Last year I read the book Dune and compared it to the 1984 movie, and it just so happened the first trailer for the new version of Dune came out, so I spoke about that too.  If your interested, you can find my original Dune episode is here - in it I go into the story a bit more and where I though the new version would end.In this episode I talk about Denis Villeneuve's version, how it compares to what I can remember happens in the book, and what this does right, and wrong, compared to the 1984 version. If you enjoyed either episode please leave a review in Podchaser - it helps us grown and makes us look good.  Otherwise please review us wherever you listen to us.  You can also find us in the following places.  Subscribe and join the conversation with our community.TwitterInstagramLetterboxdYouTubeWe hope you have an awesome day wherever you are, and whatever your doing.Andrew, Isla & NieveSupport the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/kwawwpodcast)

DA BINGE BOIS ARE BACK AND RUNNING THROUGH THE SANDS OF ARRAKIS, AS WE COME TO TALK ABOUT THE 2021 ADAPTATION OF DUNE! We come around this week to talk about Dune which has hit HBO Max and theaters so you can watch it in your preferred way. But before we talk about Dune, which is actually Part 1 of two different movies, we must do our world renowned segment, where we talk about the hottest and great or not so great trailers hitting the media world. Today we talked about Disney+ new trailer for Book Of Boba Fett, Disney's Lightyear, the new WIT Studio x Cloverworks anime Spy X Family, Netflix's Tiger King 2, and Netflix's The Witcher Season 2. After that, we get into Dune and start speaking on the different things we all took away from it. We all heavily enjoyed the movie, however we felt it really suffered from not having the second part ready to go right away or within the year as there was something missing from it. We talk about how Timothée Chalamet as Paul is kinda whiny throughout the entire movie, how Jason Momoa basically did his normal schtick as Paul's guardian/older brother character, and how despite being advertised very heavily throughout the marketing campaign for this movie Zendaya was barely shown. Next week, Da Binge Bois prepare for Netflix's live action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop by watching the original anime series that everything started with! So hang out with us next Monday where you can see more heat just like this episode! Happy Wednesday everyone! Today Mike and Matt return to their regular-ish schedule. This week the guys hit the theaters and HBO Max to check out Dune (2021) starring Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, and Jason Momoa. Not hardcore Sci-Fi related topics include books, COVID has changed movie production forever, and living in the desert. What a visually incredible film. Dune (2021) is another masterpiece from Denis Villeneuve. It is just stunning to look at, especially on the big screen. The cast is just as incredible as the cinematography. There are a ton of big names in this film in both big and small roles. The story and it's pacing is where this film is less successful. If you are not familiar with Dune you run the risk of getting lost especially in the start. It is a Sci-Fi epic much in the vein of Star Wars or Star Trek with a ton to digest. By the end of Dune you will be itching for a resolution as the credits roll. Luckily we will be getting part two in the near future. Matt loved Dune (2021) awarding it a near perfect score of 4.5 out of 5 Reels. Mike also really enjoyed the movie but the story left him confused and frustrated. He awards it 4 out of 5 Reels.  Next week our next Marvel Cinematic Universe film The Eternals hits theaters! Mike thinks it's going to be incredible while Matt thinks it's going to flop. We will find out and report back to you. Thank you for your continued support of our podcast and we will chat at you next week. If you have a film you would like Matt and Mike to review, email us at nerds@reelfilmnerds.com You can find us on all things social such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.  Why not join our Facebook Fan Group so you can yell at Mike and Matt from the comfort of your keyboard while talking about films. After a chance encounter reunites the former childhood friends one summer afternoon, Irene reluctantly allows Clare into her home, where she ingratiates herself to Irene's husband (André Holland) and family, and soon her larger social circle as well. As their lives become more deeply intertwined, Irene finds her once-steady existence upended by Clare, and PASSING becomes a riveting examination of obsession, repression and the lies people tell themselves and others to protect their carefully constructed realities.Acclaimed upon its premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival, PASSING marks the directorial debut of Rebecca Hall, who also adapted the screenplay. The film intimately uses the notion of “passing” to explore not just racial identity but also gender and the responsibilities of motherhood, sexuality, and the performance of femininity.Release Date: In select theaters on October 27, 2021 and available via Netflix on November 10, 2021Directed by: Rebecca HallScreenplay by: Rebecca HallBased on the novel “Passing” by Nella LarsenStarring: Tessa Thompson, Ruth Negga, André Holland, Bill Camp, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Antoinette Crowe-Legacy, and Alexander SkarsgårdDistributor: NetflixGenre: DramaRunning Time: 1 hour 38 minutesRated PG-13 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
