Giuseppe left Italy together with his family in 1967 unaware his father had organised an arranged marriage for his sister. Giuseppe's passion was always music and once in Australia that passion drew him into a copyright battle with the government, importing vinyl from overseas and eventually establishing Central Station Records in Melbourne. His entrepreneurial spirit, together with his partner Morgan Williams, saw them launch a line of clothing off the back of the brand as the business continued to build. These days they call Black Mountian, in the Noosa hinterland, home where they work on their other passion, conservation and the protection of the environment.
Many of us remember the time when we cast our eyes on our first vinyl record, perhaps during a visit to a small record store in Flinders St Melbourne or Oxford St, Sydney or a […] http://media.rawvoice.com/joy_archives/p/joy.org.au/beatzradio/wp-content/uploads/sites/269/2017/07/Beatz-Presents-Central-Station-Records-Music-Wars.mp3 Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 2:05:12 — 114.6MB) Subscribe or Follow Us: Apple Podcasts | Android | Google Podcasts | RSS The post Beatz Presents: Central Station Records – Music Wars appeared first on Beatz Radio Australia.
119 Krafty Kuts + Chali 2NA from Jurassic 5 live in Bondi 3pm Friday, my friend AJ from Central Station Records drops me a line… “We have Krafty Kuts & Chali 2na (of Jurassic 5) doing their “It Ain’t My Fault” single launch at the Beach Road Hotel in Bondi this Wednesday 1st of March…” can we hook up an interview on Bondi Beach Radio? Yes, yes and yes… So AJ sends me through a couple of pressers (press releases) and a copy of the brand new single “It Ain’t My Fault” and then come Monday morning, I find myself in the boardroom at Central Station Records in Sydney for a 2:1 chat with Kraft Kuts and Chali 2na. Awesome! Our vast ranging chats cover Krafty Kuts' earliest ever memory from his childhood of the family cat in Kingston upon Thames in the UK and Chali’s memories of his 2nd birthday in the projects of south-side Chicago, the pleasures of working with Dynamite MC and Chali 2na to bring this jam to life, our shared experiences of the inspiration of hip hop street art in Miami, Rome, Montpellier, Belgium and their 2 pieces of advice that Krafty Kuts and Chali 2na give to someone who has a dream, but is afraid to take that first step. As Krafty tells it, studying your art and creating magic is all about practicing your art form to hone yourself into the best at what you do and I felt that myself even during this interview, as while I usually capture what I need in hour long shows that I’ve been recording for 2.5 years, we made this shit work in 25 minutes. I’ll be heading down to their show Beach Road Bondi this Wednesday night 1st of March for sure! Stoked to be able to launch “It Ain’t My Fault” by Krafty Kuts & Dynamite MC featuring Chali 2na of Jurassic 5 on my show on Bondi Beach Radio at 9am AEST this morning (USA 2pm PT and 5pm ET) and now you can also download the interview right here, right now on iTunes. These two gentleman are consummate professionals, super enigmatic and downright lovely… And maaaaaaannnn… this jam is GOLD! Starting a mixing obsession that began after a visit to clubland at the slightly cheeky age of 17, Seb stalked his fave DJs for tips and honed his skills as a trainee jock at the obligatory round of friend's parties and weddings. Adopting the moniker of 'Kinky' he turned professional at 24 , holding down several residencies including Connections Nightclub, The Court, Trade, Heaven, The Red Lion, Sneek and Pink and as well as spinning main room sets at the annual #XES and Pride WA Parties. From 2000 - working now as DJ Seb Sharp - he secured regular spots at Perth’s busiest venues and played alongside some of the world's finest, including Deepswing, Dr. Motte,Groove Terminator, Freemasons, DJ Kate Monroe, Paul Johnson, Wayne G, (Love) Tattoo (Stephen Allkins) and Bushwacka! as well as duo sets with partner-in-crime DJ Scout opening for Tiga, Ajax, Freeform Five and Meat Katie. Holding down day jobs at 78 Records, Planet, Dada Records and Central Station Records, Seb also co-hosted a weekly house and electro mixshow called ‘Da Funk' with clubland stalwarts Christie Pitts and Reuben Cameron on Groove 101.7FM, mixing up a storm for the listeners every Saturday night. Still a ‘regularly irregular’ guest at #Perth’s gay venues, Seb most recently dusted off the vinyl for DECADANCE 1985-1995 and the 41st Birthday celebrations at Connections Nightclub with #DJ Scout.
