Earlier in Aliza's career she served as the YU Director of Alumni Engagement, Assistant Principal at Central, Yeshiva University High School for Girls, Director of Student Life at Stern College, and as the Director of Jewish Service Learning for the University, where she built the service learning curriculum and established chessed missions around the world. Aliza is a member of the inaugural Wexner Field Fellows program through the Wexner Foundation. She has spoken worldwide in synagogues, community centers, and schools about leadership, education, faith, prayer and issues related to the contemporary Jewish family, dating, infertility, surrogacy and family, and is a sought-after consultant on surrogacy. Aliza holds a BA in Judaic Studies from Stern College, and a Master's in Social Work from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work and is now a doctoral candidate at Wurzweiler. Seven questions to remarkable people who have each trudged their own unique road toward self discovery and mastery.  Today we have Moshe Cohen, LCSW. Moshe is a social worker focused on enhancing and supporting the wellbeing of Young People. Moshe created his own school based life skills program and then for 8 years has worked with the safe foundation and project safe providing enrichment and psycho-education for high school aged students and as an addiction counselor at the Safe Foundation for 4 of those years.  Moshe has a private practice in Woodmere and Brooklyn helping adolescents and adults who are struggling with anxiety, stress, depression, self esteem, relationship issues and addiction. Moshe also enjoys speaking at a variety of yeshiva high schools across the country on topics such as addiction, social media/ technology, healthy living, self esteem, success etc.  Moshe has been coaching basketball for last 12 years with Haftr and is currently coach for the JV team at DRS High School. Dr. Danielle Wozniak, the Dorothy and David Schachne Dean of Wurzweiler School of Social Work, speaks with Dr. Katherine Mitchell and Wurzweiler students Gabrielle Mason and Michelle Bialeck about the origin and purpose of the Care Cafes. The Care Cafes, under the direction of Dr. Mitchell and with assistance from the New York City Council, offer therapeutic expertise on topics ranging from the effect of electronic devices on children to veterans suffering from PTSD at settings throughout the five boroughs. As Dr. Wozniak states it, Care Cafes “meet you where you are and take you to where you need to be.”

Carmen Ortiz Hendricks joined Yeshiva University Wurzweiler School of Social Work as Associate Dean and Professor in 2005 after being on the faculty of Hunter College School of Social Work of the City University of New York since 1980. A graduate of Wurzweiler’s doctoral program, she currently teaches doctoral courses in Social Work Education and Social Work Administration. Dr. Hendricks is the lead author with Jeanne Finch and Cheryl Franks of Learning to Teach—Teaching to Learn: A Guide to Social Work Field Education by the Council on Social Work Press (2005) which is widely used in Seminars in Field Instruction throughout the U.S. She is co-editor of Intersecting Child Welfare, Substance Abuse and Family Violence: Culturally Competent Approaches with R. Fong, and R. McRoy (2006, Alexandria, VA: CSWE Press). She is principal investigator on the U.S. Children’s Bureau Grant entitled, Child Welfare Traineeship Project Serving Hispanic Families.
