Light energy--illuminating, transformative, a beacon, healing. Light energy is so much more than we think it is, and it is also elusive. Tower Priestesses, such as Mary Magdalene knew all about using light energy, and the different dimensions of it. Maybe listen to last week's episode first, as it's a two part series. Today we're going to talk about how light can bring out the shadows, and how to respond to that. Today I pulled a card from the deck The Starseed Oracle by Rebecca Campbell at the end. Stay tuned to hear all about the card! The card pull is for:-How to handle light in areas you don't want illuminated.-How to handle others reacting to your light.Contact me or Join my Stuff Here:Behind the Veil: Secrets of the TowerJoin the Peek Behind the Veil email list here!Experience an exclusive and private initiation into the herstory of Tower Priestesses. My dear, the word killer carries a weight that chills the marrow. But killers are never the same—some hide in plain sight, some return when least expected, and others linger like a shadow you can't escape.Tonight, we descend into five tales where death is not only a fact… but a calling.
In this deeply personal episode, Cindy shares the story of a solo trip to Houston during the early days of her burnout. There, two pieces of art—Niki de Saint Phalle's joyful Nana sculptures and a 13th-century painting of the Virgin Mary—revealed the emotional contrast between who she was and who she longed to be. This is a story about the weight of exhaustion, the mirror of grief, and the slow, sacred path back to joy.Mentioned in the episode:Niki de Saint Phalle – The NanasNiki de Saint Phalle: Rebel with a CauseMother of God (Byzantine, c. 13th century) at the Menil CollectionRothko ChapelMemoir excerpt from Art Is About Being WholePast episode: The Shark and the Book: Burnout, Subconscious Magic, and the Creative ProcessPast episode: Revealing the Door Into Our Hearts: Delighting in the Duality of Creative Existence with Yola MehmetiUpcoming Events:

As stated at numerous points in this episode, a lot of the things discussed here can be found in the documentary Goodbye Horses: The Many Lives of Q Lazzarus. We urge you to go check out that film here: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/qlazzarus as it is a brilliant piece of work. For long time pod fans, this episode could technically be classed as part of our unsong series. But the reality is that the story of Q Lazzarus is so interesting, that it simply bursts out of the constraints of that format. Q Lazzarus/Diane Luckey, is best known for the song "Goodbye Horses", a track that you've almost certainly heard at some point in your life. It's most notable use was in the Jonathan Demme classic Silence of the Lambs, but it has been used in a bunch of films since then, and covered by an array of artists. It is, in fact, that only "official" release by Q Lazzarus. She would later go on to appear in Demme's next film, the wonderful Philadelphia, singing a cover of Roxy Music's classic tune "Heaven". After that, though, she would simply vanish from the industry entirely. So what happened? Why did this seemingly promising up and coming artist, who had two huge brushes with fame, suddenly disappear without trace? Well, it's a rather complicated, and compelling, story that touches on industry discrimination, artist exploitation, and the music business's treatment of unique talents. This week we dive into that story, with the help of a remarkable documentary film called Goodbye Horses: The Many Lives of Q Lazzarus - a film that came about through an almost impossibly serendipitous encounter between filmmaker Eva Aridjis Fuentes and her mysterious subject. The documentary is available on Vimeo and you should absolutely check it out for yourself, alongside the Sacred Bones compilation of her previously unreleased works. Please note that this story deals with some heavy themes and doesn't have the resolution we might hope for, but it's an important and deeply affecting tale that deserves to be told. Do you ever feel like you're caught between believing you're either a good person or a bad person? This kind of black-and-white thinking can lead to frustration, especially when trying to change unwanted behaviors. The truth is, we all embody both positive and negative qualities—this duality is a part of being human. In this episode, I explore how embracing this dual nature is key to creating lasting change. Trying to label ourselves as entirely good or bad creates unnecessary resistance, especially when we face challenges. Instead, accepting that we're both gives us the freedom to be honest with ourselves and move forward without shame or self-pity.Get full show notes, transcript, and more information here: https://centerforovercoming.com/post/living-duality-good-bad

