Supergroups in extreme metal take on a whole other meaning when it's comprised of Dave Witte, Mathias “Vreth” Lillmåns, and Phil Hall. Those names are synonymous with some of the best offerings extreme metal has to offer. And now with Morbikon, this supergroup crosses the threshold of 90s era Scandinavian black metal and melodic death metal on their debut Ov Mournful Twilight (Tankcrimes). To say this album rips would be a gross understatement, but with its membership this should surprise no one. Buke recently spoke to Phil "Landphil" Hall, who handles guitar and bass here, for a wide ranging chat about the band, the album, how it all came to be, and so much more. We now bring you this conversation in its entirety so grab your beverage of choice and enjoy. 9C LINKS: Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram.

Who would've thought that Jesus would be the biggest movie star on the planet? With countless depictions spanning the last 130+ years, Jesus is easily the character who has been represented the most onscreen over the course of film history. With his new book, JESUS CHRIST, MOVIE STAR, author Phil Hall takes an in-depth look at the fascination with Jesus at the movies and its wildly different interpretations. In this 1on1, we speak to Hall about why Hollywood has been so fascinated by the man, why the depictions differ so vastly and the relationship between the church and the cinema.

Jon Armstrong is a busy person. Alongside competing in the 2021 Junior World Rally Championship alongside co-driver Phil Hall for the Codemasters DiRT Rally Team, he's also a game designer at Codemasters during the week. For those who perhaps aren't aware, Jon starting rallying and working is way up the championships, competing in Ireland, the British Rally Championship, the Junior European Rally Championship, and then onto the Drive DMACK Cup and the WRC 2 competition. But then, faced with the difficulty of raising the budget required to compete at the very top of rallying, he turned to esports, winning the 2018 (and finishing second in 2019) WRC esports competition. This then led to working on the later stages of DiRT Rally 2.0 development, a full-time role at the company and now the opportunity to compete on the world stage once again. The season is going well too, winning the first JWRC round on the Croatia Rally. With all of that in mind, we talked to Jon on this latest podcast episode, discussing his early career, sim rallying and his curent JWRC season so far.
Actor, writer and podcast host Phil Hall returns to discuss his new book called Jesus Christ Movie Star. Plus, the usual news from Fun Ideas Productions.
Welcome to Episode 6 of the Lovecars On the Grid, the global motorsport roundup podcast! No F1 to discuss, but an action packed weekend from the world of motorsport events, including the third round of the World Rally Championship in Croatia which saw another last stage heartbreak for Elfyn Evans – and, as in Italy last year, Sebastien Ogier was the man who benefited from Elfyn's error … A couple of Brits also won the Junior WRC even – congratulations to Jon Armstrong and Phil Hall. The other big event in Europe was Rounds 5 & 6 of the Formula E Championship from Valencia – but not the streets of Valencia – and it turned out to be another rather ‘interesting' weekend… starting off with a rather embarrassing race ending on Saturday as Brit Jake Dennis led from start to finish – another driver who could well have ended up an F1 star – on Sunday. For the rest of last week's action, we go to Indycar and NASCAR … with a brilliant 4th place from Jack Harvey with the Talladega madness! Next weekend F1 returns to the magnificent Algarve circuit for the Portuguese Grand Prix and hopefully another Max v Lewis classic, as MotoGP heads to Jerez in Spain. Indycar makes it three rounds on the trot with a visit to Texas for the first oval race of the season, while the brave new world of the Hypercar World Endurance Championship kicks off at Spa but sadly only two Toyotas and one Alpine are ready for it – but the future still looks very promising with the return of Porsche and Ferrari over the next couple of years.
In episode 6 I have guest Phil Hall on who is the creator of Coach Hall's Winners Academy, which is a program that he has built that helps unlock true happiness by living your life as the best version of yourself. Phil is a born leader, a former collegiate football, coach, teacher, mentor to many and is now currently serving as a principle of a High School in Vermont. He has a beautiful family, wife and 3 boys (twins just born 2 months ago). I hope you enjoy our conversation!
History is full of amazing stories and memorable people... but we don't care about them. Some of the most influential people in the world have been completely overlooked or just plain forgotten. We're digging deep into the history books to bring you their stories, and maybe some laughs along the way. This is History's B-Side. We're not historians. We're Phil Hall and Matt Melito, two guys who simply enjoy a good story. We're unimportant, forgettable people, bringing you the stories of history's most important forgotten people. Who are they? They're the people you don't know, from the stories that you do. Some were involved in the moments that made history. Some had their accomplishments stolen from them. Others simply got lost in time. All of them changed the world, for better or for worse. They are the B-Siders.
