Professor at Wurzweiler School of Social Work, Rev. Dr. Frederick J. (Jerry) Streets understands the importance of and the complex role religious beliefs and practices play in our efforts to understand different cultures and international relationships and diplomacy. He served as the Chaplain of Yale University and Senior Pastor of the Church of Christ in Yale from 1992-2007 where he established a model for how institutions of higher education can address and establish policies regarding multi-faith issues from global perspectives in the wider life of the university and community. Throughout his career he has fostered programs promoting dialogue between Christian, Jews and Muslims and other religious communities. In honor of Yale's tercentennial, Yale University Press published his (2005) Preaching in the New Millennium. A native of Chicago, Illinois, he has published numerous articles and book chapters addressing domestic and international concerns and is the recipient of many academic and civic awards, the most recent of which ((2011) is the Rev. John LaFarge, S.J. Award from Fairfield University in Connecticut. He is often a guest on state and national television and radio offering commentary on religion, global affairs and mental health.
C. Mark Miller MSW LCSW ABD is the director of Alumni Relations at the Wurzweiler School of Social Work - Yeshiva University – he is also a therapist at Metropolitan Center for Mental Health in Manhattan. He extensive experience in the field of social work, with many years focused on issues related to the needs of the homeless, homebound frail elderly and the GLBTQ community. Carmen Ortiz Hendricks joined Yeshiva University Wurzweiler School of Social Work as Associate Dean and Professor in 2005 after being on the faculty of Hunter College School of Social Work of the City University of New York since 1980. A graduate of Wurzweiler’s doctoral program, she currently teaches doctoral courses in Social Work Education and Social Work Administration. Dr. Hendricks is the lead author with Jeanne Finch and Cheryl Franks of Learning to Teach—Teaching to Learn: A Guide to Social Work Field Education by the Council on Social Work Press (2005) which is widely used in Seminars in Field Instruction throughout the U.S. She is co-editor of Intersecting Child Welfare, Substance Abuse and Family Violence: Culturally Competent Approaches with R. Fong, and R. McRoy (2006, Alexandria, VA: CSWE Press). She is principal investigator on the U.S. Children’s Bureau Grant entitled, Child Welfare Traineeship Project Serving Hispanic Families.
