As part of UNBOUND: Visions Of The Black Feminine season at BFI, THINK Cinematic's Jan Asante hosted a special #BCAFilmFest (Black Cultural Archives Film Festival) screening of BAFTA-nominated British film Second Coming, starring Idris Elba and Nadine Marshall and written by the phenomenal debbie tucker green. Joining the conversation is The British Blacklist founder Akua Gyamfi, and Poet Be Manzini of Caramel Film Club.  Take a listen as they unpack the significance of director debbie tucker green's seminal film as a rare and exceptional offering in the underrepresented canon of contemporary Black and British drama and explore why it is that nuanced British family dramas that centre Black lives and feature prominent black, and if you like, specifically dark-skinned female leads remain so few and far between? HOST - Culture Kinetica: THINK CINEMATIC is a Creative Consultancy brand founded by designer, writer, and film programmer Jan Asante. As a curator, Jan has produced #BCAFilmFest in partnership with Black Cultural Archives since 2014, and served as a consultant on the 2016 BBC series, Black Is The New Black (for Iconoclast & Pulse Films). As a film writer, Jan has contributed to BFI/British Film Institute's Black Star Compendium and has been featured in Sight & Sound Magazine, Indiewire.com, Shadow & Act and June Givanni Pan African Cinema Archive. The Context of White Supremacy hosts our monthly Global Sunday Talk On Racism. This program is specifically constructed to encourage participation from Victims of Racism beyond the United States and/or non-white people who are not able to join the dialog during our typical broadcast time. Like everything else, the holiday season supports the System of Racism. Dutch journalist and political candidate Sylvia Simons was Racially Terrorized for critiquing the White Supremacist tradition of Zwarte Piet (Black Pete). Simon's face was "super-imposed on the hanged bodies of victims of a lynching." Whites in England broadcast a BBC documentary on what some would describe as the 2011 lynching of Mark Duggan by Metropolitan Police. The project obscured the centrality of White Supremacy in Duggan's death and the ensuing coverage of the killing as well as the days of "rioting." Black Is The New Black, a four-part series also aired on the BBC, features Thandie Newton, Naomi Campbell, Dizzee Rascal, Alesha Dixon and some of the most recognizable, most accomplished black Britons alive. Refreshingly, many of these black celebrities spoke candidly, courageously about how they have been humiliated and brutalized by White Supremacists. #AnswersForMiriamCarey INVEST in The COWS - http://paypal.me/GusTRenegade CALL IN NUMBER: 641.715.3640 CODE: 564943# The C.O.W.S. archives: http://tiny.cc/76f6p
