Verpleegkundige Teun Toebes werd bekend doordat hij op 21-jarige leeftijd 3,5 jaar samenwoonde met mensen met dementie op een gesloten afdeling van een verpleeghuis. Een leerzame tijd waarin hij hechte vriendschappen opbouwde met zijn huisgenoten. Hij kwam in contact met filmmaker Jonathan de Jong waarmee hij het boek ‘The housemates' schreef en de documentaire 'Human Forever' maakte, die bekroond werd met een Gouden Kalf. Hierin is te zien hoe ze samen de wereld over reizen om te onderzoeken hoe andere samenlevingen omgaan met dementie en wat we daarvan kunnen leren om mensen met dementie een waardiger en menselijker leven te bieden. Married at first sight keert voorlopig niet terug op de buis. Het mediapanel vindt dat een goede keuze, valt te horen in een nieuwe AD Media Podcast. Hoewel de kijkcijfers goed waren, waren de matches in het programma dat niet. Een onderbelicht programma is het zomerseizoen van Stars on stage. Sosha Duysker werd de verrassende winnaar van de musicalshow. Toch is er ook kritiek over de marginale rol van de recensenten in de finale. „Albert Verlinde en Paul de Leeuw moeten gewoon doen waarvoor ze aangenomen zijn.” Ook is er aandacht voor de overname van Viaplay door Videoland. Wordt een abonnement op de RTL-streamingsdienst nu duurder? Ook wordt een interessante theorie over Vandaag inside besproken en de mogelijke overstap van Wilfred Genee naar RTL. The relationship between the Church and the world has been a subject of debate since the Church's earliest days. In ⁠A Church for a Secular World: The Development of Klaas Schilder's Ecclesiology⁠ (Brill, 2025), Marinus De Jong explores how Stanley Hauerwas, with his emphasis on the Church as polis, made a significant contemporary contribution—one that has also faced strong criticism. This study examines the distinctive insights of second-generation neo-Calvinist theologian Klaas Schilder (1890-1952) on this issue. Neo-Calvinism is renowned for its development of Reformed theology, particularly in this area, and Schilder builds on this tradition with a critical eye. Engaging with the increasing secularity of the twentieth century, he carefully interacts with Karl Barth's writings while refining his own perspective. In doing so, Schilder's position comes close to the Anabaptist stance of Hauerwas, yet remains firmly rooted in the Reformed understanding of creation. It's another Throwback Thursday, and this time we're going back to December 2019 for one of my all-time favorite episodes. At the 2019 California International Marathon (CIM), 72 women ran faster than 2 hours 45 minutes, officially qualifying to run the 2020 Olympic Trials in the marathon. Leading several dozen of those women were Menso de Jong, Chris Stehula, and Ken Rakestraw — the official sub-2:45 pace group leaders. None of them had ever run a 2:45 marathon before. This is their story. (This is such a lovely, wholesome conversation with three men who took their roles at CIM that year incredibly seriously, and who had the utmost respect for the women in the field chasing their biggest goals.