Working with his Dad on a Peugeot Rally car in the garage and helping out on events at just 8 years old is where it started for Phil. He made his own luck, seized opportunities that took him to 25 WRC events spread across every continent and there is still more to come. This interview gets really in depth about what it's like to be a Co-Driver in detail - from pens running out mid stage, to ending up upside down in snow banks, Phil tells us all. Enjoy! (He never took a half used pen into a stage again!) Review and Subscribe :) @jadepaveleymotorsport
This week on the PRmoment podcast, we've got Phil Hall, chairman of The PHA Group. For those of you that are not aware, Phil was the editor of the News of the World from 1995 to 2000. His old bosses included Piers Morgan and Rupert Murdoch – he was at the pinnacle of British tabloid journalism before he left it all behind in 2005 and founded Phil Hall Associates (Now The PHA Group). He started the business in his front room and his first client was none other than Paul McCartney. He went on to represent Heather Mills McCartney in the infamous divorce and has since built The PHA Group to have revenues of well north of £9m in the pre-Covid-19 world that we all used to enjoy. The PHA Group employs around 100 people. Here’s a flavour of what Phil and I discuss:How the Covid 19 crisis has impacted PHA Media. How making people redundant is the hardest part of running a business. How PHA Media has won 20 new clients in the past few months.Phil talks us through the story of how he stared PHA Media including how his first client was Heather Mills McCartney, to now being a multi-sector PR firm with nearly 100 employees and outside investors. Why Phil’s wife Marie gave up her job as a corporate lawyer to run the business side of things, which gave the business proper structure. This in turn, meant they kept their best people and could grow the business. A rollercoaster: How PHA media lost 40% of its fee income at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic and has replaced 20% of that already. What Paul McCartney said to Phil when he told him he was going to represent his wife in their divorce case.Phil tells us how he ended up in Ecuador at a presidential palace in the middle of a coup, surrounded by machine guns.Phil tells us the story of how he got to know Piers Morgan, because of Piers Morgan’s grandad who was a pen friend of Myra Hindley and Ian Brady.Phil tells us why Rupert Murdoch was the best boss he ever had.Phil tells us why his time as editor of the News of the World was such a hard time of his career.Phil talks about why he lost his job over the Jeffrey Archer story, where, in effect, Rupert Murdoch’s best-selling editor had exposed his best-selling author.Phil tells us why he thinks the closing of the News of the World was “such a shame.”Why Phil took the gamble soon after he’d left his role as editor of the News of the World set up his own PR firm in his front room…Does Phil regret leaving journalism?Phil talks about how the growth of PHA didn’t really follow a strategy, it was more about how “we kept winning business.”Phil tells us about a couple of big exclusives early on in his journalism career.Phil gives his perspective of the phone-hacking scandal. Why Phil is a big believer in “jumping in with both feet and going for it” an approach that has stood him in good stead, like the time he ended up on the phone to Colonel Gaddafi. Why Phil has no problem working for the like of Qatar and Fred the Shred.Phill tells us about a time Princess Diana tipped him off about the James Gilbey story. What does Phil make of the challenges facing the media today?
In today's Daily Download episode, HW+ Managing Editor Brena Nath discusses the nation's ongoing spring home-buying season as data indicates an uptick in demand despite COVID-19 pessimism. In an article written by HousingWire's Phil Hall, several housing industry experts question doom-and-gloom forecasts, pointing to continued activity in the mortgage space. One, in particular, Paul Buege, president of Inlanta Mortgage in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, observed that the crisis is having “an impact on some of the first-time homebuyers that are in the lower credit spectrum." He also pointed out that those most impacted by current economic mayhem are not driving the market and have pretty much pulled themselves out of the spring home-buying season for the moment. Following the main story, HousingWire Digital Producer Alcynna Lloyd covers Black Knight's recent forbearance data that indicates nearly 3 million American borrowers are already in forbearance, Realtor.com's new online feature that allows potential homebuyers to virtually tour homes and a pledge from three of the nation's biggest credit reporting agencies to provide consumers with free credit reports once a week for the next year. The Daily Download examines the most captivating articles reported from the HousingWire newsroom. Each afternoon, HousingWire provides its readers with a deeper look into the stories that are not only chronicling the biggest announcements within the housing finance industry but are also helping Move Markets Forward. Phil Hall is the author of, among other titles, a book called The Weirdest Movie Ever Made: The Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot Film. Phil is a film writer whose work has appeared in The New York Times, New York Daily News and Wired, and he is the host of the podcast “The Online Movie Show with Phil Hall”, which is available on SoundCloud. What Phil has done in this book is look at the Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot film from a technical filmmaking standpoint and as a cinematic and cultural artifact. He also looks at the men who made the film and the details of their story before, during and after their infamous Bigfoot footage became a meme. We’re not too interested, for the purpose of this discussion, in the “authenticity” of the film. Whether the footage is real or a hoax doesn’t matter. Because this is a piece of art whose impact can be felt beyond belief systems. At the end of the day this is just a film, a movie. And as Phil says, it’s perhaps the weirdest movie ever made.
