De Nederlandse sector voor zorgtechnologie heeft een nieuw Groeiplan MedTech gepresenteerd, als aanvulling op het rapport van oud-ASML-topman Peter Wennink. De sector zegt zo'n vijf miljard euro aan publiek-private investeringen nodig te hebben in de komende tien jaar om innovatie in de zorg te versnellen en Nederland bij de wereldtop voor medische technologie te krijgen. Het plan is deze week aangeboden aan de ministeries van Volksgezondheid en Economische Zaken. In BNR Beter bespreken we wat er in het groeiplan staat en wat de investering moet opleveren. De sector zet in op onder meer autonome MRI-systemen, AI-gestuurde en robotondersteunde therapieën en een landelijk netwerk voor zorgdata en patiëntmonitoring. Volgens de initiatiefnemers zijn dit belangrijke ontwikkelingen om zowel de zorg als de economie te versterken. Het groeiplan schetst ook duidelijke randvoorwaarden: betere toegang tot zorgdata en een sterke AI-infrastructuur, snellere opschaling van innovaties van idee naar praktijk, innovatievriendelijkere regelgeving, behoud van hoogwaardige maakindustrie en een stabiel, voorspelbaar overheidsbeleid. Zonder die voorwaarden dreigen start-ups en innovaties te blijven steken in pilots of naar het buitenland te vertrekken. Welk televisieprogramma wint dit jaar de AD Mediaprijs voor het programma dat onterecht nog nooit een prijs heeft gewonnen prijs? Dermoûts succes was in Nederland minder onmiddellijk dan internationaal, maar inmiddels is haar plek in de Nederlandse en Indische canon onbetwist. Een avond over het leven en het werk van Maria Dermoût. Schrijver Maria Dermoût (1888 – 1962) werd geboren op Java en bracht het grootste deel van haar leven door in Nederlands-Indië. Ze debuteerde op 63-jarige leeftijd in Nederland, acht jaar nadat haar zoon was vermoord in een Japans interneringskamp. Haar werk wordt bewonderd om de gevoelige natuurbeschrijvingen maar bevat ook veel verwijzingen naar het geweld in gekoloniseerd Indonesië. In haar verhalen is aldoor de vergankelijkheid en teloorgang van mensen en dingen voelbaar. Haar meesterwerk, De tienduizend dingen, is tegelijkertijd te lezen als een sprookje en een spookverhaal. De hoofdpersoon, Felicia, blikt terug op het verleden dat voorbij is en niet voorbij. Zij spreekt met geesten, onder andere met die van haar vermoorde (of gesneuvelde) zoon. Zij leeft met de natuur die zowel lieflijk is én boosaardige krachten in zich meedraagt: constant is daar de dreiging van de zee maar ook de magische krachten van schelpen. Het boek gaat over de trauma's van het leven in een kolonie en over het (on)vermogen met de dood om te gaan. Een boek waarin het bestaan zowel geleefd als continu bevochten moet worden.Onderzoeker Pamela Pattynama en schrijver Oek de Jong zijn beiden grote bewonderaars van het werk van Dermoût, en toneelschrijver Bo Tarenskeen vernoemde zelfs de stichting waarin hij zijn toneelwerk onderbrengt naar haar meesterwerk. Monica is the former Executive Director of the International Myopia Institute (IMI), the premier working group of over one experts in the field of myopia established after the first WHO-BHVI Meeting on Myopia in 2015 to advance myopia research, education and patient care, to prevent future vision impairment and blindness. Monica led the IMI from its inception in 2015 until late 2021 and under her direction the IMI has brought consensus to the area of myopia management, published two volumes of white papers in the Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences high impact journal, clinical summaries in up to fourteen languages, as well as a chairside reference for practitioners. Monica has authored numerous peer reviewed publications in the area of myopia and high myopia risk factors, pathology and epidemiology. She co-authored the WHO report on the Impact of Myopia and High Myopia, and was the co-creator of the first accredited global online myopia management education program. "De kasstroom die het grote belang in Tencent oplevert is natuurlijk heel belangrijk, maar het bedrijf doet veel meer. Vrijwel niemand kijkt daarnaar, maar Prosus heeft duidelijk de ambitie om het grootste techbedrijf van Europa te worden." De reden dat de koers toch daalde duidt op winstnemingen, Prosus is met een koersstijging van 40 procent een van de grotere stijgers in de AEX. Over het sentiment zijn beide experts het ook eens: dat is nog steeds goed. Zowel Martine als Richard maakt zich geen zorgen over bijvoorbeeld een AI-bubbel. Of dat zo blijft zal vooral afhangen van het rentebesluit van de Fed in december. De winsten van bedrijven zijn in ieder geval hoger uitgekomen dan analisten hadden verwacht. INTRO:I'm Hank, longtime podcaster, filmmaker, and YouTuber, and this is my review of Disney's Predator: Badlands.This is a spoiler-filled review of the movie so you've been warned.BUDGET:Predator Badlands cost $105 million dollars to make. It would appear the 20th Century Studios (a Walt Disney Company) is going to make money. That hasn't been a very common occurrence lately in film.SETTINGS:I didn't like the scaled down look of Yautja Prime. From the lack of scale to the hazy look, I wasn't a fan at all. When I say scale I don't simply mean the size of the area. I like to see expansive worlds that are populated. There were parts of the planet Genna that felt expansive but it mostly felt like we were in front of a green screen for two hours. If your budget wasn't $105 million dollars I'd let it slide.CHARACTERS:Dek portrayed by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi. The concept is universal so it works for the most part. I simply couldn't wrap my mind around all the emotional dynamics of a human family coming from Predators.Thia & Tessa portrayed by Elle Fanning. The first several minutes of Thia's appearance were like nails on a chalkboard! She was so annoying that I regretted going to the film. Over time, thankfully, that leveled off. That dynamic works in many different types of movies, just not a Predator movie. She was the comic relief that had a strange motivation that I didn't quite understand because they didn't give us any insight on how or why she was so connected to Tessa. The Tessa version was a one-note villain that doesn't hesitate to lie to Mu/TH/UR.Father is portrayed by Reuben de Jong.Kwei is portrayed by Michael Homik.Bud is the baby Grogu style ripoff. She's even referred to as a baby Kalisk. She's funny and extremely important to the story but the comedy distracts from what a typical Predator movie should be. HITS:The concept of going on an adventure to prove your worth is tried and true. The action sequences work well and are exhilarating in most instances.If they were going for a couples or family movie they hit the mark. I was about 20 minutes in when I said to myself, “oh, this is a couples/family movie.”The marketing appears to have worked as the first weekend was pretty solid.I like that they attempted to go in a different direction with the franchise even though it doesn't work for me.MISSES:This is a predator movie in name only.This is a human storyline portrayed by brand name that sells tickets.The overall look and lack of scale detract from the movie.I didn't sign up for this style of Predator movie. Subverting expectations can work when you stay in the confines of the source material (which they didn't).The father son conflict dynamic is pushed beyond belief.The brother references being saved by Dek but they don't show it.The hunt seems irrelevant to the story which is simply a revenge story. Especially once Dek knows he won't kill the kalisk. So why are we going on this adventure again?They borrowed from too many franchises and genres to list.MOVIE SCORE: 5/10DIRECTION: CWRITING: DCINEMATOGRAPHY: CPOST PRODUCTION (INCLUDES: SCORE, SFX, COLOR GRADE) : DREWATCHABILITY: D1 Awful content = Fails on every single level.2-4 Poor = Terrible on almost every front.5 Mediocre = Some of the content is...