Who or What is Kali?According to Abhinava Gupta , Kālī is: क्षेपो ज्ञानं च संख्यां गतिनाद इति क्रमात्। कल्लनां कुर्वती काली कर्षिणीत्यभिधीयते। She who projects, She who knows, She who delimits, She who vibrates, She who is resonance and She who is process She who imagines, She who acts, She who devours (i.e reabsorbs)....this is verily Kālī In other words, Kālī is that resonant, dynamic One from Whom the world is projected outward, articulated and known and into Whom it is reabsorbed in a constant simultaneity of unfolding! But what does that mean? And what does Kālī have to do with Śakti and what is Śakti to Śiva? Is there such a thing as a Śākta (worshipper of Devī) distinct from Śaivism? In trying to approach some of these questions, we discuss one of my favorite topics: yoginīs, mātrikās & cremation ground deities! As our śrāvana festivities and practices intensify with the passing weeks, there is a rising fervor and I am feeling rather inspired to explore the cremation ground roots of our Śaiva heritage, to make a few historical points about Ati Margins and about Kāpālikās and about what they discovered, understanding it all within the wider philosophical context of Somānanda's presentation of Śiva as primordial dynamic Consciousness, inseparable from Śakti, the pentadof powers! (cit, ānanda, icchā, jñāna, kriyā etc.) This union of Śiva + Powers (i.e puissance or latency or agency or dyanmism) is what we call Kālī and this is what I hope to explore with you a little bit today in class!According to Shiti Kanttha in Mahānāya Prakāśa: एवं आधौ एव शक्तिः स्पन्दनशीला बहिर्विषयोन्मुखी व्यापिनीभावेन सृष्ट्युपदेशभाजनम्...। एकैव चिन्नीलाधवाभासरूपा अस्थिरहठगवती कुलैव पश्चात्प्रतिसंहतस्वभावा अग्राग्रागमिप्रसरत्सहजरूपा लक्ष्यते, सोऽयं निरुपाधौ चित्स्फायादुपाधिकृतो भेदः। Verily is She is the Primordial Pulsation, inclined towards externality, the all-pervasive receptacle of emission and wisdom. She alone is the Pure Awareness in which shines experiences like the colour blue etc. Dyanmic and forcefully flowing into externality, She is verily "Kula" (the embodied universe) and yet afterwards, she withdraws it back into her nature. Her spotaneous nature is found at the very edge of arising experience. Duality arises in Her when there are limiting adjuncts but in truth She shines non-differently!Shiva = Kali, as in Shiti Kanttha:शिवस्वभावैव शक्तिः न वस्त्वन्तरम्,इत्येकम् एव शिवव्यपदेश्यं शक्तिव्यपदेश्यं च वस्तुतत्त्वं नापूर्वं किञ्चित्। The essential nature of Shiva is Shakti; they are is no seperate reality! That which is called "Shiva" and that which is called "Shakti" is the same thing! And this essential reality is wholly ordinary and not something bizzare! Using real-world hypotheticals and caller questions, they explore the slippery slope of school policies around gender pronouns and medical interventions without parental consent. They question the medical community's evolving role in gender-affirming care and share personal anecdotes about identity, expression, and societal pressure.Far from taking extreme stances, both David and Spirited Journey advocate for nuance, mental health support, and the importance of family involvement, while acknowledging the complexities of modern identity politics.00:00–02:00 – Duality and family dynamicsHow excluding family from a child's identity journey may cause long-term issues.Importance of addressing home-school identity gaps.02:00–05:30 – Slippery slope or fair concern? Can secrecy around pronouns lead to secret hormone therapies?Examining parental exclusion and government overreach.05:30–08:00 – Medical decisions and irreversible consequencesPuberty blockers, sterility, and lack of long-term studies.Birth control as a parallel example.08:00–11:00 – Equality vs ideologyAffirmation therapy vs. conversion therapy.Clarifying the pro-human rights stance of both host and guest.11:00–14:30 – Thought-provoking hypotheticalsInterracial dating and parental bias.Should schools intervene or stay neutral?14:30–18:00 – Government boundaries & school responsibilityFunding, school psychologist access, and liability concerns.Case studies: doctors “playing God” with child identity.18:00–21:00 – Identity confusion or natural variation?Spirited Journey shares a tomboy childhood perspective.Encouraging diverse expressions within binary identities.21:00–24:00 – Stereotypes and gender spectrum discussionWhy labels may do more harm than good.