Part A: 20 Minutes A Day In The Word Part B: Something To Chew On
Start your day with 20 minutes in the Word—and carry God's wisdom with you into every decision.Today, we enter the book of Proverbs—a practical guide for walking in wisdom, discernment, and godly character. These first chapters remind us that wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord, and it's something we must pursue daily.
Solomon could have asked for wealth or power—but he asked for wisdom. Today's reading is a reminder that when we seek God's heart over our own desires, He honors it.“Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people…” – 2 Chronicles 1:10Let this reading shape the way you seek today—go after God's will, not just your wants.
Solomon asked for wisdom—not for power or wealth—but for a discerning heart to lead well. And God was pleased. These chapters show us: true wisdom starts with humility and a desire to walk with God.What are you asking God for today?Let Solomon's story lead you to pray boldly—and depend deeply.
Psalm 119 isn't just the longest chapter in the Bible—it's one long prayer of love for God's Word.Line by line, it teaches us to anchor our lives in His truth. When life is unclear—His Word brings clarity. When your soul is weary—His Word revives. When you're tempted to wander—His Word roots you again.Let this psalm shape how you live, think, and walk today.
What do you do when justice feels slow and the road is long?David's final days, Solomon's rise, and the Psalms today all echo one truth:God sees. God sustains. God will act.You don't have to carry the weight of fixing everything. You just have to walk faithfully and leave the outcome in His hands.
These psalms are a chorus of praise that echoes through generations. From mighty acts to quiet mercy, they remind us:His mercy endures forever.Let that truth guide you today. In your work, your worship, your waiting—His love hasn't run out.
David longed to build the temple—but God said no.Still, he didn't pout—he prepared. He gathered materials, blessed leaders, and charged Solomon to stay faithful.“Be strong and courageous, and do the work… for the Lord God is with you.” (1 Chron. 28:20)And Psalm 127 reminds us of the bigger truth:“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.”This is a day to release control, take your place, and trust the Builder.
David's psalms today are rich with trust and awe:“I have calmed and quieted my soul…” (Psalm 131:2)“Search me, O God, and know my heart…” (Psalm 139:23)“The Lord is near to all who call on Him…” (Psalm 145:18)Even when we don't have clarity, we're invited into confidence—because we're known. Seen. Loved.God hems us in, before and behind. That's where peace comes from.
At first glance, these chapters look like ancient spreadsheets. But look closer—and you'll see worship embedded into every assignment.David organized Levites, priests, and musicians with care and calling.Even the gatekeepers and those who carried supplies were assigned by name and by lot.God sees what's hidden. He honors what's consistent.Your ordinary obedience is holy ground.
David begins with praise:“Your steadfast love is higher than the heavens…” (Psalm 108:4)And ends with prophecy:“The Lord says to my Lord: Sit at My right hand…” (Psalm 110:1)These psalms point us to a King greater than David,a Priest forever,a Name exalted above every name.In battle or in worship, this is our cry:Be exalted, O God. Reign forever.
David sinned. The nation suffered. But God didn't leave him there. On the threshing floor of brokenness, David offered a costly sacrifice.“I will not offer to the Lord that which costs me nothing.” (2 Samuel 24:24)Psalm 30 echoes with restored joy:“Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”This is a day to remember: God's mercy meets us in the mess.
These psalms are a call to wake up and worship:“Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.” (Psalm 95:6)“The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad!” (Psalm 97:1)They remind us that worship is more than a song. It's a posture of the heart. A surrender to the King who reigns with righteousness.
Today's reading is filled with David's declaration of God's faithfulness—both in victory and in the dark places.“He is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer…” (2 Samuel 22:2)“I take refuge in the shadow of Your wings until the disaster has passed.” (Psalm 57:1)Whether on the battlefield or hiding in a cave, David praises. That's the invitation for us too: praise in the pressure.
