I feel like Hellboy is a character that hasn't had much time to age at all... Seems like just yesterday that Ron Pearlman was on his second film, and then a reboot came a few years ago. Now we're on our third actor donning the red makeup. The horror elements are present, but let's see if this can stand out. Enjoy, y'all.
James McAvoy plays a wonderful deranged crazy person. If you've seen the trailer you know what youre getting into. Speak No Evil is a solid watch with some solid performances though the movie is a little short on logic and good decisions, horror movie tropes be damned. 0:09:30 - Box Office and upcoming releases. 0:18:00 *** What's Streaming *** HULU 28 WEEKS LATER, Dir. We all know that Ron Pearlman movies. However, in 2019 David Harbor was given the opportunity to take on the role. It wasn't well received by the masses. We are the masses though are we LOL Here is our review and thoughts on 2019 Hellboy Reboot.#hellboy
It has been an odd year for horror at the box office. While the big name movies have done little to move the needle, indie horror is doing record breaking business. There is one notable exception that has not made this a complete shutout for horror in theaters. And it is not one of the many theatrical re-releases that have come out this year.Voice of Shadows gets off to a confusing start. It has an emotionally charged monologue that is immediately followed by a title card that includes two upside down crosses and a pentagram. Someone watching will have no idea what to expect. It is not long before it is clear you are going to be in for a lot of the former and little of the latter. It ends up being a rough watch and it is not hard to see why. The lead actor is not able to believably pull off what the script requires. This may not be entirely his fault - he is tasked to carry all of the film's emotion for the entire hour and a half - but it is very noticeable. Paired with a cut and paste plot that still manages to be confusing and a litany of plot holes, and Voice of Shadows becomes a very rough watch.Lord of Wolves is unlike any werewolf movie we have ever seen. (To be fair, to call it a werewolf movie is not entirely accurate.) It has a number of strong characters, a deep message, and relies little on transformations and gore. It is a character study, but not in the same way these types of films tend to be.There is a lot going on here in a short amount of time. It really should not work. And yet, strong storytelling and a strong mystery will keep audiences interested. The creature design manages to be simultaneously badass and hokey. It could have been something special if not for one thing. Adventures in Movies! is a part of the Morbidly Beautiful Podcast Network. In 2019 Lionsgate attempted the unimaginable, a reboot of the Hellboy franchise after the much beloved Guillermo del Toro and Ron Pearlman dead cancelled trilogy. With David Harbour stepping into the role and directed (sort of) by Neil Marshall it was a critical and commercial bomb. HOWEVER as a movie some perhaps feel that it's been judged unfairly especially considering the mythology, creature work, world bulding and story. Today on Too Opinionated, we visit with the director of Clawfoot, Michael Day! Michael Day is a writer, director, and producer born in Pittsburgh, PA. While in college, Michael got his start by directing a music video for a then, up-and-coming rapper, WIZ KHALIFA. After college, he immediately immersed himself in the film industry, working on such films as THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, DJANGO UNCHAINED, and TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION, among others. In the feature world, Michael wrote and produced an action trilogy, titled ROGUE WARFARE. The second film in the series ranked #1 it's first week on Netflix. More recently, Michael started producing for Yale Entertainment, including such films as AS THEY MADE US, RARE OBJECTS, and THE KILL ROOM. Producing those films opened the door for Michael to produce and direct his first feature film for Yale, a dark comedy/thriller, CLAWFOOT, starring Francesca Eastwood, Milo Gibson, and Olivia Culpo. CLAWFOOT will be available on major VOD platforms. Michael second feature film, FOG OF WAR, starring John Cusack, Brianna Hildebrand and Jake Abel, will be released in the winter of 2024. Since then, Michael has produced several films that are currently post production: PRETTY THING, a sexual thriller starring Alicia Silverstone and Karl Glusman, directed by Justin Kelly; STRANGLEHOLD, an action comedy featuring Ashley Benson, Jake Lacy, Justin Long, and Ron Pearlman, directed by Clark Duke; and MIDNIGHT, starring Rosario Dawson, Milla Jovovich, and Alexandra Shipp, directed by Joshua Miller. Anderson directed film "Monster Hunter" starring Milla Jovovich and Tony Jaa. Tune in to find out why Paul W.S. Anderson sucks so bad, why Milla Jovovich needs to stop being in movies, and why Ron Pearlman should've had a bigger role in this one! IMDB synopsis "When Cpt. Artemis and her loyal soldiers are transported to a new world, they engage in a desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers. This was a character who took me by surprise back when I first saw Ron Pearlman play the role, but what's even more surprising is the fact that this is the third actor to portray the character... I'm open to reboots, but we need to make sure there's one version we can latch onto for years to come. Enjoy, people.
