SEASON 1 FINALE IS HERE! This... is where it all began. Or, rather, is ending. For... season 1... anyway. Josh and Ryan discuss the genesis of the "B-Siders" project through the context of the original film we deconstructed: 2002's "Blue Crush." If you want to feel the rush, you have to take the risk, and this movie took some serious risks with its storytelling and plot structure. Come with us and brave drowning dream sequences, swim through football player infested waters, and party down with the most adequate cast the early 2000s had to offer. If you're looking for a, eh, fine? film, you've come to the right place. "Blue Crush" was released in 2002 and starred Kate Bosworth, Michelle Rodriguez and Sanoe Lake
Why go chasing waterfalls when the podcast you're looking for is right here?! This week on The B-Siders, fly with peacocks Josh and Ryan to the hard streets of New York City to join detectives Allen Gamble and Terry Hoitz as they take down the most unfortunate adaptation of Dora the Explorer ever! Or, something like that. Just, please, leave the electric shavers attached to a mannequin's arm at home- this is a family-friendly podcast. Well, okay, it's not, but still, what happens between you and your significant other stays between you two and your mother-in-law. "The Other Guys" was released in 2010 and stars Will Ferrell, Mark Whalberg, and Michael Keaton, with appearances by Eva Mendes, Samuel L Jackson, and Dwayne Johnson.
Side B Christians, including author Bekah Mason, openly state they are homosexual, or transgender, and most of them believe God made them as they are. Nevertheless, they declare that out of loyalty to Scripture, they choose celibacy and refuse to indulge their sexual desires. FBB writer Shafer Parker asks, can B Siders be on the right track when their public expression of faith includes little joy and much sympathy for practicing homosexuals? And what will be the end result if their philosophy becomes the model for the church?
You ain't never heard a cast like this! This week on The B-Siders, creator Josh and critic Ryan sift through the sands of Disney's vault and take you back to 1996 with the third and final animated Aladdin film: "Aladdin and the King of Thieves"! Why is it that Genie has been getting more and more light blue as time goes on? How does Cassim keep his mullet so well coiffed? Are we ALL voiced by Jim Cummings, and we just don't realize it? All of this and more as we break down an early classic from the Disney straight-to-video era. Looking for a whole new world of film critique podcast? We're your diamond in the rough. Just watch that first step- this Cave of Wonders doesn't have guardrails either. "Aladdin and the King of Thieves" was released in 1996 and stars the voice talents of Robin Williams, John Rhys-Davies, Jim Cummings, Gilbert Gotfried, and Scott Weigner.
It's Conan vs. Conan vs. Conan! This week on The B-Siders, Josh and Ryan go back to the days after the oceans drank Atlantis and sharpen their steel for the 2011 sword and sorcery epic, "Conan the Barbarian," starring Jason Mamoa. We talk about the stories of Robert E Howard, the original Arnie film interpretation, and why this iteration is so... forgettable. Grab your sword and memorize your spells- The Dweller is waiting! Conan the Barbarian was released in 2011 and stars Jason Momoa, Rachel Nicols, Rose McGowan, and Ron Pearlman.
Living on the B Side has evolved a lot since I initially had the original website created. From a personal blogging website, it has now turned into a Podcast focused passion project whilst still having the guest blogging element to it. I also learned more about the power of music and how amazing it can be to integrate it into my daily life. Chatting to others about their take on how music impacts their lives has contributed heavily to the changes now being made to my website. Please bear with me whilst I work through this process; I want to get it right to do my vision for it justice. In the meantime, I would love to stay in touch with you so we can continue to share our common passion for music and life. Below are a few ways we can make that happen, and you can connect with the B-Sider Community and me. With an adequate grimace and a mediocre sound, he pulls the laughing film critics down! This week on The B-Siders we discuss the 1998 American entry in the Godzilla franchise. Crawl with Josh and Ryan through a nuclear wasteland of promising but poorly executed plot threads, lackluster character development, and the largest marketing campaign of the late 20th Century (don't quote us on that part, it's probably not a real fact). The monster movie is back and it's better... no... more forgettable than ever! Godzilla '98 stars Matthew Brodrick, Jean Reno, Hank Azaria and Maria Pitillo
In which Matt tells the story of Agoston Haraszthy, the Hungarian businessman who orchestrated and self-funded California viticulture, Phil espouses his distaste for avocado toast, and we revisit a host of former B-Siders and their unique parallels to this week's unfortunate legend. History is full of amazing stories and memorable people... but we don't care about them. Some of the most influential people in the world have been completely overlooked or just plain forgotten. We're digging deep into the history books to bring you their stories, and maybe some laughs along the way. This is History's B-Side. We're not historians. We're Phil Hall and Matt Melito, two guys who simply enjoy a good story. We're unimportant, forgettable people, bringing you the stories of history's most important forgotten people. Who are they? They're the people you don't know, from the stories that you do. Some were involved in the moments that made history. Some had their accomplishments stolen from them. Others simply got lost in time. All of them changed the world, for better or for worse. They are the B-Siders.
The Penultimate Episode of season 1, the B-Siders finally take on the nemesis head to head, and everything goes according to plan.
As the B-Siders prepare to take on their nemesis, they gather allies to their cause. They also level up- they are going to need it. Time to get ready for last call!
Things finally become clearer for the B-Siders as they pin down exactly what is going on, and make plans to fix it. Also, Tiny Bob starts a new religion.
Dinner time with the B-Siders! Surely, nothing could go horribly wrong at a restaurant, not with this capable group.