“There are many ways to be a woman or a man.”24:00–29:00 – Racism, parenting, and ideological overreachExploring the fine line between protection and indoctrination. Why neutrality and parental involvement are key.Thank you for tuning in!If you are digging what I am doing, and picking up what I'm putting down, please follow, subscribe, and share the podcast on social media and with friends. Alongside the responsibility of holding people accountable and calling out what they see as unjust, I think that there's also an element of hope with artists, even when we're maybe a little bit melancholic, or even when we're in heavier periods in our lives, the act of creating denotes hope, because why would you create something if you didn't believe that it was going to lead to something? Why would you put energy into something if you didn't hope that it would nurture either a change or a feeling of belonging or something that'll bring people together and that will create a sense of community? My conversation with Emily Marie Séguin, a Franco-Ontarian 2-spirited performer, musician, theatre creator and visual artist of settlers and Anishinabe descent who creates work to recognize those who walked before her, and to support those who will after her. I wanted to speak to Emily because she is member of Éclore, a collective that builds bridges between artistic, environmental and activist communities, bringing people together and building hope for a fairer, more sustainable future. I had already spoken with Léa Vandycke, about Éclore, in episode 164 of balado conscient, and so Emily is about to tell us, in English, the story of Éclore from her point but she will also talk about her own work and vision as an indigenous artist, such as her G'zaagiin maleńki – I promise you a forestproject. I also had a French language conversation with Emily, see balado conscient épisode 168.Show notes generated by Whisper Transcribe AIAction pointsDiscover the mission of Éclore and how it fosters collaboration between artists, scientists, and activists.Explore the role of art in advocating for social causes, environmental protection, and Indigenous sovereignty.Learn about Emily's project, G'zaagiin maleńki – je te promets une forêt and its goal of connecting young people with the sounds and importance of nature.Understand the significance of Indigenous voices in land-based solutions for a just and sustainable world.Gain actionable steps for artists and cultural workers to engage in advocacy and support grassroots movements.Story PreviewImagine a world where art, environmentalism, and activism intertwine, creating a tapestry of hope for a sustainable future. Inspired by the vision of Éclore's founders, she joined the collective to help build a community that serves as a resource for artists and fosters conversations across diverse disciplines, all united by a common goal of protecting the land and promoting sovereignty. *END NOTES FOR ALL EPISODESHey conscient listeners, I've been producing the conscient podcast as a learning and unlearning journey since May 2020 on un-ceded Anishinaabe Algonquin territory (Ottawa). Episode 95: Sinners This week on Philosophy in Film, the gang steps into the blood-soaked confessional of Ryan Coogler's 2025 thriller, Sinners. Nestled in the indie-crime-vampire-redemption-gangster genre, the film follows Eli Morgan, a disgraced pastor-turned-defense attorney, as he's pulled into the moral murk of faith, failure, and a client who might not be entirely human. Craig hacks away at Producer's Notes (9:37) with only slight collateral damage, while Alain cracks open the Book of Beauclair (21:04) to lay out Eli's twilight descent. Chris then lights a candle for Philosopher's Corner (47:20), tuning into the film's musical language, where brooding jazz and sacred overtones echo themes of guilt, redemption, and longing. At the Round Table (53:10), the gang debates whether Sinners bites into something meaningful or just bares its fangs, before Reviews (1:43:22) and Mailbag (1:55:35) offer closing testimony from the congregation. As always, we reflect on the philosophical and non-philosophical burdens carried through the film's long dark night, because even the damned listen close.