We're back and checking out another video game film adaptation! This time it's the Monster Hunter film that took the world by storm during Covid (not really), BUT is it as bad as people say it is? Tune in to find out!
Everyone knows Prince Valiant, the comic strip that's NO FUN. You look at that wall of text and those serious illustrations and you just know this is a scam -- it's no whimsical fun comic strip, it's probably trying to teach you something! In 1997, Prince Valiant was adapted into a theatrical film with Katherine Heigl, Ron Pearlman, Warwick Davis, and Joanna Lumley, which, in a different world, might have filled the Krull-shaped hole in our hearts... If only!
It's time for our Strange Imports Month vacation to come to an end. Shawn and Aaron have one final stop in France, where it's about to get really weird with 'The City Of Lost Children'. I'll be honest... There's a good chance you've never heard of or seen this movie. It's very niche. Not only is it foreign, but it's also just a very surreal, bizarre film. Much like 'Zebraman' in episode 172, this is another one where "If you know you know". But if you know and like weird films like 'Brazil' or 'Dark City' (spoiler alert of our episode) we would both recommend this. It's worth it. Try something new tonight. Go watch Ron Pearlman speak French. Whoa... weren't seeing that twist coming, were you? Go watch this film, then come listen to us blab. 5 Star reviews help drive us up the charts. Have you heard of Blade? He's the scourge of the vampire world and is what they refer to as a "Daywalker" - he has all of their strengths....NONE of their weaknesses. And he's played by Wesley Snipes, have you heard of him? He was one of the bigger action stars of the '90's back when action stars were actually a thing which would draw folks to go to the movies. The lore of Blade and the charisma of Snipes seemed to be an ideal match at the time and twenty-five years ago this month, we saw the release of that first Blade movie (starring Snipes in the titular role) which was directed by Stephen Norrington. It was not only a surprise hit at the box office but it also earned the distinction of being THE first successful feature film adapted by a Marvel Comics property.....and obviously was far from the last. It co-starred Stephen Dorff, Kris Kristofferson, and N'Bushe Wright. Four years later came the release of its sequel directed by Oscar-winning genre legend Guillermo Del Toro - both Snipes and Kristofferson returned to be joined by a pretty impressive extended cast including Ron Pearlman, Leonor Varela, Norman Reedus, Luke Goss, and the legendary Donnie Yen. In honor of the 25th Anniversary of this seminal cinema property, what better way to celebrate than a special DOUBLE-FEATURE review of those first two Blade movies! This week Invasion of the Remake breaks down the ongoing WGA & SAG-AFTRA strikes. We examine why they are on strike, what the unions are asking for, and what it might mean for the future of film and television. Audio clips from Youtube feature Adam Conover, Vin Diesel, Bob Iger, Sean Gunn, and Ron Pearlman. Note: There is a glitch that affects the audio at the 8:00 minute mark that last roughly 3:30 minutes to the 11:30 mark before returning to normal. Everything is audible but the quality for those three and half minutes is poor (by our standards). We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for understanding. Legendary comedian Darrell Hammond joins Adam today with a fascinating discussion on his many years on SNL, and his spectacular impressions of Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Trump and so many more. He shares how being naturally talented with the comedic gene, and the fortuity of being cast on SNL, likely saved his life, due to severe PTSD from a severely abusive mother and childhood growing up. Next they play the Rotten Tomatoes Game, where they guess the popularity or lack thereof of various movies. Chris introduces the news, discussing the current chaos in Hollywood with the actors and writers striking for better pay, AI concerns, and more. Plus a spectacular video showcasing a side of the actor, Ron Pearlman that no one would want to be on the receiving end of. We also get to witness Adam and Dr. Drew break down an interesting Newsweek article that's targeted towards Adam. Happy Monday! Sam and Emma host Daniel Bessner & Derek Davison, co-hosts of the American Prestige podcast, to discuss last week's NATO summit in Lithuania. