Whether you're in NYC or Paris, you've probably heard of Allison Kave or at least one of her businesses in the hospitality industry. Allison a bartender, baker, entrepreneur and an author living in Paris. Before moving here she operated a bar and bakery aptly named Butter & Scotch in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Here in Paris she co-owns Izzy's, a cocktail subscription service and Abricot Bar, her long-awaited cocktail bar in the 10th. We talk about what it's been like opening her bar post-covid, the different expectations of French clients vs. Americans and what makes Abricot so special amidst a sea of other cocktail bars in the city.Allison Kave: @allison_kaveAbricot Bar: @abricotbarIzzy's: @izzysparisAllison's Food and Drink Guide:-Des terres, 20-Red House, 11-Bluebird, 11-Boneshaker Donuts, 2-Dirty Lemon, 11-Reyna, 11Follow GOOD ACID on Instagram! @goodacidpodcast
This month we talk to Allison Kave about her seasonal approach to creating cocktails for her Paris-based delivery service Izzy's.
We head back to Orlando (AGAIN!!) for some authentic 1950s fare at ye olde Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. Email menus to youtalking2menu@gmail.com Follow us on IG @utalking2menu and, confusingly, on Twitter @youtalking2menu
So thrilled to have Allison Kave on the pod this week! Allison was the co-founder of one of my favorite Brooklyn establishments, Butter & Scotch, a feminist bar and bakery. She talks about her first career in the arts, starting her one woman operation, First Prize Pies, her passion for craft cocktails, and eventually moving into the brick and mortar world with Butter & Scotch. Allison is now pursuing her dream of living in Paris by combining her love of dessert, cocktails, and France in an innovative new delivery concept, Izzy's Paris. Thank you to Allison for sharing her path, the reality of opening her business, and her entrepreneurial hustle in her next endeavor. To connect with Allison you can find her at: https://allisonkave.com or @allison_kave on instagram Also shoutout to the lovely Sophie Erskine - if you need a fantastic art director or marketing lady who will take your brand to the next level, you can connect with Sophie at https://www.sophieerskine.com/
Here’s a trendy food concept that people are eating—and drinking —up. Cake and cocktails. And it doesn't stop there. Meet Allison Kave - Queen of baked goods and booze, Co-owner of Butter and Scotch, a hit Brooklyn eatery that’s all rage for activists and feminists alike, prize winning pie designer and maker, author of First Prize Pies and cowriter of the Butter and Scotch Cookbook. She joins author and chef Rozanne Gold to share why the artistry of her food and drink shouldn’t surprise you (given to other titles she’s claimed: art historian and gallerist), creating a business model combining feminism, activism and community building with great food and warm hospitality, and her recipe for what might be the most remarkable pie crust ever made.

One legend and two legends-in-the-making join us for this show. Chef Jody Adams of Boston's Porto, TRADE, and Saloniki is a trailblazing chef and restaurateur–and a humanitarian, which happens to be our favorite kind of human. Then we’ll be talking to Keavy Landreth and Allison Kave, the founders of Brooklyn’s Butter & Scotch, which they call the Bar & Bakery of Your Dreams.

This week on Eat Your Words, Cathy invites Allison Kave into the studio, founder of First Prize Pies, and author of First Prize Pies. Allison jumped in to the world of pies after winning a pie bake-off in 2009, and spontaneously became a baker. Tune in to hear all about her delicious recipes! This program has been sponsored by Le Creuset. Today’s music provided by Idgy Dean. This week's episode features the amazing, talented and ridiculously smart baker/entrepreneur Allison Kave. Owner and head pie genius at First Prize Pies, Allison is also one half of Butter & Scotch (with partner Keavy Landreth) and thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, they will be opening Brooklyn's first Craft Cocktail and Dessert Bar in 2014. In addition to discussing her upcoming cookbook First Prize Pies, Allison and I talk about having famous brothers respectively and how hers had a close brush with death thanks to an Asian hornet sting while traveling around Vietnam. WARNING - your mouth may water as much as mine does during the interview. Due to a sound issue, the podcast we were planning on posting today got shifted back so despite my saying that this is episode 5, it is indeed episode 2. We're still getting on our feet here at Lunch With Legs so please be patient with us as we get used to this new-fangled stuff...