Every NFL season includes multiple instances of teams surprising us on the positive side of the ledger (hello 2024 Broncos and 2023 Texans) and the negative side (oh, hi 2022 Buccaneers and 2020 Eagles). Are there any threads those teams share? Any traits that repeat themselves year after year that can help inform how we're looking at the 2025 season? In this week's episode of The Perceptive Photographer, I take some time to reflect on the people who shape us, the dual nature of photography, and the internal compass that guides our creative work. Episode 537 feels especially personal as I honor my mentor, Seth Thompson, and revisit the big questions that keep me engaged behind the camera. Seth isn't just someone who taught me how to see color—he teaches me how to think about it, how to push beyond the surface of an image, how to chase deeper meaning. Even now, his influence runs through everything I do. Mentorship, I realize, isn't just about gaining skills—it's about learning how to see and how to be as an artist. And at some point, it becomes our turn to pay it forward. I also talk about the duality of photography—how every image straddles the line between nonfiction and fiction. Yes, we capture real moments, but we also make choices that shape those moments: framing, color, tonality, sequencing. Black and white often abstracts; color anchors. What matters is recognizing what story we're telling—and why. This episode also circles around clarity—specifically, getting clear on the core themes in your work. I share a simple exercise I use to uncover those recurring threads—words or ideas that quietly (or loudly) show up again and again in the images I make. Knowing what drives you creatively doesn't limit you—it gives you direction when you need it most. There are a few exciting things on the horizon too. The Unseen Mystery Show opens July 8 at Image City Photography Gallery in Rochester, NY, featuring work from my meaningful image workshop group. I'm currently teaching a workshop in the Palouse, and 2026 dates are now set. Plus, I'm kicking off a new In Conversation series—bonus podcast episodes with fellow photographers about process, practice, and perspective. At the end of the episode, I touch on something I'll explore more soon: the question of audience. Who do we make our work for, and how does that shape what we create? It's not a simple answer, but it's one worth wrestling with. As always, thanks for listening—and for being part of this community. I hope this episode gives you something to think about as you continue making, reflecting, and growing in your own work. —Daniel

In this episode, I talk about the idea that we can hold two seemingly opposite truths at the same time - and how that can actually be where our real growth and success as entrepreneurs live. I'm so glad you're here for another mindset-focused episode of Eat Blog Talk. Today, I'm diving into a topic that's been heavy on my heart lately—duality in entrepreneurship. As entrepreneurs, we often think we have to fix our flaws before we can feel successful, but what if it's actually about holding space for both our strengths and imperfections? I'm sharing a story from the Flavor Media Summit that beautifully illustrates how powerful it can be to embrace the “both/and” in ourselves. Action Plan: 1 - Acknowledge duality in your journey: Notice when you're feeling two things at once and give both feelings permission to exist. 2 - Resist the urge to fix yourself first: You don't need to wait until you're fearless or confident to move forward—just start. 3 - Stay present in your imperfections: True success comes from showing up, even when things feel messy or imperfect. 4 - Honor your contradictions: You can be both proud and nervous, grateful and overwhelmed—this is normal and powerful. 5 - Practice naming the dualities: Say them out loud or journal them—“I am both X and Y”—to build resilience and self-compassion. In this episode of 'Ayana Explains It All,' Ayana Fakhir delves into the concept of Black Fatigue, a term introduced by Mary Frances-Winters in her book, "Black Fatigue" which refers to the chronic physical and emotional exhaustion faced by Black Americans due to repeated exposure to racism. Ayana elaborates on how this fatigue is passed down through generations, exacerbated by systemic racism and daily microaggressions. She discusses the social media uproar about a burnt plantation home, using it as a case study to highlight ongoing racial injustices. Ayana emphasizes the need for systemic change, the importance of recognizing the true meaning of Black Fatigue, and the critical role of Black resilience and activism in fighting against white supremacy. Tune in to understand the profound impacts of racism on Black individuals and communities.