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on labor action across the US, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, AIPAC Dems' attacks on Jayapal, and Ron DeSantis, before watching AOC help pump up a crowd of UPS Teamsters in the lead-up to a potential strike. Daniel Bessner and Derek Davison then run through a brief history of NATO since the fall of the USSR, exploring how the US dealt with the disappearance of its only hegemonic challenger – choosing to push a mass expansion of the anti-Soviet (and pro-US) NATO alliance, and ramping up their levels of military action across the globe as the project for a New American Century began. Bessner and Davison then look to the 2004 NATO expansion alongside NATO action in Afghanistan as a continuation of US tactics of hegemonic expansion during the Cold War, particularly the country's shift towards a capitalist-focused foreign policy that maintains the dominance of the US Dollar. After looking at the US and NATO's stance towards Ukraine, and how the decision to tempt them with acceptance completely bit the organization in the ass, they wrap up by assessing the US' slow pivot to the Pacific, and looking at what role the US can (and should) play in promoting peace in Ukraine. And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma watch Ron Pearlman's killer response to Bob Iger's comments about using the strike to force actors into homelessness, before tackling the incredibly spineless and corrupt response by Democrats to Rep. Jayapal's statements on Israel's apartheid state. Jim Jordan defends the little man (Elon Musk) against constant attacks (emails) from the oppressor (Lina Khan), Jody from MA dives into the problems with assisted living, and Miles from Minneapolis dives into his experiences with the Teamsters' Sean O'Brien. Sam and Emma also address RFK's odd anti-Semitic and sinophobic COVID claims, plus, your calls and IMs! Carson and his wife went down to T-Swift and had a great time! Ron Pearlman from Sons of Anarchy had a very threatening message for Hollywood executives over the weekend. BJ and Carson along with their families went to Casa Bonita on Friday with Rob who listens to the show! BJ was super impressed with the whole experience. Jamie tried to tell BJ he would not be able to replace his headlights on his own. He tried to fix them over the weekend. He could not do it. MI7 didn't do very well in its opening weekend and with Barbie and Oppenheimer coming out this Friday we think it may flop. Carson got a great video of a man who was clearly dragged along to the Taylor Swift show on Saturday. Ciara's store in Park Meadows is closing only a year after opening. No one won the powerball over the weekend! You can only win if you play!

This episode lovingly dedicated to Mr. John Romita Sr.WARNING! THIS EPISODE OF THE GEEKZIP PODCAST CONTAINS SPOILERS! LISTEN AT YOUR OWN RISK!It's movie review time in the Zipcave! Christian and Ryan breakdown the latest blockbusters to hit theaters, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and The Flash. Ryan took Sammy Zee to see the latest installment in the "sometimes hot; sometimes not" Transformers film property, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. With amazing visuals and nostalgic references out the ying-yang, T:ROTB delivers an action pack ride from start to finish. While Ryan didn't get everything he wanted out of the new film (sorry, no Megatron as a purple T-Rex), it is compared by the guys to Bumblebee rather than the overly processed Michael Bay series. Peter Cullen returns to voice Optimus Prime while Ron Pearlman delivers a solid performance as the new Earth guardian and leader of the Maximals.Next, Ryan breaks down the highly anticipated new film from Warner Bros and DC Comics, The Flash, starring the controversy creating Ezra Miller, Ben Affleck, Jeremy Irons, Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon and Michael Keaton. It's a solid review for Ryan, who gush's over Keaton's historic step back into the cowl of the Dark Knight, over 30 years since dawning the cape in 1992's Batman Returns. While Ryan tries not to spoil the film as much as he can, he does go through some of the more iconic moments and cameo appearances from the film, including one incredible moment at the end of the film he guarantees will make audiences cry.Almost an hour later, the guys move on to the news (Rather quickly. Apologies), including the new interview with DC head James Gunn with Michael Rossenbaum, Andy Muschietti's nod to direct Batman: The Brave and the Bold, a renewal for CW's Superman & Lois, CM Punk's return to the squared circle, the crumbling of Roman Reigns' Bloodline and many more stories. The GeekZip Podcast proudly supports and endorses the WGA and their requests for livable wages!Click Here To Find Out How YOU Can Help!Don't forget to follow the guys on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