These psalms are a window into David's inner life—he's dealing with sin, sickness, betrayal, and emotional exhaustion. But his soul doesn't shut down. It cries out:“Why are you cast down, O my soul?... Hope in God.” (Psalm 42:5)When life feels heavy, these psalms remind us:We don't have to hide our pain—we can pour it out.
David is returning to the throne—but his heart is still in pieces. He's mourning a lost son, facing broken loyalties, and settling unfinished business from Saul's past.“Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king?” (2 Sam. 19:26)This is a story of grief and leadership, of being called to move forward while still hurting. It's a reminder that God's work in us often happens in the tension—not after it.
David's prayers in these psalms are raw:He's been betrayed by friends, surrounded by enemies, and overwhelmed with sorrow.“If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it… but it is you, a man like myself…” (Psalm 55:12–13)Still—David doesn't spiral. He surrenders. He says: “But I will call to God, and the Lord will save me.”These psalms show us what to do with our pain: bring it to the God who hears.
David sinned—and then tried to cover it up.But God saw it all. And in His mercy, He sent Nathan, not to destroy David, but to confront him… and restore him. This story reminds us: God doesn't confront to condemn—He confronts to redeem.Sin will always take us further than we want to go.But grace will always reach further than we think it can.
These psalms hold both praise and pain—side by side.David rejoices over God's blessing and provision… and then cries,“Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck.” (Psalm 69:1)It's a reminder that worship doesn't wait for everything to be perfect.Real praise can rise even while the storm is still raging.
When betrayal breaks out into battle, where do you place your trust? In today's reading, David's men face war—and Psalm 20 reminds us:“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”You may not be fighting an army, but every one of us is walking through spiritual battles. The question is: What are you trusting to carry you?
God doesn't need our sacrifices—He wants our surrender.Psalm 50 reminds us that true worship is not just performance, but relationship. Psalm 53 exposes the foolishness of living as if there is no God. Psalm 60 is a cry for help. And Psalm 75 declares that God alone is Judge and Deliverer.Today's reading invites us to respond—not just with words, but with our lives.Join me for 20 minutes in the Word as we reflect, receive, and root our hearts in the truth of who God is.
Day 129 | 2 Samuel 8–9; 1 Chronicles 18Today we see David at the height of strength—yet his greatest act is one of mercy. He remembers Jonathan's son Mephibosheth, a man forgotten and crippled… and invites him to the king's table. This reading is a picture of strength clothed in kindness, and a reflection of how God invites us in even when we feel unworthy.Join me for 20 minutes in the Word as we draw near, reflect deeply, and let this truth root our hearts in grace.
Welcome to Day 128 of our journey through the Bible! Today, we reflect on the Psalms, where we find a powerful expression of trust in God's guidance, His majestic power, and His unfailing love.In Psalm 25, we seek God's guidance in times of uncertainty.Psalm 29 reminds us of the glory and might of God's voice over creation.Psalm 33 calls us to trust in God's sovereignty over all things. In Psalm 36, we're reminded of the vastness of God's steadfast love and righteousness.Psalm 39 challenges us to reflect on the brevity of life and our need for God's wisdom.Join us as we meditate on God's promises and reflect on His presence throughout our day. Let these Psalms inspire deeper trust and awareness of His continual guidance and grace.
In today's reading, David brings the Ark of God to Jerusalem with rejoicing—but also deep reverence. Then, in a moment of desire to build a house for the Lord, God turns it around: “You won't build Me a house—I will build yours.”We're reminded that God's promises often look different than our plans—but they're always better.Join me for 20 minutes in the Word as we reflect, listen, and draw near.
Today's readings remind us that even when we can't feel Him—God is still faithful. From Psalm 89's questions to Psalm 105's remembrance, we're invited to trust the God who keeps His promises and walks with us through every season. Each day, I spend 20 minutes in the Word to help you build a rhythm of presence—not just performance.Let's draw near, reflect deeply, and live today rooted in Him.
