks on both trust and ROI.If you're ready to build a gratitude system your CSR team can own and your community can feel, this guide gives you the steps, scripts, and ideas to start today. In this episode, we open up about the creative strategies we've discovered as female real estate investors to secure capital when traditional funding feels out of reach. We share our experiences with tapping into equity, refinancing, and leveraging our networks, along with creative financing options like seller financing and partnerships. Throughout our journey, we've learned the importance of community, due diligence, and strategic planning. We've found that accessing our own equity through refinancing or HELOCs and building strong networks has been key to uncovering creative financing options. Understanding return on equity (ROE) has helped us evaluate property performance, and partnerships have provided us with capital, though they require careful due diligence.Raising private money and exploring creative financing methods like seller financing have been game-changers for us, bridging funding gaps when needed. We've realized that community support is invaluable for sharing resources and advice, and regularly reviewing our portfolio's equity is crucial for strategic planning. These approaches have empowered us to make informed decisions and grow our investments with confidence. A reviewer gets thousands of books a month—so why did one plain-looking title jump to the top of the pile? The packaging signaled a story worth opening. We break down the art and strategy of creative mailers and author swag that make reviewers, influencers, and readers pay attention, share photos, and prioritize your book.We start with the first impression: simple upgrades like colored bubble mailers, clever on-theme stickers, or parchment-style wraps that create instant curiosity without custom-box budgets. Then we get practical about what goes inside. You'll hear how consumables turn a pitch into a memorable experience, and why handwritten notes still win in a digital age.Not everyone wants print, and that's okay. We share a hybrid approach, too. We also profile three investment tiers: Budget ideas, mid-range boosters, and deluxe - when you really want to get creative! Beyond the book, we show how to reflect your author identity and causes you care about so your package feels human, not corporate. You'll walk away with a sourcing list (printers, Etsy makers), a QR strategy that routes to a clean landing page with buy links and bonus content, and a checklist to keep shipping costs low and breakage near zero. Cutting your budget doesn't have to mean cutting joy out of your life. With a bit of creativity and intention, you can save money while still enjoying what truly matters. Here's how to bring more purpose—and even fun—into your spending plan. Before diving into practical steps, begin with prayer. Ask God to help you cultivate contentment, because wise spending starts with a heart that trusts Him. As Paul reminds us in 1 Timothy 6:6, “But godliness with contentment is great gain.” Budgeting isn't just about numbers; it's about aligning your heart with gratitude for what God has already provided.1. Try a “Pantry Challenge” MonthCommit to eating what you already have in your fridge, freezer, and pantry for an entire month. You'll reduce grocery spending and uncover forgotten items—maybe even a few surprises. Free apps like SuperCook or Cooklist can help you find creative recipes using your existing ingredients, turning the challenge into a fun family adventure.2. Create a Family Fun FundEntertainment doesn't have to be expensive. Set a monthly cap for fun activities and get the whole family involved in choosing them. One week could be a hike and picnic at the park; another, a cozy movie night at home with popcorn and dollar-store candy. This approach teaches that joy isn't tied to a price tag.3. Swap Babysitting with Another FamilyChildcare can be costly, but community is a gift. Partner with another family you trust to take turns watching each other's kids. One week, you get a date night, the next they do—and no one spends a dime. You'll save money, build relationships, and create margin in your budget.4. Take On One Service YourselfPick one recurring expense and try handling it yourself for a season—such as washing the car, mowing the lawn, or grooming the dog. You may save more than you expect and even gain a new skill or appreciation for the task.5. Declare a Monthly “No-Spend” WeekendChoose one weekend a month to spend nothing beyond the essentials. Use the time to rest, reconnect, and enjoy free or low-cost activities, such as playing board games, going for a hike, or visiting the library. Turn it into a family challenge by deciding together how to use the extra savings for giving, saving, or a future treat.6. Practice the 30-Day RuleWhen tempted by a big purchase—like a gadget or appliance—write it down with the date and wait 30 days. If you still want it and it fits the budget after a month, you can move forward with confidence. More often than not, the urge will pass, and you'll keep your money where it belongs.None of these ideas is earth-shattering—and that's the beauty of them. Real transformation often comes from small, consistent decisions: choosing contentment over consumption, planning over impulse. Each intentional step strengthens your financial stewardship and, even more importantly, your trust in God.When your kids see you making wise choices, they learn the importance of being a good steward. When your spouse feels included, it builds unity. Would you call yourself a creative person? Is your mind constantly firing in creative ways, such as music, art, poetry, etc? How about the opposite end of the spectrum...are you immensely proud if you can draw a straight line, or feel that you don't have a creative bone in your body? The fact is that we were all created in God's image, and He is the creator of the universe. As homeschoolers, we have the unique opportunity to really take the time to make writing enjoyable and fun. I know most college assignments will be the 5 paragraph essay, so that is important to know. Or you can just wing it if you decide to do dual enrollment in high school. But once your kids understand the structure of the 5 paragraph essay, and they will understand it quickly, then you can move onto fun things, like writing a book. Let's take a moment to be honest with each other, the 5 paragraph essay is boring. Yes, I get it. If you want to do well in college, then you need to know how to write a 5 paragraph essay, but it doesn't inspire creativity. Even though it is an important skill to have that doesn't mean you need to keep teaching it year after year. Let's inspire creative thinking, break free from the heavily structured essays, and embrace the flexibility and creativity that homeschool offers.