I'm excited to welcome back Oliver Wood of The Wood Brothers as he makes his return to Roadcase for this week's episode. Oliver is an extraordinary artist with killer guitar chops and a mellow and intentional vibe that, dare I say, exudes Zen-like qualities. We talk about his life in music, songwriting, and that elusive goal of being and staying “in the moment.” Improv is a big part of Oliver's art, both in the studio and in a live performance setting, and staying grounded and open to possibilities is at the heart of it. He claims that “the best art happens by accident,” and he talks to me about how that mindset drives his creative direction. The Wood Brothers have a new album coming out August 1, Puff of Smoke, and are touring all over the country through the summer. Oliver's second solo album, Fat Cat Silhouette, is out there now for your listening pleasure — it's a phenomenal work of musical art. For us as human beings, the question is not why or how. The Buddha didn't actually answer those questions. He said those are questions that don't tend to have understanding. He said, what I'm interested in is how to navigate the universe as it is, in a way that brings love, well-being, and freedom to all who want to awaken to this.” – Jack Kornfield See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
This week, Jason is joined by fan favorite from season three of Farmer Wants a Wife, the one and only John Sansone! John isn't just the guy who brought heart, honesty, and a little southern charm to the show, he is also part of a proud legacy, helping his family's fifth generation farm, a place that's been in his family for decades. On top of that, he is also currently a graduate law student looking to dip his toes in the world of law & order. From early mornings in the fields to late night fireside chats on national television, John gave us a glimpse into what it means to balance love, land, and legacy. In this episode, John opens up about his mindset going into Farmer Wants a Wife, the surreal bubble of reality TV dating, and the career opportunities he was weighing before signing on. He shares the slow-burn story of his relationship with Claire, his candid thoughts on prenups, and what really went down during casting. John also weighs in on the Samantha situation, talks about his professional goals, and gives us a behind-the-scenes look at brand deals—including how ChatGPT led him astray on one. From growing up in a farming family to being courted by other reality shows (and why he said no), John gets real about his path, his plans for the future, and where he currently stands as a law student. Plus, don't miss a rapid-fire round to close things out. John reveals all this and so much more in another episode you can't afford to miss! On this episode of the Scouting For Growth podcast, Sabine VdL talks to Alon Kaufman, CEO and Co-Founder of Duality Technologies, a company that is revolutionising the way organisations collaborate on data while preserving privacy and security. During today’s conversation, we’ll explore the vision behind Duality Technologies, the real-world problems it is solving, and how organisations can future-proof themselves against risks by adopting privacy-preserving technologies. We’ll also dive into Alon’s inspiring journey as a technology leader and his perspective on the ethical and strategic aspects of data collaboration in the age of AI and Big Data. KEY TAKEAWAYS Combining and enhancing data sets is becoming more and more challenging in a world where privacy, security, regulations and data protection are becoming more critical. This is a good thing. What inspires us at Duality is to find a way to allow organisations to unlock the challenges around working together on data in a way that both protects the data and allows you to get the utility out of it. At the source of Duality is: How can we work on data sets without leaking or sharing the data. That’s where homomorphic encryption comes in. This allows us to work on and analyse data while it remains protected or encrypted. Two companies each have a list of customers and they both want to understand how many customers they have in intersection. The way you did this before is for company A to disclose it’s list of customers to company B which does the analysis and fins the intersection or go to a trusted third party. With duality, the two companies can use our software platform to run a computation that comes up with the intersection without either company seeing each other’s data. We all want our governments and law enforcement to be able to do their work, but we don’t want them to pull in every data point that we leave outside. Duality allows law enforcement investigations to run queries and analytics only on data that is allowed and only giving the insights that are needed. Government and healthcare – where data sets are large an sensitive – are big places where Duality has been successful. BEST MOMENTS ‘In order to get the most value out of data, the more you can bring data sets together and enhance them the better off you are.’ ‘Duality’s mission is to run AI data science analytics on data sets that cannot simply be centralised, and doing it where ethe data is while making sure the data isn’t exposed, privacy isn’t leaked or challenges of data localisation and regulation are not violated.’ ‘Companies that already know to work on their own data, and control it, can now go to the next step and do it in a collaborative way.’ ‘Insurance companies need to work together around fraud because the fraudsters utilise the fact different companies don’t talk and will attack one and then the other because they know the level of data shared between them is limited.’ ABOUT THE GUEST Alon Kaufman is the CEO and Co-Founder of Duality Technologies, a pioneering company at the forefront of data encryption and privacy technologies. With over 20 years of experience in technology leadership, Alon has a rich background that spans across Big Data, Data Science, Machine Learning, and Cybersecurity. As a thought leader, Alon frequently speaks on topics related to Big Data, Cybersecurity, and Innovation. He is committed to advancing the conversation around data privacy and security.
