"Zeg mij wat er gaat gebeuren en hoe we dat gaan doen." Volgens Emile Roemer, gouverneur van Limburg, is dat formeren vóór de verkiezingen meer iets van de laatste jaren. En daarmee bereik je de kiezers thuis niet, denkt de voormalig SP-leider. "Het gaat echt om fundamentele keuzes, hoe we de problemen moeten aanpakken en niet over wie dat met wie gaat doen."

Tydens vandag se Wêreldbevolkingsdag-herdenking in Windhoek het die Verenigde Nasies se Bevolkingsfonds kommer uitgespreek oor die toenemende aantal vroeë en onbedoelde swangerskappe in Namibië. UNFPA-verteenwoordiger Erika Goldson het die ernstige impak op jong meisies uitgelig – dit beperk hul geleenthede, versterk armoedesiklusse en bedreig hul gesondheid en toekoms.

Gijs de Jong is sinds begin 2018 secretaris-generaal van de KNVB. Hij heeft een achtergrond in bestuurskunde, begon zijn carrière als eventmanager bij de Amsterdam ArenA en werkte zich binnen de KNVB op via belangrijke posities op het gebied van veiligheid, competitiezaken en communicatie. De talkshow als meningencircus, het sneuvelen van Sterren op het doek vanwege een ‘persoonlijk conflict’ en de aantrekkingskracht van een (tot nu toe) wat liefdeloos seizoen van B&B vol liefde. Het zijn slechts drie van de vele onderwerpen die voorbij komen in de eerste AD Media Podcast na de zomerstop. Het panel heeft een hoop te bespreken. Seizoen 12 van de AD Media Podcast gaat direct vlammend van start met een discussie over de huidige talkshowarena. Was er eerst ‘de slag om de actuele gast’, tegenwoordig bestaan de programma’s binnen dit genre vooral uit opiniemakers. Jack van Gelder versus CDA-frontman Henri Bontenbal in De Oranjezomer was in elk geval het meest opvallende tv-moment van de afgelopen weken. Al is het ook voer voor discussie. ,,Toen de babbelaars op tv nog links waren, was het geen enkel probleem." Verslaat het meningencircus de feitelijke journalistiek en is het nieuwe Pauw & De Wit straks dé inhoudelijke uitzondering? Gudo Tienhooven sprak erover met Jeroen Pauw. Lots of folks fantasize about following their dreams. Most ideas, however, never get past the initial imagination phase. Some years ago, Tim de Jong was backpacking in Southeast Asia. He rented one of the small-displacement motorcycles common to that part of the world. “I really felt the freedom,” he says. “I was like, ‘Wow, this is the best way to travel, actually.'”After returning to his native Netherlands, however, de Jong fell back into his daily routine, which didn't include motorcycles. A friend proposed a two-wheel vacation in Colombia. De Jong didn't have a motorcycle license, but that inconvenience was soon resolved, and his life changed forever. “It was so addictive,” he tells “Driven to Ride” host Mark Long. “I was totally hooked.”De Jong and his small team now own and operate “Donkey Sunrise,” Colombia's gateway to all sorts of adventures, including motorcycle tours.
