Mark Cox is the founder of In the Funnel Sales Coaching. A repeatable process has undeniable benefits in converting prospects into paying clients — and this process is best applied to discovery. But processes are just guides. They are not rigid. And these processes integrate between the buyer's journey and your own sales process. At the core of it, selling is simply solving the problems of your clients and your goal is to constantly add value to the prospect. Andy and Mark discuss an authentic way to achieve this by training sellers to be better people so they can improve their ability to connect with other people. HIGHLIGHTS The buyer's journey and your sales process are not mutually exclusive Repeatable sales processes convert prospects to paying clients A commonsense principle in sales is to always add value Train sellers to be better persons to be better sellers QUOTES Mark: "Do we know who we're speaking to? Do we understand their world? Can we provide insight to them? Can we provide value in every interaction? So the fact that we might be thinking along what we do as a process doesn't negate the fact that they've got the journey that they're going through." Andy: "Every interaction we have with a buyer is, at sort of bottomline, is that we have to earn the right in that interaction to a next interaction. And there's always a sense you get from sellers, some sellers, and perhaps somebody a little less experienced but those also are just chugging through life and not paying attention, is that buyers don't have to talk to you.” Mark: “Adding value along every step is another one of these commonsense principles about selling. You've mentioned it on many podcasts, I've mentioned it, how often are we getting folks with energy and enthusiasm doing demand generation, cold calling, prospecting us, they've never even been to our website?" Andy: "To me, selling is nothing more than listening to understand what's the most important thing to a buyer and then helping them get that. That's selling to me. And if you're in sales and you have that in mind that you understand your job is to be able to listen, which means you got to ask questions, listen to understand what's the most important thing to the buyer." Say hello to our dear friend, Andy To. He’s an inspiring photographer and filmmaker based in NYC. His memories start with being raised by his grandparents in East Oakland, California. He grew up in a rough part of town where he faced adversity at a young age. You won't catch him taking it for granted though. It taught Andy to see the beauty in all things and to never pass judgment. Although Andy didn’t have much growing up, his grandparents took pride in giving back to the community every chance they got. Andy’s grandfather would document their journeys back to Saigon using his Sony Hi-8 camcorder visiting the local orphanages. When he brought the footage back he and Andy would watch it together and this taught Andy the art of storytelling. During this episode we take you on a wild and deep journey sharing Andy’s authentic story from the Hood, to the universe! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

In this episode we talk with Andy about growing up in Oakland, the influence both his grandmother and high school teacher Mr. Jackson have had on his life, being selected as one of two travel videographers for Beautiful Destinations out of the 50,000 applicants. This is We Are Photographers with Andy To and this is his story.
From their early days of YouTube and photography, Oakland natives Joycelyn Linh (@jlinhh) and Andy To (@andyto) have taken their creative passions and moved them permanently to New York City as they continue to travel the world for projects. The duo joins us in the studio to talk about how making the move to the East Coast has changed their work opportunities, how they first got their start and built their experience, and what beginner creatives have to do succeed (hint: it's not all about the gear).

“Going outside is highly overrated” This week in our new show SPOILER, we're reading Ernest Kline's "nerdgasm" of a book, Ready Player One. As Rachael and Andy get in touch with their inner geek, Paul has been frittering away more of his short time on this earth collating every pop culture reference in the book and putting them into another of his legendary remixes (see video version below…). Meanwhile, the dystopian setting of Ready Player One leads Rachael to consider the popularity of dystopian settings in teen fiction, and there's an unscheduled interruption from Andy… To hear more from SPOILER go to www.spoilerpodcast.co.uk or subscribe here: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/spoiler/id1042430544?mt=2
